Opis:

Opis:
In the Penderecki oeuvre, symphonic music has been pivotal, with eight symphonies written over the span of forty years, including Symphony No. 6, which remains in the sketch stage. As he admits, the sequence of symphonies constitutes a sort of musical autobiography. In the life and work of Penderecki his interests in nature and culture have long run parallel, and in both spheres the moment of creation has been particularly significant. Penderecki’s artistic work has clearly focused on two domains: composing music and moulding the nature which surrounds his Luslawice house - the space of the garden and park. The latter type of art concerns nature not in its primeval form, but rather in the shape imposed on it by man. Over the last decade, the composer’s two passions have tended to drift closer together and intertwine. During this time, he has written his Eighth Symphony (‘Lieder der Vergänglichkeit’), devoted to trees, and Three Chinese Songs, permeated by his enchantment with the beauty of nature. In his Eighth Symphony, Penderecki employs poetic and musical images to show the beauty and diversity of the forms of the surrounding world of nature, in which it is given to man to live the successive phases of his life. However, a relevant dimension of the symphony is that of looking from a distance at the fate of man - the existential reflection offered mainly by the commenting choral parts, as in ancient tragedy. What dominates is a sense of transition, the sadness of decline and the thought of the inevitability of the fate of man, who searches for a way to unravel the mystery of existence.

Opis:
The poetry of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz includes various – and unique in the 20th century Polish literature – references to actual musical compositions. Johannes Brahms and Ser-gei Rachmaninoff are among the composers, whose pieces are most often present in this poetry. Close reading of chosen poems, which conduct intertextual and intersemiotic dialog with Brahms’ and Rachmaninoff’s compositions, allows one to distinguish vari-ous models of this dialog and its functions. It becomes possible – in the wider biograph-ical context – to ask about the meaning of German and Russian music to the writer and to the, often autobiographical, subjects of his poems. It leads also to the question of the relation between music and memory in Iwaszkiewicz’s poetry, based sometimes on a surprising counterpoint with respect to the sérénité motive. In the context of this rela-tion another motive seems to come to the fore, the motive of the lost world, to which, as the protagonist of Brzezina says, ‘I will never return, and which I have never truly expe-rienced’. 34

Opis:
Franz Liszt is one of the greatest artists of the 19th century. He has attended the most important artistic and social events providing comments on their literature and musical aspects. In his articles published in ‘Gazette Musicale’ (1835—1841) he treats the artist, their place in the society till in his correspondence he reflects the life condition of the workers. This social sensibility can be observed in Lyon (1837) in the cycle Impressions et poesies. The literature was one of his main interests. All his life he kept reading and commenting in his correspondence the works he had read and most importantly he tried to imple-ment it in his musical works. The result of these attempts was the creation of the pro-gram music, a music inspired very often by the literature or preceded by a literature piece. In my article I am presenting the music of Liszt that has inspired literature deeds. My research is directed towards two works — the novel entitled Mefisto-Walc by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz and the poem by Paweł Kubisz entitled Rapsod o Oszeldzie. Both are very different. In the first work it is the music (Erster Mephisto-Walzer) one of the main actors, equal to the others, the composer is just mentioned. In the work of Kubisz, Liszt is a principle actor who inspires the struggle of the workers and leads towards liberty and his music occupies secondary place (Lyon, Mazeppa, Mephisto-Walz). Both the works have one common point — Franz Liszt and his music. They both also refer to Faust. Ein Gedicht of Nikolas Lenau that has preceded Erster Mephisto-Walzer. They both have not only a common musical intertext but also a literature intertext though the musical work, what I have called intertext of second degree. This is proof that Liszt was right that it is possible to implement the ideas in the music.PE

Opis:
The article derives from the intertextual approach to the notion of literary identity, introduced to the modern literary theory in the 1960’s by Julia Kristeva (born 1941). The main idea behind this approach is that no literary text should be perceived as an isolated unity, but always in relation to other texts, which it refers to. The author applies the intertextual perspective to examine the signs of external literary influences in Lise Andersens minimalist prose collection ”En særlig sommer og andre billeder”, published in 2008. The analysis aims to highlight influences from the American short story genre, which appears as an important source of inspiration not only for Andersen herself, but in fact for most of the Danish writers of minimalist fiction. The analysis provides examples of, how inspiration from the American short story manifests itself in form, narration and structure of the selected stories in the collection. Last but not least, the author draws attention to the general importance of American influences in Danish contemporary short fiction and their role for the critical perception of this literary genre both in Denmark and abroad.

