Obserwuje się liczne migracje ludzi i stąd społeczeństwa, a także placówki edukacyjne stają się zróżnicowane kulturowo. Zjawisku wielokulturowości zwykle towarzyszą procesy o charakterze pozytywnym, ale także negatywnym. Procesy adaptacyjno-edukacyjne uczniów wielokulturowych nie zawsze przebiegająwłaściwie. Różnice językowe i kulturowe wpływają na całokształt funkcjonowania dziecka w szkole i często rodzą trudne sytuacje. W Polsce pomoc dzieciom cudzoziemskim organizowana jest zgodnie z prawem oświatowym. Kompetencje kulturowe nauczyciela przejawiające się w postaci postaw i działań, umożliwiają efektywną pracę w sytuacjach międzykulturowych. Nauczyciel edukacji wielokulturowej musi wyjść naprzeciw takim potrzebom i problemom, jak kultywowanie własnej tożsamości, języka i kultury, dialog międzykulturowy, ale także dyskryminacja czy wykluczenie społeczne i kulturowe. Przygotowanie nauczyciela do pracy w grupie wielokulturowej powinno koncentrować na kompetencjach osobowościowych, socjokulturowych, ale także innowacyjnych metodach i formach animacji życia społecznego w środowiskach zróżnicowanych kulturowo.
We can observe many people migrating and that is why societies and educational establishments become culturally diverse. Phenomenon of multiculturalism is very often connected with many processes, positive and negative as well. Adaptive-educational processes of multicultural students are not always correct. Cultural and linguistic differences have an influence on a totality of a child in school and often result in a difficult situations. Help for foreigners’ children in Poland is organized according to education law. A teacher’s cultural abilities that are visible through an attitude and a behaviour enable effective actions in multicultural situations. A teacher of multicultural education has to confront such needs and problems as cultivating somebody’s own identity, language, culture, international dialogue but also discrimination or social and cultural isolation. Training of a teacher who is going to work with a multicultural group should be focused on personality skills, sociocultural skills but also on innovative methods and forms of animating a social life in culturally diverse environment.

Artykuł jest próbą ukazania zakresu znaczeniowego pojęć: wielokulturowość, międzykulturowość, transkulturowość. Więcej uwagi i miejsca poświęcono transkulturowości jako kategorii mniej prezentowanej w analizach i prowadzonych badaniach. Wskazano na wartość kształtujących się subdyscyplin - pedagogiki międzykulturowej i transkulturowej. Przedstawione analizy i formułowane pytania mają na celu spowodowanie dyskusji dotyczącej zakresu i istoty wymienionych pojęć, wymianę poglądów w postrzeganiu i interpretowaniu subdyscyplin, określaniu, co jest w nich wspólne, a co odrębne, czy i jak je kształtować i rozwijać w kontekście złożonej i dynamicznej teraźniejszości oraz zauważanych licznych problemów przyszłości.
The article presents the essence, meaning and the appropriate context of using the terms: multiculturalism, interculturalism and transculturalism. More attention has been paid to the term transculturalism as a category, which is less presented, less analyzed and researched. The value of developing subdisciplines - intercultural and transcultural pedagogy - has been indicated by the authors. The presented analysis and formulated questions have a thought-provoking dimension for the future discussion on the scope and essence of the above-mentioned concepts, the exchange of views on the perception and interpretation of subdisciplines, determining what is common and separate in them, whether and how to shape and develop them in the context of the complex and dynamic present time and the numerous problems of the future.

Opis:
Kronborg Castle in the Danish town of Elsinore is a location strongly associated with Shakespeare thanks to the setting of Hamlet. It is a place where fiction currently eclipses history, at least in the context of a cultural tourist industry where Shakespeare’s name is worth a great deal more than Danish national heritage sites. Indeed, Kronborg is now widely marketed as ‘Hamlet’s Castle’ and the town of Elsinore has acquired the suffix ‘Home of Hamlet’. This article examines the signifiers implied in the naming and renaming of Kronborg as a Shakespearean location, while also looking at its unique international Shakespearean performance tradition, which spans two centuries. It describes how the identity of the castle has been shaped by its Shakespearean connection against the backdrop of changing ideologies in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and poses questions as to how this identity may continue to develop within the current contexts of renewed nationalism in Europe and the world.

