Unfortunately, all the previous studies and analyzes of individual methods do not take into account the decisive role of man, which has a great influence on the effectiveness of the applied algorithm. The infiltration, or deliberate infiltration of unauthorized persons into the information collection, is divided into accidental and intentional, in turn, we divide into passive and active. For military computer systems one of the ways of infiltration can be described as computer espionage, which is particularly dangerous.

It is beneficial to develop pedotransfer relationships to estimate infiltration equation coefficients in site-specific conditions from readily available data. No systematic studies have been published concerning the relationships between the accuracy of the infiltration equation and the accuracy of the predicted coefficients in this equation. The objective of this work was to test the hypothesis that, for the same infiltration data, the accuracy of pedotransfer predictions for coefficients in an infiltration equation is greater for the infiltration equation that performs better. The hypothesis was tested using the commonly employed Horton and Mezencev (modified Kostiakov) infiltration equations with data from the Soil Water Infiltration Global database. The random forest machine learning algorithm was used to develop the pedotransfer model. The Horton and the Mezencev models performed better with 928 and 758 datasets, respectively. The accuracy of the estimates of the infiltration equation coefficients did not differ substantially between the estimates obtained from all data and from the data where the infiltration equation had lower root-mean-squared error values. The root-mean-squared error values of the pedotransfer estimates decreased by 2 to 25% when only datasets with the same infiltration measurement method were considered. The development of predictive pedotransfer equations with the data obtained from the same infiltration measurement method is recommended.

W artykule określono wielkość zasilania wód podziemnych na podstawie infiltracji opadów atmosferycznych. Badania prowadzono w zlewniach dwóch rzek: Rudawy i Stradomki, zlokalizowanych w południowej Polsce. Zasilanie z infiltracji opadów uzyskano na podstawie średniej wielkości opadów atmosferycznych oraz odpowiednio dobranych dla poszczególnych typów utworów powierzchniowych wskaźników infiltracji efektywnej. Obliczono również wielkość zasobów odnawialnych wód podziemnych za pomocą hydrologicznej metody Wundta, czyli wielkość przepływów w rzekach.
The paper describes the assessment of groundwater recharge on the basis of precipitation infiltration. Investigations were carried out on two selected catchments located in southern Poland: Rudawa and Stradomka. Groundwater recharge was assessed on the basis of the mean precipitation value and effective infiltration coefficients, well-chosen for individual types of surface material. Groundwater renewable resources, i.e. the amount of river flows obtained from the Wundt's method, are also presented. The results received from the two methods were compared.

Najprostszym sposobem „wykorzystania” wód opadowych jest ich zatrzymanie w miejscu opadu i skierowanie do gruntu. Systemy do wykorzystania wody deszczowej mogą być realizowane w różnych wariantach. W najprostszym układzie jest to zbiornik, do którego trafia odpływ z dachu. Instalowanie takiego zbiornika (niecki) przyczynia się do gospodarowania wodami deszczowymi. W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie metody wymiarowania niecek infiltracyjnych polegającej na wykonaniu obliczeń, dzięki którym można określić zmiany wymiarów niecki w odniesieniu do zmiany warunków gruntowych z zachowaniem tego samego napełnienia.
The easiest way to “use” rainwater is its detention in places where it falls, and referral to the ground. Systems of rainwater utilization system can be implemented in different variants. In the simplest configuration it is a tank, with a runoff from the roof. The principle of operation of the tank (basin) is a method for rain water management. The article presents a practical application of methods of dimensioning infiltration basins by performing calculations showing how to alter the dimensions of the basin when changing the ground conditions while maintaining the same filling.

All of the buildings in TUKE campus are connected on water main as only one source of water. There is no building with alternative source of water for non-potable uses so that potable water is used for drinking purposes as well as all others activities (flushing toilets, cleaning..). Drainage solutions of the TUKE campus are in traditional way too. The buildings situated in TUKE campus have a classical drainage system for rainwater runoff consist from traditional direct channelling of surface water through networks of pipes to sewer system except two buildings - PK6 and PK5 which have a drainage system for rainwater runoff designed through the infiltration facilities - infiltration shafts. This paper describe a big potential savings of potable water by the use of rainwater in TUKE campus as well as the big potential for “green” drainage solution - infiltration in TUKE campus.

