The aim of the article is to outline the theoretical framework for studying the relationship between the quality of the city’s recreational offering and the physical activity of its inhabitants. The study was based on a review of the literature and was supplemented with data from a pilot questionnaire survey. The pilot survey was conducted in 2016 and involved 180 inhabitants of Bielsko-Biała. Responses were collected during direct interviews based on the survey questionnaire consisting of two parts: International Physical Activity Questionnaire (short version) and recreational offering assessment questionnaire proposed by authors. The literature review revealed gaps in research and publications addressing the relationship between the quality of the city’s recreational product and the level of physical activity of its inhabitants, and results of previous studies vary depending on their location (which was also confirmed by the pilot survey). According to the authors’ pilot survey, the respondents preferred outdoor forms of physical activity (Nordic walking and fast walks). The majority of respondents can be classified as sufficiently active. No statistically significant findings were found between respondents’ assessment of the service staff or the recreational infrastructure and the level of physical activity reported by inhabitants of Bielsko-Biała who participated in the survey. The innovative character of the work consists in developing and testing during the pilot survey a new theoretical framework for researching relationships between the quality of the city’s recreational offering and the level of physical activity of its inhabitants. The authors propose extending the existing approaches involving mainly the assessment of recreational assets by including marketing, staff-related and organizational aspects. This calls for interdisciplinary research.

This study examines how the media and journalists are used in lobbying processes. To explore the topic a systematic review of the literature in peer-reviewed journals published between January 2000 to June 2018 was undertaken. The findings of this paper indicate that lobbyists and interest groups engage with a plethora of various strategies and systematic methods when influencing or trying to advocate the work of journalists and media organisations. The findings shed the mystery of lobbyists and interest group’s communicative attempts. This study increases the knowledge of the relationships between journalists and lobbyists in lobbying processes. Based on the literature review, the paper presents a categorised model of media influencing strategies in lobbying process.

The main aim of politicians’ actions (a struggle for power and retaining it) is connected with forming voters’ convictions, achieved, inter alia, with particular rhetorical strategies. Research demonstrated that in the analyzed material (programs of 11 Russian parties) three rhetorical strategies are employed: the lowering strategy, the elevation strategy and the theatricality strategy, implemented with the help of various tactics. The most frequently used strategy is undoubtedly the theatricality strategy, verbalized through the following tactics: encouraging, cooperating, separating, promising, anticipating and warning.

In this paper, the research progress of ammonium bisulfate (ABS) volatilization in coal-fired power plants the SCR denitrification process was reviewed. Combination with self-made experiments, SEM, flue gas analyzer and TG-DTG curves of ABS and ion chromatography. The volatilization and condensation characteristics of ABS were investigated carefully. Results show that as the temperature increased by 50 °C, the ABS/AS volatilization rate increased by an order of magnitude. The decomposition process of ABS should have a two-step reaction. The reaction in the initial volatilization stage is ABS dehydration turned into (NH4)2S2O7. The reaction in the rapid volatilization stage is (NH4)2S2O7 decomposed into NH3, N2, SO2 and H2O. There is an inter-section in the reac-tion temperature range (especially 300 °C) between the two-step reaction. This research provides an experimental basis for temperature control of ABS to avoid air pre-heater fouling.

This participant observation research explores and examines the strategies that prisoners use to influence prison officers in an Asian prison setting. Grounded theory methodology is employed in the analysis process. From the study, eight strategies of influence are conceptualised: repetition, distraction, finding excuses, feigning ignorance, false compliance, hearsay, direct hit and spontaneous protest. They are further subsumed under three main categories of Enhancers, Trouble Shooters and Resistors. On the other hand, there are three categories of prison officers with respect to their responses to the eight strategies of influence – Idealists, Pragmatists and Authoritarians. In summary, this study serves three objectives. First, it provides a fresh perspective on how prisoners attempt to influence prison officers in their daily interactions. Second, it has demonstrated that data collection through covert participant observation can be done effectively without causing any harm to the stakeholders in a prison setting. Lastly, this study has implications for the development of theory, practice and future research in the area of penology.

