Opis:
Encapsulation of di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid was carried out by ionic complex of gelatine with cetyltrimonium bromide. Dispersity of obtained microcapsules at various extractant and oil phase contents was determined by optical microscopy and dynamic light scattering measurements. It was found that kinetic parameters and efficiency of iron removal from aqueous medium by encapsulated extractant is more attractive in comparison with the results of liquid or membrane extraction.

Opis:
The main goal of this work was to study and compare the rate of iron(III) extraction from chloride solutions by commercial extractants: Alamine 336, TOPO and LIX 54 and their mixtures. Using the interfacial tension data, obtained for mixed systems, the values of surface mole fraction and molecular interaction parameter of extractants were estimated. Determination of the extraction rates was performed by using the Lewis-type stirred transfer cell. It was found that the extraction efficiency of extractants are changed in the following order: Alamine 336>TOPO>β-diketone. The addition of a chelating extractant to the system decreases the extraction efficiency, for example the addition of β-diketone to TOPO decreases the extraction efficiency by about 50%.

Opis:
The paper presents distribution of zinc, manganese and iron in fractions of soil treated with tannery sludge and compost of tannery sludge and peat, and, for the sake of comparison, the soil from a plot treated with farmyard manure (FYM), and mineral fertilisers. Total soil contents of zinc ranged from 38.0 to 47.3 mg kg-1 of soil. The share of mobile zinc forms ranged between 6.05-7.93%. Percentage of the exchangeable form was between 5.8-7.5% of the total Zn contents, while the share of forms bound with organic matter ranged between 10.7 and 12.7%. A considerable part of zinc was bound with manganese and iron oxides. Between 30.14- 43.72% of Zn were found in the residual form. Organic and mineral treatment influenced the share of easily soluble manganese compounds. It ranged between 15.6-19.7%. The least of manganese (1.0-2.0%) occurred in the compounds with crystalline iron oxides. The exchangeable form constituted between 3.4-4.2%, organic fraction accumulated slightly more. Manganese oxides retained the most of the element. Trace amounts of iron were revealed in the first three fractions. The biggest part of this metal was found in sparingly soluble compounds, mainly oxides (over 40%) and on residual fraction (over 30%).

Opis:
In the present paper arable soils of the Upper Silesia were evaluated as to copper, zinc, manganese and iron contents, determined in the same extract, i.e. 1 M dm-3 HCl. The studies comprised 20 points in the vicinity of Sosnowiec and 20 points from near Zawiercie. Soil abundance in the available forms of microelements was assessed on the basis of the limiting numbers suggested by the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation. Soils of Zawiercie and Sosnowiec belonged to those with high contents of zinc in all the cases; in the majority of objects these were the soils with medium contents of copper and manganese. In half of the cases, the soils were classified as possessing low iron content, and in the remaining half as having medium iron content.

Opis:
Extraction of zinc(II) and iron(III) from hydrochloric acid solutions using quaternary phosphonium salts, CyphosŽ IL 101, CyphosŽ IL 104, CyphosŽ IL109 and CyphosŽ IL 111 in mixtures with toluene, was studied. Trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium chloride (CyphosŽ IL 101) and trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)phosphinate (CyphosŽ IL 104) showed the best zinc(II) and iron(III) extraction abilities. After three stages of zinc(II) extraction with CyphosŽ IL 101 and CyphosŽ IL 104 the efficiencies were 100 and 93.6%, respectively. Total iron(III) transport to the organic phase was achieved after two separation stages and amounted to 82.1 and 100% for CyphosŽ IL 101 and CyphosŽ IL 104, respectively. Zinc(II) and iron(III) could be effectively stripped from the loaded organic phases with 0.5 mol dm-3 sulfuric acid. The more hydrophobic the character of the anion type of phosphonium salts, the lower the efficiency of extraction.

Opis:
W suchej masie i naparach 6 gatunków ziół (rumianek pospolity, lipa drobnolistna, skrzyp polny, melisa lekarska, mięta pieprzowa, dziurawiec zwyczajny) oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektrometrii atomowej (ASA) Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu. Stwierdzono, że badane pierwiastki w różnym stopniu ulegają ekstrakcji do naparów. Wysoki stopień ekstrakcji do naparu wykazywał Ca i Mg, a niski Cu i Fe.
The aim of the study was the recognition of the contents and distributions of calcium, magnesium, iron and copper in 6 herb species (matricaria chamomila, tilia cordata, equisetum arvense, melissa officinalis, mentha piperita, hypericum perforatum) and in the herb infusions. The samples were digested using a microwave oven, and the elements concentration was determined by AAS method. The following levels of Ca, Mg, Mg and Cu in the herbs were determined: 6872-19802 mg/kg Ca, 4630-8530 mg/kg Mg, 149,9-415,6 mg/kg Fe and 15,15-24,64 mg/kg Cu. The values of extractions in the infusions of herb were as follows: 16,1-73,8% Ca, 14,4-37,3% Mg, 5,1-9,7% Fe, 13,1-21,8% Cu. This indicates, that a very small part of the iron can be potentially treated as a bioavailable fraction for persons, using plant drugs as infusions. One glass of infusion (250 cm3) contain elements in quantities corresponding to: 0,78-2,61% average daily dietary intake (ADDIs) of Ca, 0,76-1,36% ADDIs of Mg, 026-0,38% ADDIs of Cu and only 0,15-0,33% ADDIs of Fe.
