Opis:
Tourism and hospitality education has only been provided in Latvia as a separate curriculum relatively recently. According to legislation, the curriculum should consist of study courses, internships and the state exam. Cooperation between all stakeholders is crucial in order to achieve the goal of internship – to increase students’ knowledge and  to develop skills in the study area chosen. The purpose of this study is to explore cooperation between higher educational establishments and companies targeted at enhancing students’ employability skills. The survey was conducted in Latvia by addressing managers of 154 tourism and hospitality industry companies in 2014. The findings showed that only 51.30% of the companies plan interns’ job assignment during internship on the basis of an internship programme and in 35.06% of the cases higher educational establishments do not contact internship companies for feedback at all. This means that, despite the importance of internships in developing students’ skills, cooperation among all stakeholders does not proceed in the best possible manner. It is suggested to improve cooperation at all stages of internship –  at the  planning, organisational and control stages.

Purpose: Entrepreneurship is a vital tool for the economic development of any country. As a fiel of research, entrepreneurship has become a diversified area of study. A plethora of studies appeared that investigate the antecedents of entrepreneurial intention, most of them focus on personality traits and other psychological factors. However, the studies focus less on practical entrepreneurial education such as internship and business incubation. Thus, the current study seeks to fill this gap by empirically investigating the impact of business incubators and internship programs on student’s entrepreneurial intention in the Pakistani context. Methodology: The authors collected data through a structured questionnaire from students and ran partial least square structural equation modeling technique by SmartPLS software. Findings: The results show that business incubators and internship programs have a strong and positive statistically significant impact on entrepreneurial intentions. Implication: The current study can help policy-makers get a better insight on entrepreneurship so as to improve its innovation, proactivity, and risk-taking ability and how these factors can amend the lack of entrepreneurial awareness among business students.

A doctor’s adaptation to medical activity has a great influence on the effectiveness of his professional activity. The objective: to explore individual psychological predictors of the formation of maladaptation states of internship doctors for the development of a system for their diagnosis, correction and psychoprophylaxis. A comprehensive clinical-psychological, psychodiagnostic and clinical-anamnestic examination of 213 internship doctors of the first year of training atKharkovNationalMedicalUniversity, 116 women and 97 men, aged 22-25 years old had been conducted. It had been established that internship doctors are characterized by feelings of internal tension and dissatisfaction, decreased mood, irritability, anxiety, long-term uncertain negative emotions, unmotivated fears, self-doubt, doubts about making decisions, decline in intellectual activityin conjunction with increased exhaustion and withdrawal mercurial attention. We have developed a system of medical and psychological support during the professional training period depending on the type of disadaptation. The psychotherapeutic complex in the internship doctors included the use of rational psychotherapy, autogenous training (psychotonic version of Shogham-Mirovsky), art therapy, progressive muscle relaxation by Jacobson, cognitive-behavioral therapy of Beck, autogenous training in the modification of Lebedinsky - Bortnik, etc. were used. The results of a three-year catamnestic study proved the effectiveness of the proposed system of psychotherapeutic correction of disorders of adaptation, positive dynamics of the mental state was noted, the maladaptive states were reduced; 92.6% of the examined recurrences of the violations of adaptation did not occur.

Not only students themselves but also the universities or higher schools they study at should be responsible for their professional success in the job market and be equally interested in the question of how to meet the challenge they may soon face with. The solution to that problem may also be found in students’ internship realized in the period of studies. This paper presents the results of the research conducted to learn what students of English and Applied Linguistics think about the methods of teaching they are offered, the curricula and professional internship. Moreover, it describes the way in which the internship mentioned is realized in the State School of Higher Professional Education in Płock. At the same time the paper tries to answer the question whether the form of internship offered meets the expectations of those eager to look for their future career in the field of professional translation practice.

In the last three decades there has been an increasing interest in the study of the interaction between the author and the reader in written texts. In this paper, we propose to focus on the analysis of the authorial presence in the internship reports. To this end, we analysed a corpus of L1 French students’ internship reports. The occurrences of JE, NOUS and ON allowed us to establish a list of different functions of these pronouns by observing how trainee-writers are using these three pronouns. These observations enabled us to put forward certain hypotheses concerning training of the future language teachers.

