We determine the size levels for any function on the hyperspace of an arc as follows. Assume Z is a continuum and consider the following three conditions: 1) Z is a planar AR; 2) cut points of Z have component number two; 3) any true cyclic element of Z contains at most two cut points of Z. Then any size level for an arc satisfies 1)-3) and conversely, if Z satisfies 1)-3), then Z is a diameter level for some arc.

This article is dedicated to my beloved mother, Zofia Kuzak, Honorary Member of the Polish Neuropsychological Society, and my highest moral authority, to honor her 100 th birthday. During the Nazi occu pation, at the age of 23, she was deport ed to Germany and forced into slave labour at a German camp, from which she managed to escape. During this escape she had to sit for three long days high up in a tree, without food and without anything to drink, something made possible by her strong physical condition. After three days, she dared to leave the tree and, in throwing the Nazis pursuing her, she ran away not to the South - to her home in Nowy Sącz, but to the North – to Poznań, where she took refuge in the apartment of other relatives, true Polish patriots. She stayed there for the years 1943–1947, keeping the accounts at the large family grocery store. The experiences from this period influenced the formation of her own self and her identity. Her stories about times of tragedy and her ways of dealing with the darkest moments in her life contributed to the fact that I became interested in the subject of the self and identity. I have prepared two monographs and several articles on this topic. This article presents a new approach to integrated self system, associated not only with the physical organism, but also with the social and cultural world. The foundation of this approach to the self is microgenetic theory, especially its account of consciousness, of the transition from self to image, act and object, the epochal nature of this transition, and its relation to introspection, imagination and agency. The affinities of microgenetic theory to many aspects of the thought process should be evident to readers of this journal, but the theory, which was developed from studies of pathological cases, rests on a wealth of clinical detail. In brief, the micro-temporal transition from archaic to recent formations (distributed systems) in the phyletic history of the forebrain constitutes the absolute mental state, with consciousness the relation of self to image and/or object. The reader will be able also to find here the overlapping of states, the continuity of the core over successive states, and subjective time experience. However, the integrated self system is associated not only with the operation of the biological brain and its complex patterns of neural connections, but also with the activity of the social mind/brain, in terms of bonds created within social groups, as well as the cultural mind/brain creating the world of cultural values, including religious ones. I will sum up with a model of self system changing in time (4D), pulsating according to the states of mind (5D) forming different numbers of “bits” of information, as marked on the x axis, and linked to the duration of memories, marked on the y axis. The self system also depends on gravity (6D), and other hyperspace dimensions hitherto unknown in neuroscience.

Opis:
A polyadic space is a Hausdorff continuous image of some power of the one-point compactification of a discrete space. We prove a Ramsey-like property for polyadic spaces which for Boolean spaces can be stated as follows: every uncountable clopen collection contains an uncountable subcollection which is either linked or disjoint. One corollary is that $(ακ)^ω$ is not a universal preimage for uniform Eberlein compact spaces of weight at most κ, thus answering a question of Y. Benyamini, M. Rudin and M. Wage. Another consequence is that the property of being polyadic is not a regular closed hereditary property.

Furling of higher dimensions
virtual orthogonality
multispatial hyperspace
Opis:
Since a hierarchical notion of dimension is needed to ensure that a virtual, indirect orthogonality of dimensions is maintained in higher-dimensional spatial structures, a generic function for furling and unfurling of the fourth dimension in four-dimensional (4D) spatial structures is proposed. The furling allows three extra dimensions (above the regular three) in a 6D algebraic structure to be represented as a single fourth dimension and thus effectively facilitates morphing of the 4D spacetime into its dual 4D timespace. The effect of the furling of the extra three dimensions resembles that of compactification proposed by Kaluza-Klein theory yet without curling of the furled dimension. The furling supports reexpansion of stringy space into yet another dimension and so enables mapping of radius R (of a closed string being squeezed beyond its minimal radius) into an inverse radius 1/R, which was attributed to string duality, but is shown as due to duality of the 4D spatial structures of spacetime and timespace. Mathematically, it may appear as if further squeezing of the minimal string morphs it into an expanding pointletlike energy bubble so that the stringy spacetime reexpands in a new direction/dimension located within the bubbly dual timespace. So vibrating string is a mirror image of an energy bubblet, both of which do represent the same stringlet. By analogy, particle cast in spacetime could appear mathematically as having a mirror image (or its superpartner) cast in the dual timespace.

Opis:
The hyperspaces $ANR(ℝ^n)$ and $AR(ℝ^n)$ in $2^{ℝ^n} (n ≥ 3)$ consisting respectively of all compact absolute neighborhood retracts and all compact absolute retracts are studied. It is shown that both have the Borel type of absolute $G_{δσ δ}$-spaces and that, indeed, they are not $F_{σ δσ }$-spaces. The main result is that $ANR(ℝ^n)$ is an absorber for the class of all absolute $G_{δσ δ}$-spaces and is therefore homeomorphic to the standard model space $Ω_3$ of this class.

Opis:
A question, which arises frequently in shape optimal design, is the convergence of domains. If the objective function is defined by using the solution of a PDE with boundary conditions, then also the convergence of the boundary is of importance. In this paper a criterion for a set of domains is defined, such that from [Omega_n] --> Omega follows [Gamma_n] --> Gamma if one is restricting to this set of domains. Moreover it is proved that this criterion is sharp, meaning that if [Omega_n] --> Omega implies [Gamma_n] --> Gamma holds for any sequence of this set, then this criterion has to be fulfilled. A similar criterion for the convergence of the Lebesgue measure of the boundaries my(Gamma_n) --> my(Gamma) is given.

For a given mapping f between continua we consider the induced mappings between the corresponding hyperspaces of closed subsets or of subcontinua. It is shown that if either of the two induced mappings is hereditarily weakly confluent (or hereditarily confluent, or hereditarily monotone, or atomic), then f is a homeomorphism, and consequently so are both the induced mappings. Similar results are obtained for mappings between cones over the domain and over the range continua.
