Opis:
Historians of philosophy use the word genesis fairly freely. Most often it is supposed to denote the beginning of a certain trend, variously understood, a problem, argument, or, broadly speaking, a certain idea. Nevertheless, as Karl Jaspers pointed aptly, the beginning is something historical, something that once happened in a given time. In this sense it is always single and unrepeatable. If, however, some trends and ideas always recur in philosophy, it is better to speak about a source, or, perhaps, a few sources than about a beginning. It seems that the use of the term „genesis” to define such a source is legitimate. A source is, however, a genesis of another tpe than beginning, because in a sense it eludes time. The impulse stimulating to philosophizing flows from the sources on and on in various epochs. The paper first discusses the genesis of philosophical ideas understood as a beginning, then genesis understood as a source.

Opis:
The study seeks to take a stance in the ongoing discussions on the Platonic philosophy. The subject-matter of the debate is the status of writings in the Platonic philosophy, and to be more precise, to find an answer to the question whether Platonic writings are a reliable source for the re-construction of a “true” Plato’s philosophy. There are two schools: the Tübingen School and the Milan School, which have formulated the so-called “new paradigm” in which to interpret Plato. This paradigm assumes that in the Philosopher’s dialogues we shall not find, explicitly, his “true” knowledge about principles, the one that was lectured in the Academy. The paradigm uses two key arguments, the so-called Platonic “criticisms of the writing” (Faidros, Letter VII), according to which the “true” philosophy, carried out in a living dialectic discourse with a partner or disciple, may not be fixed in the form of writing. The study sought to verify evaluations of particular excerpts from Platonic writings as a criticism of the writing/text, especially the part of the Letter VII. The point is also to reconstruct Platonic dialectic: synoptic dialectic whose point of departure is αἴσqησις (sense perception). This dialectic makes one approve of the necessity of some general concepts understood as models (παραδείγματα). The author defines this dialectic as hypothetical (ὑπόqεσις), for it leads to assume the ontic status of those models understood as transcendent beings. Now, the diaretic (διαίρεσις) dialectic studies general concepts and leads to the definition of individual objects. The analysis of Platonic dialectic on the basis of the writings from the Middle Academy and the Late Academy makes us conclude that dialectic procedures may be realized only in the philosopher's mind, within the area of thinking, in the area of pure concepts, to which the words of discourse, as signs, may only refer. For a discourse is carried on in words which – as the philosopher states in the Kratilos – cannot reflect “the truth of things.” The philosopher-dialectician therefore has no partner. The course and outcomes of a dialectic procedure may be fixed in writing both for didactic, propedeuctic, or protreptic purposes, and such is the purpose of Platonic writings.

This study was carried out to assess Future Workshop (FW) regarding its usefulness as a participatory ergonomics method, using a descriptive evaluation design analysed by phenomenographical approach. The study was conducted among professional cleaners, health care personnel and miners, with a sample of 105 participating subjects in 8 different FWs. Multiple methods, giving a combination of both qualitative and quantitative data, were used for data collection. Good involvement of participants was observed during workshops. Evaluations immediately after FWs and 3 months later showed a strong relationship with high correlation, indicating that the perception of FW participants was very positive. Interviews revealed conformity between developed problem identification and proposed changes. Participants’ own perceptions of FW’s influence on creativity depict their belief of developed ideas and solutions in order to identify and solve workplace problems. FW is considered to be a useful ergonomics tool, and its qualities are related to structure and practical performance.