There has been no greater contrast of personality, biography, worldview, and lifestyle. And yet there is no end to similarities, proximities, even kinship; great was Górecki’s fascination with Szymanowski.First was the score of Beethoven’s Ninth, bought for the money earned by selling a ping-pong racket; but Górecki then spent his first savings on Chopin’s Impromptus and Szymanowski’s Mazurkas. He would recount later: “I still have these scores, and that is how my strange story begins: Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Chopin’s Impromptus and Szymanowski’s Mazurkas.”28 Yet apart from Górecki’s fascination with Szymanowski music and oeuvre, there is another link still. Both artists fell in love with Podhale, the Tatra Mountains and the culture of the region; so much that its main spa, Zakopane, became their second home. This went hand in hand with their fascination with the music of Podhale. The focal point for Szymanowski’s impact on Górecki brings together two masterpieces of sacred music: Stabat Mater and Symphony of Sorrowful Songs.Stabat Mater is one of Szymanowski’s few religious works; Górecki’s Sorrowful Songs are one of the many sacred works written both before and after the Symphony. Yet they are both instances of the highest artistry, of the apogee in their author’s creative achievements.Outside explicit examples of correlation between the work of Szymanowski and Górecki, there is an analogy between them of a more general nature. Taking into account the historical situation in which the two composers lived and worked, and the meanders of Polish music of the 20th centuries, the stylistic breakthrough that took place both in Szymanowski – before his Stabat Mater – and in Górecki – before his Third Symphony – was of tantamount import to establish their rank and their position in the history of Polish music.

Opis:
Many of the Froberger’s harpsichord compositions were inspired by the issues other than music. These works can be divided into two groups: works dedicated to particular people and programme pieces which are the descriptions of different events involving Froberger. Allemande faite en passant le Rhin dans une barque en grand peril, as a part of the fi rst Suite in e minor, belongs to the second group. The composition was inspired by some dramatic events seen by Froberger during his cruise on the Rhine which were then presented through music. In this article we attempt to analyze and interpret the compositional solutions aimed at presenting the non-musical content in the musical works. Considering the time when the Allemande... was composed, we chose rhetorical-musical analysis as the main research tool. Allemande... survived to our time in three manuscript sources: Ms . Bulyowsky , Ms. Tappert and Ms. SA 4450. The Ms. SA 4450 is significantly valuable for the research problem in our paper as it shows the division of Allemande... into 26 clearly separate sections, corresponding to 26 events seen by Froberger during his Rhine travel. Each of the 26 events has been both described in the written commentary and highlighted in the musical content. This unique record is invaluable for the interpretation of this work and provides the guidance for the interpretation of other Froberger’s compositions containing program in the title as it shows compositional solutions used directly for the purpose of presenting the non-musical content.

The paper analyses the architecture of one of the finest palaces of the 18th Century in Poland, erected by Giovanni Fontana for Eustachy and Marianna Potocki in Radzyń Podlaski. One of their sons was Stanislaw Kostka, an eminent representative of the Enlightement, patron of art, architect-amateur, who played an important role in the history of the Classicism in Po¬land. The main object of the analysis is to establish sources of inspiration for the artistic taste of Stanislaw Kostka Potocki, educated in the middle of fine architecture of his family residence, thus enabling to make a hypothesis that the fascinations in the ancient art of the times of Classicism are rooted in the culture under the reign of the Saxon dynasty in Poland.

The focus of the article is a stove tile with the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Child, discovered during archaeological works in the interior of the house of canons number 6 on the cathedral island (Ostrów Tumski) in Poznań. The authors give a brief overview of the subject matter connected with antique stove tiles found during excavations and put forward the thesis that the images on them were inspired by sculptures of the turn of the 15th and 16th century, especially the so called Beautiful Madonna sculptures. The authors also refer to other findings of stove tiles with various images of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Child from the territory of Poland. They discuss a wide range of examples of everyday religiousness and indicate that stoves built with tiles with religious motifs are manifestations of such commonplace  devotion.

In Bloch’s works, the world of different meanings, ideas, and nonmusical contexts is of paramount importance. The composer often uses words as a medium intimately entwined with music. The reason for such an artistic declaration is the array of different events in Bloch’s life: his interest in the organ influenced by his father, his adventures with illustrative music, and the relationship with his wife – the excellent Polish singer – Halina Łukołomska. All these elements are the reason why Bloch’s works are inspired by poetical text, images, associations, and aesthetic sensations. Multicultural aspects in Bloch’s works stem from his contacts with German artists and patrons. These collaborations resulted in many outstanding works written for German artists. Some of his works were inspired by Bloch’s friendship with German painter Ingeborg zu Schleswig-Holstein (Denn Dein Licht Kommt/ Albowiem nadejdzie światłość Twoja; Du sollst nicht töten/ Nie zabijaj!; Empor/ Wzwyż). Three of Bloch’s works: Wordsworth Songs, Die Verscheuchte, Anenaiki were primarily inspired by formal and verbal construction and not as much by foreign cultures.

Transformations of the functional and spatial structure of the city are a process in which spontaneous phenomena may occur. By using a variety of spatial planning instruments, one may prevent the possible destructive consequences of spontaneity. In this regard, the principles of shaping urban spaces inside culture parks are of particular importance.

Opis:
The volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment means growing challenges for companies. New ideas could be inspiring for managers who cope with complex problems. One of the fields within which academics look for solutions is nature. The mechanism behind immunology system could also bring some stimulants for managers’ thinking. The response towards a disturbance factor of the immune system is an inspiration for identifying a resistance system of the company. From the methodological point of view, the system approach constitutes a framework for building comparisons between two different research areas, respectively – immunology and the company. The external barriers subsystem, the non-specific defence subsystem, the fuzzy specificity subsystem and the target-oriented (specific) defence subsystem constitute the resistance system of the company. In business practice, the resistance system was analysed with reference to the activities of one of the small companies.
