    Opis:
    The paper attempts to analyse, as to how distance education mechanisms can be effectually used for sustainability in areas of the human environment, health and management of the natural resources. Short review of methodological experiences in education of knowledge-based society for common action with experts for promotion sustainable development is based on over 20 years activity in this field of the AGH Open University and the Open Seminars on Sustainable Development and ca. 40 years of informal, problem-solving education in linkage with interdisciplinary case studies. Further this model will be sustainable in terms of clean technology used, for the benefit of the human environment and better quality of life. The concept is related to long-term international cooperation of the Polish author (e.g. from 1983 with Indian scientists) on human ecology, medical elementology, ecotoxicology and biotechnology as well as future requirements of the National Open University in India.
    Artykuł stanowi próbę oceny możliwości zastosowania mechanizmów edukacji na odległość w celu skutecznej promocji zrównoważonych działań w dziedzinach środowiska człowieka, zdrowia i oszczędnej gospodarki zasobami przyrody. Zwięzły przegląd doświadczeń metodycznych w zakresie edukacji społeczeństwa opartego na wiedzy nawiązuje do ponad 20-letniej działalności w tym zakresie Uniwersytetu Otwartego AGH oraz Otwartego Seminarium nt. Zrównoważonego Rozwoju, a także do 40-letniej nieformalnej edukacji ukierunkowanej na rozwiązywanie problemów w powiązaniu z badaniami interdyscyplinarnymi. Model ten służy zrównoważonemu rozwojowi, ponieważ promuje technologie proekologiczne pożyteczne dla środowiska człowieka i wpływające na poprawę jakości życia. Nawiązuje on też do wieloletniej międzynarodowej współpracy polskiego współautora (m.in. od 1983 r. z indyjskimi naukowcami) w zakresie ekologii człowieka, elementologii medycznej, ekotoksykologii i biotechnologii oraz potrzeb rozwojowych Narodowego Uniwersytetu Otwartego w Indiach.

    In today’s world, the knowledge of employees of the enterprise or company is its strategic resource, so the process of knowledge management and maintaining their relevance is becoming increasingly important. The quarantine restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic necessitated the transfer of vocational and safety training to an online format in search of methods that would bring it as close as possible to the offline format.
    W dzisiejszym świecie wiedza pracowników przedsiębiorstwa czy firmy jest jego strategicznym zasobem, dlatego proces zarządzania wiedzą i utrzymywania jej aktualności nabiera coraz większego znaczenia. Ograniczenia kwarantannowe nałożone przez pandemię Covid-19 wymusiły przeniesienie szkoleń zawodowych i BHP do formatu online w poszukiwaniu metod, które zbliżyłyby je jak najbardziej do warunków formatu offline.

    Opis:
    Electromagnetic theoretical concepts, which are represented mathematically, are usually challenging to grasp by students. In this study, we explore an interactive technology-based teaching tool to develop further students’ mastery of electromagnetic concepts through learning development and visualization of electromagnetic problems. This visualization of the problems will help students analyse, evaluate, and draw conclusions of the impact of electromagnetic-related problems in real-life. The simulation tool in this study is based on a MATLAB® toolbox package, in which partial-differential equations (PDE) solver is the core engine. In this paper, we will also provide a step-by-step guide on the use of such an interactive computer-aided tool so that it can be a great self-guide tool for beginners in the field of physics and a first-level introductory course in electromagnetism. This study will focus mainly on one classical electrostatic problem that is a challenge to students to visualize, analyze and evaluate. Based on students feedback by the end of the course, 80% of students’ population are more comfortable with the introduced interactive learning tool.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest wykorzystanie kursu Olive Green do samodzielnej nauki słownictwa w języku obcym. Można go uznać za innowacyjne narzędzie, ponieważ jednocześnie jest filmem interaktywnym, grą oraz platformą e-learningową. Wspomniane elementy nie były dostępne wcześniej dostępne na taką skalę w innych interaktywnych kursach językowych. We wstępie odniesiono się do zjawiska rozwoju technologicznego i jego wpływu na dziedzinę edukacji. Następnie omówiono powody istotności uczenia się słownictwa. W głównej części artykułu została przedstawiona analiza kursu Olive Green. Omówiono pokrótce program SuperMemo, który jest jednym z komponentów wspominanego narzędzia. W dalszej części dokonano analizy takich aspektów, jak funkcjonalność, interaktywności i gamifikacja w kursie. Kolejno omówiono sposoby samodzielnej nauki słownictwa przy wykorzystaniu różnych elementów kursu. Dokonano analizy przydatności list ze słownictwem, MemoKart, napisów w filmie interaktywnym oraz pozostałych ćwiczeń leksykalnych. Uwzględniono również sposoby, w jaki kurs umożliwia weryfikację i przetwarzanie nowo poznanego słownictwa. W podsumowaniu przedstawiono zalety wykorzystania kursu Olive Green do nauki słownictwa w języku obcym.
    This article offers a descriptive analysis of the Olive Green course for innovative self-directed vocabulary learning in a foreign language. It can be considered as an innovative tool since it integrates an interactive film, a game and an e-learning platform. These elements have not previously been available so broadly in other interactive language courses. In the introduction, the phenomenon of technological development and its impact on education is described. Next, the importance of learning vocabulary is discussed. The main part of the article presents an analysis of the Olive Green course. The SuperMemo programme, which is one of its components, is briefly described. In the following section, functionality, interactivity and gamification of the Olive Green course are discussed. Subsequently, ways of self-directed vocabulary learning with the use of various course features are analysed. The discussion of how the course enables the verification and processing of vocabulary is also included. The summary presents the advantages of using the Olive Green course to foster vocabulary learning in a foreign language.

