The recognition that transversal competences are increasingly needed to face the challenges of the ever-changing world has given rise to work examining students' development of transversal competences (TVCs) during their university time. This approach argues in favor of embedding transversal competences as well as health literacy competence and subject-based competences in curricula. The mini-study presented herein first posits a logical model for the integration of transversal competences in university curricula, supplemented with a qualimetric model comprising 6 factors associated with transversal competences. The resulting tools for transversal competence evaluation and self-assessment were next applied in a pilot questionnaire study of a small group of management students at a local university. Overall, the findings support the claim that students' TVC development requires a new educational paradigm based on a holistic approach to competence-based learning that involves the harmonious development of a person's TVCs and subject-based competences. Moreover, the results may serve as a reference for future studies on transversal competences and health literacy in particular, as well as for teachers and researchers in related fields.

Opis:
The article deals with the problem of training specialists in the field of petroleum engineering ready to work in interdisciplinary teams and projects. Interdisciplinary approach including globally conditioned interdisciplinarity has been discussed in the context of engineering education since the beginning of the 21th century. This approach contains a number of basic components, namely: structure, process, language, identity, and technologies. Efficiency of interdisciplinary training depends on the general dynamics of a team. The international community has not disputed on the significance of interdisciplinary approach for engineers, but the key issue remains – how to apply theory for practice in both curricula development and learning process itself. Interdisciplinarity in the petroleum education is considered as a basis for critically new competitive engineering solutions. The indicators proving the presence of interdisciplinary management system at university are outlined. Based on the elaborated principles of interdisciplinary activities a set of required tools and elements to manage interdisciplinary training of petroleum engineers is presented. The significance of an interdisciplinary approach in professional training for future petroleum engineers is grounded. It has been proved that interdisciplinarity in its broadest sense is the trend, challenges of a global nature, which are updated set of circumstances, reasons that are multifaceted, varied and contradictory. It has been substantiated that the methodological part, multidisciplinary update of economics has become a constructive synthesis of theoretical research in this area, which includes not just interdisciplinary cooperation and mutual enrichment at the methodological level, forming a systematic, holistic vision of the economy, the problems and contradictions of development.

This paper proposes an approach to verb-noun constructions that allows them to be understood holistically, which facilitates the acquisition of their distinctive features (for example, the presence or absence of an article) and their effective correlation with certain communicative functions and situations. Therefore, their use will not only be lexically and grammatically appropriate, but the apprentices will be able to make use of them as a whole acquired and associated with a certain communicative situation or function. As a result, their fluency will gain naturalness and will be closer to native.

This paper presents the issue of a lawyer’s integrity from the perspective of the assumptions underlying the original concept of a holistic approach to law and legal practice. In the course of the discussion, the basic principles of legal holism, the assumed understanding of lawyer’s integrity and their personal qualities forming the lawyer personality, and the problem of integrity in the context of the formula (model) shaping the lawyer-client relationship will be introduced. Legal holism recognises a lawyer’s self-knowledge, their conscious choice of professional role(s), the ways in which they are performed and the formula for working with clients and parties to disputes as crucial issues for the practice of law. It emphasises their complexity and possible impact on the postulated observance by a lawyer of the integrity of attitudes and actions in professional and private life. The author represents a research approach related to the concept of ontological and methodological multidimensionality of legal phenomena and the postulate of the so-called external integration of jurisprudence with the achievements of other sciences, including branches other than social (e.g. psychology or sociology).
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie problematyki integralności prawnika z perspektywy założeń autorskiej koncepcji holistycznego podejścia do prawa i praktyki prawniczej. W trakcie rozważań zostaną zaprezentowane podstawowe założenia holizmu prawniczego, przyjmowane rozumienie integralności prawnika i jego właściwości personalnych, tworzących prawniczą osobowość (the Lawyer Personality) oraz problematyka integralności w kontekście formuły (modelu) relacji prawnika z klientem. Holizm prawniczy za kwestie doniosłe dla praktyki prawniczej uznaje odpowiednie poznanie przez prawnika samego siebie, świadomy wybór przez niego roli zawodowej lub ról, sposobów ich wykonywania oraz formuły współpracy z klientem i stronami sporów. Podkreśla ich złożoność i możliwy wpływ na postulowane zachowywanie przez prawnika integralności postaw i czynów w życiu zawodowym i prywatnym. Autor reprezentuje podejście badawcze związane z koncepcją wielopłaszczyznowości ontologicznej i metodologicznej zjawisk prawnych oraz postulatem tzw. zewnętrznej integracji prawoznawstwa z dorobkiem innych nauk, nie tylko społecznych (np. psychologii czy socjologii).

