In this chapter, an attempt to analyze ąuality of predictions of industrial enterprises is described. Data originates from monthly questionnaires conducted by the Institute of Economic Developments Warsaw School of Economics. Usually, two groups of questions are included in questionnaires of overall economic situation. First group concerns current values of various economic variables, second one - changes in these values in near futurę. Expectations of respondents create a certain expert system of predictions. The obvious question is: what is the quality of these predictions? In this chapter, attention has been focused on industrial output which plays a major part in building a comprehensiye coefficient of economic conditions of industry.

The aim of the article is to develop a theoretical model that would allow the examination of the relationship between the degree of internationalisation of industry and its potential development. The framework groups the determinants into three categories: industry’s transaction cost level, industry life cycle and country development level. Each of the determinants is discussed separately with a presentation of variables that could be used in an empirical study. The paper also suggests possible hypotheses that are developed on the basis of literature studies and observations.

The article points to the specific nature of social functioning of IT specialists in three areas (attitudes towards: superiors, co-workers, self-development). What is also described are the specifics of the development needs of this professional group. Competition is an indispensable element of business activity; it is also the engine of technological progress and development of industries, regions and countries. However, the ties that are established between entities in the economic reality do not only take the form of competition. This approach has become particularly important in the last fifty years, in the conditions of progressive globalisation, the development of information technologies and the growing role of innovation as a key success factor in business. Paradoxically, the increase in the intensity of competition has led to a greater interest in relationships in which cooperation is intertwined with competition. Recent popularity of the cluster concept indicates that business entities are interested in the phenomenon of simultaneous cooperation and competition as an effective business strategy. The aim of this article is to answer the question whether it is possible to assume that clusters play a positive role in the development of industries. The research presented in the article is qualitative and is based on literature studies. The first part of the article presents the industry as a meso-economic research unit. The authors consider a cluster as an element of industry’s operation. The most important benefits of cluster operations are indicated. In the light of the literature studies presented, it can be concluded that a positive impact of clusters on the industry does exist, but the definition of boundary conditions, which must be met in order for these effects to be realistically felt, requires further research.
Rywalizacja jest nieodzownym elementem działalności przedsiębiorstw; stanowi także motor postępu technologicznego oraz rozwoju branż, regionów i państw. Jednakże więzi, jakie nawiązywane są pomiędzy podmiotami w rzeczywistości gospodarczej nie przybierają wyłącznie formy konkurencji. Podejście to stało się szczególnie istotne w ostatnich pięćdziesięciu latach, w warunkach postępującej globalizacji, rozwoju technologii informacyjnych oraz rosnącej roli innowacji jako kluczowego czynnika sukcesu w działalności gospodarczej. Paradoksalnie wzrost natężenia rywalizacji doprowadził do wzrostu zainteresowania relacjami, w których partnerstwo przeplata się z konkurencją. Jednym z przejawów zainteresowania podmiotów gospodarczych zjawiskiem jednoczesnej kooperacji i rywalizacji, jako skutecznej postawy strategicznej, jest rozwój koncepcji klastrów. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie, czy istnieją przesłanki pozwalające założyć, że klastry odgrywają pozytywną rolę w rozwoju branż. Przedstawione w artykule badania mają charakter badań jakościowych, wtórnych i polegają na studiach literaturowych.  W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono branżę jako mezoekonomiczną jednostkę badawczą. W dalszej kolejności w rozważaniach skoncentrowano się na klastrze jako elemencie funkcjonowania branży. Następnie wskazano najważniejsze korzyści płynące z działalności klastrów. W świetle przeprowadzonych studiów literaturowych można uznać, że wpływ klastrów na branżę istnieje, jednak określenie warunków brzegowych, jakie muszą zostać spełnione, aby skutki te były realnie odczuwalne, wymaga dalszych badań.

The role of intellectual organizations in the formation of professional competence, social adaptability and volitional qualities of workers of marine industry is actual in terms of growth of natural and man-made emergency situations, unstable socio-economic environment. In the marine industry, except for the education system and research, such organizations have prospects of development as the most competitive in the shipbuilding, fishing industry, port management, the logistics of fishing in the ocean and coastal fisheries, transport and storage prior to further processing. In this article is proposed a holistic resource approach to the formation of intellectual organization as a major maritime educational complex that integrates all stages of maritime specialist training, from a seaman to a master of a large ship including active research and intense maritime practice.