One of the EU educational priorities is the increasing of international mobility of the students and graduates starting their professional life. That priority is based on a assumption that intercultural experience is important factor of European integration; might support better knowing of others and also decreases prejudices and xenophobic attitudes. Psychological and developmental aspects of the international mobility of youth and young adults are presented in this paper. The developmental benefits and threats of the participation in exchange projects are underlined. This paper includes also practical conclusions concerning preparation of the candidates for mobility in order to decrease possibility of failure and threats for development.

We are living in a society in which services are characterized by great expansion, mobility and adaptability to market requirements. The purpose of this article is to present the necessity of adapting educational services, namely those in the sphere of higher education, to the labour market and in particular the manner in which the requirements of the labour market are currently well understood and fulfilled by universities. The most accessible and effective way to start the process of correlating students’ skills with market requirements is to facilitate internships for students at the employers. This research has been carried out among the students in the fields of economics at the “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia, following the completion of their last internship (July 2013) and among the economic operators, partners in the completion of internships.
Żyjemy w społeczeństwie, w którym usługi charakteryzują się dużą ekspansją, mobilnością i zdolnością adaptacji do wymagań rynku. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie konieczności dostosowania usług edukacyjnych, czyli tych, w sferze szkolnictwa wyższego, do rynku pracy w szczególności w sposób, w jaki wymogi rynku pracy są obecnie dobrze znane i wypełniane przez uczelnie wyższe. Najbardziej dostępnym i skutecznym sposobem, aby rozpocząć proces korelowania umiejętności studentów z wymogami rynku jest ułatwienie studentom staży u pracodawców. Niniejsze badanie przeprowadzone zostało wśród studentów w dziedzinie ekonomii na Uniwersytecie „1 Decembrie 1918” w Alba Iulia, po zakończeniu ich ostatniego stażu (lipiec 2013 r.) i wśród podmiotów gospodarczych, partnerów w realizacji staży.

The article explores some of the ways in which work placement that accompanies or follows academic instruction may contribute to stimulating trainee translators’ professional development. Inspired by general and profession-specific concepts and components of expertise proposed by researchers in the field of cognitive sciences and translation studies as well as her own experience as a translator, translation trainer, and work placement mentor, the author presents some of her observations and preliminary highlights of her ongoing research to emphasise how individualised support for trainees’ conscious effort in the course of work placement in a translation company may help novice translators hone their skills and at the same time assume responsibility for their own development, thus empowering them and setting them on track to become experts. In her considerations, the author refers to the minimal concept of translation expertise propounded by Muñoz Martín (2014) and to the notion of deliberate practice as posited by Ericsson et al. (1993) to propose how deliberate practice may be implemented as one of the significant elements of translation work placement in a student-centred course of learning, where various aspects of the actual workplace setting contribute to increased readiness for conscious effort in trainees. This paper may prove of use to translator trainers as well as work placement mentors/coordinators, both on the part of the academic institution, and within the organisation accepting trainees, when they shape or revise their curricula or work placement agendas.

Aim. The aim of the research is to identify and analyse the particularities of a dual model of practical professional and educational training of future vocational school teachers in Germany; to outline the prospects for the use of advanced ideas and positive experience of such a model in the training teachers in higher pedagogical educational institutions. Methods. The following methods have been used: interpretative - analytical method, some elements of general philosophical dialectical method (analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparing, systematisation, generalisation); empirical level methods (interview, observation); the method of theoretical generalisation. Results. The prospects of using the positive experience of a dual model of practical professional and pedagogical training of teachers of vocational school in Germany in a similar practice of teacher training have been determined: initiation of previous practical activity in the production of the chosen speciality as a necessary prerequisite for admission to a higher education institution; introduction of pedagogical internship; cooperation of higher education institutions with enterprises, institutions and organisations. Conclusion. A dual model of organising practical vocational training for future vocational school teachers, guarantees a high level of practical training for higher education applicants, makes balance among the educational needs of young people, labour market requirements and educational opportunities. Originality. The structure and content of the practical training of future professional school teachers in Germany have been characterised; the features of a dual model approach to its organisation have been investigated.