Variable methods and results are reported on groundwater recharge in Poland. The evaluation of recharge on a small scale requires the use of a single method. In order to evaluate these outcomes and their distribution, the authors have decided to verify different approaches and select the infiltration coefficient by comparison. The article is an extension of the studies on groundwater recharge conducted by the authors. The main goal is to verify previously designed values of the infiltration coefficient based on groundwater runoff from additional river basins in Poland. Total groundwater recharge from precipitation in Poland was calculated at 34,118 km3 per year, which equals 109.3 mm of water column. The obtained value is close to the average multi-year value of the groundwater runoff. Recharge constituted 18.6% of average precipitation in Poland, which was calculated at 588.5 mm. The estimated groundwater recharge value was verified referring to groundwater runoff from 37 river basins with known discharge rates in the years 1976–2005. Differences in mean groundwater runoff for the entire area (37 river basins) obtained by the infiltration coefficient method and by the use of Wundt’s method amounts to only 0.7%. Despite the simplified calculation methods, the results obtained on a small scale are more accurate than other calculations, which are based on data pertaining to precipitation, soil type, land use, topography of the area, and depth to the groundwater.

Al2 O3 -Al2 TiO5 -TiO2 composites can be obtained by the infiltration of molecular titanium precursors into presintered α-Al2 O3 (corundum) cylinders. Two titanium tetra alkoxides, and two dialkoxy titanium bis (acetylacetonates) serve as precursors for TiO2 (rutile) and Al2 TiO5 (tialite). The precursors were infiltrated as ethanolic solutions. After sintering at 1550, 1600, and 1650°C, the prepared ceramics’ properties were investigated by SEM, in-situ HT-XRD, and conventional XRD. Titanium tetraisopropoxide leads to the highest content of Al2 TiO5 in the composite. The more reactive the precursor, considering the Al2 O3 /precursor interface, the lower and more anisotropic the grain growth, the more homogeneous is the TiO2 contribution and the higher is the content of Al2 TiO5 . Raising the sintering temperature causes an increase of the crystalline Al2 TiO5 content as well as of the grain growth. Moreover, the reactivity of the precursor molecule influences the Ti/(Al+Ti) ratio in the obtained tialite phase.

The water retention capacity of a territory is mainly defined by the land conditions, type of soil cover and manner of land management. The manifestations of the climate change reflect the need for better water capture from precipitation in agricultural catchment areas. The effect of the soil cover on the water retention capacity was studied in two localities with different soil types (chernozem and cambisol). The results have shown significant effects of permanent grass covers on increasing the water retention capacity. The mean retention capacity measured at permanent grass covers was 1.7-fold higher than at arable land. The soil type did not play a significant role. To some extent, the retention capacity is also influenced by the used agro-technology. After stubble-tillage, the water from precipitation was better infiltrated by arable land than by permanent grass cover. However, during a major part of the vegetation period, arable land is at the rest, and the short-term increase of its retention capacity has no impact on the overall outcome.

The aim of this study is to investigate tribological properties of EN AC-AlSi12 alloy composite materials matrix manufactured by pressure infiltration of Al2O3 porous preforms. In the paper, a technique of manufacturing composite materials was described in detail as well as wear resistance made on pin on disc was tested. Metallographic observations of wear traces of tested materials using stereoscopic and confocal microscopy were made. Studies allow concluding that obtained composite materials have much better wear resistance than the matrix alloy AlSil2. It was further proved that the developed technology of their preparation consisting of pressure infiltration of porous ceramic preforms can find a practical application.

The article presented the results of geochemical research of clean soil and soil contaminated with the leachate from the landfill. Two types of soil were studied – brown with a stony foundation and loamy. The aim of the research was to compare the impact of leachate infiltration on the changes of chemical parameters of soils and to determine their buffer properties and susceptibility to contamination on this basis. The obtained results showed that the total acidity, mineral alkalinity and chloride content in the studied soils reduced after the contamination with the landfill leachate. While the chloride content, general hardness and general alkalinity increased. It has been found that the effect of infiltration of the landfill leachate was the significant reduction of mineral substances due to their washout of the soil profile. It has also been shown that the studied landfill leachate contained substantial quantities of substances favourable to the plant growth.

