Opis:
During faunistic studies of ciliates in coastal waters of Daya Bay and Bohai Bay, China, two previously unknown ciliates were discovered and investigated using standard taxonomic methods. Morphological comparative analyses revealed that they represent two novel species in the genus Chaenea. Chaenea paucistriata spec. nov. can be distinguished from its congeners by the following traits: body length in vivo about 180–250 µm; eight somatic kineties; dorsal brush rows 1–4 consisting of three, five, seven, and two dikinetids, respectively; rod-like extrusomes, 8 µm long; 63–94 macronuclei; cortical granules minute and colourless. Chaenea sinica spec. nov. differs from its congeners in having: body length in vivo about 140–240 µm; 17–21 somatic kineties; dorsal brush rows 1–4 consisting of 3–7, 10 or 11, 11–13, and 3–6 dikinetids, respectively; rod-like extrusomes about 6–8 µm long; 71–164 macronuclei. A key is presented to assist the identification of all Chaenea species.

Opis:
The paper provides data on a new antropophyte species - Typha laxmannii Lepech. which spreads throughout Poland as a hemiagriophyte. Its present distribution in Poland is given on a cartogramme map in a 10×10 km square grid and its geographic element, population numbers and notes on habitats are provided. An identification key to 5 species of the Typha genus, two native, one new which is the topic of this paper, and two which can be expected to be discovered in Poland.

Opis:
Leaf hair types in Polish selected taxa from Potentilla subsect. Collinae Juz., i.e. P. collina Wibel s.str., P. silesiaca Uechtr. P. thyrsiflora Hillsen ex Zimmeter, P. wimanniana Gilnther and Schummel, P. leucopolitana P.J. Milller and P. leucopolitana P.J. Milller x P. incana P. Graebner were studied. A total of five unicellular hair types could be distinguished, based on the structure of the hair: straight, involuted, crispate, curved and stellate. The occurrence of involuted, curved and stellate hairs was observed for the first time for the majority of investigated taxa. There is a variation in density, position, as well as in the number of arms of stellate hairs. Although they are difficult to see without a stereo microscope, these differences seem to be systematically important. The study of hair types on surfaces of leaves supports the opinion that P. collina s.lato is a hybrid between P. argentea L. s.la-to, P. tabernaemontani Ascherson and P. incana P. Gaertner. Hairs form consistent characters which are highly suited for systematic purposes. The key to Polish taxa based on leaf hair types is given as well.

Opis:
This paper is one of the first studies dedicated to the extensive examination of the dynamics of key sectors in Poland in the period of transition. The research was based on the maximum entropy decomposition of the Leontief inverse applied to the highly-disaggregated input-output tables covering the period of 2000–2005. The results allow formulating the list of sectors, which, more or less, have preserved the status of the key sectors in Poland. In turn, some sectors (especially the financial-intermediation- and food-and-agriculture-related ones) have significantly derailed, while services-related sectors (including the transport, tourism, and trade services) have clearly gained in importance. These facts, together with rising importance of certain manufacturing sectors, may suggest that Poland has largely managed to avoid the most negative consequences of the process of de-industrialization, which has been taking place in CEE from the beginning of transition.

Opis:
The paper presents the role of PWPW, as a company with some attributes of a natural monopoly, in contemporary Polish economy. It shows that commercial companies – performing special tasks which are necessary for the functioning of state and which concern identification as well as transactional security and at the same time take advantages of the economy of scale and range as a condition of their presence and development – have a logically justified place in the economy. They are a source of benefits for shareholders in the form of taxes, divi-dends and other economic benefits, as well as the value of the company itself. Moreover, they are creators of domestic employment and they enrich the national potential of technology. Also, such firms provide a right level of identification and transactional security, which influences the stability and reliability of legal and economic relations.
