The authors report the characteristics of a diffraction-grating-free mid-wavelength infrared InP/In₀.₈₅Ga₀.₁₅As quantum well infrared photodetector focal plane array with a 640 × 512 format and a 15 µm pitch. Combination of a normal incident radiation sensing ability of the high-x InxGa1-xAs quantum wells with a large gain property of the InP barriers led to a diffraction-grating-free quantum well infrared photodetector focal plane array with characteristics displaying great promise to keep the status of the quantum well infrared photodetector as a robust member of the new generation thermal imaging sensor family. The focal plane array exhibited excellent uniformity with noise equivalent temperature difference nonuniformity as low as 10% and a mean noise equivalent temperature difference below 20 mK with f/2 optics at 78 K in the absence of grating. Elimination of the diffraction-grating and large enough conversion efficiency (as high as ~70% at a -3.5 V bias voltage) abolish the bottlenecks of the quantum well infrared photodetector technology for the new generation very small-pitch focal plane arrays.

Infrared detector technologies engineered from III-V semiconductors such as strained-layer superlattice, quantum well infrared photodetectors, and quantum dot infrared photodetectors provide additional flexibility to engineer bandgap or spectral response cut-offs compared to the historical high-performance detector technology of mercury/cadmium/telluride. The choice of detector cut-off depends upon the sensing application for which the system engineer is attempting to maximize performance within an expected ensemble of operational scenarios that define objects or targets to be detected against specific environmental backgrounds and atmospheric conditions. Sensor performance is typically characterised via one or more metrics that can be modelled or measured experimentally. In this paper, the authors will explore the impact of detector cut-off wavelength with respect to different performance metrics such as noise equivalent temperature difference and expected target detection or identification ranges using analytical models developed for several representative sensing applications encompassing a variety of terrestrial atmospheric conditions in the mid-wave and long-wave infrared wavelength bands. The authors will also report on their review of recently published literature concerning the relationships between cut-off wavelength and the other detector performance characteristics such as quantum efficiency or dark current for a variety of detector technologies.

The infra-red radiation was discovered in 1800 by English astronomer Sir Wiliam Hirchel but practical appl ications could be dated to the beginning of XX century. First advanced scientific investigations, as well as works relating to the military applications of IR technique were carried out during the First World War. Many applications of IR radiation exist until now. It is generally accepted that taking into account the destination the devices of IR techniques can be divided on three main groups: measuring devices, observation and aut omatic recognition systems. Opis:
We propose a high-quality infrared and visible image fusion method based on a deep wavelet-dense network (WT-DenseNet). The WT-DenseNet includes three network layers, the hybrid feature extraction layer, fusion layer, and image reconstruction layer. The hybrid feature extraction layer is composed of a wavelet and dense network. The wavelet network decomposes the feature map of the visible and infrared images into low-frequency and high-frequency components, respectively. The dense network extracts the salient features. A fusion layer is designed to integrate low-frequency and salient features. Finally, the fusion images are outputted by an image reconstruction layer. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can realize high-quality infrared and visible image fusions, and the performance of the proposed method is better than that of the six recently published fusion methods in terms of contrast and detail performance.

This work presents the method of improving the accuracy of temperature measurement results obtained by means of long-wave infrared camera equipped with focal plane array (FPA) detector. The typical accuracy of infrared cameras specified by their manufacturers amounts to ±2 K or ±2% of the measured value of temperature. Very often a better accuracy of the measurements is required, e.g. during the measurements of human body temperature. To improve the measurement accuracy an external local (in terms of temperature range) correction of obtained results on the basis of comparison measurement results of black body temperature and next with use of MATLAB package has been proposed.

The article presents a method for determining the content and temperature on the basis of spectra from remote measurements. The technique uses measurements of a high resolution radiation spectrum that allows the visibility of the individual rotational lines of gases such as CO₂, used here in the range of 2470-2495 cm¯¹. At the same time a new algorithm is applied of pre-processing the spectrum, involving the use of multiple ratios of intensity at several wavenumbers as input to an inverse model based on neural networks. Due to it, the dimensionality of the input can significantly be reduced. Additionally, the data interpreted do not have to be measured in units of spectral radiance. Thus only the calibration of the sensitivity of the spectrometer at various wavelengths is required. The neural models were constructed on the basis of data from the simulation. The proposed method works with a uniform layer of radiating gas for determining the temperature and CO₂ content. For a non-uniform layer it is possible to determine the line-of-sight temperature profile and average gas content. The method can be extended to different spectral ranges and to other gases present in substantial quantities in the exhaust gases of various processes.