The aim of the article is to outline the approach to developing a long-term strategy for sustainable development of agriculture in Poland. The author pre- sents the issues to be considered when pursuing such a strategy. It is limited to three issues: justification for agricultural transformation towards sustainability, approach to strategy pursuing and strategy outline. The analysis was made on the basis of literature and the author’s own reflections. It was found that the transformation of agriculture towards sustainability re- quires developing an appropriate long-term strategy, which in particular would create a framework for ongoing programs and policy interventions. When imple- menting the strategy – generational change – some objectives result directly from EU policy – in particular achieving climate neutrality and preventing biodiversity decline. Moreover, the objectives which cannot be ignored include soil fertility and food security. There is a need to develop scenarios for achieving these objec- tives with regard to the welfare and aspirations of the new generation, taking into account progress (innovation) and new demographic, climate, environmental, social, and cultural conditions at the national and international level.
Celem artykułu jest zarysowanie podejścia do opracowania długookresowej strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju rolnictwa w Polsce. Przedstawiono zagadnienia, jakie trzeba rozważyć, budując taką strategię. Ograniczono się do trzech zagadnień: uzasadnienia transformacji rolnictwa ku zrównoważeniu, podejścia do budowy strategii oraz szkicu strategii. Analizy dokonano na podstawie literatury przedmiotu i własnych przemyśleń autora. Stwierdzono, że transformacja rolnictwa ku zrównoważeniu wymaga wypracowania stosownej strategii długookresowej, która w szczególności tworzyłaby ramy dla bieżących programów i interwencji polityki. W okresie realizacji strategii – zmiany pokoleniowej – niektóre cele wynikają wprost z polityki UE – w szczególności dotyczące osiągnięcia neutralności klimatycznej i powstrzymania redukcji bioróżnorodności. Również nie do pominięcia są cele dotyczące żyzności gleb i bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego. Zachodzi potrzeba opracowania scenariuszy dochodzenia do tych celów z odniesieniem do dobrostanu i aspiracji przychodzącego na świat pokolenia – uwzględniając przy tym czynnik postępu (innowacje) oraz nowe uwarunkowania demograficzne, klimatyczne, środowiskowe, społeczne, kulturowe – krajowe i międzynarodowe.

Nelson, in his latest book Daoism and Environmental Philosophy. Nourishing Life introduces the reader to the environmental approach known to Chinese communities for centuries. In a comprehensive and accurate manner, the author presents the Chinese approach to life and development, the understanding and interpretation of which has changed over the centuries, invariably emphasizing man’s belonging to the world of nature. This review introduces the author’s assumptions presented in the book, combining them with relatively new thoughts and paradigms appearing in the 20th and 21st centuries in Western Europe and the United States.

The aim of the text is to introduce BRIDGING, an international project that involves professionals working in educational institutions (kindergarten, school or crèche), academic and cultural institution from Poland, Portugal, Finland and Belgium. The project aims to improve the quality of practices in early childhood education through participation of children, teachers, cultural and academic staff in artistic projects in public spaces. Crucial part of BRIDGING is to promote various ways of communication of children and adults using the concept of citizenship in the context of holistic approach. Additionally our intention is to introduce the preliminary results of the first Polish part of the BRIDGING project research. The study was conducted to investigate how the project is perceived by kindergarten teachers. Although only the first results are presented here, it is already quite evident what the specific areas of teachers’ sense of vocational self-efficacy are. The results show that our respondents value the experiences brought to them by the project. In their opinion BRIDGING gave them an opportunity to acquire knowledge about their city, neighbourhood and the partners’ countries. They also stated that the project has improved their skills of using ICT tools and various art techniques.

