The contemporary problems and issues of environmental protection refer to a large extent to problems related – generally speaking – to energy. Currently, the production processes mainly concern the combustion of energy fuels, transport – over long distances, and their use for utility purposes, e.g. engine drive or heating. These processes significantly negatively impact the environment and are magnified by their enormous intensity and size. While energy production and transport processes have been studied for many years, and their results are widely published, the issues related to the application and operation of heating devices are little known and require much observation and research. The operating indicators of heating devices are generally characterized by low values (natural convection), and their artificial increase (intensity) cannot be used due to the acoustic effects and additional (significant) investment costs. The article presents some research results on the intensification of heat flow – i.e. the thermal efficiency of flat heaters placed in a room with a specific temperature. Physical phenomena were investigated numerically by shaping the heat exchange space. The tested systems concerned a room with a free-standing heater, a heater with a vertical panel mounted in parallel, and a system with a curved bottom plate forming the so-called de Laval nozzle. Interesting results of air velocity and temperature fields and values of the heat transfer coefficient along the height of the heater were obtained. Based on the presented research, it can be concluded that the creation of convection surfaces around the heater is advisable because it affects the intensity of heat exchange, which can be increased without energy-intensive energy expenditure, i.e. in a non-mechanical way. Undoubtedly contributes positively to investment and operating costs, which is essential in environmental protection issues.

Currently is the biggest problem of metallurgical companies the increase of fossil fuel prices and strict environmental regulations. As a result of this, companies must look for alternatives that would reduce the amount of fossil fuels and reduce emissions. Wood sawdust has huge energy potential, which can be used in the process of agglomerate production. This type of energy is locally available, has some similar properties as fossil fuels and is economically advantageous. For these reasons, experimental study using laboratory agglomeration pan was realized to study the possibility of agglomerate production with a mixed fuel. Experimental results show the viability of mixed fuel use in the agglomeration process, but also show significant possibility for improvement. The maximum acceptable substitution ratio, which corresponds to qualitatively suitable agglomerate is 20% of pine sawdust. Based on the realized experiments and the obtained results we have acceded to the intensification of the agglomeration process with an objective to increase the amount of added substitution fuel while maintaining the required quality of agglomerate.

This paper deals with deintensification and its exponents in two closely related languages: Polish and Slovak. Despite a considerable interest of researchers in the phenomenon of intensification, it is relatively understudied in the Polish-Slovak contrastive perspective. The author focuses on the basic indicators of deintensification, which include grammatical and lexical attenuators. The study compares Polish and Slovak affixes with a weakening function and examines adverbial lexemes in the function of deintensifiers.
Tematyka artykułu dotyczy dezintensyfikacji i sposobów jej wyrażania w dwóch bliskopokrewnych systemach językowych: polskim i słowackim. Pomimo dużego zainteresowania badaczy zjawiskiem intensyfikacji zagadnienie to pozostaje mało zbadane w aspekcie konfrontatywnym polsko-słowackim. Autorka zwraca uwagę na podstawowe wykładniki dezintensyfikacji, do których należą atenuatory gramatyczne i leksykalne. Porównuje polskie i słowackie afiksy o funkcji osłabiającej i przedstawia leksemy o proweniencji przysłówkowej, które odgrywają rolę dezintensyfikatorów.