Opis:
This work investigates the potential of InAs/GaSb superlattice detectors for the shortwavelength infrared spectral band. A barrier detector structure was grown by molecular beam epitaxy and devices were fabricated using standard photolithography techniques. Optical and electrical characterisations were carried out and the current limitations were identified. The authors found that the short diffusion length of ~1.8 µm is currently limiting the quantum efficiency (double-pass, no anti-reflection coating) to 43% at 2.8 µm and 200 K. The dark current density is limited by the surface leakage current which shows generation-recombination and diffusion characters below and above 195 K, respectively. By fitting the size dependence of the dark current, the bulk values have been estimated to be 6.57·10ˉ⁶ A/cm² at 200 K and 2.31·10ˉ⁶ A/cm² at 250 K, which is only a factor of 4 and 2, respectively, above the Rule07.

The paper deals with the influence of emissivity on infrared measurements (Tab. 1; Fig. 1-3) and presents the developed device for emissivity estimation (Fig. 4). There is comparison shown between the reference emissivity values measured with thermal camera (Fig. 5) and estimated with the developed device (Tab. 2). Obtained results are in good agreement for three examined samples with emissivity ranging from 0.1 to 0.95.

Efforts are continuously made for improving internal combustion engines (ICEs) efficiency. Lowering fuel consumption and reducing soot formation are among the challenges being addressed when seeking to improve engine designs. In this work, ICEs characterization was carried out on an elongated single-cylinder transparent diesel engine equipped with the multi-cylinder head of a commercial passenger’s car and a common rail injection system. The engine uses a conventionally extended piston where part of the piston’s crown is replaced by a sapphire window. In this configuration, a full view of the combustion bowl can be achieved while the engine is in operation by looking at a 45° fixed mirror located in the extended piston axis. Infrared imaging was carried out at 26 kHz, leading to a temporal resolution of about 0.35° crankshaft angle, at 1500 RPM, in the engine’s reference frame. The different phases of a combustion cycle, i.e. intake, compression, fuel injection, working stroke and exhaust, were investigated using four different spectral filters (broadband, CO2 red-spike, through-flame and hydrocarbons). In the experiment, air was replaced by a premixed air-methane charge in order to improve combustion and lower the amount of soot deposits. The results illustrate the potential of high-speed IR imaging as a diagnostic tool for ICEs.

Obecnie w przemyśle spożywczym poszukuje się innowacyjnych rozwiązań z zakresu monitorowania i kontroli prawidłowości przebiegu procesów produkcyjnych. Nowoczesne techniki powinny charakteryzować się niezawodnością, prostotą obsługi, dokładnością, krótkim czasem detekcji oraz nieinwazyjnością. Wśród tych metod wyróżnić można termowizję, która w sposób bezkontaktowy pozwala na zdalne rejestrowanie rozkładu temperatury na powierzchni badanego obiektu w czasie rzeczywistym. W artykule omówiono podstawy teoretyczne termografii podczerwieni oraz dokonano przeglądu zastosowania techniki termowizyjnej w przemyśle spożywczym.
Nowadays, the food industry is seeking for innovative technological solutions in the field of monitoring and controlling the production processes. Modern techniques should be characterized by reliability, ease of use, accuracy, short detection time and non-invasiveness. Among these methods, infrared thermovision could be distinguished. The thermovision technique allows contactless, remote measurement of objects surface temperature distribution in real time. The article discusses the theoretical basis of infrared thermovision and reviews the use of infrared technology in the food industry.

The aim of this project was to study how the particle size and morphology of magnesium powder affect the burning and infrared radiation characteristics of foil-type Mg/PTFE/Viton (MTV) infrared decoys. A long-wavelength thermal imager and an OPAG33 Fourier transform infrared remote-sensing spectrometer were used to characterize the burning and infrared radiation. The results show that the burning rate, burning temperature, and far-infrared radiation intensity of the decoys are improved significantly with decreased particle size. The burning rate, burning temperature, and far-infrared radiation intensity of the flake-like powder are higher than for the spherical powder of the same particle size.

