Opis:
Objective: First cases of osteonecrosis of the jaw in patient exposed to bisphosphonates were presented in 2003. Bisphosphonates related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) was further extended to medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) to include antiresorptive and anti-angiogenic drugs. Some directives were described for the treatment of this disease in function of its gravity. Treatments of high stage of MRONJ are subject to discussion because of their morbidity. Complete healing is difficult to reach and often needs combination of invasive and non-invasive treatment. Case report: We report and illustrate a clinical case of new bone formation after MRONJ on pamidronate and zoledronate treatment for multiple myeloma. The treatment of choice was sequestrectomy and conservative treatment. Discussion: The consensus to reach a complete healing after MRONJ is not already known. More studies are needed.

Opis:
Objective. The aim of this case report is to present a multidisciplinary treatment administered to a patient with a cystic lesion in the jawbone, in the root region of the incisors, caused by trauma. The report also emphasizes the effect of accurate diagnosis and treatment planning on the prognosis of cyst-associated teeth in the presence of large cystic lesions. Case report. A 12-year-old male patient with the maxillary central teeth broken as a result of trauma experienced 3 years ago. In radiographic examination, a round and wide radiolucent area with smooth and distinct borders was observed which included the root of tooth number 11. As a result of the clinical and radiographic examination, it was decided to resect the cyst after consultation with oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists. According to the one-year follow-up results, no pain was felt in the area of the tooth.

Opis:
Objective: The authors submitted a proposal of preventive procedures to eliminate the risks of osteonecrosis of the jaw bone in patients treated with bisphosphonates using interdisciplinary cooperation of specialists. Conclusion: Before starting the treatment of bone metastases with bisphosphonates, all patients should have dental examination, dental treatment and dental hygiene treatment as a prevention of osteonecrosis of the jaw bone. The application of preventive approaches can reduce risk and eliminate the incidence of osteonecrosis of the jaw in patients who have to take bisphosphonates.

Opis:
Ischnacanthiform acanthodian dentigerous jaw bones from the Lower Devonian (Late Lochkovian) of Podolia are described for the first time. One new genus and one new species are established. Podoliacanthus gen. nov. is diagnosed as having small−sized jaw bones, the presence of specific accessory cusps/denticles on the medial side of teeth of the lateral tooth row, and groups of denticles forming the lingual tooth row. Podoliacanthus zychisp. nov. is distinguished in having elongated slender jaw bones and lateral teeth with one medial side denticle. Besides, three species are described in open nomenclature: Podoliacanthus sp. 1, while similar to Podoliacanthus zychi sp. nov., differs in having stronger posterior inclination of the teeth tips and presence of well developed flanges of the teeth, P. sp. 2 has quite robust jaw bones and teeth with two medial side denticles, and Podoliacanthus sp. 3 has small narrow jaw bones and teeth with three medial side denticles. Morphology of the lingual tooth row is considered to be a diagnostic feature of generic and higher taxonomic levels, while accessory medial cusps/denticles of the teeth are regarded as diagnostic features at species level. The new genus also occurs in Upper Silurian or Lower Devonian deposits of North Greenland. Preservation of the jaw bones possibly depends on their secondary mineralization.
