This paper argues that sociology should begin to turn its attention to human-animal interaction and that one particularly effective way to do so is to adopt a phenomenological approach. This approach sees the personality, and thus the personhood of animals, as intersubjectively and reflexively created. Based on ethnographic data collected over three years in animal sanctuaries this paper assesses how animal sanctuary workers labour collectively to establish the identity of the animals under their care and how this, in turn, justifies their attitudes towards, and treatment of, them.

Opis:
The paper deals with a problem of analysis of interactions between humans and animals. The author presents his research in which he analyzed transcription of video interactions between humans and animals. The observation of gestures exchanges allows to reconstruct the social rituals (greetings and farewells) and others forms of associations (play, spontaneous expressions of emotions, bathing, reposing, walking, fighting during walks, feeding, indulgent castigation, giving medications, setting the form of interaction – negotiation), which create emotional and social bonds. The analysis of visual data gives the possibility to research corporality and direct interactions of 'bodies' in a sequential exchange of gestures that is the basic dimension of emotional and social bond's creation and finally a construction of "family identity'. The grounded theory methodology has been used in the research and analysis of data process.
Artykuł dotyczy problematyki analizy interakcji pomiędzy ludźmi a zwierzętami domowymi. W badaniach tego problemu analizowano transkrypcje nagrań wideo interakcji zwierząt i ludzi. Obserwacje wymian dotyków i gestów pozwoliły zrekonstruować społeczne rytuały (powitania i pożegnania) i inne społeczne formy asocjacji (zabawa, spontaniczne wyrażanie emocji, kąpiele, układanie do snu, spacery, walki na spacerach, pobłażliwe karcenie, podawanie leków, ustanawianie formy interakcji), które wytwarzają emocjonalne i społeczne więzi. Analiza danych wizualnych daje możliwość badania cielesności i bezpośrednich interakcji ciał w wymiarze sekwencyjnej wymiany gestów jako podstawowego wymiaru wytwarzania emocjonalnej i społecznej więzi i ostatecznie tzw. „tożsamości rodzinnej". Jako metody analizy danych użyto procedur metodologii teorii ugruntowanej.

Opis:
The constitution of internal consciousness of time plays crucial role in the Husserlian phenomenology of time. Flow/stream of consciousness constituting internal time refers to the surrounding world and the Other as a regular element of this world. There are not only the analyses of flow of the consciousness but also the most crucial text included in late considerations of Husserl on the issue of intersubjectivity of the consciousness. The author takes consideration into (1) activation of subject by primordial source playing most important role in constitution of the consciousness of time (the original 'I' and manners of temporalizations of 'I'); (2) proposition of model of the consciousness of inter-monadic time of social world; (3) complementary coexistence of what is constituted within inter-monadic time; (4) description of internal conditions of temporalization of the Other's consciousness [Ich-Spaltung, einfuehlende Vergegenwaertigung]; (5) reference to the actual moment of change creating the consciousness of the 'now'. Also inter-monadic time as coexistence and overlapping of temporal horizons of identity plays important role in the context of temporal socialization (Husserl, Waldenfels).

In this paper we try to answer the question in what sense social sciences are subjective and in what sense they are objective. We examine only some aspects of this problem. First, we address the question of intersubjectivity, mainly with the ideas of philosopher K. R. Popper. We proceed by proposing the following working definition of objectivity: we understand objective facts as true propositions, the truth of which are independent from a particular observer. We ask whether facts of social sciences are objective in this sense. Then we examine some possible objections to proposed claims and also some aspects of subjectivity of social sciences. We are concerned with the following issues: distribution, imperfection and inconsistency of concrete human knowledge, importance of human purposes, beliefs and opinions and of relations between people or relations of people to things in social sciences. Regarding these problems we are dealing mainly with the work of F. A. Hayek. We also try to show that claims we made about objectivity and subjectivity of social sciences are not contrary to each other.

This research paper presents initial findings from a long-term research project which aims to depict how people use Internet in their everyday life. One of the processes which eventually results in becoming an Internet user is adaptation to online communication environment. Research strategy used in this project combines elements of biographic approach with analytic procedures of Grounded Theory Methodology. Narrative interviews, semi-structured interviews and field notes from observations were the basic empirical material used for analysis.

The issue of the subject-subject relationship, also known as the relationship of encounter or the I-Thou relationship, which has a strong presence in the humanities and Christian mysticism, is rarely addressed by psychology. This type of relationship goes beyond the psychosocial approach to personal maturity and human development at the so-called higher stages, thus falling outside the predominant lines of psychological inquiry. Consequently, this paper concerns issues that are not popular in psychology, albeit they are close to the problem of the person’s development as a subject. Drawing inspiration from cultural anthropology and intersubjective philosophy – especially Martin Buber’s philosophy of dialogue and Gabriel Marcel’s concrete philosophy – the author presents from a psychological stance the phenomenon of the subject-subject relationship and its prerequisite conditions. Adopting the perspective of personalistic psychology in its existentialist-phenomenological strands, the author indicates the place of this relationship in human personal development and highlights its crucial significance to this process.