Radiation absorption measurement systems are widely used in the evaluation of different types of materials. They require a stable transceiver radiation measuring circuit. The article presents a transceiver infrared radiation system developed by the author, in which, apart from a stabilized power supply of transmitting and receiving subsystems, the dedicated software for temperature correction of output signals was also used. The system has two measuring circuits at wavelengths of 860 nm and 950 nm. The paper presents characteristics and measurement uncertainties of the system, determined by means of the reference material. This type of a system can be used in systems for IR transmission or reflection tests, and it can be of help in radiation absorbance studies.
Układy pomiaru tłumienia promieniowania znajdują szerokie zastosowanie w ocenie różnych typów materiałów. Wymagają one stabilnego toru nadawczo-odbiorczego promieniowania. W artykule przedstawiono opracowany układ nadawczo-odbiorczy promieniowania podczerwonego, w którym obok stabilizowanych źródeł zasilania podukładów, nadawczego i odbiorczego, zastosowano programową korekcję temperaturową sygnałów wyjściowych. Układ posiada dwa tory pomiarowe o długościach fal 860 i 950 nm. W artykule zaprezentowano charakterystyki i niepewności pomiarowe układu wyznaczone przy wykorzystaniu referencyjnego materiału. Układ tego typu może być zastosowany w systemach badania przepuszczalności lub odbicia światła podczerwonego, czy badaniach absorbancji promieniowania.

Execution of long-term tests on infrared radiation waves requires the use of a stable transceiver circuit for infrared radiation. The unit developed by the authors of this paper is an example of possible instruments that can be used in such tests. The system is composed of a stabilized supply source for a transceiver circuit and a programmed temperature change option for output signals. The tests were carried out for a two-channel radiation transceiver with 860 and 950 nm wavelengths. The results obtained were analysed and their expanded uncertainties were determined for a 99% level of confidence, based on the assumed uncertainty budgets. Standard uncertainties were determined using calculation methods type A and B. After verification, the developed stand can be used to test infrared radiation for two wavelengths. It can also find application in the design of bigger control systems, where it can play the role of a measurement module. The examples of such applications include, inter alia, tests on the transmission and reflection of the infrared light.
Realizacja długookresowych badań monochromatycznej fali promieniowania podczerwonego wymaga stabilnego układu nadawczo-odbiorczego. Jednym z rozwiązań jest opracowany taki układ, w którym obok stabilizowanych źródeł zasilania toru nadawczego i odbiorczego zastosowano programową stabilizację temperaturową jego sygnałów wyjściowych. Przedmiotem badań był dwukanałowy układ nadawczo-odbiorczy promieniowania o długościach fal 860 i 950 nm. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań układu poddano analizie i na podstawie oszacowanych budżetów niepewności wyznaczono ich rozszerzone niepewności o 99% poziomie ufności. Niepewności standardowe wyznaczono z oszacowań metodami typu A i B. Zweryfikowane stanowisko pomiarowe do badania promieniowania podczerwonego o dwóch długościach fal, można wykorzystywać w większych systemach sterowania, w których układ ten pełniłby rolę jednego z modułów pomiarowych. Przykładem takich aplikacji mogą być systemy do badania przepuszczalności lub odbicia światła podczerwonego.

During the temperature measurements by means of infrared camera the temperature of surrounding elements must be known. In the case of thermovision inspections of the objects exposed to open air space, the surroundings consists of two elements, it is the ground and hypothetical sky surface. The sky temperature measured by long-wave IR camera is of apparent character because it expresses the thermal radiation of the sky within the spectral operational range of this camera i.e. 7.5÷13 μm. The abovementioned spectral range is coincident with so called atmospheric window within which the thermal radiation of the sky is relatively low. The emissivity of atmosphere within this window is low in the central part and high near the limits of the aforementioned range. In relation with the detector characteristic of the IR camera it causes underestimation of the measured sky temperature. This work deals with the analysis of influence of the IR camera detector characteristic on the results of determination of sky temperature and its thermal radiation intensity.

Opis:
The article deals with thermal diffusivity measurements by using of thermovision techniques. Methods for determination of thermal parameters of insulating bodies are time consuming and so that, their utility in industry is inconsiderable. For example such measurements can’t be used for online inspection of product quality. In the article, new method for determination of thermal diffusivity was presented. Basic concept and model of measuring device were discussed. The method is characterized by short measuring time, high accuracy and low dependence on external conditions. Exemplary measuring results were presented and all advantages of proposed method were proved.

