Opis:
We derive two-weight weak type estimates for operators of potential type in homogeneous spaces. The conditions imposed on the weights are testing conditions of the kind first studied by E. T. Sawyer [4]. We also give some applications to strong type estimates as well as to operators on half-spaces.

Opis:
In the paper, we investigate a single-server queueing system with unlimited memory space and non-homogeneous customers (calls) of the two following types: 1) external customers that are served by the system under consideration, 2) internal customers that arrive and interrupt the service process only when an external customer is being served. The external customers appear according to a stationary Poisson process. Customers of each of the above-mentioned types are characterized by some random volume. The customer service time depends arbitrarily on its volume. Two schemes of customer service organization are analyzed. The non-stationary and stationary distributions of the total volume of customers present in the system are determined in terms of Laplace and Laplace-Stieltjes transforms. The stationary first and second moments of total customers volume are also calculated. The obtained results are used to approximate loss characteristics in analogous systems with limited buffer space. Numerical examples illustrating theoretical results are attached as well.

Let E and F be spaces of real- or complex-valued functions defined on a set X. A real- or complex-valued function g defined on X is called a pointwise multiplier from E to F if the pointwise product fg belongs to F for each f ∈ E. We denote by PWM(E,F) the set of all pointwise multipliers from E to F. Let X be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman-Weiss. For 1 ≤ p < ∞ and for $ϕ: X×ℝ_{+} → ℝ_{+}$, we denote by $\text{bmo}_{ϕ,p}(X)$ the set of all functions $f ∈ L^{p}_{loc}(X)$ such that $\underset{a ∈ X, r>0}{\text{sup}} 1/{ϕ(a,r)} (1/μ(B(a,r)) \int_{B(a,r)} |f(x) -f_{B(a,r)}|^p dμ)^{1//p} < ∞$, where B(a,r) is the ball centered at a and of radius r, and $f_{B(a,r)}$ is the integral mean of f on B(a,r). Let $\text{bmo}_{ϕ}(X) =\text{bmo}_{ϕ,1}(X)$ and $\text{bmo}(X) = \text{bmo}_{1,1}(X)$. In this paper, we characterize $\text{PWM}(\text{bmo}_{ϕ1,p_1}(X), \text{bmo}_{ϕ2,p_2}(X))$. The following are examples of our results. $\text{PWM} (\text{bmo}_{(log(1//r))^{-α}}(\mathbb{T}^n), \text{bmo}_{(log(1//r))^{-β}}(\mathbb{T}^n)) = \text{bmo}_{(log(1//r))^{α-β-1}}(\mathbb{T}^n)$, 0≤β < α < 1, $\text{PWM} (\text{bmo}_{(log(1//r))^{-1}}(\mathbb{T}^n), \text{bmo} (\mathbb{T}^n)) = bmo_{(log log(1//r))^{-1}}(\mathbb{T}^n),$ $\text{PWM} (\text{bmo}(ℝ^n),\text{bmo}_{log(|a|+r+1//r),p}(ℝ^n)) = \text{bmo}(ℝ^n)$, 1 < p < ∞, etc.

Let a and b be fixed real numbers such that 0 < min{a,b} < 1 < a + b. We prove that every function f:(0,∞) → ℝ satisfying f(as + bt) ≤ af(s) + bf(t), s,t > 0, and such that $limsup_{t → 0+} f(t) ≤ 0$ must be of the form f(t) = f(1)t, t > 0. This improves an earlier result in [5] where, in particular, f is assumed to be nonnegative. Some generalizations for functions defined on cones in linear spaces are given. We apply these results to give a new characterization of the $L^p$-norm.

Opis:
Let D be an open subset of a homogeneous space(X,d,μ). Consider the maximal function $M_φ f(x) = sup1/φ(B) ʃ_{B∩∂D} |f|dν$, x∈ D, where the supremum is taken over all balls of the form B = B(a(x),r) with r > t(x) = d(x,∂D), a(x)∈ ∂D is such that d(a(x),x) < 3/2 t(x)$ and φ is a nonnegative set function defined for all Borel sets of X satisfying the quasi-monotonicity and doubling properties. We give a necessary and sufficient condition on the weights w and v for the weighted norm inequality (0.1) $(ʃ_D [M_φ(f)]^q wdμ)^{1/q} ≤ c(ʃ_{∂D} |f|^p vdν)^{1/p}$ to hold when 1 < p < q < ∞, $σdν = v^{1-p'}dν$ is a doubling weight, and dν is a doubling measure, and give a sufficient condition for (0.1) when 1 < p ≤ q < ∞ without assuming that σ is a doubling weight but with an extra assumption on φ. Another characterization for (0.1) is also provided for 1 < p ≤ q < ∞ and D of the form Y×(0,∞), where Y is a homogeneous space with group structure. These results generalize some known theorems in the case when $M_φ$ is the fractional maximal function in $ℝ^{n+1}_+$, that is, when $M_φ f(x,t) = M_γ f(x,t) = sup_{r>t} 1/(ν(B(x,r))^{1-γ}) ʃ_{B(x,r)} |f|dν$, where $(x,t) ∈ ℝ^{n+1}_+$, 0 < γ < 1, and ν is a doubling measure in $ℝ^n$.

Opis:
Heat exhaustion of mining environments can cause a significant threat to human health. The existing cooling strategies for the mine face aim to cool the whole face. However, the necessary cooling space for the face is small, with a considerable amount of energy for cooling being wasted. Necessary cooling space is a space occupied by the workers in the face. This study proposed to build a non-homogeneous thermal environment for cost-effective energy savings in the face. An inlet air cooler was laid out in the intake airway to cool the whole face to some extent, and the tracking air cooler was designed to track the worker who constantly moved to improve the thermal environment. The cooling load and air distribution for this cooling strategy were investigated. In addition, the airflow in the face was solved numerically to estimate the cooling effect. The results revealed that an average energy saving of approximately 35% could be achieved. The thermal environment of the necessary cooling space within at least 10 m was significantly improved. This cooling strategy should be taken into account in mine cooling.

A metric space (X,ϱ) satisfies the disjoint (0,n)-cells property provided for each point x ∈ X, any map f of the n-cell $B^{n}$ into X and for each ε > 0 there exist a point y ∈ X and a map $g:B^{n} → X$ such that ϱ(x,y) < ε, $\widehat{ϱ}(f,g) < ε$ and $y ∉ g(B^{n})$. It is proved that each homogeneous locally compact ANR of dimension >2 has the disjoint (0,2)-cells property. If dimX = n > 0, X has the disjoint (0,n-1)-cells property and X is a locally compact $LC^{n-1}$-space then local homologies satisfy $H_{k}(X,X-x) = 0$ for k < n and H_{n}(X,X-x) ≠ 0.