    Artykuł poświęcony jest interaktywnej i animowanej "małej kartografii" internetowej. Na początku przedstawiono charakterystykę tego rodzaju map oraz omówiono najczęściej spotykane opracowania. W dalszej części autor skupia uwagę na problemach redakcyjnych. Za najważniejszą przyczynę trudności opracowania efektywnej mapy autor uważa nieokreśloną grupę odbiorców. Ten czynnik określa mianem rafy "małej kartografii" internetowej. Jako przykład problemów redakcyjnych podaje opracowanie mapy Granice Rzeczypospolitej przeznaczonej do e-learningu realizowanego przez warszawskie Muzeum Pałac w Wilanowie.
    Increasing number of maps published on the Internet, which can be considered electronic equivalents of 'small cartography', brings on a discussion on the topie of such publications and their practical uses. Internet 'small cartography' are, generally speaking, maps addressed to wide audience, and they usually illustrate a text. Such maps are comprehensible and characterized by a relatively Iow level of interactivity. They are often quite advanced graphically and their contents is presented synthetically rather than analytically. They display high level of generalization. Maps which constitute internet 'small cartography' can be divided into four groups: 1) maps on the internet information sites including sites of magazines and TV stations, 2) maps on weather forecast sites, 3) maps on popular science sites, 4) maps on other sites including those of institutions, organizations, services, products, events, etc. This division is strictly conventional and is not an attempt at classification. Because of an undefined group of readers, elaboration of a successful internet map requires advanced skills, wide knowledge and experience on the side of a cartographer who doesn't know his audience. Graphic hierarchy and esthetic sense are essential for the optimization of such comprehensible map. During the editing process the author should consider if the map's efficiency can be sacrificed to make it comprehensible. Skillful use of interactivity is another factor which affects comprehensibility. Vector graphics became the unquestioned standard of elaboration and publication of interactive online maps. Flash is the most widespread technology applied for interactive and animated maps, which constitute the internet 'small cartography'. Difficulties in preparation of internet 'smali cartography' can be seen in an example of problems which emerged during the elaboration of the map titled Granice Rzeczypospolitej (Borders of the Republic) destined for e-learning project of Wilanów Palace Museum in 2007 (http://www.wilanow-palac.pl/index.php?id =982&menuid=227). Editing of internet 'small cartography' maps is a seemingly simple task. However, those preparing an internet map should not only have wide geographic knowledge, be familiar with cartographic methodology and have experience, but should also know computer techniques, most of all graphic programs. The key to an effective and visually attractive map is the esthetic sense without which the elaboration of a 'fine' map is impossible. Cartography is, at the same time, a science, an art and a craft and the internet 'small cartography' confirms this view. Without acknowledging it a proper map cannot be created. This is the reason why it is so difficult to prepare a good online map and why so few of them can be considered successful.