Opis:
Noise removal in IR (Infra Red) images is very popular in recent years, however the same approach is utilized as for vision images, with no or minor changes. In this work we wanted to show the results of noise removal for selected filters. We focused on investigation of some filters normally used for image processing and their influence to IR image quality. In IR imaging the choice of filter depends mainly on the purpose of the processing, e.g. detection of small objects in complex images, edge and contour detection or removal of non-uniformity of the detector array. The performance of the selected noise reduction filters was evaluated using PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and MAE (Mean Absolute Error) quality measure, greater value of the PSNR and lower value of the MAE indicate better noise reduction. The results are shown only for few images from our database which contain over 2000 of IR images.

The paper presents the principle of operation of a new night-shooting target. Because this target requires a covering that reflects the infrared radiation flux generated by the reflector from its surface, testing of different variants of the cover and the shape of the target surface has been carried out. Emissivity is a physical parameter characterizing the radiant properties of real bodies. The emissivity coefficient of extruded aluminum sheet samples covered with a layer of green colored aluminum oxide was determined. The aluminum oxide layer was applied using two different technologies being galvanic and anodizing.

Four infrared spectroscopic techniques - photoacoustic (PAS), diffuse reflectance (DRS), attenuated total reflectance (ATR) and transmission (TS) - were evaluated for the qualitative analysis of the biochar obtained from willow feedstock during pyrolysis. Increase in pyrolysis temperature resulted in more aromatic and carbonaceous structure of biochars. These changes could easily be detected from Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectral differences. The comparison of the spectra obtained by the four FT-IR techniques allowed to conclude that there are differences in the spectra acquired using different IR technique caused by different signal acquisition. PAS and ATR were the best techniques used in order to obtain spectra with smooth and sharp peaks, in contrast to TS, where bands were less-separated. DRS turned out to be the weakest of all techniques, due to poor spectral quality and poor separation of the bands.

The paper presents work on the development of a thermal target providing for shooting with the use of night-vision and thermovision sights in night conditions as well as during the day, without changing the target. The image of the target in the night sight is visible by illuminating it through an IR lamp. The target is designed so that the reflected IR stream is directed towards the objective lens. Compared to existing solutions, the new thermal target has a number of advantages, such as it does not require long-time heating and is immediately ready to operate after thermal lamp lighting, significantly reducing energy consumption. The project is currently at the stage of prototype target testing.

Mid-wavelength infrared detectors and focal plane array based on n-type InAs/InAsSb type- II strained layer superlattice absorbers have achieved excellent performance. In the long and very long wavelength infrared, however, n-type InAs/InAsSb type-II strained layer superlattice detectors are limited by their relatively small absorption coefficients and short growth-direction hole diffusion lengths, and consequently have only been able to achieve modest level of quantum efficiency. The authors present an overview of their progress in exploring complementary barrier infrared detectors that contain p-type InAs/InAsSb type-II strained layer superlattice absorbers for quantum efficiency enhancement. The authors describe some representative results, and also provide additional references for more indepth discussions. Results on InAs/InAsSb type-II strained layer superlattice focal plane arrays for potential NASA applications are also briefly discussed.

Complex methodology was applied to study a movement structure in the standing back tuck somersault (SBTS). We have checked the usefulness of the multi-modular measuring system (SMART-E, BTS, Company, Italy) consisting of six infrared cameras, and the wireless module Pocket EMG, for measuring muscle bioelectric activity and force plate (AMTI, USA). Software Smart Analyser was used to create a database allowing the chosen parameters to be compared. Using a comprehensive methodology in the studies of the back somersault, performed with the landing at the same place (salto – S), allows for the presentation of the external and internal structure of the movement of this exercise.

The article presents a method of compression of High Dynamic Range of infrared image and its details enhancement. The method is based on aggregation of partial images with different ranges of pixel values generated using a weighting function. Aggregation of images could be performed according to proposed scheme with use of the optimal algorithm selected by user. Preliminary results shown that the method can reveal previously hidden details in the original image.