The impact of selected initial conditions on changes in oxygen concentration and yeast concentration in open silage layer immediately after opening the silo was analyzed. A simple mathematical model of oxygen decomposition of silage was used for this purpose, taking into account spatial and temporal changes of oxygen and temperature, described by using diffusion equations.

Liczne badania wskazują na duże zanieczyszczenie ścieków opadowych odprowadzanych z terenów zurbanizowanych i ich negatywny wpływ na stan czystości i procesy biologiczne w odbiornikach. Na ilość odpływających ścieków do wód powierzchniowych oraz ich jakość ma wpływ szereg czynników związanych z charakterem zlewni, charakterystyką opadów, działaniem sieci kanalizacyjnej itp. Istnieją możliwości ograniczenia ilości ścieków deszczowych odprowadzanych systemami kanalizacji krytej na rzecz miejscowego ich zagospodarowania. Zatrzymanie spływów opadowych i niesionych przez nie zanieczyszczeń u źródła ich powstania przynosi liczne korzyści ekologiczne oraz może wpłynąć na ograniczenie kosztów budowy sieci kanalizacyjnej. W Polsce retencja i infiltracja ścieków opadowych jest stosowana sporadycznie, dlatego w artykule przedstawiono korzyści i ograniczenia z tym związane. Ponadto wskazano metody redukcji zanieczyszczenia ścieków opadowych spływających do kanalizacji deszczowej, a następnie do odbiornika. Przedstawiono także przepisy prawne dotyczące ochrony odbiorników wód deszczowych.
There is much research which points out the great pollution of rainwater sewage which arę disposed from the urbanized areas and shows their negative influence on the purity state and on the biological processes in the receivers. There arę many factors which have impact on the amount of the disposed sewage to the surface waters and on their quality, these factors arę connected with the drainage area character, the characteristics of the rainfalls, the working of sewage system, etc. There arę possibilities of limiting the amount of rainwater sewage, disposed by means of covered sewage systems, by local management of the sewage. The retention of the rain water falls and the sewage which is carried by them, in the source of their appearing, brings many ecological benefits and can also have influence on the costs limitation of building the sewage system. In Poland the retention and the infiltration of rainwater sewage is used sporadically and that is why in the article there was presented the benefits and the limitations which arę connected with that issue. What is morę, there were shown the methods of the reduction of rainwater sewage pollution which flow into the sewage system and then they flow to the receiver. There were also presented the law regulations which concern the protection of the rain water receivers.

Perennial flooding has become a major feature in urban areas in developing economies generating research interest towards finding alternative approaches to stormwater management which could complement the existing systems and help address the challenge of flooding. One of such alternative approaches is nature-based stormwater management and flood control, the implementation of which could be affected by soil erosion. This paper, as part of a wider research, was developed to determine the extent of the threat of soil erosion to stormwater management in an urban area on the example of Greater Accra Metropolitan Area, Accra Ghana as the focus of the research. Landsat 8 images (2014) were used in the research to prepare the Landcover maps. Daily rainfall data from 6 raingauge stations from 1972 to 2014 were utilized to prepare the rainfall erosivity factor maps, whereas DEM was used to prepare the slope and slope length (SL) factor maps. The land cover map with an overall accuracy of 73.6 and Kappa 0.7122 was combined with literature sources to prepare the vegetative cover factor map, and conservation practice factor map. A soil series map, prepared and updated with literature sources and data from the Harmonized World Soil Database on physical parameters, was used to calculate the soil erodibility factor (K factor) for each soil series. These were integrated into RUSLE model as 30 m raster maps to generate a soil loss map at tons/ha/yr. The results produced rainfall erosivity index values based on the modified Fournier index ranging between 0.058 and 23.197 which is classified as low. Low soil erodibility factor (K) ranging between 2.9×10–5 and 8.5×10–2 t ha/MJ mm indicated low susceptibility to erosion, SL factor value showing areas of low to almost flat relief with a few isolated areas of moderate slope length were generated. A soil loss of 69,5918 tons/ha/yr classified the soils as having high potential soil loss. The results showed a very low soil loss threat of 0–5.1853 tons/Ha/yr for more than 90% of the study area. Targeted intervention for source areas with high potential soil loss will contain any threat of erosion and sediment yield to the implementation of an infiltration-based stormwater management and flood control system.