One of the main views which appears throughout prof. Pawlak's paper is one initially expressed by Anna Zofia Krygowska, the most influential researcher of mathematics education in Poland. According to this view - the teacher and his preparation, and thus the problems of teaching mathematics, are never "ahistorical" (Krygowska, 1981, as quoted by Pawlak, 2019). In other words, the problems of mathematics education cannot be viewed outside of their historical and cultural contexts. Practically, this means that when we design our teacher training courses, we cannot, e.g., ignore the current scientifc and societal developments and especially the increased use of mobile technologies even for everyday purposes. Prof. Pawlak recognizes this issue and suggests using technology as an aid to motivate students. This brings us to the second overarching view of the paper, namely the importance of motivating students to be involved in mathematics.

Environmentally and socially responsive supply chains are in the early adoption stages in India. Global supply chains need worldwide goals, and the key to the success of Green Supply Chain Management is to bring the worldwide industry together to decide upon and pledge to work towards reasonable and concrete goals that will make a real difference to the environment. Customers are increasingly demanding to know where products come from, how they are made and distributed and what impact future environmental legislations will have on the products they buy. The aim of this paper is to provide action plans and facilitate knowledge among supply chain practitioner that they need to go green the business efficiently, and communicate these efforts to their customers, partners, and the public. In fact, the paper discusses the key drivers for green initiatives include government compliance, improved customer and public relations, a decreased fuel bill and financial ROI through various supply chain initiatives such as reverse logistics. Further, increasing supply chain efficiency, improving investor relations, decreasing risk and a larger corporate responsibility agenda are identified as important factors in the strategic decision to go green. Companies working in India are not properly addressing these measures in supply chain design and operations. That is why, the paper further elaborates strategic management of green supply chain, which involves collecting and analyzing environmental regulations and customer concerns, discussing the relevant environmental issues with the procurement, manufacturing and quality control departments across the supply chain firms and finally developing and communicating the green supply chain policies to all members of the supply chain i.e. supplier’s supplier to customer’s customer.

Opis:
The constant search, research and application of various, amicable forms of dispute resolution, including those using institutions such as apology, forgiveness and reconciliation, should be considered as justified, as it can bring benefits in the individual, interpersonal and social spheres. The aim of the article is to present the specific professional or social role that lawyers can perform, especially during dispute resolution, known as lawyer as peacemaker. This paper describes the understanding of the lawyer’s specific role as a peacemaker, based on the author’s concept of a holistic approach to law and legal practice. The paper analyses the essence of the institution of apology, forgiveness and reconciliation, which are particularly significant for the practice of alternative dispute resolution, based on peacemaking. Finally, selected Polish civil and criminal law regulations referring to apology, forgiveness or reconciliation are identified.
Stałe poszukiwanie, badanie i aplikowanie różnorodnych, polubownych form opanowywania sporów, w tym wykorzystujących takie instytucje, jak: przeprosiny, przebaczenie i pojednanie, należy uznać za jak najbardziej zasadne, gdyż może przynieść korzyści w wymiarze indywidualnym, interpersonalnym i społecznym. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie specyficznej roli zawodowej lub społecznej, jaką mogą wykonywać prawnicy, określanej mianem lawyer as peacemaker. W toku rozważań przedstawiono przyjmowane rozumienie roli i celów prawnika jako peacemaker, bazujące na autorskiej koncepcji holistycznego podejścia do prawa i praktyki prawniczej. Następnie podjęto kwestie dotyczące istoty aktu przeprosin, przebaczenia i pojednania w kontekście opanowywania sporów prawnych zgodnie z tzw. peacemaking. Ponadto w tekście zidentyfikowane zostały regulacje polskiego prawa cywilnego i karnego odnoszące się do przeprosin, przebaczenia oraz pojednania.