Opis:
The article discusses outstanding interpretations of the works by F. Nietzsche as represented in Polish educational thought during the “Young Poland” period and the following interwar period. The study aims at elucidating the pedagogical dimensions of Nietsche’s idea in the interpretation of the two periods and at identifying the space within which the concept of the author of Thus spake Zarathustra still remains topical and current. The section devoted to the “Young Poland” period includes an analysis of Jan Kurnatowski’s book Nietsche. Studia i tłumaczenia [Nietzsche. Studies and translations], the one and only work of the period that extracts from the output of the German thinker its strictly pedagogical reflections. The next issue to be presented is a discussion on the journalistic writing that was engaged inNietzschean themes that would be of interest to the present-day pedagogy of culture. Interpretation trends that aimed to discover a universal remedy for the crisis in culture and humanity in the works of the author of Untimely Meditations turned out to be dominant at the time. An approach to the interpretation of Nietzsche’s thought in a wide context of social and cultural interactions made it possible to conclude that the category of Bildungsphilister, castigated by the philosopher, reaches much further beyond just criticism of the contemporary model of education due to the tenability of the notion of Bildumg as the accumulation of cultural capital as it was viewed by Pierre Bourideu. In conclusion of the discussion on the modernist period, the author presents postulations that indicate a need for a shift in the reception emphasis towards directions hitherto unexplored. The section devoted to the interwar period presents the interpretation of the pedagogical thought of Nietzsche presented at the inauguration lecture (on the occasion of Antoni Bolesław Dobrowolski’s acceptance of the chair of pedagogy at Wolna Wszechnica Polska [Free Polish University]) delivered by the professor. The presentation is followed by a discussion on the different approaches presented in various pedagogical encyclopaedias and in Ludwik Chamaj’s Kieruki i prądy  pedagogiki współczesnej [Trends and directions in modern pedagogy]. The latter approaches present Nietzsche as an instigator and a prime mover in contemporary intellectual currents and trends and discuss his influence upon individual philosophers, extracting from his philosophical output the notions of “individualism”, “criticism of the traditional educational system” and “irrationalism”. The journalistic writings under investigation fit well into this particular interpretative trend. The discussion on the interwar period is complemented with a reference to a booklet written by Stanisław Besser and entitled: Bohaterowie myśli. Nietsche i Weininger [Heroes of Thought. Nietzsche and Weininger] and an analysis of the article written by Marian Wachowski Wspomnienia z pism pedagogicznych Nietzschego i Grundtviga [Pedagogical reflections in the writings of Nietzsche and Grundtvig], being the only Polish contribution to the discussion on the series of lectures by Nietzsche Ueber die Zukunft unserer Bildungsanstalten

Author tells the story of his close and very long-lasting acquaintance with Leszek Kołakowski as well as commentates on his intellectual biography and achievements as political and literary essayist, philosopher, historian of ideas, and public figure. In particular he describes in details the first half of Kołakowski’s life, namely the period when he made his long journey from being communist in his student years to becoming as a young scholar the leading figure of Marxist revisionism in the late fifties and after a time a principled critic of Marxism itself and a fervent anti-communist. In many respects Kołakowski’s itinerary was not exceptional but it had at least two noteworthy characteristics. First, in opposition to quite a few other cases his way away from communism turned out to be scholarly fruitful as it resulted in an uniquely in-depth historical research covering the founders, the golden age and the breakdown of so called “scientific socialism” (his voluminous work Main Currents of Marxism remains one of the best and the most comprehensive monographs of the topic). Second, Kołakowski’s abandoning of his former Weltanschauung was followed by his discovery of religion as an extremely important part of human experience and sine qua non condition of the survival of civilization permanently menaced by barbarians. However it is to be doubt whether he may be considered as a convert or a religious thinker in the strict sense of the word since he believed in horrors of the absence of God rather than in the real presence of his in the world. As defender of transcendence and tradition Kołakowski certainly became a kind of catholic-Christian without denomination but as a critical philosopher remained at the same time highly sceptical about everything. Dreaming of solid fundamentals he was all his life an uncompromising enemy of any fundamentalism. Being nostalgic about the Absolute he was incurable antiabsolutist.

In this paper are presented the possibilities to attain the artificial intelligence features of slide micro-bearings taking into account: 1.           Cooperation between super thin boundary lubricant layer and thin superficial layer lying on the micro-bearing shaft and sleeve with various shapes. 2.           Application of a novel method of depositing thin organic and inorganic layer (superficial layer) onto a metal substrate utilizing electro-spraying (electrostatic atomization) method. The new achievements presented in this paper are aimed at application of this technology to functional layer deposition in micro-bearings. Electro-spraying is a low-energy process of liquid atomisation by means of electrical forces. Electro-spraying device consists of a capillary nozzle connected to a high electric potential whereas the substrate is grounded. The liquid flowing out the nozzle is subjected to an electrical stress, and fine droplets are generated from the meniscus or the jet formedat the nozzle outlet. Depending on physical properties of the liquid to be spraye dań d spraying conditions, the size of the droplets can be in the submicron size range. In the electro-spraying process, a solution or a suspension of a material to be deposited is atomised into droplets, which can be targeted onto a substrate to form a condensed product, for example a thin layer after solvent evaporation. The deposition efficiency of charged droplets on a target is much higher than for uncharged ones due to electric forces, which drive the droplets along the electric filed lines towards the substrate.