Study on soil infiltration rate as part of water cycle is essential for managing water resources and designing irrigation systems. The present study was conducted with the aim to compare Kriging, inverse distance weighting (IDW), multilayer perceptron (MLP) and principal component analysis (PCA) methods in the interpolation of soil infiltration in furrow irrigation, and determine the best interpolation method. To conduct infiltration tests, furrows were made on the farm in four triad groups. Infiltration through the blocked furrows method was measured 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 90, 120, 150, 160, 180 and 210 min after irrigation at a 10-meter distance in each furrow. Data were analyzed by GS+ and Neuro Solutions (NS) software packages. In this study, the maximum error (ME), mean bias error (MBE), mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), relative error (RE) and correlation coefficient (r) were used to compare the interpolation methods. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicated that differences in methods based on RMSE, MBE, MAE and ME indices were not significant; however, this difference was significant based on r and RE indices. According to the ANOVA results, it can be said that the PCA method with a r of 0.69 and RE of 31%, was predicted with a higher accuracy as compared to other methods.

The aim of this research was to determine the influences of meteorological and hydrogeological factors on the water level of a rainwater storage and infiltration reservoir. The examined reservoir is located in the urban and industrial area of Krakow, on ground owned by the Polish State Railways (PKP), Kraków-Bieżanów branch. We analyzed a range of climatic (precipitation and evaporation) and hydrological factors (water stage in the reservoir and groundwater level) and their inter-relationships to determine their influences on the water depth regime in the storage and infiltration reservoir. Based on our results, the increase in the water table level in the reservoir is connected with the increase in the groundwater level and it is observed in the spring and summer periods, when meltwater and stormwater enter the reservoir. At the end of July, the groundwater table level increases because of excessive rainfall events. Throughout the entire experimental period, the reservoir was fed by infiltering groundwater from the upper parts of the basin. The water depth averages in the reservoir were closely correlated with the average groundwater table levels, the sum of precipitation from the week prior to the date of the examination of water depth in the reservoir, and the sum of potential evaporation in the given week.

Hydrological models can be useful tools simulating climate and land use changes and their impact on nutrients outflows from a catchment area. One of them is the HYPE (Hydrological Predictions for the Environment) water quality model applicable to different spatial scales. Groundwater recharge via infiltrating precipitation is a significant water budget component. The rate of groundwater recharge in the HYPE model is estimated from the water balance in soils. The Kocinka river catchment is one of the test areas in the BONUS-Soils2Sea project where HYPE model modelling was carried out. A hydrograph, among others, is one of the modelling results and, based on it, the recharge rate of groundwater was determined. This value was compared with groundwater recharge rates estimated by the infiltration method used for the Groundwater Vulnerability Map of Poland.