Zespół wad złożonych o podłożu genetycznym, jakim jest zespół Nagera, występuje niezwykle rzadko. W literaturze naukowej jest mało doniesień na temat diagnostyki i leczenia w tym zespole chorobowym. Osiągnięcie postępów leczniczych, w przypadku dziecka z zespołem Nagera, wymaga interdyscyplinarnego podejście w celu zaplanowania właściwej terapii. Z uwagi na wielorakość zaburzeń we wszystkich sferach rozwoju konieczna jest ścisła współpraca fizjoterapeuty ze specjalistami w dziedzinie neurologii, neurochirurgii, psychologii, neurologopedii. Tylko wtedy stymulacja rozwoju może przynieść wymierne efekty i będzie miała wpływ na stworzenie osobie niepełnosprawnej najlepszych warunków do rozwoju w każdym aspekcie życia. Celem pracy jest wykazanie znaczenia ścisłej współpracy fizjoterapeuty z pozostałymi specjalistami w tworzeniu planu terapii dla pacjenta z rzadko występującą chorobą genetyczną.
Complex defects syndrome with genetic origin, such as Nager syndrome, occurs extremely rare. There are only few reports on diagnostics and treatment of this syndrome in the specialist medical literature. In case of a child with Nager syndrome progress in medical treatment requires an interdisciplinary approach in order to prepare a proper therapy. Due to the multitude of disorders in all spheres of development, a close cooperation between physiotherapist and specialists in the field of neurology, neurosurgery, psychology and neurologopedics is essential. Only then can stimulation of development show measurable effects and have an impact on creation the best development conditions in every aspect of a disabled person’s life. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate the importance of strict physiotherapist cooperation with other specialist in order to develop a proper treatment plan for a patient with a rare genetic disease.

Artykuł dotyczy jednego ze współczesnych podejść do myślenia o przyszłości, jakim jest foresight. Autorki skupiły się na przedstawieniu koncepcji mapowania badań predykcyjnych typu foresight, odwzorowując ją w strukturze holonu - holarchii. Na zarysowanym tle wyróżniły program (projekt) jako kluczowy element strukturalny w holistycznym ujęciu procesu foresightu. Wskazały także na użyteczność wykorzystania podejścia holarchicznego w myśleniu o przyszłości.
The article discusses one of the contemporary approaches to thinking about the future, i.e. foresight. The authors present the concept of mapping predictive foresight studies onto the holone-holarchy structure. Against this background they identify a programme (project) as the key structural element in the holistic approach to foresight. They also argue that the holarchic approach can be useful when applied to foresight.

The paper is an attempt to verify empirically a holistic multimodal approach to pronunciation training developed by Szpyra-Kozłowska (2015). It reports a phonodidactic experiment carried out with two groups of Polish secondary school intermediate learners of English and demonstrates that the tested procedure is both more effective that the traditional listen-and-repeat tasks and more attractive to the participants, as shown in a post-test questionnaire study.Artykuł jest próbą empirycznej weryfikacji holistycznego multimodalnego podejścia do treningu fonetycznego, zaproponowanego przez Szpyrę-Kozłowską (2015). Autorzy relacjonują przeprowadzony przez nich eksperyment fonodydaktyczny z udziałem dwóch grup polskich uczniów na średniozaawansowanym poziomie angielszczyzny i wykazują, że zastosowana metoda jest zarówno bardziej efektywna niż tradycyjne ćwiczenia oparte na imitacji wzorca fonetycznego, jak również bardziej atrakcyjna dla uczniów, co wykazała przeprowadzona wśród nich ankieta.

