    Existence in electronic business has become increasingly difficult. High competition and considerable financial resources needed to enter electronic market are the problems of most micro and small sized enterprises, starting or developing their business. Nevertheless, there is a market niche for them, which can ensure success and grant partial financing of the business. This niche is small web projects, providing the customer with personalized service, hitting his tastes and meeting immediate needs. Projects that large websites are unable to perform. Financial sourcing of those projects comes from EU subsidies, in the framework of the Działanie 8.1. PO IG, 2007-2013.

    Opis:
    The paper is an attempt to cover some of the issues of using information and communication technologies (ICT) in foreign languages teaching and learning (FLT/FLL) on the basis of intercultural approach. The facilities of Internet along with computer programs, audio and video devices, interactive whiteboards and telecommunications are considered. Special attention is given to the peculiarities of telecommunication projects; the example of telecommunication project realization is represented. The advantages and disadvantages of distance language learning are considered. Besides, some diffi culties that students and teachers come across during ICT-supported language education are also discussed. Key words: information and communication technologies (ICT), foreign language teaching and learning (FLT/FLL), computer programs, interactive whiteboards, Internet-based (telecommunication) projects, distance learning.

    Opis:
    Dynamic technological progress is actively influencing the shape of modern education. Inventions that are constantly appearing on the market are often adapted to the needs of schools. One of the technologies that shows special potential in didactics is beacons. Beacons are small devices that can be used for communication, navigation and researching the recipient’s behavior. These functionalities are used in the education process, enabling the creation of completely new learning experiences. According to research, they can be successfully used in the classroom, during the formal learning process, as well as in various institutions, such as in informal transfer of knowledge, for example in cultural institutions. These sensors can contribute to the creation of a dynamic space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, which will automatically respond to the individual needs of the recipient. The main goal of this article is to present the possibility of using beacons in the context of stationary education. The considerations were based on a review of the available literature. The work draws attention not only to the problems of the sensors themselves, but also to the possibility of their cooperation with other technologies. The collaboration of technical tools may contribute to the creation of more comprehensive solutions and, as a result, an increase in the quality and efficiency of the education process. However, as the analysis shows – beacons can be a promising technology in education, but their use is niche. Perhaps in future years, there will be more such solutions that will enable a more accurate assessment of these sensors. The author intends to continue her research to support the adoption of the described technology in Polish educational institutions.

    Opis:
    W artykule przedstawiono problemy z przechowywaniem danych cyfrowych w bibliotekach, które są nie tylko nabywcami danych, ale i ich wytwórcami. Przybliżono wybrane światowe i polskie projekty bezpiecznej i długoterminowej archiwizacji. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność wypracowania ogólnopolskiej strategii i procedur właściwego przechowywania i zarządzania cyfrowymi zasobami, aby zapewnić im długoterminową użyteczność oraz znacząco obniżyć koszty wieczystej archiwizacji.
    The paper presents problems with the storage of digital data in libraries, which are not only the data buyers nowadays, but data manufacturers as well. Selected Polish and international projects on secure long-term archiving are discussed. The authors emphasize the need of developing national strategies and procedures for the appropriate storage environment and digital asset management to ensure the long-term accessibility and usability for the spiraling amounts of digital data and to significantly reduce long-term archiving costs.