W artykule przedstawiono niektóre rodzaje samochodów osobowych eksploatowanych przez sektor cywilny, jak też przez sektor wojenny podczas II wojny światowej. Zasadniczym kryterium przyjętym w artykule było wykorzystanie gazu generatorowego jako paliwa do napędu tego typu pojazdów. Były one produkowane w różnych krajach, potrzebę tego typu konstrukcji i produkcji wymusił m.in. kryzys paliwowy, także brak benzyny, paliw płynnych które zużywano na potrzeby wojny. W skład artykułu wchodzą ryciny, schematy, które ilustrują graficznie przedstawione zagadnienie.
This article presents chosen types of passenger cars exploited by the civil sector, as well as by the war sector, during World War II. The basic criterion applied in the article was the usage of producer gas as fuel for driving this type of vehicles. These were produced in various countries and the need for this type of constructions and production was forced, inter alia, by the fuel crisis, as well as by the lack of fuel, liquid fuels, which were used for the needs of the war. The article includes figures and diagrams which graphically illustrate the presented topic.

The article presents a proposal for the development of soda industry landfills on the example of a former Cracow Soda Works "Solvay". The area is located in close proximity to the center of Krakow and is surrounded by places of worship. The analyzed area is characterized by specific physical and chemical properties of the substrate (soda production waste) that manifest themselves e.g. in very high salinity and the presence of numerous processes of water erosion. The former landfill covers an area of 1 km2 and is a natural link between the two large settlements in the southern part of Krakow, namely Kurdwanów and Borek Fałęcki. The developed landscape concept is based on a detailed analysis of the physicochemical substrate and the conditions necessary for the foundation of buildings and civil engineering. In the research phase, the technical and natural inventory was made, and a detailed review of the literature in the field of land use with similar properties was performed. The designing process was guided by the information contained in the available planning documents and the needs of the local community, which presented in the literature of other scientists. As a result of the research, the concept of omni-zoning area landfills was established. The main assumptions are based on the concept of the nineteenth-century idea of the garden city, consisting in dividing the area into 6 main thematic areas, i.e. parks, which are described in detail in the article. The main functions (leisure and recreation) have been supplemented with historical and touristic elements.

The purpose of the article was to assess the innovation of the food industry in the EU Member States. Innovation of the food industry was compared with the level of economic development of countries, innovative enterprises in general, and the importance of the food industry of individual countries in the domestic economy and the EU. The analyzes were based on data from the Eurostat database. The results indicate the occurrence of the relationship between the level of innovation of enterprises of the food industry and the level of economic development of countries and the overall innovation performance of enterprises in the manufacturing sector. In this regard, we observed it in general as a priority for countries of the old EU. In the case of Germany, Italy, Belgium and the UK, it was also heavily associated with countries in the EU food industry. Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Portugal were characterized by high levels of innovation of the food industry despite the relatively low level of GDP per capita and overall enterprise innovation.
Celem artykułu jest próba oceny innowacyjności przemysłu spożywczego w krajach członkowskich Unii Europejskiej. Innowacyjność przemysłu spożywczego zestawiono z poziomem rozwoju gospodarczego krajów, innowacyjnością przedsiębiorstw ogółem oraz znaczeniem przemysłu spożywczego poszczególnych państw w gospodarce krajowej i unijnej. Analizę przeprowadzono na podstawie danych pochodzących z bazy danych Eurostat. Wyniki badań wskazują na występowanie zależności między poziomem innowacyjności przedsiębiorstw przemysłu spożywczego a stopniem rozwoju gospodarczego krajów oraz ogólną innowacyjnością przedsiębiorstw sektora wytwórczego. W tym zakresie można było zaobserwować ogólne pierwszeństwo krajów starej UE. W przypadku Niemiec, Włoch, Belgii i Wielkiej Brytanii było to związane także z dużym znaczeniem tych krajów w przemyśle spożywczym UE. Wysoką innowacyjnością przemysłu spożywczego – mimo relatywnie niskiego poziomu PKB per capita i ogólnej innowacyjności przedsiębiorstw – wyróżniały się Estonia, Litwa, Czechy i Portugalia.