Przejście ze szkoły na rynek pracy stanowi dla wielu młodych ludzi ogromne wyzwanie. Coraz częściej pracodawcy oczekują od kandydatów, nie tylko określonego wykształcenia, ale też umiejętności praktycznych oraz odpowiedniego stażu pracy, czego niejednokrotnie brakuje młodym. Głównym więc problemem ludzi młodych w poszukiwaniu zatrudnienia zgodnego z ich kwalifikacjami oraz aspiracjami jest brak doświadczenia zawodowego. Podjęte w niniejszym artykule rozważania dotyczą sytuacji młodzieży na rynku pracy oraz istoty praktyki absolwenckiej, która może być dla młodych szansą na zdobycie cennego doświadczenia zawodowego. Instytucja praktyki absolwenckiej została prawnie usankcjonowana w celu ułatwienia ludziom młodym startu zawodowego oraz nawiązania współpracy z pracodawcą i wykorzystania zdobytej wiedzy w praktyce.
The transition from school to the labour market is a challenge for many young people. More and more often employers expect from candidates, not only specific education, but also practical skills and appropriate work experience. Young people often lack skills needed in the workplace. Therefore the main problem of young people in seeking employment in line with their qualifications and aspirations is lack of professional experience. The considerations discussed in this article concern the situation of young people on the labour market and the essence of graduate internship, which may be an opportunity for young people to gain valuable professional experience. The institution of graduate internship has been legally sanctioned in order to facilitate professional start for young people and to establish cooperation with the employer as well as use the acquired knowledge in practice.

Szukano odpowiedzi na szereg problemów badawczych dotyczących oczekiwań, istniejącej rzeczywistości oraz perspektyw w procesie przygotowania studentów do wykonywania zawodu nauczyciela. Opisano procedury realizacji praktyk pedagogicznych. Przedstawiono zaobserwowane różnice w przygotowaniu do zawodu nauczyciela w polskich i norweskich placówkach przedszkolnych.
The article presents a fragment of the research that was conducted in Poland and Norway. The research involved managerial and pedagogical personnel of pre-school institutions, and students. The main goal was to find answers to a wide range of research questions including expectations, the existing reality and perspectives in the process of preparing students to perform their teacher professions. Procedures of completing pedagogical internships are described. Some differences in preparing students to being teachers in Polish and Norwegian pre-school institutions are discussed.

The presented comparative analysis of internship systems typical of university stud-ies in the pedagogy of early childhood education in Poland and the United Kingdom aims to indicate the significance of this sphere of practical expertise for the process of future teachers’ university education. Theoretical knowledge, which is acquired due to the participation in university lectures and classes, must be supplemented by practical skills that can be only attained due to participant observation and taking relevant actions in educational facilities. The number of hours spent on pedagogy internship for future teachers differs significantly in the Polish and English university education, which becomes evident when one realizes that UK students spend nearly ten times more hours on pedagogy internship than Polish students. Does it mean that a pedagogy student educated in the UK is better prepared for their future vocation than his/her equal in Poland? Since pedagogy internship constitutes a very significant (albeit not the only one) element of university education in pedagogy, the following analyses and considerations aim to initiate a debate concerning the issue. At this point, one has to emphasize that the sheer number of hours spent on pedagogy internship is definitely less significant that the quality, diversity, adequacy and orientation towards practical issues that characterize a given type of traineeship.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie bilansu kompetencji stażystów z projektu pt. Uczelnia bliżej biznesu – absolwent bliżej pracy w Polsko‑Japońskiej Akademii Technik Komputerowych (PJATK). W projekcie oceniono, z zastosowaniem Development Center, kompetencje stażystów istotne dla wejścia na rynek pracy. W artykule zostały omówione założenia metody Development Center (DC) oraz zastosowane w projekcie rozwiązania. Dokonano analizy wyników oceny kompetencji stażystów na przestrzeni trzech lat. W kolejnych latach kompetencje stażystów były coraz wyższe, choć nie osiągnęły poziomu dobrego. Istotnie rósł poziom kompetencji: komunikacja, współpraca, konsekwencja w dążeniu do celu i radzenie sobie z trudnościami. Natomiast kompetencja przedsiębiorczość istotnie nie wzrosła. Unaoczniły się luki kompetencyjne, które warto rozwijać dla zapewnienia dostosowania absolwentów uczelni do istniejącego popytu na rynku pracy.
The purpose of this article is to present the results of interns’ competences assessment in the project carried out by Polish‑Japanese Institute of Information Technology in order to enhance its educational potential. The article presents the assumptions of Development Center method and its application to theproject, and findings of interns’ competences assessment over three years. Thecompetences of interns were improving, but did not reach the targeted level. Thecompetences: communication, collaboration, consistency in goal pursuing and coping with difficulties were improved, but entrepreneurial competence, didn’tincrease significantly. A competency gap was showed and it highlighted a need foreducational improvement at Colleges.
Целью этой статьи является представление баланса компетенции стажёров, принимающих участие в проекте «Высшее учебное заведение ближе к бизнесу – выпускник вуза ‑ ближе к работе» в Польско‑японской академии компьютерной техники (PJATK). В проекте с помощью Development Center оценке подвергалась компетенция стажёров на протяжениия 3 лет. В следующие годы компетенции стажёров были на значительно высшем уровне, хотя не достигли хорошего уровня. Значительно повышался уровень компетенции: коммуникация, сотрудничество, последовательность в стремлении к достижению определённых целей и умению хорошо справляться с разными проблемами. Зато компетенция, связанная с предпринимательством вообще существенным образом неувеличилась. Заметными стали определённые пробелы в компетенции, которые стоит развивать с целью обеспечения пригодности выпускников к спросу на рынке труда.

