Opis:: The present article is divided into two parts: the first focuses on the affections of the soul in general, while the second part investigates the case of melancholy, as it is studied from Aristotle and the Stoics to Galen. The main point of the first part is an analysis of the Chrysippean treatise On the Affections of the Soul as it appears in the Galenic treatise On the Doctrines of Hippocrates and Plato. The analysis identifies several Chrysippean influences from Plato and Aristotle regarding the psyche. In the second part, the case of melancholy is analyzed through the pseudo-Aristotelian treatise Problem XXX 1. The discussion shows the common points between the Aristotelian text and the Chrysippean fragments regarding the issue of melancholy. This article aims to bring to light the evolution of the phenomenon of melancholy in Galen’s thought, which is connected with the study of both medical and philosophical texts already existing before him.

Opis:: This article is the second in a series of works which aims to contribute to documenting the success of the medical theory of individual complexions, derived from the theory of the four humours, through the major work which constitutes the Iconologia of the Italian humanist Cesare Ripa (1555–1622). We analysed here the figure of the phlegmatic and undertook to determine the reasons which governed the choice of the attributes retained by Ripa (portliness, pallor of the skin, coat in badger furs, tilted head and girded with a black headband, turtle) to offer poets, painters and sculptors the archetype of a character dominated by cold and damp phlegm. To this end, we have been interested in the medical and iconographic sources on which the author was able to rely and have tried to identify the attributes which are part of tradition and those which testify to an inuentio of the author in the iconographic art.

Opis:: Rzadko się zdarza w tekstach komediowych, w których podstawę akcji dramatycznej stanowi intryga, by intrygant sam ogłaszał fiasko swego przedsięwzięcia. Minna von Barnhelm Lessinga jest właśnie takim tekstem. Lessing zrywa z tradycją sächsische Typenkomödie, w której intryga pojawiała się w aspekcie dydaktycznym i miała za zadanie wyśmianie (Verlachen) przywar, a inicjuje komedię charakterów (Charakterkomödie), w której nadaje nową funkcję intrydze: ta ma na celu sprawdzenie integralności charakteru osoby poddawanej próbie. Nadanie nowej funkcji intrydze przez Lessinga pozostaje w ścisłym związku ze zmieniającą się w czasach Lessinga wizją człowieka.