Transcultural and Transcorporal Neighbors: Japanese Performance Utopias in  Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba and Phillip B. ZarrilliThis paper is mainly focused on the concept of transcultural bodily knowledge elaborated by Eugenio Barba and Nicola Savarese in their concept of theatre anthropology. Their research on pre-existent and pre-expressive values of the human movement, especially considering Asian theatre and performative practices, will be reexamined in the context of over-imposed interculturalism in Humanities and Social Studies. The focus will be thus put on the modifications of the bodily knowledge in this sense (Yuasa), as well as on the (re)appropriations of the Asian philosophical/theoretical embodiment schemes in the Western thought, not only from the standpoint of performative research made by Eugenio Barba and Phillip B. Zarrilli, but also from the standpoint of Shusterman’s pragmatic reinterpretations of Merleau-Ponty’s legacy, Schechner/Turner’s anthropology of human performativity, etc. In this context, the key idea of unique transcultural background of the human kinesis, employed mainly by Barba, will be put in an overall context of contemporary (trans)cultural utopism. The key element for interpretation will thus be an overall context of Asian martial arts practice, especially the significance of ‘iemoto principle’ (hereditary bodily technique) for the establishment of Grotowski’s, Barba’s and Zarrilli’s psychology and physiology of performance tactics. Transkulturowi i transcieleśni sąsiedzi: japońskie utopie performatywne u Jerzego Grotowskiego, Eugenia Barby i Philipa B. ZarrilliegoArtykuł skupia się głównie na pojęciu transkulturowej wiedzy cielesności, wypracowanym przez Eugenia Barbę i Nicolę Savaresego w ich ujęciu antropologii widowiska. Ich badania nad uprzednimi i przedekspresywnymi wartościami ruchu ludzkiego, zwłaszcza w kontekście teatru azjatyckiego i praktyk performatywnych, zostają wpisane w kontekst nadreprezentowanego w humanistyce i naukach społecznych interkulturalizmu. Uwaga autora skupia się na zmianach w wiedzy cielesnej w tym kierunku (Yuasa), jak też recepcji azjatyckich filozoficznych/teoretycznych schematów wcielania w myśli Zachodu, nie tylko z punktu widzenia badań performatywnych Barby i Zarrilliego, lecz również w Shustermanowych pragmatycznych reinterpretacjach myśli antropologii performatywności Merleau-Pontiego, Schechnera i Turnera itd. W tym kontekście kluczowa idea jednego transkulturowego podłoża ludzkiej kinesis, wykorzystywana głównie przez Barbę, jest wpisana w nowy kontekst współczesnego (trans)kulturowego utopizmu. Zasadniczym elementem interpretacji stają się azjatyckie sztuki walki, zwłaszcza znaczenie zadasy iemoto (dziedzicznej techniki cielesności) w ustanowieniu psychologii i fizjologii taktyk performatywnych u Grotowskiego, Barby i Zarrilliego.

This study comprises an analysis of the school education system in the context of using modern technologies. Its main goal is to present the benefits and limitations associated with the implementation of modern technologies in the school environment. Two fundamental questions will be asked: 1) What are the effects of using new technologies in education, including intercultural education? 2) Can modern technologies pave the way for implementing the ideal of education as an activity aimed primarily at shaping an individual capable of effective and creative adaptation to the social reality in which otherness, including cultural otherness, is common? The authors indicate the types of implemented technologies and assess their impact on adapting students to the extracurricular reality. Referring to the source data and postulates of the contemporary pedagogical and sociological thought, the authors highlight the topicality of the message requiring from the school the activation and development of students’ competencies that will be effectively and creatively implemented in their future professional and social life. It should also be noted that education takes place in cyberspace as well, especially when it is related to the use of modern technologies, which is why great importance should be drawn to cybersecurity.