Opis:
Niniejszy artykuł opisuje zmieniające się na przestrzeni lat potrzeby osób uczących się języków obcych. Dawniej nauczyciele mieli za zadanie nauczyć słownictwa ogólnego czy mówienia w języku obcym, dziś z powodów zawodowych część z uczniów zmuszona jest do posługiwania się konkretnym językiem specjalistycznym, i to często już na etapie studiów. Mamy tu na myśli na przykład studentów europeistyki, odbywających praktyki w biurze europosłów w instytucjach unijnych, którzy powinni posługiwać się językiem obcym w konkretnych sytuacjach zawodowych. W związku z tym lektoraty na tym kierunku nie powinny ograniczać się jedynie do poznania języka ogólnego, lecz zawierać moduł poświęcony słownictwu, strukturom pojawiającym się w języku Unii Europejskiej oraz dawać możliwość zapoznania się z przykładowymi tekstami pisanymi tą odmianą języka. Artykuł przedstawia koncepcję takiego modułu, cele, jakie zostaną zrealizowane za jego pomocą oraz przykładowe ćwiczenia, które wchodzą w jego skład.
The article describes the constantly changing needs of students learning a foreign language. In the past, teacherʼs job was to introduce general vocabulary or speaking in a foreign language, however today, because of the labour market, many students are forced to speak a specialised language even before completing their studies. What I mean are, for example, students of European Studies doing an internship in MEP ʼs offices in EU institutions, who should use a foreign language in specific professional situations. Therefore, their language classes should not limit themselves to learning only the general language, but also contain a module for vocabulary, structures that appear in the language of the European Union and give an opportunity to read examples of texts written using them. The article presents an idea of such module, goals that will be achieved using it and sample exercises that are included in it.

Opis:
The article deals with the question of university graduates’ employability in Japan. The necessity of acquisition of employability skills by students has been proved. The essence of the notion “employability skills” and their component parts have been revealed. The author analyzes methods with the help of which Japanese Universities achieve the goal of training the skills. The article describes the aim and scale of special Project, held in Japan for training employability skills. The importance of social partnership between universities and industry and internship has been shown. In this context active learning has been gaining its popularity and proved to be successful in motivating students to cognitive activity.
W artykule omówiono kwestię szans zatrudnienia absolwentów wyższych uczelni w Japonii. Wykazano konieczność nabywania przez studentów umiejętności związanych z zatrudnianiem. Podkreślono istotę pojęcia „zdolności do zatrudnienia” i ich części składowych. Autor analizuje metody, dzięki którym japońskie uniwersytety osiągają cel szkolenia umiejętności. W artykule opisano cel i skalę specjalnego projektu, który odbył się w Japonii w celu szkolenia umiejętności związanych z zatrudnieniem. Wykazano znaczenie partnerstwa społecznego między uniwersytetami a przemysłem i stażami. W tym kontekście aktywna nauka zyskuje popularność i okazała się skuteczna w motywowaniu uczniów do aktywności poznawczej.