The experimental research of heat transfer due to impingement of a single microjet of water and air has been studied on a specially designed rig. Systematic data on radial wall temperature distribution were collected, which enabled development of empirical correlation for heat transfer coefficient applicable both for air and water flows. Two microjet nozzle diameters were studied, i.e. 180 and 260 ěm. The correlation describing the heat transfer coefficient was later used in validation of a model of a single microjet impinging on a flat plate, developed earlier by the authors. Such analytical model of microjet is of a great value in future analysis as it enables to carry out for example sensitivity tests or to appropriately select operational parameters. The presented model is quite general and its further modifications are possible when some of the imposed assumptions are relaxed. More experiments on the structure of a single microjet are needed which will confirm the correlation presented in the paper.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę intensyfikacji wykorzystania infrastruktury sieciowej, która stanowi alternatywę dla jej rozbudowy. Konieczność jej realizacji wynika bezpośrednio z krajowych uwarunkowań: formalno-prawnych, środowiskowych, społecznych, technicznych i ekonomicznych związanych z realizacją procesu inwestycyjnego dla inwestycji sieciowych. Intensyfikacja wykorzystania infrastruktury sieciowej polega na: odpowiedniej lokalizacji źródeł wytwórczych i odbiorców likwidującej ograniczenia przesyłowe, modernizacji istniejących linii i stacji elektroenergetycznych zwiększających ich zdolności przesyłowe oraz wdrożeniu obciążalności dynamicznej, która pozwala na zwiększenie możliwości obciążeniowych istniejących linii przy uwzględnieniu rzeczywistych warunków atmosferycznych otoczenia przewodów roboczych. Przeanalizowano różnorodne aspekty dotyczące modernizacji napowietrznych linii elektroenergetycznych polegające na realizacji takich działań jak: zastosowanie przewodów wysokotemperaturowych o małych zwisach, budowa nowej linii lub dodatkowego toru w istniejącym korytarzu w terenie, zastosowanie systemów monitoringu obciążalności prądowej linii oraz wykonanie określonych zabiegów modernizacyjnych. Stwierdzono, że zastosowanie przewodów wysokotemperaturowych stwarza bardzo duże możliwości zwiększenia obciążalności termicznych linii napowietrznych bez istotnych zmian w rozwiązaniach konstrukcyjnych starych linii, natomiast zastosowanie systemów monitoringu obciążalności prądowej linii umożliwia uwzględnienie zmienności ich obciążalności termicznych i stanowi sposób okresowego zwiększenia obciążalności gałęzi sieci. Obciążenia dynamiczne, w przypadku linii napowietrznych, zależą od lokalnych warunków atmosferycznych, a ich wartości maksymalne mogą przekraczać kilkakrotnie wartości obciążalności statycznych, uwzględniających jedynie zmienność sezonową tych warunków. Monitoring linii napowietrznych stanowi jedną z najbardziej atrakcyjnych możliwości intensyfikacji wykorzystania zdolności przesyłowych istniejącej infrastruktury sieciowej w Krajowym Systemie Elektroenergetycznym. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę procesu intensyfikacji wykorzystania infrastruktury sieciowej i omówiono szeroko rozwiązania, które są lub mogą być stosowane w Krajowym Systemie Elektroenergetycznym. Mają one zasadniczy wpływ na proces rozwoju infrastruktury sieciowej realizowany przy uwzględnieniu zasady zrównoważonego rozwoju.
In this paper, intensification of network infrastructure utilization is achieved, which is alternative to the expansion of the network infrastructure. The necessity of its implementation results directly from the national conditionings: formal-legal, environmental, social, technical and economical connected with the execution of the investment process for network investments. The intensification of network infrastructure utilization depends on: the proper location of power generation sources and electricity consumers eliminating transmission constraints, modernization of existing power lines and power substations increasing their transmission capacity and the implementation of a dynamic current-carrying capacity which allows for increasing the possibilities of the transmission capacity for existing lines when taking the real atmospheric conditions of the environment of operating conductors into consideration. Various aspects referred to the modernization of overhead power lines, which rely on such undertakings as: the utilization of high-temperature conductors with small sags, the construction of new line or additional path in the existing corridor in the ground, the utilization of systems for the monitoring of current-carrying capacity of the line and the execution of specified modernized operations are analyzed. It is ascertained that the use of high-temperature conductors creates large possibilities of increasing the thermal capacity of overhead power lines without essential changes in the constructional solutions of old power lines and the use of systems for the monitoring of current-carrying capacity of lines enables their thermal capacity variability to be regarded and it is a way of seasonally increasing the thermal capacity of the network branches. The dynamic current-carrying capacities for overhead power lines depend on the local atmospheric conditions and their maximum values can exceed the values of static current-carrying capacities several times when it takes only the seasonal variability of their conditions into consideration. Monitoring the current-carrying capacity of lines is one of the best attractive possibilities for intensifying transmission capacities utilization for the existing network infrastructure in National Electric Power System (NEPS). In this paper, the intensification process profile of network infrastructure utilization is performed and solutions which are or can presently be used in NEPS are widely discussed. They have fundamental influence on the network infrastructure expansion process, which takes the principle of sustainable development into account.