The topicality and the context of this research are related to the phenomenon of wellbeing and factors influencing it, regarding early childhood and primary school. The aim is to study, analyse, and identify the key factors of promoting the wellbeing and healthy lifestyle of a child. Children’s wellbeing, therefore, and health and safety are more than just physical wellbeing; it should be seen holistically, as a whole welfare, and it depends not only on the environment where the child is raised, but also involves emotional support from all the people who are connected with this little human being. Thus, the first years for children at school and also for teachers (especially young teachers who have just begun their career) are a special time in their life because during this period the experience of what the child and the teacher is, and how strong and essential their connection will be, is formed. It is very important already at the early stage to understand that each child is different; they have different physical and emotional development, individual characteristics, as well as a different approach to understanding and learning things. Therefore, in the primary school it is important for the teachers to create a positive, highly social, interactive and creative environment so that the children can develop and learn more successfully. Wellbeing has a great importance in the school environment in order to create teachers’ and children’s satisfaction with life, positive relationships with others, as well as a positive and successful learning environment. The family, as well as the teachers who are involved in the development of the children’s lives, especially in the first grades at school, are one of the most essential factors that define the personal growth of the young children.

Opis:
Voltage source converter-based multi-terminal high-voltage direct current (VSCMTDC) transmission system can realize a multi-point power supply, multi-drop power receiving, and mutual coordination between the converter stations to ensure the reliability of the transmission. Based on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform, a five-terminal DC transmission system model is established. According to the fast power regulation capability and overload capacity of theVSC-MTDC power transmission system, an analysis of additional emergency power support for a transmission system under large disturbance conditions was carried out. A new control strategy for emergency power support that introduces its basic principle is proposed in this paper. It uses the short-term overload capability of the DC system. By changing the power reserve of the converter station and the electrical distance between the converter stations, the influence of the power reserve and the electrical distance on the emergency power supply guarantee is analyzed the stability of the system is improved, thereby improving the sudden change of power caused by voltage fluctuations, and the feasibility of the control module is verified by PSCAD simulation. The simulation results show that when the system power supply suddenly changes, the converter stations at a short distance and large power reserve has a better effect on emergency power supply protection. A comparative study of the active power support of a single converter station and multiple converter stations is carried out. The research results show that the use of emergency power support in the DC transmission system has a good effect on maintaining the stability of the inter-connection system and the reliability of the power supply.

Heritage tourism destinations attract heterogeneous number of players each with significantly different interests at the expense of residents. Therefore, this study assesses impacts and patronage of heritage tourism sites on the host communities in Osun State, Nigeria. Data for this study was derived through questionnaire administration. Random sampling without replacement was used to select eleven (11) heritage tourism sites in which two hundred and twenty-two (222) questionnaire were administered residents. Findings revealed the propelling factors of the influx of tourist to the heritage sites are socio-economic (33.06%), service (17.75%), mobility (12.77%) and management factors (10.78%) and the possible outcomes are both  positive and negative, which were further categorized into Social, economic and environmental impacts. The implications of this study revealed the prominence of social vices such as increase in prostitution, traffic congestion, and noise pollution among others in the areas accommodating the heritage tourism sites, hence appropriate policies for proper guidance among the heritage tourism sites, the tourists and the residents.

Opis:
Despite strong development in Vietnam’s major cities, buses only contribute to city traffic. Bus services in Vietnamese towns do not yet meet passengers’ current needs and are not popular with passengers, especially in terms of time and convenience. This article analyzes the factors affecting urban people’s intention to use buses in Vietnam and, on that basis, makes recommendations to the authorities in cities to enhance the attractiveness of bus usage. Twenty-seven factors have been identified as affecting the need to travel by bus. The survey results show that there are still many barriers to attracting passengers using bus services in urban metropolitan areas. Therefore, urban governments in Vietnam need to adjust the current bus route network to suit the needs of the people, especially students, to increase its coverage.

Objectives: The purpose of this article is to identify the quantitative and qualitative methods applied by Russia in planning exerting influence on other countries, including members of the Visegrád Group. Methods: The research method used in this study consists in a systematic review of Russian and global political literature, as well as military literature, publications in the field of international relations, international politics, econometrics and forecasting, economy and management, in the aspect of the differences between the methods of forecasting the influence on other countries with respect to the methods described in international subject literature. Results: The conducted analysis of documents enabled the identification and drawing the characteristics of the strategic forecasting methods that Russia may apply to influence other countries. The study also identifies the institutions as well as researchers who deal with the issues related to forecasting influence on specific countries in Russia. Conclusions: Both the identified methods and the research centres focus on ensuring the effectiveness of Russian foreign policy that requires an accurate assessment of the current situation as well as detailed forecasts of potential events (scenarios) in the future. The method that deserves particular attention is the strategic matrix method, which has probably been modified, but its essential elements are still functioning.

The author presents the results of a research focused on finding a number of psychological characteristics of state administration and municipality managers who influence the school system at a regional level. The research, which was oriented towards determination of the value structure and preferences, comes out of the premise that values quite significantly regulate and correct human behaviour. The empiric probe signalizes that the tested persons do not show value recondition consistent with their professional roles and, at the same time, it also aspires to map mutual ties of the researched value aspects with other personality characteristics.

