At the turn of the 20th century a rapid development of the tourism colonization space in the Medina of Marrakesh began, which consisted mostly of the conversion of historical dwelling houses into private residential hotels or guest houses. The aim of the article is to present a thorough study of the progressive changes in the distribution of quantitative features of the guest houses in various parts of this old town. The cartographical method was utilised, using maps presenting the localization of the guest houses and the average accommodation capacity indicator for buildings in various quarters of the Medina. The distribution of particular features is compared for selected years (1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008). Furthermore, the article engages in polemics with the remarks of other authors dealing with the subject, concerning the distribution of the guest houses and conditions of changes in the aforementioned process.

Wojsławice manor is generally considered to be one of the most interesting historical sites of this kind in the region of Szadek. In addition to the fortified 16th century mansion called “small castle”, about which J. Agustyniak wrote in the tenth volume of Biuletyn Szadkowski, at least two interesting residential buildings can be found there. One of them is a manor house dating from the first half of the 19th century, medium- sized With some features of Classicism. The main object on this estate is a brick, one-storey palace built around 1900. All residential buildings and the old park are associated with Sierniątkowscy family, who lived in Wojsławice for seven generations.

The presence of uranium makes the Kowary area characterized by an increased concentration of radon in the air and the living houses. Measurements of periodic radon concentrations in dwellings of Kowary were carried out three times in the last 20 years. It can be observed that 20 years ago level of radon concentrations in houses of Kowary were lower than today. Measurements carried out in Kowary over 20 years have shown that residents are exposed to radon concentrations, which often exceed 300 Bq•m-3 – a reference level recommended by the European Union. The present geometric mean of radon concentration in houses of Kowary (260 Bq•m-3 ) exceeds the geometric mean of radon concentration of buildings in the rest of Poland (142 Bq•m-3 ).

The article deals with the study of surface roughness of thin-walled houses bearing rollers for roller mills. The size and shape of the rear end housing was designed in order to measure the surface roughness of the inner cylindrical bearing surface with a wall thickness of 4, 5 and 6 mm. For comparison the roughness was measured also on the wall with a thickness 26 mm. The welded housing and the base plate was clamped in the machine vice jaw with a width of 150 mm. Material components bearing small house has been fine-grain weld able steel bearing S355. For finishing the hole with a diameter of 40 mm, a tool with a diameter of 32 mm was used with three cutting blades SDXT09M405R MM. Spindle speed was 1350 rev / min. Tool feed speed was 850 mm / min. The surface roughness was measured with a Mitutoyo SJ 400th.

Usually, the concept of sufficient stability of a floating structure is connected with the capacity to keep a small heel angle despite the moment of heeling. The variable responsible for these characteristics is the initial metacentric height, which is the relation between the hydrostatic features of the pontoon and the mass properties of the entire object. This article answers the questions of how heavy the floating system should be, what the minimum acceptable draft is, and whether it is beneficial to use internal fixed ballast. To cover various technologies, a theoretical model of a cuboid float with average density representing different construction materials was analysed. The results indicate that the common practice of using heavy and deep floating systems is not always reasonable. In the case of floating buildings, which, unlike ships, can be exploited only under small heel angles, the shape and width of the submerged part of the object may influence the stability more than the weight or draft.

The article is devoted to the presentation of pottery and sunken features of Neolithic cultures discovered at site 2 in Zagórze. The rich materials were acquired as a result of large-scale rescue excavations on the A4 motorway on the Wieliczka-Bochnia loess. 67,948 fragments of pottery were excavated, deposited in the fills of 1237 Neolithic features or in the so-called cultural layer. This material has been classified within the Linear Pottery culture (mainly its older Zofipole phase), the Malice culture (classical phase) and the Lengyel culture (Pleszów and Modlnica phase). On the said site, 11 long houses of the Linear Pottery culture and 4 houses of the Malice culture were discovered, while large clay pits, containing numerous ceramic materials, were connected with the Lengyel culture. Different ways of organising the settlement space by the inhabitants of these cultures were established.

The 2017 season saw the conclusion of the first phase of the Preservation Project at the Kom el-Dikka site. The new visitors' route was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Antiquities of Egypt, Dr Khaled al- Anany. Archaeological excavations continued to be focused on a huge mound of ashes and urban refuse, located to the south of the Imperial Bath complex in the central part of the Kom el-Dikka site. The mound accumulated over the ages from the 4th to the 7th century AD, covering the ruins of early Roman dwelling houses. The report gives an overview of digging in this area, where a substantial part of a house was cleared. It includes also a summary of conservation work performed on mosaics and monuments of ancient architecture.