The article is aimed at drawing attention to the research motifs explored by the author in his studies and, first of all, at raising questions about the sense of research into the Romani identity. An attempt is made here both to suggest some theories and methods which can be useful in identity studies and to signal the difficulties in carrying such research out. The major subject matter of the suggested research projects should address the problems of the Romani identity and culture, this ethnic group’s participation in education, and their specific social and professional activity. What seems to be justified (after a reliable diagnosis of the needs, problems, prospects and possible solutions) is the unceasing need for designing programmes, projects and local policies which address the Roma and which come into being with their participation. However, the activities conducted so far should be subjected to an in-depth analysis and evaluation, also in regard to the specificity of Roma communities from various groups and countries. This might help to indicate the elements of their identity, as well as the level of joint participation in the context of the still incomplete integration with culturally dominating majorities.

The article describes the history of the relics and cult of Josaphat Kuntsevych in Biała Podlaska (ca. 1705-1915) in terms of their significance for the creation of cultural space. After the relics had been transported from Polatsk to Biała Podlaska, they were kept in the chapel of Radziwill Castle, and then from 1764 they were displayed in the Basilian Orthodox church. The analysis of visual forms, musical culture, and religious practices demonstrated the readiness of the Uniate community to adapt and absorb cultural phenomena. The activity of the Basilians contributed to the transmission of elite culture to the whole society. The creation of the cult did not cause barriers for any groups to act either as creators or as recipients. Josaphat Kuntsevych gained popularity among people of different social status, believers of Greek and Latin rites; he was not identified with any ethnic group or nationality.

Szkoła w społeczeństwie wielokulturowym jako miejsce kontaktów z Innymi i wzajemnego oddziaływania różnych grup społecznych zmaga się z różnymi wyzwaniami w realizacji funkcji społecznych. W artykule ukazana została analiza społecznych funkcji edukacji i szkoły w perspektywie koncepcji strukturalno-funkcjonalnej, konfliktowej, interpretatywnej i podejścia środowiskowego. Na tym tle podjęto próbę zarysowania koncepcji pracy szkoły w społeczeństwie wielokulturowym, z uwzględnieniem jakości środowiska, które stanowi ważne zaplecze socjalizacyjne uczniów i opanowania kompetencji kulturowych niezbędnych do sprawnego obcowania z ludźmi pochodzącymi z różnych kultur. Zwrócono uwagę na środowisko rodzinne, lokalne, regionalne, a także na kulturę narodową i ogólnoludzką. Dokonująca się socjalizacja oznacza proces budowania wiedzy uczniów, modelowania ich percepcji świata i działania w tym świecie.
School, as the place of the interaction with others and the interaction of various social groups, struggles with a wide range of challenges to fulfil social functions in a multicultural society. The article shows the analysis of social functions of education and schools in the perspective of the structural-functional, conflict and interpretative approach as well as social approach. On this basis, the author tries to show the concept of school functioning in a multicultural society, taking into account the value of the society that provides an important social basis for students in order to master the cultural skills required for their proper interaction with people from different cultures. What is more, an appropriate attention was given to the family, local and regional environment, national culture and the culture of humanity. Socialisation reflects the process of students’ acquisition of knowledge, their perception of the world and functioning in a modern society.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie wartości pracy w grupach wielokulturowych dla tworzenia zróżnicowanego i korzystnego wychowawczo środowiska edukacyjnego. Współczesna sytuacja migracyjna stanowi wyzwanie dla polskiej szkoły z reguły monokulturowej. Najważniejsze obecnie jest wyposażenie nauczycieli w umiejętności, które pozwolą im rozpoznać i kształtować własne postawy wobec zróżnicowania kulturowego oraz wykorzystać wychowawczo i dydaktycznie pracę w wielokulturowych zespołach. Podstawę mogą stanowić praktyki edukacyjne stosowane w klasach, w których uczą się dzieci romskie. Zdobyte doświadczenia mogą posłużyć do modyfikowania programów studiów nauczycielskich i tworzenia modeli pracy w wielokulturowym środowisku.
The aim of the article is to show the value of work in multicultural groups to create a diverse and beneficial educational learning environment. The contemporary situation of migration is a challenge for Polish, usually monocultural schools. The most important task is now to equip teachers with the skills that will enable them to recognize and develop their own strategies towards cultural diversity and take advantage of educational and didactic work in multicultural teams. The basis for these actions may be educational practices in classes attended by Roma children. The experience gained during these practices can be used to modify university teacher training and to model work in a multicultural environment.

