Opis:: Feminism is a movement that tends to change the unfavourable cultural, social, and political relations on behalf of women. The feministic movement has developed in our cultural circle since the 18th century and has taken on various forms. One should mention here the following: feminism as a right strife conducted by women to recognise their dignity, make them equal with respect to citizen rights, ensure equal (with men) access to education that would enable them to obtain a job and enlarge their opportunities in economical, social, political, and religious life – always taking into account their different sex and preserving their vocation as wives and mothers. This is true feminism, which is now defined as a new or Christian feminism, feminism – as an ideology stemming from radical liberalism, socialism, freudism, and post-modernism − strikes woman's identity and in the most radical manifestations it regards sex as a cultural category, and advocates absolute freedom. Thus understood feminism leads to deformation in social life by undermining familial ties and the right to live for the unborn children (abortion). This is false feminism, such that undermines women’s identity and dignity.

Opis:: This paper examines some of the key cultural concepts and relevant historical factors that may shape the development of Anglo-Cypriot gay identity. Accounts of sexual identity experiences provided by second generation Greek and Turkish Cypriot gay men in London are examined in the light of this analysis to explore how these men negotiate Anglo-Cypriot and gay identity. Twenty-eight self-identified second generation Greek and Turkish gay men living in London were recruited by advertising in the gay press, by writing to community groups, and gay groups and organizations and by “snowballing.” In-depth face-to-face interviews were conducted with those men recruited through these channels. Data were subjected to interpretative phenomenological analysis. The personal accounts of these men demonstrate that their sexual identity does not always become their primary identity and that different identities are constructed by individuals at different places and times. Most men indicated that the translation of their sexual desires and behaviors into the “political statement” of gay identity is not only difficult but is strongly resisted. Instead they chose to construct their identity in terms of their relationships with their families, their peers at work and other members of their community. The findings of this research may help develop an understanding of the complexities surrounding the “sexual and cultural” identities of Anglo-Cypriot gay men, thereby reinforcing the notion that identity is multiple, contested and contextual.

Opis:: The first part of the article describes the events in 2004 connected with the organization of the festival 'Culture for Tolerance' and negative reaction of many people towards it. The material used consisted of and interviews with organizers, participant observation, video recording press relations. The second part describes positions of experiences of the main actors of events: Campaign Against Homophobia; Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University; Piotr Skarga Association of Christian Culture; All-Poland Youth; football fans of two Cracovian clubs; Roman-Catholic Church; the state; mass media. The final part contains in the analysis of the events within several different theoretical contexts: the concepts of homosexuality, gender, nationalism and globalization. Concluding remarks elaborate on the character of Polish civil society which is still a holistic ethical monolith rather than a liberal arena for discussion. The gay and lesbian movement is the most spectacular force that tries to change the situation.
Pierwszą część artykułu stanowi opis wydarzeń z 2004 roku, związanych z organizowaniem Festiwalu „Kultura dla Tolerancji” i negatywnych nań reakcji wielu środowisk. Opis sporządzono na podstawie wywiadów z zainteresowanymi, obserwacji uczestniczącej, zapisu filmowego i relacji prasowych. Następnie prezentowani są główni zbiorowi aktorzy wydarzeń: Kampania Przeciw Homofobii, Instytut Socjologii UJ, Stowarzyszenie Kultury Chrześcijańskiej im. P. Skargi, Młodzież Wszechpolska, kibice krakowskich klubów piłkarskich, Kościół rzymskokatolicki, państwo, mass media. Przedstawione są ich racje oraz doświadczenia ich przedstawicieli związane z wydarzeniami. Kolejna część tekstu zawiera analizę wydarzeń w kilku teoretycznych kontekstach: koncepcji homoseksualizmu, płci kulturowej, nacjonalizmu i globalizacji. Uwagi końcowe zawierają wnioski na temat charakteru społeczeństwa obywatelskiego w Polsce, które jest ciągle holistycznym monolitem etycznym, a nie liberalnym forum do dyskusji. Ruch gejów i lesbijek jest najbardziej spektakularną siłą, która stara się zmienić ten stan rzeczy.

