This article is an introduction to the issue of integrating rail transport with the local public transport system in the Urban Functional Area of Olsztyn. It presents the definition of the said area and the current information on the possibilities of rail transport within it, derived from strategic documents and public debate. This is followed by a detailed description of the technical conditions of the railway infrastructure in the Urban Functional Area of Olsztyn, taking into account investments carried out in recent years, those in progress and those planned, as well as a description of the rail transport services provided. Th e final part of the article presents the principles of operation of public transport in Poland and some Polish examples of organisational integration. Th e authors intend to continue the discussion in a further publication.

Th is article presents the possibilities of increasing the role of railways in the public transport system of the Urban Functional Area of Olsztyn. First, the proposed extent of the rail service, the assumptions for the new transport off er and the principles for the development of the rail timetable were outlined. Taking into account the current state of the infrastructure, the feasibility of implementing the basic transport off er (10 pairs of trains per day) and its further development in the future was examined for each direction of transport, and graphical timetables were drawn up and presented, based on the assumption of cyclical departures (i.e. clock-face schedule for train departures). Part of the article is also devoted to measures in the area of bus transport in terms of organisation and infrastructure, which, if taken, would make it possible to better integrate it with the railway system. Taking into account the observations and conclusions in the previous chapters, the proposed investment activities involving the railway infrastructure necessary to implement and improve regional rail services, as well as a broader perspective on further investments enabling the development of the transport off er and increasing rail accessibility in the Urban Functional Area of Olsztyn, are presented. Th e main conclusion of the analyses carried out is the confi rmation of the feasibility of implementing a cyclical timetable in the area under study for the assumed base number of connections.

The article deals with the key success factors of integrated transport system from the passenger’s point of view, what is the most important for passenger’s decision to choose the public passenger transport, how the services of integrated transport system can be competitive with an individual automobile transport. The article will define the key factors of successful integrated transportsystem. The solutions will be implemented in the region of Slovakia and it will be pointed out which problems have been identified in the conditions of preparing integrated transport system in Slovakia. The conditions will be compared with the conditions in other countries in which unlike Slovakia the integrated transport systems are successfully operated. Also there will be suggested the mechanisms how the process of integration should be realized in the conditions of Slovakia.

W artykule zaprezentowano różne pojęcia systemu transportowego również w odniesieniu do przestrzeni miejskiej. Rozważania dotyczące systemu transportowego ujęte zostały w trzech grupach, pierwsza z nich dotyczyła określeń o uniwersalnym charakterze, druga pojęć związanych z koncepcją tzw. zintegrowanego systemu transportowego, a w trzeciej grupie przedstawiono pojęcia zgodne z ogólną teorią systemów. Następnie zaprezentowano podział transportu zarówno w ujęciu gałęziowych jak i rodzajowym, który jest pojęciowo bardzo często mylone właśnie z podziałem gałęziowym. Podział rodzajowy transportu przeprowadzono pod kątem różnych kryteriów. W ostatniej części prezentowanego materiału przedstawiono rozważania dotyczące metodologii badań miasta oraz scharakteryzowano Obszar Metropolitarny Warszawy.
The article presents the different concepts of the transport system also in relation to the urban space. Considerations transport systems have been included in the three groups, the first of which concerned the terms of universal character, the other concepts related to the concept of the so-called. integrated transport system and in the third group is shown in accordance with the general concept of systems theory. Then they present the breakdown of transport, both in terms of branch and generic, which is conceptually very often confused with the branch transport. Distribution of generic transport was carried out at an angle different criteria. The last part of the material presented describes considerations for the research methodology of the city and characterized Metropolitan Area Warsaw.

The paper is focused on the proposal regarding the regional transport organization within Integrated Transport System in a given territory using the selected multi-criteria analysis methods. Introductory parts of this research study include basic information related to this topic as well as description of the current state of the public passenger transport operation, specifically the Integrated Transport System,on a particular territory. Subsequent part of the paper consists of specification of all the data and methods used and applied to obtain the final outcomes. The most important part of the paper highlights all the acquired results and proposed recommendations that need to be established to achieve the more appropriate regional transport organization in the examined territory.

Odrębność organizacyjno-prawna organizatorów publicznego transportu zbiorowego oraz możliwość samodzielnego dezydowania o sposobie organizacji, realizacji i finansowania przewozów sprzyja powstawaniu systemów transportowych, które nie są ze sobą zintegrowane. W rezultacie na tych samych lub powiązanych ze sobą rynkach transportowych występuje zróżnicowanie taryf, brak koordynacji rozkładów jazdy różnych środków transportu, nieefektywne wykorzystanie potencjału oraz infrastruktury transportowej. Taka sytuacja obniża konkurencyjność transportu zbiorowego względem transportu indywidualnego i przyczynia się do spadku popytu na usługi transportu zbiorowego. W tym kontekście, integrację można traktować jako wielokierunkowy i złożony proces adaptacji rynkowej transportu zbiorowego. W artykule poruszono następujące zagadnienia: - zakres integracji transportu zbiorowego; - uwarunkowania formalno-prawne; - praktyka integracji; - proces integracji taryfowo-biletowej w Metropolii Zatoki Gdańskiej; - wprowadzenie przez MZKZG zintegrowanych biletów metropolitalnych.