The aim of the study is to present the issues of research on sustainable intensification of the agriculture, in the specific context of the European Union and to present research procedure for such study. Proposed framework is based on the use of Eurostat data, to conduct efficiency (DEA) and productivity (Malmquist TFP index) analysis, to estimate the sustainable intensification index. Further structural determinants of this process might be assessed by means of panel regression. On the basis of the literature review carried out, the study may be limited to testing the impact of concentration, specialisation and orientation of agricultural production. As control variables, those describing endogenous, exogenous and institutional conditions should be included in the study.

The paper discusses the concept of intensification: the increase of features, states, processes, subordination to the broader concept of intensity which concerns also the weakening of those semantic values. The subject matter here is the absolute intensity, one that is different from the relative gradation of adjectives and adverbs. A adjectives and adverbs are subject to such intensification a fact that points to parametric features and are connected with number and measure (bardzo dużo [a great deal of], bardzo małe [very small], bardzo długie [very long], bardzo szerokie [very wide]), that denote coming to look somehow (bardzo wyładnieć [to become very pretty], bardzo zbrzydnąć [to become very ugly]), adjectives, adverbs, verbal nouns meaning human feelings and sensations (bardzo się cieszyć [to be very happy about sth], bardzo się martwić [to be very worried], wielki niepokój [great anxiety], wielki ból [great pain]) or evaluating (bardzo dobrze [very well], bardzo zdolny [very talented], bardzo ładny [very pretty], wielka podłość [great meanness], wielka zbrodnia [great crime]), verbs dealing with such activities as oszukiwać (deceive), kręcić (cheat), poświęcać się (sacrifice oneself), and also noun derivatives such as krętacz (cheater), leń (idler), patriota (patriot). Intensification may be indirect, as in the case of expressions with adjectives and adverbs with parametric features, e.g. bardzo szeroki (very wide) is “much wider than the norm” (here intensification refers directly to the comparative, and not to the basic form of the adjective). The semantics of the expression with the verb meaning becoming is similar, e.g. bardzo wyładnieć (to become very pretty) means “to become much prettier than in the past.” In the direct intensification the intensifier informs directly than something is more intense than it follows from the intensified lexem, cf. e.g. Piotr bardzo się cieszy (Piotr is very pleased).

The paper presents a comparative analysis of the results of radial drilling, drilling perforation, cumulative reperforation and acid treatment. The study was focused at carbonate deposits in Russia. For each technology average incremental oil rates were estimated at the same exploration targets. The analysis of technological effectiveness in the given geologic and physical conditions revealed that drilling perforation and radial drilling allow reaching higher incremental oil rates compared to acid treatment and cumulative perforation. This fact confirms effectiveness of drilling radial canals by enlarging infiltration area. For the sake of completion radial drilling and drilling perforation are performed in the same wells. To reveal limiting conditions of applying radial drilling and drilling perforation an effectiveness analysis is made depending on the thickness of the interlayers exposed. To formulate criteria of radial exposing applicability an analysis of effects of different geological and physical formation parameters on geological and engineering operations effectiveness is done. The following parameters are considered: relation between the current formation pressure and initial formation pressure, formation permeability, skin factor, thickness of interlayers in overall perforation interval, thickness of interlayers exposed by radial canals.