Application of sensors for on-site fast identification and discrimination of dominant ore bearing particles from associated gangues in a complex ore is an important route in minerals exploration and extraction industries. This paper considers identification and discrimination of copper bearing minerals from associated gangues using near infrared sensors. Different copper bearing minerals in the Akiri copper ore are differentiated on the basis of their near infrared spectra behaviour. The near infrared spectra of individual samples are correlated with their mineralogy and chemistry as analysed by X-Ray diffraction and X-Ray fluorescence equipment, respectively. The obtained results indicated that the detection limit of the near infrared sensor is better than that of both X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence equipment used. Hence, in addition to the minerals identified by the X-ray diffraction equipment, other near infrared active minerals with concentration below the X-ray diffraction detection limit were also detected by the near infrared sensors.

Kamera termowizyjna rejestruje promieniowanie podczerwone pochodzące od obserwowanych obiektów. Jej głównym elementem jest matryca detektorów podczerwieni, która przetwarza odbierane promieniowanie na sygnał elektryczny. Źródła promieniowania rejestrowane przez detektor można podzielić jako użyteczne odbierane z obserwowanej sceny oraz nieużyteczne odbierane od takich obiektów jak obudowa detektora, elementy obiektywu. Te nieużyteczne źródła promieniowania mają istotny wpływ na konstrukcję samego detektora. W artykule przedstawiono model obudowy detektora oraz ilościową analizę wpływu różnych źródeł promieniowania na możliwość skutecznej detekcji promieniowania z obserwowanej scenie.
The infrared camera detects infrared radiation from the observed objects, Its main element is the array of infrared detectors, which converts the received radiation into an electrical signal. The radiation sources recorded by the detector can be divided as useful, received from the observed scene, and useless received from such objects as the detector housing and lens elements. These unusable radiation sources have a significant impact on the design of the detector itself. The article presents a model of the detector housing and a quantitative analysis of the influence of various radiation sources on the effectiveness of radiation detection from the observed scene.

The results of the research on the development dynamics of passenger car fires as presented in this study resemble those given in articles [3] and [4]. The following conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of its results: 1. The dynamics of a car fire development mainly depends on ventilation. 2. It is difficult to start a fire in a tightly closed car. 3. The maximum temperature of a car fire in each experiment exceeded 1,000°C (by not more than several dozen °C). 4. Under the engine cover, plastic elements are damaged, while parts from an aluminium alloy partly melt. 5. After the fire damages window panes or the car is opened the temperature inside the vehicle grows very fast to more than 1000°C. This takes 2 to 5 minutes. 6. In the course of the fire, dangerous phenomena take place, posing risks for persons near the car, such as e.g. the breakup of servos. 7. A passenger car fire can last for more than an hour.

Germanium (Ge) PiN photodetectors are fabricated and electro-optically characterised. Unintentionally and p-type doped Ge layers are grown in a reduced-pressure chemical vapour deposition tool on a 200 mm diameter, <001>-oriented, p-type silicon (Si) substrates. Thanks to two Ge growth temperatures and the use of short thermal cycling afterwards, threading dislocation densities down to 10⁷ cmˉ² are obtained. Instead of phosphorous (P) ion implantation in germanium, the authors use in situ phosphorous-doped poly-crystalline Si (poly-Si) in the n-type regions. Secondary ion mass spectrometry revealed that P was confined in poly-Si and did not diffuse in Ge layers beneath. Over a wide range of tested device geometries, production yield was dramatically increased, with almost no short circuits. At 30 °C and at -0.1 V bias, corresponding to the highest dynamic resistance, the median dark current of 10 μm diameter photodiodes is in the 5-20 nA range depending on the size of the n-type region. The dark current is limited by the Shockley-Read-Hall generation and the noise power spectral density of the current by the flicker noise contribution. A responsivity of 0.55 and 0.33 A/W at 1.31 and 1.55 μm, respectively, is demonstrated with a 1.8 μm thick absorption Ge layer and an optimized anti-reflection coating at 1.55 μm. These results pave the way for a cost-effective technology based on group-IV semiconductors.

In this work the human detection method in infrared has been presented. The proposed solution focuses on the use low-level features and detecting parts of the human body. Low–level processing is based on modified HOG (Histogram of Oriented Gradients) algorithm. First, the only squared cells have been used, also calculation of the gradient has been improved. Next, the model of the head from the dataset IR (Infra Red) images has been created, also the model of the human body. Finally, the probability matrix has been examined using minimal distance classifier. The novelty of the proposed solution focuses on the combination of the pixel-gradient and body parts processing, also three stage classification process (head modelling, human modelling and classifier), which has been proposed to reduce the false detection. The experiments were performed on self-created IR images database, which contains images with most of the possible difficult situations such as overlapped people, different pose, small and high resolution of the people. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated using Precision and Recall quality measure.