Liczne badania wskazują na duże zanieczyszczenie ścieków opadowych odprowadzanych z terenów zurbanizowanych i ich negatywny wpływ na stan czystości i procesy biologiczne w odbiornikach. Na ilość odpływających ścieków do wód powierzchniowych oraz ich jakość ma wpływ szereg czynników związanych z charakterem zlewni, charakterystyką opadów, działaniem sieci kanalizacyjnej itp. Istnieją możliwości ograniczenia ilości ścieków deszczowych odprowadzanych systemami kanalizacji krytej na rzecz miejscowego ich zagospodarowania. Zatrzymanie spływów opadowych i niesionych przez nie zanieczyszczeń u źródła ich powstania przynosi liczne korzyści ekologiczne oraz może wpłynąć na ograniczenie kosztów budowy sieci kanalizacyjnej. W Polsce retencja i infiltracja ścieków opadowych jest stosowana sporadycznie, dlatego w artykule przedstawiono korzyści i ograniczenia z tym związane. Ponadto wskazano metody redukcji zanieczyszczenia ścieków opadowych spływających do kanalizacji deszczowej, a następnie do odbiornika. Przedstawiono także przepisy prawne dotyczące ochrony odbiorników wód deszczowych.
There is much research which points out the great pollution of rain-water sewage which are discharged from the urbanized areas and shows their negative influence on the purity state and on the biological processes in the receivers. There are many factors which have impact on the amount of the disposed sewage to the surface waters and on their quality, these factors are connected with the drainage area character, the characteristics of the rainfalls, the working of sewage system, etc. There are possibilities of limiting the amount of rain-water sewage, disposed by means of covered sewage systems, by local management of the sewage. The retention of the rain water falls and the sewage which is carried by them, in the source of their appearing, brings many ecological benefits and can also have influence on the costs limitation of building the sewage system. In Poland the retention and the infiltration of rain-water sewage is used sporadically and that is why in the paper there was presented the benefits and the limitations which are connected with that issue. What is more, there were shown the methods of the reduction of rain-water sewage pollution which flow into the sewage system and then they flow to the receiver. There were also presented the law regulations which concern the protection of the rain water receivers.

The aim of the research was to create a draft concept for the management of rainwater from the area of a single-family housing estate through the use of retention and infiltration systems with the possibility of collecting rainwater on the surface or under its surface. These systems include: a storage reservoir, an absorbent trough, a rain garden, an infiltration basin, drainage boxes and root boxes. All devices have been designed in such a way that they harmonize with each other and create an extensive system of blue and green infrastructure, without overloading the sewage network. The amount of rainwater was also calculated and the planned devices were designed and dimensioned. The devices located in the estate were arranged in such a way that they could intercept water from every part of the drained area. They can hold a total of nearly 46.5 m3 of water at the same time. This gives a very high efficiency of operation in terms of protection of surface waters and retaining them at the place of their formation. Thanks to such a high absorbency of the devices used, the estate is able to work like a sponge. The accumulated water from the drained catchments is mostly drained directly into the soil profile. This has a positive effect on maintaining the appropriate quality and high level of groundwater. Water, infiltrating into the ground through drainage layers, undergoes natural pretreatment, limiting the migration of organic and mineral micro-pollutants. The applied infiltration allows to increase the efficiency of groundwater intakes without reducing their level excessively, and its maintenance is necessary to ensure an appropriate composition of these waters. Oxygenated water infiltrating the aquifer, which contains iron and manganese compounds, can oxidize sulphides to sulphates and dissolve ferric and manganese sulphates. This means an increase in costs and an extension of the purification and treatment process of the abstracted waters. The planned infiltration and retention system is of a landscape nature. It is related to the shape and development of the land surface and the directions of its use. At the same time, the systems used do not take up much space on the ground surface, give the impression of being natural, thanks to which the area around the buildings has become more attractive in terms of aesthetics and functional.

Infiltration process plays important role in water balance concept particularly in runoff analysis, groundwater recharged, and water conservation. Hence, increasing knowledge concerning infiltration process becomes essential for water manager to gain an effective solution to water resources problems. This study employed multiple linear regression for estimating infiltration rate where the soil properties used as the predictor variable and measured infiltration rate as the response variable. Field measurement was conducted at sixteen points to obtain infiltration rate using double ring infiltrometer and soil properties namely soil porosity, silt, clay, sand content, degree of saturation, and water content. The result showed that measured infiltration rate had an average initial infiltration rate (f0) of 6.92 mm∙min–1 and final infiltration rate (fc) of 1.49 mm∙min–1. Soil porosity and sand content showed a positive correlation with infiltration rate by 0.842, 0.639, respectively, while silt, clay, water content, and degree of saturation exhibited a negative correlation by –0.631, –0.743, –0.66 and –0.49, respectively. Three types of regression equations were established based on type of soil properties used as predictor variables. The model performance analysis was conducted for each equation and the result shows that the equation with five predictor variables fMLR_3 = – 62.014 + 1.142 soil porosity – 0.205 clay, – 0.063 sand – 0.301, silt + 0.07 soil water content with R2 (0.87) and Nash–Sutcliffe (0.998) gave the best result for estimating infiltration rate. The study found that soil porosity contributes mostly to the regression equation that indicates great influence in controlling soil infiltration behavior.