The present article tackles the topic of the status of young people in the multicultural environment. The status of the young people from the indigenous minority determined by them is compared with the evaluation of the minority status by the young people from the majority living in the same environment. This topic is considered relevant for the quality of “intercultural milieu” and the identity of the society living in the particular environment. The objective of the article is to show the changes of the minority status by comparing the opinions in that matter recorded in the years before joining the EU and those expressed in 2010. We consider consequences of the changes in “intercultural approaches” in the particular environment within the integration processes in the EU. The way of presenting the topic is based on the theory of „groups of mutual reference”. The results of the study presented in the article refer to the dimensions of valued resources and opportunities, and in particular opinions of young people considering their availability for the minority, which illustrates the position of group members and their status and prestige. Further, there is a comparison of opinions of young people from minority and majority groups concerning access to resources and opportunities for the indigenous minority group. This shows positioning of the minority, and at the same time establishes the position of majority in the particular environment. The opinions comprise a lot of information about relationships and ways of communication in the society, that is “interculturalism”: “«Status» is a relative position of an individual and thus it depends on the fact who the others are” (Sowa, 1962, p. 59).

Opis:
The Scout and Polish Scouting movement is characterized by the possibility of meeting and cooperation of people from different backgrounds and cultures. A natural thing for this social movement is daily confrontation with Otherness/ Alienness in conditions of cultural diversity and undertaking various forms of educational activity based on the idea of interculturalism. The study presents some partial results of a research project devoted to the content referring to the idea of interculturalism and education in the conditions of cultural diversity, present in the program studies of the scouting movement. These studies contribute to the historical trend of intercultural pedagogy and the history of education in the context of ideological assumptions and activities of children and youth organizations. The article contains a description of the applied conceptual categories and the characteristics of the precursors and the contemporary scouting movement. In a chronological order, it presents a selection of examples of the content of scouting program studies that are related to the idea of interculturalism and intercultural education.
Ruch skautowy i harcerski charakteryzuje możliwość spotkania i współpracy osób wywodzących się z różnych środowisk i kultur. Naturalną rzeczą jest w nim codzienna konfrontacja z Innością/Obcością w warunkach zróżnicowania kulturowego oraz podejmowanie różnych form aktywności edukacyjnej opartej na idei międzykulturowości. Od chwili powstania swej organizacji skauci i harcerze realizowali zadania wpisujące się we współczesne rozumienie edukacji międzykulturowej, oparte na ogólnych zasadach Prawa skautowego, które zakładają szacunek do innych i współpracę z nimi w duchu braterstwa, solidarności i tolerancji. W komunikacie z badań zostały przedstawione cząstkowe wyniki realizacji projektu badawczego poświęconego treściom nawiązującym do idei międzykulturowości oraz edukacji w warunkach zróżnicowania kulturowego, występującym w opracowaniach programowych ruchu skautowego i harcerskiego. Badania te stanowią przyczynek do historycznego nurtu pedagogiki międzykulturowej oraz historii wychowania w kontekście założeń ideowych i działalności organizacji dzieci i młodzieży. Artykuł zawiera opis wykorzystanych kategorii pojęciowych, charakterystykę prekursorów oraz współczesnego ruchu skautowego i harcerskiego. W układzie chronologicznym został w nim przedstawiony wybór przykładów treści skautowych i harcerskich opracowań programowych, które wiążą się z ideą międzykulturowości i edukacji międzykulturowej.