Evaluation of influencing the environment (OOS) is a new element, introduced by legal regulations into practice of spatial planning. They constitute a complex, multi-stage process of striking conscious decision involving planned investment decisions. The process ranges from a period of planning and projecting of the investment; through it's realization, to post-realization environment monitoring. In OOS procedure we can discriminate 3 main stages: prestudy, study and post-study. Valuations of influence are undoubtedly a very important instrument which regulates problems with environment quality management, including landscape. A systemic approach carried out by OOS provided appropriate valuations of endangerment to landscape, which is our common welfare, a value presented to man by nature.

The present article has a double purpose. Firstly, the author examines the evolution of public support levels for both the Polish EU membership, and euro introduction in Poland; correlations between them are briefly presented. The data is presented chronologically for both datasets, and in the case of EU membership support included the results of own research on relationship between partisanship and EU accession support. The author analyses the literature on the subject, indicating the factors thought to influence public consent in both cases, discussing in particular the impact of personal choice of supporting a given political party (and political stance) on the individual’s view on EU membership and euro introduction. Furthermore, a more detailed analysis of other factors influencing the acceptance of euro introduction in new countries is shown – once again based on recent literature, with particular attention paid to recent studies carried out in Poland, drawing attention to differences with the overall European studies – grouped by type, and supported by results of numerous polls conducted in Poland over the last several years. In the second part, the author presents a diagnosis of the drastically falling support for euro introduction in Poland – compared with steady acceptance for Polish EU membership – in correlation with the importance of correct information campaign as regards the euro. Here, the public›s own assessment of their level of knowledge about the euro currency is juxtaposed with the results of polls on euro support levels in Poland in historical approach, indicating the clear correlation between the two elements. Finally, a short analysis of the information campaign requirements and the current state of the same in Poland is presented.

The paper discusses leadership and management in the context of influencing people. It is an attempt to show that the ability to influence others effectively is a crucial skill of a successful leader and the essence of leadership. The author first presents some major management and leadership theories, focusing on those consistent with the aforementioned point of view. Furthermore, empirical evidence documenting the employees' perception of the Polish managers' influencing skills, based on a survey designed and implemented by the author, is presented. It concludes, however, that none of leadership skills, nor any combination of them, can guarantee the success of a leader. An effective leader needs to vary his style and adapt. Nonetheless, there are some major traits distinguishing outstanding leaders, which can also be linked to strong performance. The ability to influence people to reach organizational goals is one of them.

Problematyka niniejszego artykułu dotyczy programowania neurolingwistycznego (NLP). Przedstawiono w nim historię programowania neurolingwistycznego, podano możliwości jakie daje stosowanie tej techniki. Przybliżono w jaki sposób ludzki mózg odbiera i przetwarza informacje. Zaprezentowano podstawy skutecznej komunikacji. Na podstawie wyników własnego badania ankietowego ukazano wpływ stosowania technik NLP na satysfakcję klienta z obsługi, a tym samym na jego opinię na temat przedsiębiorstwa.
The article concerns Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It presents the history of NLP and the opportunities that this technique provides. It describes the way the human brain receives and processes information. It also presents the fundamentals of effective communication and on the basis of the author’s survey it shows the impact of the application of NLP on customer satisfaction with a service and, consequently, the opinion about the service provider.

Pierwszy etap budowy czterostopniowego modelu transportowego wymaga opracowania modelu powstawania ruchu. Obejmuje on identyfikację czynników ruchotwórczych oraz określenie ich wpływu na liczbę podróży generowanych. Właściwe przeprowadzenie tego procesu ma kluczowe znaczenie w dalszych etapach modelowania, a co za tym idzie – wpływa na jakość całego modelu transportowego. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd metod opracowywania modeli generowania ruchu wewnętrznego w obszarze miejskim. Jako zasadnicze kryterium klasyfikacji przyjęto zastosowaną technikę matematyczną odwzorowania procesu powstawania ruchu. Praktyczną część artykułu stanowi opis konstruowania modeli generowania ruchu opracowanych na potrzeby budowy modelu transportowego Bielska-Białej.
The first stage of the four-step travel demand model requires building of trip generation model. It covers identification of factors influencing travel demand and determination of their impact on the number of trips generated by the objects and areas located in the city. Proper conducting of this process is crucial for the further stages of modeling and thus for the quality of the whole constructed transportation model. The article presents an overview of methods for building models to generate internal traffic in urban area. As an essential criterion for the classification the used mathematical technique for mapping the process of trip generation has been adopted. The practical part of the article constitutes a structure of models of trip generation developed for the development of a transportation model of Bielsko-Biala.