Opis:: The purpose of this article is to give the evidence that the anthropology of imago Dei could be considered as the groundwork for the common anthropology valid for the whole Christianity and it also depicts the vision of man as the answer to the demands of every human being of the postmodernism epoch. The starting point of our reflection is the fact of the return of the interest in anthropology in the 20th century among the theologians of the three great Christian denominations: Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic. When in the 20th century the ecumenical movement appeared, theological anthropology, which both joins and divides Churches, became very crucial and still it is getting more and more important. After many years of ecumenical dialogues we can affirm that, despite the differences, all Christians understand man as a imago Dei – the image of God. He was not only created as such, but has always been, despite the original sin. Man is the image of God One in the Holy Trinity who lives in mutual relations, that is why human being is also highly relational. He lives in the relation with God, with another human being, and with the created world over which he was appointed as the master and manager. All Christian Churches which took part in the ecumenical dialogue agree that the source of this anthropology is the Bible; they will also agree about the original sin and his consequences for the human nature considered in the light of Jesus Christ; finally, they will agree on imago Dei as the foundation of the personal dignity of man. There are still differences, the questions that require more theological work, for example distinction between image and likeness; the concept of theosis – deification present in the orthodox theology and considered as problematic by the protestant theology; the Churches teaching about the ordination of women and homosexuality. At the end of the article we have some examples of the perspectives that give the anthropology of the image of God. This concept of human can help to overcome the contemporary crisis of anthropology, the result of the postmodernism. This anthropology also claims that all Christian Churches are able to give the common answer to the ethics questions such as abortion, euthanasia or genetic manipulations. The author also suggests that all Christian Churches, as the starting point and foundation, should take not only the Bible, but the anthropology of the Fathers of Church as well.

Opis:: The article offers an interpretation of André Gide "L immoraliste" novel by combining the views of the gender and gay and lesbian studies with Edward Said theory of Orientalism. The analysis opens with the summary of the cultural context of late 1800s, hostile to men and women engaging in emotional and sexual relations with people of the same sex. It then goes on to argue that a reference to the ancient paederasty presented a positive alternative to the prevailing attitude of that time towards same sex relations, regarding them as medical pathology. The interpretation of Gide novel demonstrates that the paederastic model based on polarized gender roles is transferred into the new cultural context through the Orientalist ideology. Michael (the main character) (neo)paederastic relations with Arab boys are founded on the dichotomous and hierarchical opposition between the people of the Orient and those of the West. Yet the very Orientalist ideology transforms the (neo)paederastic model into its exact opposite: an Arab boy, enclosed in his otherness, passes his own difference on to his European partner, the (neo)paederast thus beginning to resemble the homosexual who was in turn also enclosed in his alleged radical "otherness" by psychiatrists of the 19th century.

Opis:: The author describes a mode of sensibility called ‘Camp’. She concentrates on the most characteristic features of it, especially on the ambivalence of any assessments, specific playful type of seriousness, theatricalization, artificiality, superior role of inverted commas and emphasis. While analyzing connections between Camp and homosexual subculture, the author stresses the role of the artists’ deepened self-consciousness and their deceitful distance towards their own works of art. Those features are especially noticeable in their playing with the conventions and with the principles of good taste. While describing the presence of Camp in the Polish literature, the author emphasises the roles of relativity, both aesthetical and moral. The elements of Camp are distinguished in the ‘banalistic’ literature and in the prose of Grzegorz Musiał, but the main part of the text is devoted to the prose of Michał Witkowski, in which we can find an intriguing combination of the sublimity and mockery, gloss and trumpery, spirituality and hedonism. Those features, inseparably connected with the stylistic of Camp, are constantly present in the prose of Witkowski. It makes him the most important representative of the discussed mode of sensibility in Poland.

We do not claim that our society has reached the necessary level of debate both groups, heterosexual majority and gay and lesbian minority. However, took a path whose goal has signs of democratic society. All new phenomena must strike a long way till they are completely understated, accepted by society and at last integrated to the common life of society. Homosexuality is such a phenomenon. This path is a test of endurance gays and lesbians and heterosexuals test of democratic thinking. The contribution we tried to transmit a little further from the general question of homosexuality, specifically one of the areas described below, which is an area of „presence” of the child in the gay and lesbian partnerships.

Opis:: The article attempts to describe homoerotic and non-heteronormative motifs mainly in Witkacy’s novels and, in a limited way, also in his plays (The Beelzebub Sonata and Maciej Korbowa and Bellatrix). The author refers to categories of bi-curiousness, semi-vir, abjection and phantasmal scenario, tracking the relation between decadence as ideology and decadence as homosexuality, and stating a thesis that Witkacy was a queer writer. The homoerotic scenes analyzed by the author, bearing similarities in structure and language, are described as representing two separate “phantasmal scenarios” in Witkacy’s literary imagination.

Opis:: Issues concerning homosexuality is well known both in the documents of the Catholic Church, as well as in the case law of the Roman Rota and the judgments of the ecclesiastical tribunals. Currently, homosexuality is a serious social problem, psychological and legal. The issue of homosexuality more often appears in ecclesiastical tribunals, as a cause of inability of people to take the essential obligations of marriage. Homosexuality causes inability to distinguish carefully the particular subject of matrimonial consent and conduct a critical assessment of the person affected by these disorders, which is unable to transfer the rights and assume the obligations of marriage.