There are many types of natural gas fields including shale formations which are common especially in the St-Lawrence Valley (Canada). Since methane (CH4), the major component of shale gas, is odorless, colorless and highly flammable, in addition of being a greenhouse gas, methane emanations and/or leaks are important to consider for both safety and environmental reasons. On this regard, passive remote sensing represents an interesting approach since it allows characterization of large areas from a safe location. In order to illustrate the potential of passive thermal infrared hyperspectral imaging for research on natural gas, imaging was carried out on a shale gas leak that unexpectedly happened during a geological survey near Hospital Enfant-Jesus (Québec City, Canada) in December 2016. Quantitative methane imaging was carried out based on its unique infrared spectral signature. The results show how this novel technique could be used for advanced research on shale gases.

Opis:
To reduce heat losses from buildings various methods are used. One of them is applying so called “thermal resistant paints”. These paints can be put in principle on the inner but also on outer surfaces of building external walls. The aforementioned paints are put on a surface in the similar way as other paints in building construction technology and form a thin insulation layer. The acting of this paints consists in causing a noticeable temperature drop within this layer and simultaneously on the wall surface. This work presents the experimental rig, measurement procedures and selected measurement results.

In the article are presented the results of the irradiance obtained by using Dialux program. The calculations were made for two cases of simple geometries, which are known according to analysis to determine the average values of geometrical configuration factor. A comparison of the results obtained and confirmed their compliance. Dialux program for some systems which certain some conditions and simplifying assumptions described in section 1 can be used, and radiometric parameters obtained do not differ from those of analytically calculation. The program allows a adopt for radiating surface nolambertian radiation intensity distribution. This expands the applicability of the calculation to the areas where analytical calculations are time consuming and complicated. Confirmation are set out in section 6 of the calculations for the heating system of real more complicated situations.

According to the theory of high refractive index of metamaterials, a composite structure of metal dielectric grating was designed to achieve high refractive index in infrared band. Based on the S-parameter inversion algorithm, we extracted the effective permittivity, the effective permeability, and the effective refractive index of the designed metamaterial. By changing the geometric parameters of the composite grating metamaterial structure, the effective refractive index of the designed metamaterial reaches more than 8.0 at the infrared resonance frequency. This is a high refractive index that many natural materials cannot achieve. It is noteworthy that the metamaterial structure has obvious polarization sensitivity. The metamaterial structure has both high refractive index and wideband zero refractive index properties when different polarized light is incident. At the same time, we further investigate the influence of metamaterial geometric parameters on the effective refractive index of metamaterials. Also, we propose a double grating metamaterial structure to obtain more degrees of freedom of metamaterial on the effective refractive index.

Opis:
Microorganism identification, primary bacterial identification and pathogen detection, is important in a lot of microbial scientific areas (diagnosing of infection diseases, food protection). In this paper, the identification of the strains was performed by Near Infrared spectroscopy (wavelength from 900 nm to 2500 nm). Different techniques for classification (CVA, ANN…) were examined. It was reached to 100% accuracy on limited count of samples. Because a removing of water from sample represents a time-consuming step in sample preparation process, influence of water to spectrum was examined. Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy seems to be a suitable method for rapid bacteria identification. It can be used in a wide variety of food protection, medicine microbiology, bio-terrorism threats and environmental studies.
Identyfikacja mikroorganizmów, głównie identyfikacja bakterii i wykrywanie patogenów jest niezwykle istotnym zagadnieniem w wielu dziedzinach mikrobiologii takich jak: diagnozowanie infekcji czy ochrona żywności. W tym artykule dokonano identyfikacji filtracji z pomocą bliskiej podczerwieni (długość fali od 900 nm do 2500 nm). Sprawdzono różne techniki klasyfikacji (CVA, ANN …). Osiągnięto 100% dokładność na ograniczonej liczbie próbek. Spektroskopia bliskiej podczerwieni (NIR) wydaje się być właściwą metodą do szybkiej identyfikacji bakterii. Metoda ta może być użyta do zabezpieczania żywności, w mikrobiologii, w walce przeciw bio-terroryzmowi, a także w badaniach środowiska.

