    Artykuł składa się z trzech części. Pierwsza prezentuje oświeceniową historiozofie z ludzkością jako zasadniczym podmiotem dziejów. Druga cześć opisuje idee pluralizmu cywilizacyjnego (Toynbee, Huntington) w której ludzkości nie ma, a są jedynie wielkie historycznie, zantagonizowane cywilizacje. Trzecia część omawia koncepcje zrównoważonego rozwoju, która nawiązuje do idei oświeceniowej i z całej ludzkości czyni przedmiot historiozoficznej refleksji.
    The article consists of three parts. The first presents the Enlightment's philosophy of history, presenting humanity as the principal subject of history. The next describes the concept of civilization pluralism (Toynbee, Huntington) in which humanity does not appear - only great and antagonistic civilizations. The final part presents the idea of sustainable development, which refers to the Enlightment's idea and considers humanity.

    Напротяжении своей истории человечество разработалo ряд стратегий с помощью которых удерживался баланс между ростoм популяции и наличием доступных ресурсов, необходимых для удовлетворения его основных жизненных потребностей. Эти стратегии всегда определялись экологическими возможностями конкретного региона, в то же время оказывали воздействие на его среду. Однако степень воздействия на окружающую среду, наблюдаемая в последние десятилетия, позволяет утверждать, что человечество стало “ведущей силой”, влияющей нa геологическое и климатическоe состяние окружающей среды планеты. Будущее человечества завист от того, успеет и сможет ли оно изменить свои стратегии до момента, пока ресурсы планеты еще позволяют существование глобальной цивилизации.
    In its history, humankind worked out several life strategies with which they were balancing their growth in number and the availability of sources to satisfy their basic needs. These life strategies were always determined by the environmental opportunities of specific region, but, at the same time they impacted this environment. However, the degree of environment influence attained in last decades such a level that humankind became a geologic-climate force. Now the future of humankind depends on whether the humankind will be able to change its life strategies applied until now, before the environment of the globe stops to make possible the existence of global civilization.

    On the occasion third year after declaration on sustainability and interdependence, interaction and co-operation (as a basic methodology for a better tomorrow of humanity, which already opened a horizon for the sustainable future of humankind), we think to ask for understanding of the present and to put together the reasons for a survival of the individuals, local communities, and global community of humankind. After publishing six books on sustainability, announcing the declaration The World Thinkers Panel on the Sustainable Future of Humankind – WTP-SFH, bilingual book on sustainability and survival of humanity, multilingual digital book Anthology 2 – 2001-2014 May 2014 as a platform for implementation of the methodology for sustainability of the global community of humankind, reaching thirteenth session of the Provisional World Parliament, and observing the present, we are looking forward for a better tomorrow.
    Trzy lata po deklaracji w sprawie zrównoważonego rozwoju i współzależności, interakcji i współpracy (jako podstawowej metodologii dla kształtowania lepszego jutra ludzkości, która już otworzyła horyzonty dla zrównoważonej przyszłości ludzkości), czas bliżej przyjrzeć się teraźniejszości i zestawić uwarunkowania związane z przetrwaniem ludzkości w wymiarach: indywidualnym, lokalnych społeczności, a także globalnym. Mając wsparcie w postaci sześciu wydanych książek na temat zrównoważonego rozwoju, ogłoszonej deklaracji Panelu Myślicieli Świata o zrównoważonej przyszłości ludzkości i cyfrowej monografii Antologia 2 – 2001- 2014, będącej platformą umożliwiającą implementację zrównoważoności na poziomie globalnej ludzkiej wspólnoty, bogaci także w doświadczenia wynikające z 13 sesji Tymczasowego Parlamentu Światowego, obserwując uważnie teraźniejszość, spoglądamy z nadzieją w przyszłość, wierząc, że lepsze jutro jest możliwe.

    Opis:
    The phenomenon of slavery existed throughout the entire period of the ancient world and met with interest from both Greek and Roman philosophers. Despite the emerging views of various philosophers criticizing slavery as a social phenomenon, no theory of slavery was formulated then. The philosopher who-, in both his works and correspondence, included numerous references to the situation of slaves and the institution of slavery was M.T. Cicero. Searching for humanism in Cicero’s views on the above-mentioned issue, attention was drawn to the principles of the Stoic doctrine, within which the concept of human freedom was formulated, and to the essence of natural law. These concepts made it possible to analyse the discussed problem in the context of the words of Terence Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto. And as regards humanism in Cicero’s views, it is evident when he recognizes a human being in a slave; when he says that the principles of justice must be observed towards people from the lowest rank, which is the rank of slaves; when he firmly states that slavery is among the worst things that can happen to the human being. On the other hand, we see Cicero’s completely different views on slaves when he talks about punishing slaves, „keeping a tight rein on them,” or „destiny by nature for the best to rule others, and with great benefit for weaker beings”; also when he emphasizes his negative attitude towards the liberation of slaves. To conclude it should be emphasised that this characteristic feature of Cicero, namely his lack of uniformity of views on various philosophical doctrines, which we can also find in his views on slavery and the rank of slaves, does not prevent us from seeing a humanist in Cicero who, with his sense of justice, advocating the stoic doctrine and the principles of natural law, moved very slowly towards the stoic moral philosophy and all the ethical principles that Christianity would bring.