The World Health Organization defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’ This definition promotes holistic approach towards patients. New discoveries and developments in medical science, lead to breaking up medicine into narrow specialities. New generation of health workers needs role models that are able to enhance the status of medical profession and to oppose negative consequences of fragmentation of medicine and commercialization in health sector. The author of the article proposed Dr Wanda Blenska – doctor of leprosy patients from Uganda - as a role model of holistic approach in medicine. Doctor Wanda Blenska took efforts to understand her leprosy patients and support them in all their needs. Her service not only included treatment of ‘leprosy’ as infectious disease, but also physical and psychological rehabilitation of patients, orthopaedic and cosmetic surgery, or even changing the patient’s environment to ensure their highest possible physical, mental and social well-being. Doctor Wanda Blenska left a message to the new generation of doctors: first of all, medical profession is a vocation; care for patients should be motivated by desire to relief the patients’ suffering and not only by own financial benefits; doctors should see a human being in every patient and respect and treat them in a holistic way. 
Światowa Organizacja Zdrowia definiuje zdrowie jako nie tylko brak choroby czy kalectwa, lecz stan kompletego fizycznego, psychicznego i społecznego dobrostanu. Definicja ta promuje holistyczne podejście do zdrowia pacjenta. Rozwój nauk medycznych sprzyja fragmentalizacji medycyny. Nowe pokolenia lekarzy potrzebują wzorców, które potrafią podnieść rangę zawodu lekarza i przeciwstawić się negatywnym trendom związanym z fragmentalizacją medycyny oraz komercjalizacją w sektorze zdrowia. Za wzorzec podejścia holistycznego zaproponowano dotkor Wandę Błeńską, lekarkę trędowatych z Ugandy. Doktor Błeńska starała się zrozumieć chorych na trąd i pomagać im na wszystkich płaszczyznach. Jej praca obejmowała nie tylko leczenie trądu jako choroby zakaźnej, ale także rehabilitację, zabiegi operacyjne poprawiające wygląd i sprawność chorych oraz wpływ na otaczające środowisko w celu zapewnienia pacjentom jak najwyższych możliwych standardów zdrowia. Doktor Błeńska zostawiła młodym pokoleniom lekarzy przesłanie, że zawód lekarza to przede wszystkim powołanie, a troska o pacjenta powinna wypływać z chęci pomocy choremu, a nie z oczekiwania zysku, oraz że w każdym pacjencie należy widzieć człowieka i traktować go podmiotowo i holistycznie.

Background: The research work on entrepreneurship, enterprise's policy and management, which started in 1992, successfully continued in the following years. Between 1992 and 2011, more than 400 academics and other researchers have participated in research work (MER research program) whose main orientation has been the creation of their own model of integral management. Results: In past years, academics (researchers and authors of published papers) from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Byelorussia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Russia, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the US have cooperated in MER programs, coming from more than fifty institutions. Thus, scientific doctrines of different universities influenced the development of the MER model which is based on both horizontal and vertical integration of the enterprises' governance and management processes, instruments and institutions into a consistently operating unit. Conclusions: The presented MER model is based on the multi-layer integration of governance and management with an enterprise and its environment, considering the fundamental desires for the enterprises' existence and, thus, their quantitative as well as qualitative changes. The process, instrumental, and institutional integrity of the governance and management is also the initial condition for the implementation of all other integration factors.
Wstęp: Prace badawcze nad przedsiębiorczością, polityką przedsiębiorstw oraz zarządzania, rozpoczęte w 1992, były z sukcesem kontynuowane w kolejnych latach. W okresie od 1992 do 2011, ponad 400 pracowników naukowych brało udział w projekcie badawczym (program badawczy MER), którego głównym celem było stworzenie własnego modelu zarządzania zintegrowanego. Wyniki: W ostatnich latach, w programach MER brali udział pracownicy naukowi (biorący udział w badaniach oraz autorzy publikowanych prac), którzy pochodzi z ponad 50 instytucji z Austrii, Belgii, Bośni i Hercegowiny, Bułgarii, Białorusi, Kanady, Czech, Chorwacji, Estonii, Francji, Niemiec, Węgier, Włoch, Polski, Rumunii, Rosji, Słowacji, Słowenii, Szwajcarii, Ukrainy i Stanów Zjednoczonych. W wyniku tego, doktryny naukowe różnych uniwersytetów miały wpływ na rozwój modelu MER, który to opiera się zarówno na horyzontalnej jak i wertykalnej integracji zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem, procesów zarządzania, instrumentów oraz instytucji w jeden spójny operacyjny organizm. Wnioski: Prezentowany model MER jest oparty na wielopoziomowej integracji zarządzania i kierowania przedsiębiorstwem oraz jego otoczeniem, uwzględniając podstawowe dążenia przedsiębiorstwa do jego istnienia, jak również jego ilościowych i jakościowych zmian. Proces instrumentalnego oraz instytucjonalnego zintegrowania zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem jest także wstępnym warunkiem wdrożenia innych czynników integracji.