In the past decade, there has been significant progress in development of the colloidal quantum dot (CQD) photodetectors. The QCD’s potential advantages include: cheap and easy fabrications, size-tuneable across wide infrared spectral region, and direct coating on silicon electronics for imaging, which potentially reduces array cost and offers new modifications like flexible infrared detectors. The performance of CQD high operating temperature (HOT) photodetectors is lower in comparison with detectors traditionally available on the global market (InGaAs, HgCdTe and type-II superlattices). In several papers their performance is compared with the semiempirical rule, “Rule 07” (specified in 2007) for P-on-n HgCdTe photodiodes. However, at present stage of technology, the fully-depleted background limited HgCdTe photodiodes can achieve the level of room-temperature dark current considerably lower than predicted by Rule 07. In this paper, the performance of HOT CQD photodetectors is compared with that predicted for depleted P-i-N HgCdTe photodiodes. Theoretical estimations are collated with experimental data for both HgCdTe photodiodes and CQD detectors. The presented estimates provide further encouragement for achieving low-cost and high performance MWIR and LWIR HgCdTe focal plane arrays operating in HOT conditions.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów gęstości widmowej napięcia szumów detektorów fotonowych o małych rezystancjach przy użyciu specjalnie opracowanego stanowiska pomiarowego. Badania tych detektorów mają duże znaczenie dla wielu aplikacji. Są one szczególnie istotne dla układów laserowej spektroskopii absorpcyjnej do wykrywania śladowych ilości gazów. Uzyskiwana w nich granica wykrywalności jest bezpośrednio związana nie tylko z szumami źródeł promieniowania i szumem tła, lecz także z szumami detektora oraz kolejnych stopni fotoodbiornika. Zastosowanie w opracowanym systemie specjalnie zaprojektowanych ultramałoszumowych torów pomiarowych (wzmacniacze o napięciu szumów 3,6 × 10⁻¹⁹ V² /Hz dla f > 1 kHz) oraz operacji korelacji sygnałów w czasie 10 minut umożliwiło uzyskanie szumu tła poniżej 10⁻¹⁸ V² /Hz dla f > 10 Hz oraz poniżej 10⁻¹⁹ V² /Hz dla f > 1 kHz. Efektywność systemu zweryfikowano poprzez pomiary referencyjnych rezystorów, a następnie detektora z supersieci drugiego rodzaju (T2SL) wykonanego z InAs/InAsSb.
The paper presents noise measurements of low-resistance photon detectors with a specially developed system. These measurements are significant for many applications. This issue is particularly critical for laser absorption spectroscopy systems to detect trace amounts of gases. In these systems, the detection limit is determined by noise origins, e.g., light source, background, and detector noise and its readout electronics. The use of some specially designed components of the system (low-noise - 3.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ V² /Hz for f >1 kHz) cross-correlation signal processing provides to obtain a measuring floor noise below 10⁻¹⁸ V² /Hz for f > 10 Hz and below 10⁻¹⁹ V² /Hz for f > 1 kHz after ten minutes’ analysis. Measurements of some reference resistors have verified the system’s performance. Finally, the system was also applied to determine the spectral noise density of the II-Type SuperLattice photodetector made of InAs/InAsSb.

During metal cutting process, an increase of the tool and workpiece temperatures can be observed. The heat generated has a negative influence on the tool life and performance. It causes rapid tool wear, plastic deformation of the cutting edge, built-up-edge formation and others. Therefore, the control of cutting temperature is required to achieve the desired tool performance. Temperature is the most frequently measured physical quantity, second only to time. Accurate temperature monitoring improves product quality and increases productivity. Downtimes are decreased, since the manufacturing processes can proceed without interruption and under optimal conditions. In this work, authors propose noncontact infrared method for determining temperature of machining processes. This was mainly due to thermography ability to catching moving targets in real time, to measure temperatures over some area not only in point. As a result of measurement, it is obtained a data set that is presented in a form of a colourful map: a thermogram. Getting an accurate temperature of an object using this method is difficult because of numerous errors, which researchers could done during experiments. This work presents some results of research done during turning and drilling realized on conventional lathe CDS 6250 BX-1000. These demonstrate the usefulness of proposed method to study the machining processes temperature.

