Opis:
In a previous work, Prieur, Trelat (2006), we derived a result of semi-global minimal time robust stabilization for analytic control systems with controls entering linearly, by means of a hybrid state feedback law, under the main assumption of the absence of minimal time singular trajectories. In this paper, we investigate the Martinet case, which is a model case in 1R3, where singular mini-mizers appear, and show that such a stabilization result still holds. Namely, we prove that the solutions of the closed-loop system converge to the origin in quasi minimal time (for a given bound on the controller) with a robustness property with respect to small measurement noise, external disturbances and actuator errors.

Opis:
Automated Writing Evaluation programs have been used extensively to assist both L2 instructors and learners to get corrective feedback and to score students’ final product of writing. Research has found that the AWE programs help in optimizing the writing output. However, little is known about the hybrid mode; use of AWE involving the evaluation of both modes instructors and the AWE program. This paper studies the effects of both modes in developing the students’ writing outputs using a small case study of 6 EFL learners. The learners were exposed to both modes where in each mode they undertook two sessions using the program. In the first phase the learners wrote an essay via MY Access and then saved their input in the program. In the second session, they revised their essays based on the feedback given from the program. In the hybrid mode, the same students in the second session revised their input as per the instructor’s feedback and then continued submitting their essays via MY Access. Results found that under the hybrid condition students significantly outscored the learners with the AWE program. Keywords: automated writing evaluation; corrective feedback; writing; hybrid

Opis:
We consider stabilizing a discrete-time LTI (linear time-invariant) system via state feedback where both the quantized state and control input signals are involved. The system under consideration is stabilizable and stabilizing state feedback has been designed without considering quantization, but the system’s stability is not guaranteed due to the quantization effect. For this reason, we propose a hybrid quantized state feedback strategy asymptotically stabilizing the system, where the values of the quantizer parameters are updated at discrete time instants. We also extend the result to the case of static output feedback.