Publikacja to monografia zbiorowa, która powstała w związku z rosnącą falą prześladowań na tle religijnym, szczególnie chrześcijan, nie tylko na całym świecie, lecz także w Europie, również w Polsce. Autorzy poszczególnych rozdziałów monografii jasno artykułują prawa religijne, konieczność ich respektowania oraz wskazują na ich źródła. W recenzowanej publikacji znalazło się określenie zarówno aktualnego odniesienia do praw wolności religijnej, jak i przyczyn i skutków łamania tych praw, nie tylko przez jednostki, lecz także reprezentantów różnych ruchów społecznych czy nawet instytucji państwowych. Publikacja jest próbą wypracowania koncepcji racjonalnych usprawnień w kontekście wolności religijnej i zakazu dyskryminacji wyrażania religijnych przekonań.
The publication is a collective monograph, which was created in connection with the growing wave of religious persecution, especially of Christians, not only around the world but also in Europe, including Poland. The authors of the individual chapters of the monograph aim to clearly articulate religious rights, the need to respect them, and point to their sources. The reviewed publication includes a definition of the current reference to the rights of religious freedom, as well as the causes and consequences of violations of these rights, not only by individuals, but also by representatives of various social movements or even state institutions. The publication is an attempt to develop the concept of reasonable accommodation in the context of religious freedom and the prohibition of discrimination against the expression of religious beliefs.

Polish Scene and the Czech Scene of the Theatre in Czech Cieszyn
Opis:
W artykule poddano analizie dwujęzyczny dramaturgiczno-inscenizacyjny wspólny projekt Sceny Polskiej i České scény (Sceny Czeskiej) Těšínského divadla (Teatru Cieszyńskiego) w Českém Těšíně (Czeskim Cieszynie) pn. Těšínské niebo Cieszyńskie nebe. Ten muzyczny „sentymentalny rajd tramwajowy – sentymentální tramvajová rallye” przez wieki po wielokulturowym regionie i wielokulturowym mieście był – zgodnie z zamierzeniem realizatorów przedsięwzięcia: Jaromíra Nohavicy, Renaty Putzlacher, Radovana Lipusa, Tomaša Kočko – „próbą spojrzenia na cieszyńską ziemię przez pryzmat minionych lat i zdarzeń, pełną nostalgii i humoru, z przywołaniem związanych z tym regionem postaci prawdziwych i mitycznych”1. Próbą przeprowadzoną zgodnie z przyjętą przez autorów projektu nadrzędną, zainspirowaną przez ideę euroregionu, zasadą eksponowania tego, co społeczność pogranicza łączyło/łączy i w efekcie tworzy płaszczyznę wartości wspólnych, a nie tego, co dzieliło/dzieli. Poszukiwanie wspólnych elementów kultury, podobieństw dziejów okazało się tutaj zbieżne z założeniami edukacji międzykulturowej. Przyjętą opcję postrzegania polsko-czeskich pogranicznych dziejów oraz wizję współistnienia obu narodów w Cieszyńskim determinował nadto fakt przyjęcia obu państw w struktury Unii Europejskiej (premiera spektaklu 15 maja 2004 roku). Z tej perspektywy została skonstruowana materia następujących po sobie sekwencji spektaklu i wyłaniała się koncepcja człowieka pogranicza jako człowieka pełniejszego, bo wzbogaconego duchowo innością drugiego. Przedstawienie współuczestniczyło w podejmowanym po 1989 roku procesie formowania odpowiednio wysokiego poziomu zbiorowej tożsamości lokalnej, regionalnej oraz euroregionalnej społeczności zamieszkujących oba miasta graniczne i oba przygraniczne obszary.
What was subjected to analysis in the presented study is the bilingual stage project of the Polish Scene and the Czech Scene of the Cieszyn Theatre in Czech Cieszyn entitled Těšínské niebo Cieszyńskie nebe /Cieszyn Skies/ (first staged on 15th May 2004). In compliance with the intentions of the undertakers: Jaromír Nohavica, Renata Putzlacher, Radovan Lipus, Tomaš Kočko, this musical “sentimental tramway trip” through ages in the multicultural region and town was “an attempt at viewing the area of Cieszyn through the past years and events – an attempt full of nostalgia and humour as well as references to real and mythical figures associated with this region”50. This was carried out according to the superior principle, applied by the authors of the project and inspired by the idea of the Euroregion, of exposing what has been linking the borderland community (and results in a platform of common values) and not what has been dividing it. The search for common elements of culture and historical similarities has turned out to be compliant with the assumptions of intercultural education. The applied option of viewing the Polish-Czech borderland history and the vision of coexistence of both nationalities in the area of Cieszyn have been also determined by joining the structures of the European Union (the opening took place on 15th May 2004). It was from this perspective that the consecutive sequences of the spectacle were constructed, unveiling the concept of the borderland man as a more complete person – spiritually enriched with the dissimilarity of the other. The spectacle has contributed to the process (started in 1989) of forming appropriately high collective local, regional and Euroregional awareness of the community inhabiting both borderland towns and regions.