Research were conducted within two experimental fields differing from each other in land use. The source of percolating water and shallow groundwater within both fields is primarily the rainwater which controls their ionic and gaseous content. Considerable air pollution affects the rainwater falling on Warsaw. The chemical composition of the rainwaters should be considered as the first factor responsible for the observed differences in ionic and gaseous composition of percolating water within the two experimental fields. Subsequent chemical changes of these waters during infiltration depend on the character of the geologic profile and the rate of infiltration.

The most of the on site wastewater treatment systems in Poland discharges treated effluent to the soil. The goal of phosphorus (P) reduction from dispersed sources of pollution can be achieved by application of P reactive materials in the construction of wastewater infiltration systems. Two P reactive materials were tested in this study: Polonite® in grains of 2÷6 mm and lightweight aggregate Leca® in grains of 4÷10 mm. Apparent P sorption capacity was assesed on 40.9 mg·g-1 (Polonite®) and 5.1 mg·g-1 (Leca®). Both materials sorbed P-PO4 very fast, after 15 min over 90% of P was removed from solution and wastwater. Wastewater used in this study came from the outlet from the septic tank of on site septic system. P-PO4 solution was prepared from KH2 PO4 and the tap water. In the small column experiment, four collumns (2 filled with Polonite® and 2 filled with Leca®) were fed with wastewater and P-PO4 solution in hydraulic loadings of 30÷40 dm3 ·m-2·d-1. All the columns removed significant amounts of P from both solution and wastewater with the reduction between 28.3% and 72.5%. The mean P-PO4 effluent concentrations ranged from 1.21 mg·dm-3 to 7.12 mg·dm-3. The best overall performance was achieved by the Polonite® fed with solution. Both tested materials can support wastewater treatment in on site systems.

The study deals with definition and cross-comparison of soil infiltration capacity at two selected sites located in cadastral territories of Nosislav and Žabčice, Czech Republic. In order to assess the soil infiltration capacity in the areas of interest Niva and Kovál over the course of the 2010 growing season, four trips were made with three measurements taking place during each trip. A method of doublering infiltration measurement was applied, based on the use of two concentric cylinders in field conditions and the subsequent data processing via geographical-empirical method according to Kostiakov. The soil infiltration capacity was assessed with regard to physical properties determined by an analysis of intact soil samples using Kopecky cylinders. The results indicate a reduced infiltration capacity due to soil compaction and also significant differences between the two sites, primarily caused by differences in soil type and, hence, different physical characteristics.

Zaprezentowano metodę odlewania metalowych materiałów kompozytowych bazujących na metalach lekkich, zbrojonych cenosferami - materiałem odpadowym o niskiej masie właściwej. Cenosfery, stanowiące produkt uszlachetniania popiołów lotnych metodą flotacji, zostały uformowane w porowate kształtki ceramiczne i poddane ciśnieniowej infiltracji ciekłym stopem aluminium na specjalnie przygotowanej prasie hydraulicznej. Badania wykazały, że prawidłowy dobór takich parametrów procesu, jak: ciśnienie prasowania, temperatura stopu i preformy ceramicznej jest niezbędny do wytworzenia wyrobów kompozytowych odznaczających się niską gęstością, obniżonym przewodnictwem cieplnym, odpornością na zużycie cierne oraz wysoką zdolnością tłumienia.
The paper presents a method of casting metal matrix composite materials based on light alloys reinforced with cenospheres. The cenospheres, which are product of fly ash processing by flotation, were formed into the porous ceramic shaped elements and subjected to pressure infiltration with liquid metal on a specially designed hydraulic press. Studies have shown that proper selection of process parameters, such as squeeze pressure, temperature of alloy and ceramic preform is necessary to obtain satisfactory properties of the ready composite products.
