Opis:
The aim of the study was to investigate the behavior of inventory investment in different productive sectors. The hypothesis of this article is expressed by the statement that the level of inventory in relation to other financial variables is stable, which can be the result of inventory control that is exercised by companies. The research was conducted on the basis of quarterly financial statements of 88 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the period IQ 2007–IQ 2013. The statistical methods of data analysis (e.g. correlation analysis, mean, the coefficient of variation) were used to verify the hypothesis. This paper finds positive correlations between inventory and sales dynamics for most of analyzed sectors. Moreover, the analysis of indicators describing the relationship between inventory and other financial variables indicate their low volatility during the research period. However, there are differences in the level of these indicators, which might be caused by specificity of each sector. The findings of this paper lead to the conclusion that research on inventories should be conducted in order to find the factors affecting decisions on inventory investment.

Cel: Celem opracowania jest ocena wpływu zapasów na stabilizację przebiegu cykli koniunkturalnych. Jego realizacja obejmuje, z jednej strony, zwrócenie uwagi na znaczenie zapasów w przedsiębiorstwie i optymalizacji ich poziomu w celu wygładzenia produkcji. Z drugiej strony, podejście makroekonomiczne opiera się na analizie zmian struktury akumulacji na podstawie danych zestawionych w systemie rachunków narodowych, m.in. w kontekście oceny wpływu zapasów na stabilizację przebiegu cykli koniunkturalnych. Metodyka: Przy zastosowaniu metod input-output dokonano oszacowania pełnego wpływu zapasów na PKB. Empiryczna część opracowania opiera się na danych statystycznych publikowanych w bazie Komisji Europejskiej (Eurostat Database), a w szczególności na bilansach dla aktywów niefinansowych, sekwencji transakcji zestawionych w systemie rachunków narodowych oraz tablic input-output (bilansów przepływów międzygałęziowych i tablic wykorzystania). Wyniki: Przykład gospodarki czeskiej pokazuje, że wkład zapasów w tworzenie PKB charakteryzuje się dużą zmiennością, przy czym znaczenie zapasów rośnie w okresach występowania szoków zewnętrznych. Implikacje i rekomendacje: Zapasy należy uważać za niezbędny i nieunikniony element działalności gospodarczej, mylnie są one często traktowane jako element pasywny i niedochodowy. Wydaje się, że ich znaczenie rośnie szczególnie w niepewnej sytuacji makroekonomicznej, w jakiej znalazły się gospodarki światowe wobec pandemii COVID-19 czy wojny w Ukrainie. Oryginalność/wartość: Analiza zawarta w artykule stanowi próbę zestawienia mikroekonomicznego i makroekonomicznego podejścia do analizy zapasów, w tym szczególnie rzadkiego zastosowania metod input-output do analizy zjawiska zapasów.
Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the impact of inventories on the stabilization of business cycles. Achieving the goal includes, on the one hand, drawing attention to the importance of inventory management in the enterprise and optimizing their level for production smoothing. On the other hand, the macroeconomic approach is based on the analysis of changes in the structure of accumulation based on data compiled in the system of national accounts, including assessing the impact of inventories on the stabilization of business cycles. Methodology: Using input-output methods, the full impact of stocks on GDP and income of institutional sectors was estimated. The empirical part of the study is based on statistical data published in the European Commission database (Eurostat Database), in particular on balance sheets for non-financial assets, sequences of transactions compiled in the system of national accounts and input-output tables (symmetric input-output tables and use tables). Results: The example of the Czech economy shows that the contribution of inventories to GDP is highly variable, with the importance of inventories increasing in periods of external shocks. Implications and recommendations: Inventories should be considered a necessary and unavoidable element of business activity, mistakenly treated as a passive and non-profit element. The study aims to juxtapose the microeconomic and macroeconomic approaches to inventory analysis. It seems that its importance is increasing, especially in the uncertain macroeconomic situation that world economies find themselves due to the COVID-19 pandemic or the war in Ukraine. Originality/value: The analysis contained in the article is an attempt to compare the microeconomic and macroeconomic approaches to inventory analysis, including the particularly rare use of input-output methods to analyze the inventory accumulation.

W artykule poruszono problem z zakresu wykorzystania narzędzi informatycznych do zarządzania zapasami w BMW Polska. Celem pracy jest usprawnienie zarządzania zapasami w analizowanej firmie poprzez wdrożenie narzędzia informatycznego SRD. Badania rozpoczęto od analizy problemu badawczego w świetle literatury przedmiotu badań. Następnie poddano analizie i ocenie wskaźniki wykorzystywane podczas zarządzania zapasami w badanym przedsiębiorstwie. Do oceny wykorzystano metodę analizy porównawczej, gdzie zestawiono ze sobą wskaźniki przed wdrożeniem nowego narzędzia o nazwie SRD do zarządzania zapasami w badanym przedsiębiorstwie i po wdrożeniu (lata 2018–2019).