Na początku lipca w Berlinie odbyła się prezentacja całej gamy pojazdów użytkowych Daimler AG: Safety Truck, Safety Van i Safety Coach, opracowanych w ramach globalnego programu "Shaping Future Transportation". Celem tego programu jest ochrona zasobów środowiska na turalnego, redukcja wszelkiego rodzaju emisji szkodliwych związków i hałasu z jednoczesnym zapewnieniem maksymalnego poziomu bezpieczeństwa w ruchu drogowym. W niniejszym artykule skupiono się przede wszystkim na rozwiązaniach stosowanych w sektorze autobusowym. Nie można jednak zapominać, że prace rozwojowe w zakresie systemów bezpieczeństwa są prowadzone całościowo i obejmują wszystkie sektory. Wynika to z faktu, iż pojazdy wszystkich sektorów uczestniczą w tym samym ruchu drogowym i podlegają wzajemnemu oddziaływaniu. Ponadto stosowanie rozwiązań uniwersalnych, wszędzie tam, gdzie jest to możliwe, pozwala na znaczne obniżenie cen rynkowych (dzięki uzyskaniu odpowiedniej skali produkcji).

W publikacji scharakteryzowano system transportu stosowany w podziemnych kopalniach węgla kamiennego. Omówiono transport załogi, urządzeń i materiałów oraz urobku. Zasygnalizowano konieczność optymalizacji całego przebiegu procesu transportowego, co przekłada się na wydajny i efektywny system logistyczny, będący zarazem warunkiem koniecznym sprawnego i bezpiecznego prowadzenia wydobycia węgla. Przedstawiono koncepcję zintegrowanego systemu transportu poziomego nowoczesnej kopalni. Scharakteryzowano istotny element zintegrowanego systemu transportowego, jakim powinna być podwieszana kolej o napędzie własnym.
This publication describes the transport system used in coal mines. Elements of transport such as transport of personnel, equipment and materials and output were presented. The need to optimize the entire transport process influencing the efficient and effective logistics system was signalled, which is a prerequisite for the efficient and safe administration of coal mining. There is also a concept of the integrated horizontal transport system in a modern mine proposed. An important element of the integrated transport system, which should be a self-propelled monorail was characterized.

There is an analysis of legislative framework of transport system (ITS), description of ITS attributes, advantages and disadvantages of ITS operating in SR in the paper. The paper also points out underlying technical conditions necessary for existence of ITS, which should be established in SR in order to increase the number of ITS projects in cities and regions in SR.

This paper deals with the analysis of the influence of integrated transport systems on the region and on ITS transport services in the Czech Republic and Poland. Available transport statistics contain only the information about particular transport modes; the data of integrated transport systems is not registered. Therefore the basis for the analysis of integrated transport systems and ITS influence on the region is missing. With regard to this, the situation of transport services in regions with an integrated transport system and in regions without it is has been analysed. The result is based on the comparison of situation in these regions and in the whole country.

Integrated transport systems are considered a modern way for management of public transport services in regions. Many new integrated transport systems have been created or are planned in Central European countries. A common method for their comparison and evaluation is necessary considering differences of these systems in many attributes. This article presents an integrated approach towards building a simulation model of the transportation network. The proposed method is based on the recommendations of the Blue Book for Sector of Public Transport in cities, agglomerations and regions issued by Jaspers (Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions). It comprises six steps with such elements as econometric modelling, artificial neural networks and mathematical model. It is dedicated to developing simulation models for the purpose of picturing present situation and dependencies dominating in the transportation network, easily reflecting effects of potential modifications and providing forecasts for the future. The described hybrid method was verified in practice by building the simulation model which is presented in the next article in this series entitled: An Integrated Approach towards Building a Simulation Model Supporting the Management of the Passenger Transportation System. Part 2 – Case Study.

The article describes the conception of an integrated video monitoring system for rail transport objects. The most important purpose of the proposed solution is to increase the safety of passengers and freight.

The research is focused on developing design theory towards efficient multifunctional facilities for logistics supply chains in the contemporary urban city structures. The development of modern systems based on autonomous transport creates new conditions for their management and generates an emerging need to define dedicated functional service structures. An important element of consideration also taken into account is the scenario for large-size unmanned facilities operation in the multifunctional port facility and its connections to power supply from renewable energy sources. Despite the high degree of complexity, modern transport solutions should be focused on optimizing the distribution time and trans-shipment time within the intermodal supply chain as well as provide ecological logistic solutions. Due to the large number of system components, the study presents a simplified database structure allowing for a comprehensive technological overview within the entire system.

Współczesny dworzec kolejowy nie może być już traktowany jedynie jako przystanek kolejowy, ale jako punkt integrujący różne środki transportu w formie zintegrowanego węzła przesiadkowego. Tylko całościowe myślenie o transporcie w regionie, czyli również lepsze skomunikowanie kolei z innymi środkami transportu, może przełożyć się na lepsze wykorzystanie komunikacji zbiorowej, lepsze napełnienie pociągów, większą częstotliwość ich przejazdów, a zarazem bardziej efektywne wykorzystanie całego systemu.