W naukach pedagogicznych zawsze ważne miejsce zajmowała dyskusja o roli instytucji zajmujących się rodzinami patogennymi. Takie cechy niewątpliwie reprezentuje większość rodzin, z których wywodzą się dzisiejsi skazani, szczególnie wielokrotni sprawcy przestępstw. Pojawia się pytanie o rolę instytucji w hamowaniu procesu dewiacji zachowań dzieci w okresie ich socjalizacji, ale także istotne są teoretyczne i praktyczne implikacje tych działań. Tocząca się dyskusja obejmuje kwestie inkluzji lub ekskluzji jako bieguny działań interwencyjnych, opiekuńczych czy resocjalizacyjnych. W tej perspektywie prowadzone rozważania podejmują zagadnienie postrzegania roli instytucji zewnętrznych, w swoim życiu dzisiejszych skazanych. Poddano analizie wywiady prowadzone zarówno z Polakami, recydywistami penitencjarnymi oraz z cudzoziemcami, również przebywającymi w polskich zakładach karnych. Badania koncentrowały się na rekonstrukcji ich socjalizacji przypadającej na lata 70., 80. i 90. XX wieku, w różnych warunkach kultury i organizacji społeczeństw. Celem badań była próba uchwycenia roli instytucji wspomagających rodzinę, w perspektywie doświadczeń tych respondentów, wywodzących się z odmiennych społeczeństw.
Reflections over the role of institutions dealing with pathological families have been always of great importance for pedagogical sciences. Such dysfunctional features are typical for the majority of those families from which today's prisoners come from, particularly re-offenders. Hence, the question arising about the role of the institutions in inhabiting the deprivation process among children upon their socialization, with the theoretical and practical implications of such activities. Therefore, the discourse embraces the issues of inclusion and exclusion as bipolar perspectives of intervention, nursing and resocialisational activities. Reflections undertaken from such angles consider the role of external institutions in the lives of today’s prisoners. The interviews carried out with Polish as well as foreign recidivist prisoners have been analyzed on the basis of the reconstruction of their socialisation that took place in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, in different cultural conditions and society organisation. The aim of the research was to capture the role of the institutions supporting families from the perspective of the respondents’ experience, regardless of their social background.
