Opis:
Work is one of the paradoxes of human life. It is difficult to define its essence, the correct source, tasks, and roles in human life. Therefore, work in the scientific literature is understood ambiguous and multi-dimensional. The un-derstanding of this seems to express a special kind of process – activity, which is the cause of making a state of things – activity and effort to something, or change, or only maintain, produce, or reproduce, or inhibit the natural proc-esses of degradation. Therefore, the different configurations and different as-pects of work are understood subject of many scientific disciplines and types of knowledge. The development of civilization and culture is made possible by the fact that a man gathers goods that satisfy their needs.

Opis:
The paper aims to quantify changes in the quality of Poland’s working population in 1993-2006. An important drawback of standard measures of labor input, such as the number of people employed or total hours worked, is that they treat the labor force as a homogenous entity. The starting point for calculating effective labor input in this paper is to loosen this assumption by disaggregating employment into groups within which the homogeneity assumption would be more valid. The subsequent aggregation explicitly takes into account the diversity of the marginal product of labor between the groups, using the average wage as a proxy. The empirical analysis is based on microeconomic data from a labor force survey. Education, age and sex were considered as important criteria in accounting for the heterogeneity of labor productivity. The analysis shows that labor input quality in Poland grew in 1993-2006 at an annual average rate of 0.9 percent, adding 0.6 percentage points to the average annual GDP growth rate. The main factor behind the improved quality of labor was an improvement in the educational structure of the working population.

Opis:
The paper aims to identify potential threats and opportunities in reference with combining full-time studies with gainful employment from the perspective of future transition of the graduates to the labor market. A hypothesis whether the job of the full-time students provides professional experience, required by employers, was verified. Moreover, it discusses if their professional activity may constitute a solid tie between education and the work after graduation, when continued at the same workplace. The conclusions were drawn, based on the results of the survey conducted over a population of students in the master’s degree course in economics at the University of Economics in Katowice in years 20142016. According to the survey, students rarely undertake job in compliance with their area of study, however, the majority gains valuable skills and competences. Additionally, it proves there exist certain obstacles while combining studies with job which poses a real threat to educational capital. The research also unveiled that less than one third of the students consider present job as a running start to future employment, mainly due to their lack of interest in such a solution.

In this study, I investigated how different forms of human capital and social capital of new Chinese immigrants affect their job-search and job transitions in the Flushing area. I conducted sixteen indepth interviews with new Chinese immigrants who were seeking job opportunities within Flushing, documenting not only their personal background but also their immigration and working experiences in both China and the United States. Results indicate that the aggregation of certain human capital has positive influence on immigrants’ income, rather on immigrants’ job-findings and job transitions. The efficiency of social ties, instead of strength of social ties, is a more significant unit of analysis in the co-ethnic labor market. Though immigrants’ efficient social ties may be helpful for finding their first jobs in the U.S., the efficiency of social ties with regards to job-searching may dramatically decrease as immigrants stay longer in the U.S. As a result, social ties may not have a salient influence on immigrants’ job transitions.

Opis:
Today’s multigenerational workforce poses unique challenges for enterprises in the area of human resources management. The diversity resulting from the presence of representatives of different generations on the labor market, however, allows for exchanging experience and exploring different ways of solving complex problems, as a result of which it becomes important from the point of view of the proper functioning of the entire enterprise. The main purpose of this article is to present the characteristics of Generation Y, as well as solutions (good practices) implemented in the area of management of its representatives employed within the company. Particular attention was paid to the aspects related to the management of Generation Y employees in terms of their expectations, preferences and motivations. The analysis was based on the available literature and the interpretation of the report “First steps into the labor market. Future Leaders," prepared by the world’s largest consulting firm Deloitte in 2015. It appears that young people undertaking employment in the organization far more than material incentives appreciate the convenient work environment, the ability of establishing individual career paths and working remotely, or the possibility of creating innovative projects. Therefore, a major challenge for modern managers is to adapt the workplace expectations of Generation Y to the corporate objectives.

This report analyzes technology transfers and education for local engineers within overseas subsidiaries of Japanese and European companies that have advanced into China, and examines differences among them. The local engineers nurtured in overseas subsidiaries of Japanese companies have mid-level skills similar to those of Japanese engineers at a holding company. When Japanese holding companies succeed in fostering local engineers, of course, there is a beneficial effect both for the overseas subsidiary and for the technical enlightenment of local engineers. However, these benefits may also help rivals. In comparison, overseas subsidiaries of European companies foster low-level engineers, and the division of labor with engineers at a holding company is a complementary relation, without duplication.

This article examines the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the labor market, elucidating its transformative effects on the employer-employee dynamics. Through a comprehensive exploration of recruitment processes, employer branding, and the broader employer-employee relationship, the study addresses the challenges organizations encounter in maintaining their coveted status as an “employer of choice” during these unprecedented times. Using survey research and literature review methodologies, the investigation, centered on 36 HR representatives from medium and large companies in Poland, reveals the substantial influence of the pandemic on employer branding activities, mainly through a pronounced shift toward social media campaigns. The research also identifies heightened difficulties in maintaining the employer's image during the pandemic, significantly impacting direct communication with employees. Strategies adopted by companies, such as changes in benefits, support for remote work, and prioritizing employee wellbeing, are scrutinized. The article introduces the HCDS model – Honesty, Care, Development, and Stabilization – as a framework for managing employer-employee relationships during crises. In conclusion, the study underscores the centrality of employees in organizational success, advocating for a strategic alignment of compensation with employee expectations, integrating internal branding activities with external efforts.

Opis:
Educational diagnostics may be defined as the theory and practice of recognizing context, progress, and outcomes of learning. It is a relatively new branch of knowledge still searching for a cardinal scientific paradigm: informal or standardized, dealing with class disruptions or monitoring student development. Labor market as the place for selling and buying jobs and vocational positions constitutes a far-reaching target for education. Graduates from schools and colleges bring there their human capital, containing competences, knowledge, experiences, skills and similar assets. Taxonomies of educational goals – emotional, world-view, cognitive, and psychomotor – put the elements of human capital in the following order: (1) motivational domain, (2) moral domain, (3) experiential domain (4) physical domain. With this approach human capital becomes a learning task for students and their ability to learn gained in education becomes the most important manpower characteristics.

This study outlines the rules that have created full gender equality, starting from the first generation of human rights to equal treatment and then positive discrimination, also briefly referring to the theoretical foundations. The study also points out areas where, besides ius cogens, the disadvantages of women in everyday practice have remained particularly significant. Thus, the second part of the study addresses the main issues of criminal law and workplace discrimination, supported by examples. It is deemed necessary due to issues of labour law and criminal justice practice illustrating most clearly why ensuring equality before the law does not suffice. At the same time, the need for much more gender-sensitive legislation and legal redress is being formulated, especially in the areas mentioned above.