Various chemical treatments of GaSb and related compounds has been studied with the aim to develop procedures of polishing of GaSb substrates, preparation of their surfaces for deposition of metal and dielectric films, for liquid phase epitaxial growth, and finally fabrication of passivating coatings on surfaces of GaSb and its alloys. A broad spectrum of surface characterisation techniques has been used to analyse morphology of the surface and its chemical composition after each of the treatments applied. This allowed us to elaborate a complete set of technological procedures necessary for the fabrication of the efficient GaSb- based photo- and light emitting diodes operating in the midi-infrared wavelength range.

Opis:
The influence of various concentrations of water suspensions of starch on the coefficient of reflection of the beam of infrared radiation was examined. A 20 W lamp, was used as the source of infrared radiation. For the detection of the reflected beam of infrared radiation, a photoresistor made PbS, was applied.
Badano wpływ różnych stężeń wodnej zawiesiny skrobi na współczynnik odbicia strumienia promieniowania podczerwonego. Jako źródło promieniowania podczerwonego zastosowano żarówkę o mocy 20 W. Do detekcji odbitego strumienia promieniowania podczerwonego zastosowano fotoopornik wykonany z PbS. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że: - stężenie wodnej zawiesiny skrobi można wyznaczyć za pomocą pomiaru współczynnika odbicia promieniowania podczerwonego (H), - wraz ze wzrostem średnicy ziaren fazy stałej maleje wartość współczynnika odbicia, - ze względu na znaczny wpływ temperatury na parametry fotoopornika niezbędne jest utrzymywanie go w stałej temperaturze w czasie pomiaru, - zmiana wartości pH od 3 do 11 nie wpływa na pomiar współczynnika odbicia i oznaczenie stężenia zawiesiny skrobi.

Omówiono główne czynniki wpływające na wybór zakresu spektralnego kamery termowizyjnej do badań w mikroelektronice: parametry katalogowe kamer, przebiegi krzywych kalibracyjnych oraz własności promienne mikroukładów. Dla oceny kamer opracowano procedurę i obliczono niepewność standardową pomiaru emisyjności i temperatury. Zwykle mniejszą niepewność oferują kamery średniofalowe, lecz inne czynniki mogą zdecydować o wyborze kamery długofalowej.
In microelectronics the accuracy of infrared thermography very often depends strongly on the IR camera spectral range. Cameras with different spectral ranges are usually compared using the uncertainty of temperature measurements. There are several works devoted to calculating this uncertainty. Unfortunately, in these works the uncertainty of emissivity measurements is arbitrarily determined, which makes it difficult to evaluate generally the accuracy of cameras. In the paper procedures for calculation of the relative combined standard uncertainties of emissivity and temperature measurements are proposed. Thanks to knowledge of the definition of some camera parameters it was possible to estimate well the uncertainty components coming from the camera by using statistical relationships and to achieve a high reliability of calculations. The calculation results allow one both to evaluate generally the uncertainties for IR cameras with various spectral ranges and to determine the conditions of obtaining low values of these uncertainties. The camera calibration curve shape influences not only the uncertainty but also the result of averaging temperatures in the camera ground instantaneous field-of-view. The dependence of this result on the spectral range is analysed in the work. In microelectronics the radiative properties of the components may often have the main influence on the choice of camera. Some of these properties and their impact on measurements are also discussed.

We describe construction and investigation results of optical trace gas sensor working in the 3.334-3.337 μm spectral range. Laser spectroscopy was performed with a multipass cell. A setup was elaborated for detection of ethane at the 3.3368035 μm absorption line. Analysis of the gas spectra and the experiment have shown that, beside C2H6, the sensor is suitable for simultaneous detection of methane, formaldehyde and water vapor. Due to nonlinearity of the laser power characteristic we decided to detect the fourth harmonic of signal. Additional laser wavelength modulation was applied for optical interference suppression. In result, the precision of ethane detection of approximately 80 ppt has been achieved for the averaging time of 20 seconds. Long-term stability as well as the measurement linearity have also been positively tested. The system is suitable for detecting potential biomarkers directly in human breath.

The presented study concerns development of a facial detection algorithm operating robustly in the thermal infrared spectrum. The paper presents a brief review of existing face detection algorithms, describes the experiment methodology and selected algorithms. For the comparative study of facial detection three methods presenting three different approaches were chosen, namely the Viola-Jones, YOLOv2 and Faster-RCNN. All these algorithms were investigated along with various configurations and parameters and evaluated using three publicly available thermal face datasets. The comparison of the original results of various experiments for the selected algorithms is presented.