The reflection on intersubjectivity is a central question in the contemporary philosophical debate. In this field, current practical philosophy faces one of the most difficult challenges. Apparently, the research for a foundation of the intersubjective level seems to lead inevitably towards the abandonment of the logical-foundation theory on which the philosophy had been based up until Hegel. In this report, however, I would like to attempt something different. That is, I would like to explore the possibility of inserting the subject of intersubjectivity right into the heart of Hegelian thinking, with an aim to outline the foundation of a social action theory capable of exhibiting reasons stronger than those deriving from simple dialogic validation. It is possible, as Ho sle believed, that Hegel himself did not take this aspect of the profound dynamics of his thought too seriously, and that he had not prepared the notional categories to be able to think about it in depth. Nevertheless, the theoretical foundations of intersubjectivity, brought back to its Hegelian roots, is the fundamental cornerstone upon which to build the logical-rational foundations of social action

Relevance Theory (RT) (Sperber – Wilson 1986 [1995], Wilson – Sperber 2004) postulates the existence of explicit content in utterance meaning, called explicature. The explicitness of explicatures might be expected to consist, among other properties, in their intersubjectivity. However, the RT theoretical assumptions and tools crucial to explicature construction and identification all seem to be individual-relative and, as such, subjective. If so, the explicitness of explicature needs further elaboration.

The article concerns contemporary problems of intersubjectivity. It is in intersubjectivity that understanding and agreement are born. Because of the new media and the processes of globalization, rationality, culture, and knowledge can no longer constitute the only foundation for understanding and agreement – since there is no common rationality, culture, and knowledge anymore. In the article, I support a thesis that in the world that is global but, at the same time, fragmentized on a scale unknown in previous media epochs, agreement is much more important than understanding. It isnecessary to agree even without understanding. Thus, one should seek the foundations for agreement in ratiomorphism as well – rather than only in rationality; ratiomorphism is common to all people irrespective of culture, religion, social status, worldview, etc.A “positive” form of ratiomorphism is axiomorphism, in which biologically determined empathy and liking for fellow Homo sapiens socialis et communicans manifests itself. Referring to Konrad Lorenz’s idea, I suggest that Habermas’s communicative rationality should not be so much replaced as complemented by communicative axiomorphism.
Artykuł dotyczy współczesnych problemów intersubiektywności. W intersubiektywności rodzi się rozumienie i porozumienie. Nowe media i procesy globalizacji sprawiają, że racjonalność, kultura i wiedza nie mogą stanowić jedynego fundamentu dla rozumienia i porozumienia – nie ma już bowiem wspólnej racjonalności, kultury i wiedzy, które dotychczas stanowiły ich podstawę.W artykule argumentuję na rzecz tezy, że w świecie globalnym, ale jednocześnie rozfragmentaryzowanym na skalę nieznaną we wcześniejszych epokach medialnych, porozumienie jest znacznie istotniejsze niż rozumienie. Trzeba się porozumiewać nawet bez zrozumienia. Dlatego fundamentów porozumienia należy także szukać w racjomorficzności, a nie tylko w racjonalności; racjomorficzność jest wspólna wszystkim ludziom, bez względu na kulturę, religię, status społeczny, światopogląd itd.„Pozytywną” formą racjomorficzności jest aksjomorfizm, w którym ujawnia się biologicznie warunkowana empatia i sympatia wobec przedstawicieli tego samego gatunku – Homo sapiens socialis et communicans. Odwołując się do idei Konrada Lorenza, proponuję, by Habermasowską racjonalność komunikacyjną nie tyle zastąpić, co uzupełnić komunikacyjną aksjomorficznością.

