The mechanism and kinetics of oxidation of Inconel 617 and 625 alloys in air atmosphere were investigated. Materials were examined by the thermogravimetric method. The X-ray diffraction spectrometer (XRD) was used to observation change in chemical composition the oxide scales of Inconel alloys specimens. Oxidation kinetics was determined from weight-change measurements. The surface and microstructure of the sample were observed in an optical microscope (OM) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the oxide scales of the alloys were compact and continuous. The layer were contained as the outer of Cr2O3, and the internal of NiCr2O4 spinel, NiO and other oxides. Oxides’ scales with good adherence were formed on the surface of alloys. The kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of oxides formation were calculated and discussed for both alloys.

Designers have a major interest about fatigue properties of materials used in transport industry. Each component in transport works under alternating stress. From this point of view the fatigue properties are important for single parts lifetime resulting into safety of whole components as cars and airplanes what leads to safety on the roads or air and have influence on human life as well. Therefore this paper deals with fatigue properties of wrought Inconel alloy IN 718 and aluminum cast alloy AlSi9Cu3. Both materials were put on fatigue push – pull test, but Ni – based IN 718 alloy at frequency of loading around 20 000 kHz (High Frequency High Cycles Fatigue) and aluminum alloy AlSi9Cu3 at frequency of loading around 80 Hz (Low Frequency High Cycles Fatigue). These parameters were chosen with respect of usage such materials for production of components used in transport industry applications. Results after fatigue tests are presented as Wohler curve. For prediction of source of fracture the SEM fractography analysis of fatigue fracture surfaces was made.

Opis:
The article presents the test results of thermal efficiency of the welded thin heatresistant sheets of Inconel 718 nickel alloys using the Trudisk 4002 instalated in the TruLaser 5020 equipment. The thermal efficiency of the laser was determined using a water-cooled calorimeter. Thin sheet metal samples 0,7 and 0,9 mm, installed in the calorimeter were subjected to a laser beam with the power of 400 to 700 W, moved along the line at a constant speed Vs = 25 mm/s. The thermal efficiency was calculated as the quotient of the heat absorber by the welded sheets, determined calorimetrically, to the total amount of heat generated by the laser. The results show that thermal efficiency depends non-linearly on the laser power. The thickness of the plates to be welded does not affect efficiency. As the power of the laser increases from 400 to 600 W, thermal efficiency decreases three times from 21% to 7%, and with the increase of its power to 700 W, thermal efficiency increases to 28%.

Opis:
Electron Beam Welding (EBM) is a high-energy density fusion process where joint is bombarded to be welded with strongly focused beam of electrons. This method is often used for advanced materials and complex, critical parts, like turbine rotors, but it can also be used for many simpler processes involving large production runs. It is very suitable for butt welding materials of different thicknesses. The aim of this work was to study the microstructure, hardness, and electrochemical corrosion behavior between the dissimilar welds were investigated. Electron Beam Welding of dissimilar steel alloys Inconel 625 and AISI 430 was studied. In welding process there was used only welded materials without filling material. Results showed the microstructure of the weld solidified in dendritic morphology. The microstructure of fusion zone showed that dendrites grew in different directions for each grain. The dendrites and columnar grains are mainly exposed to the fusion boundary with some equiaxed grains. The hardness of the overall joint was non-uniform. The highest hardness of the HAZ/Inconel 625 (the heat-affected zone) was 258 HV, and the lowest weld zone hardness was 178 HV. The decrease in weld hardness may be due to the linear welding energy, which led to grain growth and excessive cooling. HAZ/AISI 430 steel has the lowest current density and the highest corrosion potential. Steel has a more negative corrosion potential and a lower corrosion current density than joints, likely due to higher levels of chromium. In this study, a metallographic investigation of the joints revealed no defects such as microcracks or pores. The melting temperatures of the two materials were quite different, but with the help of gravity, stainless steel acts as a permanent joint, like a rivet.

Opis:
The nickel alloys of the Inconel type (containing above 15wt% of chromium), used in many industrial applications, including the manufacture of aircraft, chemistry, power generation, and material processing, have advantageous mechanical properties, high plasticity and good corrosion resistance, but their frictional wear resistance is poor. This drawback can be obviated by subjecting the alloys to surface treatments. The paper describes the structure and properties of nitrided layers produced on the Inconel 625 nickel alloy (20wt.%Cr, 10wt.%Mo, 5wt%Fe, 1wt%Co, balance-Ni). It was found that the diffusive chromium nitride layers produced on the alloy surface improve the hardness, frictional wear resistance, and fatigue strength of the alloy.