Wykorzystując wyniki studiów literatury i prac własnych, zaproponowano wskaźnik śmiertelności demograficznejw wypadkach drogowych WSD jako miarę poziomu bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego. Zgromadzone zbiory dostępnych danych pozwoliły na zidentyfikowanie grupy najbardziej istotnych czynników wpływających na bezpieczeństwo ruchu drogowego na obszarze kraju. Opracowano model zmian tego wskaźnika WSD z wykorzystaniem funkcji potęgowo-wykładniczej uwzględniającej najbardziej istotne czynniki. Do budowy tej funkcji zastosowano kilkanaście zmiennych niezależnych reprezentujących charakterystyki przestrzenne, demograficzne, ekonomiczne, społeczne, motoryzacyjne, infrastrukturalne i transportowe analizowanych krajów, z których najbardziej istotnym okazał się poziom rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego. Przedstawiona w artykule funkcja opisująca zmiany wskaźnika WSD może być wykorzystana do wyjaśniania aktualnego stanu bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego w poszczególnych krajach oraz jego prognoz.
Based on a study of literature and own work the road accident demographic mortality rate (WSD) was developed as a measure of road safety. Sets of available data helped to identify groups of the most critical factors which affect a country's level of road safety. A model was developed to show how the WSD rate changes using the power-exponential function which includes the most relevant factors. The function is built from morę than ten independent variables representing spatial, demographic, economic, social, motorization, infrastructural and transport characteristics of the countries under analysis. It was established that the level of human-economic development is the most critical factor. The article presents a function which describes how the WSD rate changes. It can be used to explain a country's current level of road safety and its forecasts.

The article focuses on evaluation of human reliability in the human – machine system in the railway industry. Based on a survey of a train dispatcher and of selected activities, we have identified risk factors affecting the dispatcher‘s work and the evaluated risk level of their influence on the reliability and safety of preformed activities. The research took place at the authors‘ work place between 2012-2013. A survey method was used. With its help, authors were able to identify selected work activities of train dispatcher’s risk factors that affect his/her work and the evaluated seriousness of its in- fluence on the reliability and safety of performed activities. Amongst the most important finding fall expressions of un- clear and complicated internal regulations and work processes, a feeling of being overworked, fear for one’s safety at small, insufficiently protected stations.
Artykuł zawiera ocenę niezawodności człowieka realizującego swoje zadania w układzie antropotechnicznym charakterystycznym dla branży kolejowej. W oparciu o badania ankietowe dyspozytora ruchu kolejowego oraz badanie wybranych realizowanych przez niego czynności, zidentyfikowano czynniki ryzyka wpływające na pracę dyspozytora. Dzięki przeprowadzonym badaniom oceniono poziom ryzyka i jego wpływ na niezawodność i bezpieczeństwo czynności wykonywanych przez dyspozytora. Badania ankietowe zostały przeprowadzone na przełomie lat 2012-2013. Kwestionariusz ankietowy pozwolił zidentyfikować czynniki ryzyka dla wybranych czynności na stanowisku pracy dyspozytora kolejowego, które w poważny sposób determinują niezawodność i bezpieczeństwo badanych czynności. Do najważniejszych czynników ryzyka zaliczono wyrażone w sposób skomplikowany i niejasny wewnętrzne regulacje i polecenia służbo- we, przemęczenie oraz strach o własne bezpieczeństwo na małych, niedostatecznie chronionych stacjach kolejowych.

The article discusses the problem of the alternative financial services market functioning. This type of financial services is offered outside the regulated and supervised financial system. The aim of the article is a preliminary recognition and systematization of the most important factors influencing the decisions taken by individual financial consumers regarding the products and services of the alternative market. The article also aims to conduct the comparative analysis with regard to the use of the basic alternative financial services in countries with different levels of economic developments. The attempt made in the article of detecting appearing regularities on the market of basic alternative financial services in relation to the GDP per capita shows that the analysis in not giving explicit results and further research is required.
Artykuł podejmuje problem funkcjonowania rynku alternatywnych usług finansowych, czyli usług oferowanych poza regulowanym i nadzorowanym systemem finansowym. Celem jest wstępne rozpoznanie i usystematyzowanie najważniejszych czynników wpływających na podejmowanie decyzji w zakresie korzystania z produktów i usług rynku alternatywnego z punktu widzenia indywidualnych konsumentów finansowych oraz przeprowadzenie analizy porównawczej w zakresie wykorzystywania podstawowych produktów i usług finansowych oferowanych przez instytucje formalnego i alternatywnego rynku finansowego w krajach o zróżnicowanym poziomie gospodarczym. Podjęta próba wychwycenia prawidłowości występujących na rynku podstawowych produktów rynku alternatywnych usług finansowych w powiązaniu z PKB na mieszkańca wskazuje, że poszczególne analizy nie dają jednoznacznych wyników i wymagane są dalsze badania.