The term 'common' does not denote an association of people, as Polish civil law defines it as a joint land property with specific characteristics. In a certain simplification we can say that it is the title of the inhabitants of a given locality to use a common land only because they are its inhabitants. The commons are today the last form of collective land management – a relic of the feudal past, when property was understood differently than it is today. The term 'common' in the historical context refers to ‘a group of people of common origin, traditions, values, etc. or linked with a common interest or property' [Bańko 2005]. The first commons were established in the period of royal land grants; the history of the oldest of them dates back to the 14th century. A second wave of commons took place during Poland's partition [Jastrzebski 1963]. Therefore, the history of the majority of commons dates back to the 19th century where the process of liquidation of feudal property took place. On the basis of the information obtained from 81% of the communes, there were 1,588 commons (farmlands, farmlands−forestlands or forestlands) in 13 provinces and in 158 counties in Poland. Management on all the inventoried commons cover 81,875.43 ha, including 48,339.17 ha of forests. According to the GUS statistics, 67,000 ha of forests (just 4.6% of the total area of private forests) are under common management [Zając et al. 2004]. The article presents distribution of regional commons, their general area characteristics and structure of the utilized lands, as well as selected elements characterising forest management on those lands.

This paper presents the order-picking problem as a multicriteria task. Using simulation tool 360 variants of solution were generated. The different combinations of the picking zone's shape, the number of forklift trucks and the picker-routing methods were considered. The variants were evaluated by seven criteria and the dominated solutions were removed. Then, using the Electre I method, the number of solutions was even more limited. The paper discusses and presents conclusions how to optimize the order-picking process.

Celem artykułu jest próba usystematyzowania i poszerzenia wiedzy na temat zarządzania magazynem i analiza procesów magazynowych zachodzących w przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych. W artykule przedstawiono istotę magazynowania jako podstawową funkcję systemu logistycznego oraz poddano analizie funkcjonowanie magazynu w przedsiębiorstwie EKOPLON S.A. Ponadto zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie zapasów, problemów i wyzwań przedsiębiorstwa w oparciu o magazynowanie towarów. Dokonano również oceny i rekomendacji opisywanej firmy.
The purpose of the article is to attempt to systematize and broaden knowledge about warehouse management and analysis the storage processes which take place in manufacturing companies. The article presents the essence of storage as the basic function of the logistics system and the analysis of functioning of the storage in EKOPLON S.A. In addition, the importance of stocks, problems and challenges of the enterprise based on the storage of the goods has been focused on. The evaluation and recommendation of the described company have been made.

This paper deals with the integrated supply chain management problem in the context of a single vendor-single buyer system for which the production unit is assumed to randomly shift from an in-control to an out-of-control state. Two different strategies, integrating production, shipment and maintenance policies, are proposed and compared to satisfy the buyers order at a minimum integrated total cost rate. The first strategy is based on a classical production policy for which the buyer’s order of size nQ is manufactured continuously and shipped by lots of size Q. The second strategy suggests that the same buyer’s order should be produced and shipped separately by equal sized lots Q. For both strategies, a corrective or preventive maintenance action is performed at the end of each production cycle, depending on the state of the production unit, and a new setup is carried out. The total integrated average cost per time unit is considered as the performance criterion allowing choosing the best policy for any given situation.

The supply chain of spare parts is the intersection between the supply chain, the after-sales and the maintenance services. Some authors have tried to define improvement paths in terms of models to satisfy the performance criteria. In addition, other authors are directed towards the integration of risk management in the demand forecasting and the stock management (performance evaluation) through probabilistic models. Among these models, the probabilistic graphical models are the most used, for example, Bayesian networks and petri nets. Performance evaluation is done through performance indicators. To measure the appreciation of the supply of the spare parts stock, this paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the system by petri nets. This evaluation will be done through an analytical study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyze the performance of the system by proposed indicators. First, we present a literature review on Petri nets which is the essential tool in our modeling. Secondly, we present in the third section the analytical study of the model based on bath deterministic and stochastic petri networks. Finally, we present an analysis of the proposed model compared to the existing ones.

The EOQ model is one of the oldest classic production scheduling models. The EOQ mathematical models have been established within the scope of operations management to determine the optimal inventory level. The most widely used model is the EOQ model. This journal research uses descriptive research design. A survey was conducted on automotive components of a Japanese company in Indonesia. The company is one of the fastest growing industrial company among automotive component companies. The main products are copper materials used by the automotive industry for lamps, switches, electrical panel components two-wheeled vehicles and four-wheeled vehicles. The Japanese company seeks to meet increasing customer demand but on the other hand strive to obtain optimal inventory costs, as well as demand by parent companies in Japan for faster money turnover or otherwise known as Inventory Turnover Ratio (ITR) and must be in quantity minimum or small. This means the goods in the order must be as required.

Inventory management is focused with ensuring that all activities involved in labor storage and stock control are carried out efficiently and economically by those working in inventory storage. Then, there is a question for management regarding the efficiency of inventory management procedures because of inconsistencies in inventory levels that cause weaknesses such as losses incurred due to end-inventory stocks, low stock inventories, failure to meet targets and poor corporate morale. As a result, the inventory storage of the company is too busy making the job a difficult supply keeper, late in issuing materials to the department and in turn producing poor inventory service delivery. In inventory management, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) is the number of orders that minimize total holding costs and booking costs. The EOQ model is one of the oldest classic production scheduling models. The EOQ mathematical models have been established within the scope of operations management to determine the optimal inventory level. The most widely used model is the EOQ model.

One of the basic factors influencing the functioning of production enterprises is the correct inventory management.