Marina el-Alamein, a small town situated around 100 km west of Alexandria, is a good example of a middle-sized settlement flourishing during the first three centuries AD. The present paper analyses the urban layout and plan of the settlement. The main hypothesis proposed here is based on the results of excavations conducted on the site since 1986. Thanks to the observations from the field, in addition to analyses of the already excavated structures, it was possible to reconstruct the street system and divide the urban space into three zones: the coastal zone (port area), the residential quarters, and the necropolis. All of them were situated on three natural terraces. The northern part, located along the seashore, was occupied by the port and warehouses. On the second terrace, wealthy residential quarters with a relatively large bathhouse complex were spread along the coast. Finally, a large necropolis with several types of monumental tombs created a border between the town and the desert.

W artykule przedstawiono kolejne kroki postępowania w przedsięwzięciu polegającym na budowie domu z wykorzystaniem elementów rozbiórkowych z domów z bali drewnianych. Ustalono 31 elementów procesu inwestycyjnego, opisano wymagania prawne oraz szczegóły związane z realizacją. Przeprowadzono również analizę statystyczną mającą na celu ustalenie cen nabycia starego domu z bali. Analizę przeprowadzono na podstawie danych zebranych z aukcji internetowych. Uwzględniano następujące dane: cenę starego domu, cenę 1 m2 domu, województwo, w którym dom jest posadowiony, materiał z którego wykonano połać dachową.
The article shows the next steps to be taken in the project consisting in building a new home using elements of demolition of houses built of wooden beams. It was established 31 elements of the investment process, described legal requirements and details of implementation. Statistical analysis was performed with a view to determine the purchase price of the old log house. The analysis was based on data collected from an online auction. Taken into account the following data: the price of the old house, the price of 1 m2 of the house, state in which the house is built, the material from which made the roof surface.

The problem of revitalisation of mansions, castles and palaces has been undertaken for years both in theory and in conservation practice. This paper presents the complicated history of a large manor house in the former Vilnius Province, its significant reconstruction and function changes. A few years ago, the manor was restored and the new interior furnishings are a spectacular example of a conservation creation.

The article is a summary of the state of the art concerning the so-called cult houses discovered in megaliths of the Funnel Beaker culture (hereinafter referred to as TRB from German Trichterbecherkultur) in its Eastern and South-Eastern groups. The author suggests to divide the discussed objects into types “A” and “B”, which may better reflect their characteristics. He also emphasises that the reinterpretation of some of the known features as the structures of this type would significantly increase their number. If the chosen course of interpretation appears accurate, it may indicate that the presence of wooden structures in the TRB graves in the Polish lands was not at all special. However, it should be borne in mind that these objects might have served not only for religious purposes.

Tym ciekawszy, że realizowany przez grupę pracowników naukowych Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Warszawskiej jako praktyczny element badań nad niską intensywną zabudową mieszkaniową. Widać w nim wady i zalety tego typu zabudowy oraz możliwości dokonywania przekształceń.
Courtyard housing estate in Warsaw's Sadyba suburb is one of very few examples of this type of development in Poland. Even more interesting hence realized by a group of scientific employees of Faculty of Architecture of Warsaw University of Technology as a practical part of research on high density housing. One can see benefits and drawbacks of this type of settlement and possibilities of adaptation.

Inefficient remuneration policies in the financial sector have been recognized as one of the main causes of the recent financial crisis. This is because it encouraged executives to take excessive risks, and focus on short-term results, which could bring high annual bonuses. The crisis was followed by a series of reforms of the regulation of executive remuneration policy at international and national levels. In Poland, the deepest changes in the executive remuneration policy took place in the banking sector. They resulted from the transfer by the Polish Financial Authority of regulations from the Directive of the European Parliament of 2010, to the Polish Resolutions of 4 October 2011, as well as from the implementation of the regulations from the Directive of the European Parliament of 2013 to the Polish Act of August of 2015. However, little is known about changes in regulations in other companies operating in the financial sector. The aim of this article is to present new regulations regarding remuneration policy of executives in brokerage houses. The study examines the extent to which brokerage houses operating in Poland have implemented new rules. The analysis shows that the variable components remuneration policy in brokerage houses is not widespread (it is not applied by about 40% of financial institutions or they do not provide any information). This may be due to the fact that the Ordinance of the Minister of Finance is the first of this type of regulations addressed to brokerages. Because of that, they may initially approach the concept of remuneration involving variable components with a certain distrust. However, we can assume that from year to year more and more brokerages will decide to use this policy.