Opis:
Intentional mutuality and intersubjective dialogue woven into the pedagogy of youth and adults is a radical idea in any educational setting; however in the case of religious education it can provide a generative, hermeneutic, learning platform for the development of Christocentric living (as one example). Through so doing, this learning platform can easily extend into the postmodern secular sphere to temper and balance its epistemic forms with hermeneutics, ethics, empathy, and social justice. Where religious education can remain free of the control of neoliberal ideology, it can help students flourish in their humanity and agency. At the same time, religious education and critical pedagogies can be further developed on the shoulders of their giants with gleanings from the secular world—practices and methods from a range of human traditions. In that spirit, the author borrows substantial elements from his previous work (Shuster 2006) on the effectiveness of dialogue and intersubjectivity in postmodern workgroups and speculates on its utility to learning groups and classrooms.
Celowa wzajemność i międzypodmiotowy dialog, wplecione w pedagogię młodzieży i dorosłych, stanowi radykalną ideę w dziedzinie edukacji. W przypadku edukacji religijnej może to oznaczać organizację generatywnej i hermeneutycznej platformy nauczania, służącej rozwijaniu chrystocentrycznego modelu życia (jako jednego z przykładów). W ten sposób platforma ta może łatwo się rozszerzać, wkraczając na obszar ponowoczesny i świecki, łagodząc i równoważąc przy tym jego epistemiczne formy hermeneutyką, etyką, empatią i sprawiedliwością społeczną. Tam, gdzie edukacja religijna pozostaje wolna od kontroli ze strony neoliberalnej ideologii, tam może pomóc uczniom w rozwoju ich człowieczeństwa i aktywności. W tym samym czasie edukacja religijna oraz krytycznie ukierunkowane pedagogie mogą być rozwijane przez ich głównych orędowników, zbierając przy tym doświadczenia również ze świeckiego świata, tj. praktyki i metody reprezentujące rozmaite tradycje. Podążając za tym przykładem, autor przejmuje znaczące elementy ze swej wcześniejszej pracy (Shuster 2006) na temat skuteczności dialogu i międzypodmiotowości w ponowoczesnych grupach pracowniczych i zastanawia się nad ich przydatnością w grupach osób uczących się oraz podczas zajęć w klasie szkolnej.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie problematyki obiektywności w sporze między eksternalizmem a internalizmem oraz wykazanie oddziaływania zwrotnego antysceptycznych koncepcji eksternalistów na umocnienie ideału obiektywności. Przedstawione zostaną koncepcje esternalizmu epistemicznego Roberta Nozicka oraz semantycznego Hilarego Putnama i Donalda Davidsona, jak również zarys stanowisk internalistycznych.
The aim of the paper is to show the relevance of objectivity in the dispute between externalism and internalism and to demonstrate how anti-skeptical externalisms approach strengthens the ideal of objectivity. There are presented the positions of Robert Nozick’s epistemic externalism as well as both Hilary Putnam’s and Donald Davidson’s semantic externalism, and also the internalism issues.

Cognition of other minds in perspective of mental representations resonance theoryThe goal of the article is to investigate the connection between naturalization of mental representations and cognition of other minds. It presents arguments for the thesis that delineating relations between physical states of the brain and mental content may be a key to understanding the issues of mental representation and a starting point for empirically validated inferences about other’s subjective experience. The paper discusses possibilities of applying across brains resonance theory in predicting phenomenal and conceptual content of other minds. Historia idei pokazuje, że obiektywność to całkiem nowe pojęcie. Jej epistemologiczne znaczenie wynika z nowożytnej idei poznania jako procesu produktywnego, twórczego i konstrukcyjnego. Właściwości te nabierają szczególnego znaczenia w naukach społecznych. Nauki te wnoszą do nowoczesnej problematyzacji wiedzy w kategoriach obiektywności nowe aspekty – praktyczny i intersubiektywny. Główna teza artykułu brzmi następująco: w przeciwieństwie do nauk przyrodniczych warunki obiektywności poznania w naukach społecznych mają specyfi czny sens o b i e k t y w i z a c j i s p o ł e c z n y c h p r a k t y k, a nie technologicznej obiektywizacji wiedzy. Ontologiczne podstawy obiektywności nauk społecznych mają charakter praktyczny a nie technologiczny.
History of ideas shows, that objectivity is quite new. Its epistemological signifi cance emerges from modern idea of cognition as a productive, creative and constructional process. These features has acquired special signifi cance in social sciences. Social sciences contribute to this modern problematization of knowledge in terms of objectivity practical and intersubjective aspects. The main thesis of the paper is as follows: In contrast to natural sciences the conditions of objectivity of cognition in social sciences has specifi c sense of o b j e c t i v i z a t i o n o f s o c i a l p r a c t i c e s and by no means technological objectivization of knowledge. An ontological foundation of objectivity of social sciences has practical, not technological sense.

Opis:
Purpose. Toshow intersubjectivity importance of cooperation in the educational process and to illustrate, how a systematic use of specific methods, techniques and forms of interaction in the classroom literature helps realize the emotional and evaluative dialogue with the artistic phenomenon. Methods: theoretical and empirical (pedagogical experiment). Results. Intersubjectivity manifested in the ability to listen to others, perceiving it as a unique individual with his outlook, needs and problems; analyze their thoughts and doubts; reasonably carry out the existential expression. Compliance intersubjectivity vector ineducationis in the selection of content, methods, working methods, forms of interaction, systemic application of which sends the student-reader on a spiritual communion with a work of art. In an effort to be heard and understood in dialogue with others, focusing on the so-called "model" reader (the term of Umberto Eco), the artist delivers an artistic material in such a way that the content and form of the product fully reflect his unique personal experience. The point of intersection of two worlds − the world of the reader and the world of the writer − becomes a literary text. From this perspective, the emotional and evaluative dialogue with the artistic phenomenon is built in accordance with the functions of the artwork.