The article examines and generalizes factors that influence the competitiveness of products. From the investigated factors are allocated and structured factors influencing the competitiveness of food products. The most important of them - safety, quality and price. Also considered are factors such as trademark, advertising, competitors behavior, packaging, sales promotion, functionality, etc. It is established that in the aggregate all factors are the system of food products competitiveness at a separate food enterprise, and each individual factor depends on a number of other indicators. Affecting the competitiveness of products, factors change each other. Thus, the manufacturer must take into account the optimal ratio of factors of competitiveness of products.

The article presents the author's reflections on the identification of factors that shape the organizational culture of public universities. The author has made a careful comparative analysis of the factors which influence the organizational culture of two public universities. I described two universities, the oldest university of the pedagogy - Academy of Special Education and the oldest military academy - National Defense University. The essential contents are related to the comparison of these universities in terms of accepted criteria as having a significant impact on the organizational culture.

Opis:
The electrical cable reliability is largely linked to the state of its insulation, which can be threatened by the partial discharges (PDs) activity. This phenomenon is localized in defects created within insulation during the manufacture process and the cable installation. The cavity defect is among the most known defects within the insulating material filled with different gases and having various forms. Under electrical stress, the PDs occur and lead with time to a cable failure. The PDs simulation in cavity defect within cable insulation has became an important tool for a complementary understanding of the experimental task. The plasma model has been considered in last decade as an alternative to describe physically and chemically the PDs mechanism versus the other models such as the capacitance, conductance model. Using plasma model our work aims to simulate the PDs in cavity defect within cable insulation by showing the parameters influence such as the type of gas contained in the cavity, the voltage magnitude and frequency imposed on the insulation on their occurrence through its occurrence mechanisms. This helps to assess the PDs severity on the insulation system to carry out its diagnosis and therefore to have an effective reliability of cable.

W artykule dokonano analizy głównych czynników warunkujących działalność innowacyjną przedsiębiorstw w Polsce. Pomimo znaczącego wzrostu nakładów badawczo-rozwojowych w ostatnich dwóch dekadach, polskie przedsiębiorstwa, zarówno pod względem wskaźników innowacyjności i intensywności innowacji, jak i absolutnych wielkości nakładów na działalność innowacyjną, zajmowały w 2010 roku odległe miejsca w Unii Europejskiej. Dzieje się tak przede wszystkim z powodu niskiej dostępności zewnętrznych źródeł finansowych wsparcia działalności badawczo-rozwojowej i odliczeń podatkowych z tego tytułu, niejasności i braku spójności przepisów prawnych oraz zawiłych procedur administracyjnych i pozaadministracyjnych związanych z zakładaniem i prowadzeniem działalności gospodarczej. Bez znaczącej poprawy sytuacji w wymienionych powyżej obszarach stworzenie odpowiedniego modelu wsparcia innowacji, który przyczyni się do wzrostu ich natężenia i intensywności, nie będzie możliwe.
The study analyses the main factors influencing innovative activities in the enterprise sector in Poland. Despite a high increase in research and development expenditure achieved over the last two decades, Polish companies in 2010 were still occupying bottom places in the European Union in terms of innovation indicators, innovation intensity and absolute innovation investment. This is mainly due to low availability of external financial sources supporting research and development activities and tax deductions in that area, low quality and coherence of the existing rule of law and complex administrative procedures connected with starting and doing business. Without a significant improvement in the above-mentioned areas, creation of a proper innovation support model, which will contribute to increase in its scale and intensity, will not be possible.
В статье провели анализ основных факторов, обусловливающих инновационную деятельность предприятий в Польше. Несмотря на значительный рост расходов на исследования и развитие в последних двух декадах, польские предприятия как с точки зрения показателей инновационности и интенсивности инноваций, так и абсолютных объемов вложений в инновационную деятельность занимали в 2010 году далекие места в Европейском Союзе. Такая ситуация – результат прежде всего низкой доступности внешних финансовых источников оказания поддержки деятельности по исследованию и развитию и отчислений из налогов по этой статье, неясности и противоречивости законодательства, а также сложных административных и неадминистративных процедур, связанных с приступлением к экономической деятельности и ее осуществлением. Без значительного улучшения положения в вышеперечисленных обла- стях создание соответствующей модели поддержки инноваций, которая будет способствовать росту их масштабов и интенсивности, не будет возможным.