Opis:: Gender jest jedną z tych niebezpiecznych i szeroko dziś lansowanych ideologii, która walczy z tradycyjną rodziną i macierzyństwem. Macierzyństwo i wychowywanie dzieci są według niej formą ucisku kobiety. Dlatego antykoncepcja, aborcja na żądanie, rozpasanie seksualne są warunkami niezbędnymi do „wyzwolenia” kobiet. Ideologia ta zakłada, że człowiek nie rodzi się ani kobietą, ani mężczyzną w sensie kulturowym. To dana kultura konstruuje określenia „kobieta” i „mężczyzna” i w ten sposób determinuje człowieka. Wiele cech „kobiecych” i „męskich” pochodzących z różnic biologicznych teoria gender uważa za mity społeczne. Polaryzacja społeczności na kobiety i mężczyzn prowadzi według niej do szowinizmu i mizoginii. Gender, która przejęła idee i założenia ruchu feministycznego, oddzieliła seksualność od prokreacji, a to w konsekwencji doprowadziło do oddzielenia prokreacji od małżeństwa. Jeżeli zostają odseparowane te dwie sfery, to staje otworem prosta droga do uznania „praw” osób homoseksualnych do małżeństwa i posiadania dzieci (np. przez adopcję lub sztuczne zapłodnienie) oraz do tworzenia tzw. „wolnych związków” bez żadnych zobowiązań i odpowiedzialności. To wszystko stanowi realne zagrożenie dla tradycyjnie pojmowanego małżeństwa i rodziny.
‘Gender’ is one of those dangerous and widespread ideologies today which fights against traditional family and maternity. According to this ideology, maternity and bringing up children are nothing else but a form of oppressing women. That is why contraception, abortion on demand and sexual debauchery are necessary conditions leading to women liberation. This ideology assumes that a human being is not born a man or a woman in a cultural sense. It is a given culture that creates labels ‘man’ and ‘woman’, thus determining human beings. The theory of gender views as social myths many feminine and masculine qualities stemming from biological differences. According to gender, polarization of the society between men and women leads up to chauvinism and misogyny. Gender, which has adopted ideas and assumptions of the feminist movement, has separated sexuality from procreation and this as a consequence has led to separating procreation and marriage. If those two spheres are separated, a straight way will be open to acknowledging the ‘rights’ of homosexuals to be married and have children (either through adoption or artificial insemination) and to establishing the so called ‘free relationships’ with no commitments or responsibilities. All these constitute a real threat to marriage and family in a traditional sense of the word

Opis:: The article presents diff erences between the electorate and political parties programs in a political right point of view according to the principle of same-sex couples to certificate their relations. Parties of the left such as the Democratic Left Alliance (Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej) and Palikot`s Movement (Ruch Palikota) tried to support the idea of the same-sex couple partnerships however they didn’t try to make them equal with the ordinary marriages. The voters of those parties where more often ready to accept the same-sex couple partnerships, nevertheless the right side pulls in the opposite electorate. Most of the Civic Platform (Platforma Obywatelska RP) voters didn’t support the same-sex couples partnership idea, that kind of attitude dominate the Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość) electorate too. Nowadays the aversion to the same-sex couples rights can be clearly seen among the whole society. During the 2011 campaign also clearly become the increase of support for the same-sex couples partnership over the previous year especially in political left wing of electorate. Social ratio to the main aspects of the article divines polish political parties as much as the most of the voters, creating a big line between the left and the right side of polish politics.

Opis:: The paper deals with homosexuality and the ways it is viewed in society. It focuses on some aspects that accompany homosexual people’s social functioning, such as stereotypes, discrimination, and homophobia. In Poland, as well as in other countries, there exists the problem of discrimination against homosexuals, which results in serious difficulties gay people have to overcome in their everyday life. Since it is mainly from the lack of knowledge that discrimination or homophobia often stem, education might be the key solution. The educational idea this paper puts forward is based on anti-discrimination efforts that promote education through films. The cinematic works chosen for this purpose, Milk, Brokeback Mountain and A Single Man, can help to understand the social aspects of discrimination and homophobia, as well as the psychological consequences suffered by those discriminated against. Still, a screening of films is not sufficient for the accomplishment of this goal; it should be complemented with an after-film discussion that would increase a person’s awareness of differences and various points of view, encouraging them to refresh their own beliefs. Such actions may create an opportunity for the participants and thus result in the change of their attitude.

Opis:: The article discusses ways of presenting male homosexuality in Polish prose after 1989. Against the historical and anthropological background, as well as on the basis of literary texts, the author gathers arguments for the thesis about the “epistemological turn” (in perception, presentation and conceptualization of gayness) in the Polish culture of the first decade of the twenty-first century. This breakthrough exerted an influence not only on the way of constructing gay characters, but on the whole represented world in Polish prose after 1989.