Opis:
This paper studied the effect of laser welding technology on dissimilar metal welding joints of TA15 titanium alloy and Inconel 718 nickel-based alloy. The research results indicate that the laser welding of TA15 titanium alloy and Inconel 718 nickel-based alloy directly was difficult to form well, which due to the intermetallic compounds caused the joint brittle. When the pure Cu foil was used as the filling layer, the quality of the welding joints can be improved effectively. The experimental results also indicate that there were brittle intermetallic-compounds in the laser welding seam, and the laser power had an important influence on the performance and mechanical properties of the dissimilar metal joint. The maximum average tensile strength of the welding joint of 2300 W was increased to 252.32 MPa. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) results show that the fracture morphology was river pattern, a typical morphological of cleavage fracture, and the mode was brittle fracture.

High-quality products include those with better surface quality and texture, close dimensional tolerances and form accuracies at precise level, increase fatigue life and burr-free. Burr formation is one of the most common inevitable facts occurring in all material removal processes, reduces assembly and machined part quality. But, burr formation during milling is a more complex mechanism compare to remaining machining burrs and leads to numerous difficulties during the deburring process. To prevent this, one should optimize the combination of cutting parameters during machining itself. In order to build up a link between quality and productivity and to attain the same in the cost-effective way, the present work concentrate on multi objective optimization of CNC end milling process parameters. Multiple performance characteristics with respect to surface quality and performance index like assembly work have been put up, to assess an equivalent single quality index (called grey relational grade) has been optimized finally by Grey based Taguchi method. After that priority weight of individual quality and performance attributes has been estimated by entropy measurement technique on the basis of relative significance and check the feasibility of the proposed technique has been demonstrated in this context.

Opis:
Inconel 713C is a nickel-based casting alloy characterised by improved heat and creep resistance [1]. It is used e.g. in aircraft engine components, mainly in the form of precision castings. Precision casting enables very good reproduction of complex shapes. However, due to major differences in casting wall thickness and the resultant differences in rigidity, defects can form in precision castings. The most common defects in precision castings are shrinkage porosities and microcracks. Inconel 713C is considered to be a difficult-to-weld or even non-weldable alloy. However, the need to repair precision castings requires attempts to develop technologies for their remelting and pad welding which could be used in industrial practice. This article presents the results of tests consisting in TIG pad welding of defects identified in precision castings intended for the aircraft industry. It was found that the main reason behind failed attempts at repairing precision castings by welding technologies was hot cracking in the fusion zone. Such cracks form as a result of the partial melting of intercrystalline regions along the fusion line. The deformations occurring during the crystallization of the melting-affected zone (fusion zone + partially melted zone + heat affected zone) or pad weld lead to the rupture of the intercrystalline liquid film. Hot cracks form within the so-called high-temperature brittleness range (HTBR) of the alloy. Another type of cracks that was identified were ductility dip cracks (DDC), whose formation is related to the partial melting of carbides.

Opis:
Inconel 713C alloy belongs to the group of materials with high application potential in the aerospace industry. This nickel alloy has excellent features such as high strength, good surface stability, high creep and corrosion resistance. The paper presents the results of metallographic examinations of a base material and padding welds made by laser beam on the Inconel 713C alloy. The tests were made on precisely cast test plates imitating low - pressure turbine blades dedicated for the aerospace industry. Observations of the macro- and microstructure of the padding welds, heat-affected zone and base material indicate, that the Inconel 713C alloy should be classified as a hard-to-weld material. In the investigated joint, cracking of the material is disclosed mainly in the heat-affected zone and at the melted zone interface, where pad weld crystals formed on partially melted grains. The results show that phases rich with chromium and molybdenum were formed by high temperature during welding process, which was confirmed by EDS analysis of chemical composition.

Opis:
The group of nickel-based superalloys produced in the DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) process is limited to materials, which produced conventionally do not have properties to allow to use them for rotating components of aircraft engines. This work attempts to optimize the technological parameters of the DMLS process for the Inconel 713C nickel superalloy. A heat treatment was performed for selected samples to investigate the effect on the morphology of the Ni3Al phase. The microstructure analysis and hardness tests were carried out. The material after the DMLS process was characterized by the presence of much smaller dendrites than the cast material and exceeded its hardness. Additionally, for the tested variants of heat treatment, the material was characterized by smaller sizes of the Ni3Al phase by more than half. In order to ensure the stability of the microstructure, further optimization of the dedicated heat treatment after the DMLS process is required, as the standard heat treatment for Inconel 713C cast nickel superalloy does not fully recrystallize the material.
