In this paper,we start by the research of the existence of Lyapunov homogeneous function for a class of homogeneous fractional Systems, then we shall prove that local and global behaviors are the same. The uniform Mittag-Leffler stability of homogeneous fractional time-varying systems is studied. A numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results.

The Cantor set and the set of irrational numbers are examples of 0-dimensional, totally disconnected, homogeneous spaces which admit elegant characterizations and which play a crucial role in analysis and dynamical systems. In this paper we will start the study of 1-dimensional, totally disconnected, homogeneous spaces. We will provide a characterization of such spaces and use it to show that many examples of such spaces which exist in the literature in various fields are all homeomorphic. In particular, we will show that the set of endpoints of the universal separable ℝ-tree, the set of endpoints of the Julia set of the exponential map, the set of points in Hilbert space all of whose coordinates are irrational and the set of endpoints of the Lelek fan are all homeomorphic. Moreover, we show that these spaces satisfy a topological scaling property: all non-empty open subsets and all complements of σ-compact subsets are homeomorphic.

In this paper, stability and instability of Functionally Graded Piezoelectric (FGP) beams is investigated based on the Timoshenko beam theory. The material properties of the beam are considered to change gradually through thickness of the beam by a simple power law. By using the principle of minimum total potential energy, governing equations of the beam are derived. Stability behavior of the beam is predicted by solving the governing equations of the FGP beam. The results show that the homogeneity of boundary conditions plays a critical role in the stability of the FGP beam. While non-homogeneous boundary conditions lead to stable behavior of the FGP beam; homogeneous boundary conditions cause instability in the beam. By solving the eigenvalue equation of the FGP beam, the buckling load of the beam is obtained for the beams that have unstable behavior. Finally, the effects of various parameters on the buckling load of the unstable beam, such as power law index, temperature, applied voltage and aspect ratio are investigated, and the results are compared with the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory.

We study planar polynomial differential equations with homogeneous components. This kind of equations present a simple and well known dynamics when the degrees (n and m) of both components coincide. Here we consider the case $n\ne m$ and we show that the dynamics is more complicated. In fact, we prove that such systems can exhibit periodic orbits only when nm is odd. Furthermore, for nm odd we give examples of such differential equations with at least (n+m)/2 limit cycles.

We point out relations between Siciak's homogeneous extremal function $Ψ_B$ and the Cauchy-Poisson transform in case $B$ is a ball in ℝ². In particular, we find effective formulas for $Ψ_B$ for an important class of balls. These formulas imply that, in general, $Ψ_B$ is not a norm in ℂ².

We construct a sequence of homogeneous polynomials on the unit ball $\mathbb{B}_d$ in $\mathbb{C}^d$ which are big at each point of the unit sphere . Magnetic field is usually generated using magnets realized as a set of simple coils. In general, those magnets generate magnetic field with nonzero components in all directions. Usually during the design process only one component of the magnetic field is taken into account, and in the optimization procedure the currents and positions of simple coils are found to minimize the error between the axial component of the magnetic field and the required magnetic field in the ROI. In this work, it is shown that if the high quality homogeneous magnetic field is generated then indeed one may neglect non-axial components. On the other hand, if the obtained magnetic field is not homogeneous either due to design requirements of too restrictive constrains, then all other components may severely deteriorate the quality of the magnetic field. In the second part of the paper, we show how to design a 3D transversal coil system to solve problems which are intractable in the 1D case.

Considering the flow in the last stages of LP (low pressure) steam turbine the strong non-linearity of the thermal parameters of state and possibility of the two-phase flow have to be taken into account in the numerical calculation of the flow field. In this paper numerical calculations of the steam condensing flow for the turbine geometry are presented. The steam properties are described here on the basis of the IAPWS’97 formulation. The classical nucleation theory of Volmer and Frenkel was adapted for modelling of condensing flow. The droplet growth model of Gyarmathy is implemented. The calculations are based on the time dependent 3D Euler equations, which are coupled to three additional mass conservation equations for the liquid phase and are solved in conservative form.

We give a necessary and sufficient condition on the weights w and v for the weighted norm inequality (0.1) $(ʃ_D [M_φ(f)]^q wdμ)^{1/q} ≤ c(ʃ_{∂D} |f|^p vdν)^{1/p}$ to hold when 1 < p < q < ∞, $σdν = v^{1-p'}dν$ is a doubling weight, and dν is a doubling measure, and give a sufficient condition for (0.1) when 1 < p ≤ q < ∞ without assuming that σ is a doubling weight but with an extra assumption on φ. Another characterization for (0.1) is also provided for 1 < p ≤ q < ∞ and D of the form Y×(0,∞), where Y is a homogeneous space with group structure. These results generalize some known theorems in the case when $M_φ$ is the fractional maximal function in $ℝ^{n+1}_+$, that is, when $M_φ f(x,t) = M_γ f(x,t) = sup_{r>t} 1/(ν(B(x,r))^{1-γ}) ʃ_{B(x,r)} |f|dν$, where $(x,t) ∈ ℝ^{n+1}_+$, 0 < γ < 1, and ν is a doubling measure in $ℝ^n$.