Opis:
The present article attempts to show the moral and spiritual dimensions of the following of Jesus Christ and to emphasize their specific character and the relation that exists between them. It is based on the document issued by the Pontifical Biblical Commission entitled The Bible and Morality as well as on theological-moral and theological-spiritual literature. In order to justify “the Biblical roots of Christian conduct” to a modern man the analyzed document sets them on the idea of the gift of the Old and New Covenant as well as of other biblical ideas understood in the Christological and personalistic way. To do so it also stresses the importance of spiritual experience (of God, of Christ), owing to which it appreciates spirituality as prior to revealed morality. This spirituality is always assumed when the origin and the obligation to realize the revealed moral norms is meant. To what degree morality is inscribed in man's spiritual development is then explained by a theological-spiritual reflection on the Christian experience that should always take into consideration moral obligations (commandments, blessings). The article takes this into consideration, making short references to some ethical-spiritual models and to stages in the development of the spiritual life.

Zagadnienie relacji pomiędzy energią a architekturą jest często omawiane w odniesieniu do aspektów technicznych i aktualnych wymogów w zakresie zasad projektowania budynków energooszczędnych i przepisów prawnych. To obecnie szeroko podejmowana tematyka w pracach naukowych z zakresu architektury i budownictwa. Problematyka techniczna dotyczy problemów energetycznych w powiązaniu z odpowiednim kształtowaniem formy obiektów, przegród zewnętrznych i wyposażenia technicznego. Te elementy architektoniczno - budowlane służą pozyskiwaniu energii ze źródeł odnawialnych, ochronie przed stratami i nadmiarem energii cieplnej. Imperatyw projektowy związany z energią spowodował istotne zmiany w procesie projektowania i charakterze zawodu architekta.
Problems of relations between energy and architecture are frequently discussed as to technical aspects and requirements related to low-energy buildings and adequate regulations. This issue is largely deliberated in scientific and professional literature about architecture and construction. Energy, however, can also be considered as part of symbolic aspects of architectural ideas and psychological sensation. Subjective impressions in this regard are diversified and so far rarely analyzed. There is some interesting potential in the idea of energy as a creative factor being applied in different ways in architectural design. In the symbolic sphere of the issue one can perceive indications of energy in architectural forms, applied colours and treatment of surfaces. Technical issues related to energy in architecture cover such problems as building forms and envelopes as well as services enhanced with new technologies. All these elements are designed to gain energy from renewable sources, to reduce heat losses and to protect buildings from excess of thermal energy. Energy as contemporary design imperative has stimulated over the last years important modifications in professional methods and procedures of architectural design.

By his life and convictions he tried to prove that a child is a complete human being, not only a person in the making. Struggling for human dignity of a child, he concentrated his efforts on three areas: dignity of children, the rights of children and their place in a society. We can learn his stance on the situation of children, in the context of the European Children’s Rights Movement at the beginning of the 20th century, when he says: „wzywam o magna charta libertatis, o prawa dziecka” – (“I call for Magna Charta Libertatis, for children’s rights”). The voice of Janusz Korczak in his famous pedagogical essay “Jak kochać dziecko” – (“How to Love a Child”) has retained its significance to the present day. Fighting for children’s rights, the “Old Doctor” (his second pseudonym) concentrated on the position of children in the adults’ world and their mutual relationships. That is why the analysis of the main spheres of activity of the adults and children (family, school, society) is so important today, and consequently, finding the answer to the questions: To what extent are the Korczak’s objectives in the abovementioned spheres realized today? How children’s rights are respected?

In “My heart laid bare” Baudelaire writes about the “Universal Religion” devised for “the alchemists of thought,” “a religion that comes from man, considered as a divine memento.” The idea, as we read in the text, was inspired by the writings of Chateaubriand, De Maistre and those of the “Alexandrians”. And indeed, the two former authors wrote explicitly about a „universal tradition” that finds its fulfillment in the Catholic religion. It does not matter if we recognize the “Alexandrians” as representatives of the Neoplatonic school, the Alexandrian Fathers of Church, or disciples of Hermetism, the very term implies a tradition of both syncretic and mystic character that resembles gnosis. Baudelaire’s “Universal Religion,” despite his Catholic convictions, cannot be associated with Catholicism. Based on a universal transmission of myths and symbols, it rather refers to eternal truths about man as well as to the divine source of all beings – also in the modern world, which puts God’s existence in doubt.

Opis:
The article presents the world of attitudes and values of Janusz Stanisław Pasierb (1929-1993), future philosopher, art historian and poet, who during childhood and adolescence emerged within the space of his family home. This young man in this period acquired a peculiar, internal order, with help of his relatives and closest friends he „worked out” a set of ideas that became both a tool used to „control” the desintegration of the war in 1939-1945, and something that defined his identity. Final turning point of this very important stage in the life the author of Czas otwarty was the year 1947, when he joined the Seminary in Pelplin. Stay in the seminar caused problematic aspects of subjectivity, previously mentioned by the young artist, to obtain a remarkable dynamism that abstracts from the elements of „externality”, characteristic for the occupation period, as well as the great depth of meanings.