Main attention is focused on heat exchanger design with reduced size of passages, namely based on microchannels. In authors’ opinion, future development of high power heat exchangers will be based on networks of micro heat exchangers.

This paper analyses the comments of internet users related to the news about the end of the world on the 21st of December, 2012. We consider which linguistic constructions allow fear to intensify. We indicate a semantic model of intensification which corresponds to the causative construction: Si Intens causes Si intens [very p (quality / condition)] causes [very q (act / new condition)], constituting the basis for the linguistic expression of fear. Because the end of the world is an unimaginable event, it causes fear – a primary and universal emotion. Surfers exploit various (formal, lexical, graphic, etc.) procedures which provide an opportunity for the feelings of fear to intensify. The intensification of the cause (approaching end of the world) provokes an intensification of the consequence (feeling of fear). The analysis is part of the work of the research group DiSEM (Discourse Semantics Inference) composed of researchers from the Pedagogical University of Cracow.

In the paper, new trends in development of micro power generation of heat and electricity are presented. New type of CHP for domestic usage is developed in the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery PAS and methods of its design are presented. The most promising trends in equipment of ORC cycle for this purpose were discussed. Main attention was focused on micro-heat exchangers design based on micro-channels and micro-jets. In our opinion future development of high power heat exchangers will be based on nets micro-heat exchangers.

Modernisation of the power plants of cargo fleet vessels to satisfy the requirements set out by the International Maritime Organisation is an urgent scientific and technical problem. The article presents the results of developing a solution to this problem that focuses on the exhaust gas system. We propose the use of ejection nozzles as part of this system. It was found that when the ejection coefficient in these nozzles is n = 3, it is possible to exclude the use of SCR reactors, thus reducing the operating costs of the marine power plant. Using a mathematical modelling method, the efficiency of operation of six types of nozzle as part of the exhaust gas system was investigated, and a constructive layout was proposed for the gas ducts and inlet louvres for supplying ambient air. To increase the efficiency of the proposed system, we consider several options for intensifying heat transfer processes through the use of dimple systems in the nozzles and nozzles with swirling flow. We found that these technical solutions would make it possible to further increase the efficiency of the systems by up to 19% abs.

This article discusses the ability of the Cellular Automata (CA) Markov method to project rice sufficiency by considering the conversion of massive rice fields, such as the ones in Indonesia. The conversion of rice fields into land use for non-farming due to the rapidly growing population, industry and economic needs is increasingly affecting the rice self-sufficiency. With the development of remote sensing techniques, such as CA Markov, which has been used for years in spatial change projection, there is a need to assess the rice field conversion and its impact on the rice field self-sufficiency. The process is not solely based on CA Markov but also includes an object-based classification method utilising multi-temporal spot image data to derive land use maps, CA Markov for rice field conversion projection and rice self-sufficiency assessment, which was developed by assessing the availability of rice, consumption and production. Using the Indramayu district as the study area, the results indicate that within the next 20 years, the rice field area will decrease, and the impact on rice self-sufficiency will be 5.34 for Business as usual (BAU) and 0.47 when considering population growth. The previous research validated the results and indicated the efficiency of this method for rice self-sufficiency projection. Moreover, a management assessment was also conducted and indicated that in order to maintain rice self-sufficiency, innovation in the planting and seed systems as well as in farmers’ welfare management, such as incentives and subsidies, local food diversification systems and innovative food technique development to support food diversification, should be considered.

Opis:
The growing body of literature on intensifiers enables us to circumscribe the scope of the phenomenon more accurately and to identify rigorously its linguistic realizations. Yet, the latter are clearly underrepresented or inconsistently treated both in general dictionaries and in textbooks. That is why the need arises to work up a dictionary devoted to means of intensification so that it can serve as a tool to students of French. Rather than simply listing these means, it should be conceived of as a lexicongrammar enabling users both to vary particular forms and to respect syntactic and combinatory constraints. Additionally, it should account for when registers can be conveniently switched. The present paper aims at giving some hints on how such a disctionary should be prepared.
