    Józef Obrebski's article entitled 'Bronislaw Malinowski's Functional Method of Analysis' preserved in his archives in manuscript form. was edited by Anna Engelking. This elaborate work concerning the method of analysis of Obrebski's professor and mentor presents Malinowski's functionalism in the context of both his own scholarly biography as well contemporary anthropology. The article is accompanied by discussion by Kotarbinski and Ossowski, and the author's own response to it. The remaining archival texts by Obrebski are included in the Annex. These are fragments of two lost or unfinished larger works regarding Malinowski from the late 1930's. The first edition of these yet unknown archival works and the evidence of the first studies of Malinowski's legacy becomes an interesting contribution to the history of Polish ethnology and sociology.
    Prezentowany tekst, zachowany w spuściźnie archiwalnej Józefa Obrebskiego w postaci maszynopisu referatu, został opracowany do druku przez Annę Engelking. W obszernym referacie o metodzie badawczej swojego nauczyciela i mistrza, wygłoszonym w 1939 roku, Obrębski przedstawił interpretację funkcjonalizmu Malinowskiego, ukazując ją w kontekście zarówno ówczesnej myśli antropologicznej, jak i własnej biografii naukowej. Referatowi towarzyszy dyskusja z głosami m.in. Tadeusza Kotarbinskiego i Stanislawa Ossowskiego oraz odpowiedzią prelegenta. Pozostałe archiwalne teksty Obrębskiego to zamieszczone w Aneksie fragmenty dwóch nieukończonych lub niezachowanych większych jego prac dotyczących Malinowskiego z końca lat trzydziestych XX wieku. Opracowanie - pierwodruk nieznanych dotychczas badaczom archiwaliow Obrębskiego i zarazem świadectwo pierwszych polskich badań nad Malinowskim - stanowi interesujący przyczynek do historii polskiej etnologii i socjologii.

    The following article is an extended commentary to Jozef Obrebski's writings regarding Bronislaw Malinowski's anthropology. Obrebski's archival text is included in this volume. The author starts with presenting Obrebski's (1905-1967) scholarly biography. He was a student and a doctoral candidate of Malinowski who became ardently devoted to popularizing Malinowski's theories by virtue of further studies and translations. Most of Obrebski's archival legacy can be found at the University of Massachussetts at Amherst, USA. The second part of the article deals with the history of relations between the two scholars, which the author managed to trace through a meticulous search of various source materials and archives. In the third part of the article the author sums up the results of her findings. By juxtaposing Obrebski's newly found Malinowskiana with his published works related to Malinowski, of which there are very few and often and only fragmentary, we find important testimony to the initial reception of functionalism in Poland.
    Artykuł jest komentarzem do odnalezionych w spuściźnie archiwalnej Józefa Obrębskiego pism dotyczących antropologu Bronisława Malinowskiego, zamieszczonych w niniejszym tomie na stronach 35-63. Autorka rozpoczyna od przedstawienia biografii naukowej Obrębskiego (1905-1967). Był on uczniem i doktorantem, później także popularyzatorem, tłumaczem i badaczem myśli teoretycznej Malinowskiego. Większość spuścizny archiwalnej Obrębskiego znajduje się w archiwum University of Massachusetts w Amherst w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Druga część artykułu to omówienie dziejów kontaktu między obu uczonymi, które autorka odtworzyła dzięki poszukiwaniom archiwalnym i źródłowym. W części trzeciej autorka przedstawia wyniki swoich dociekań nad odnalezionymi w archiwaliach Obrębskiego Malinowscianami w zestawieniu z jego opublikowanymi pracami dotyczącymi Malinowskiego i konstatuje, iż - choć nie jest ich wiele, a część z nich to zaledwie ułamki większych całości - wydają się godne uwagi jako świadectwo początków recepcji funkcjonalizmu w Polsce.

    The author discusses the first Polish systematics of magic spells against illness, which was proposed by Józef Obrębski in a brochure Index for „Treating the Polish people” by Henryk Biegeleisen in 1931. Obrębski introduced a division of spells into 9 groups, separated on the basis  of their  content,  form and  function.  It  was  not  an  autonomous  development.  It  have been created for the needs of someone else’s work and on the margin of a broader classification of material in the field of folk medicine as a whole. However, the proposal of Obrębski  can  be  regarded  as  a  serious  outline covering  all  material  concerning  the  systematics  of spells against illness. In the following parts of the article the author sets the discussed work in  a  due  context,  locating  it  in  the  history  of Polish research  on  the  genre  of  spells.  She recalls the first nineteenth-century works and analyses a possible impact of the Obrębski’s systematics on the subsequent approaches to the subject.

    Treścią tego artykułu są problemy nurtujące po dziś dzień badaczy kultury, bez względu na ich uwikłanie w poszczególne szkoły czy nurty badawcze. Lévi-Strauss snuje nieustannie refleksję nad istotą etnologii, nad celowością i etyką etnologicznych badań, a także nad metodami ich przeprowadzania. Pewne wątki obecne w Smutku tropików, układające się w spójną całość i wciąż, w różnych odsłonach, powracające na kartach książki, odczytywać można „jako metodologiczne – i etyczne – rozważania nad naturą studiów najpierw podróżniczych, a potem już ujętych w ramy nowoczesnej nauki, etnologii”. Podróż w głąb etnologii, dla której pożywką stała się realna podróż badawcza do Brazylii, odbywa się wielotorowo. Jej szlak wytyczają nie tylko lektury, ale także elementy kultury materialnej, zachowania i instytucje, które Lévi-Strauss porównuje częstokroć ze znanymi mu, wcześniejszymi opisami indiańskich plemion.
    This article deals with the matter of problems pervading culture researchers up to date despite their belonging to different schools or researching trends. Lévi-Strauss continuously cherishes his reflections connected with the essence of ethnology, purposefulness and ethics of ethnological research and with the methods that are used in conducting them. Some of the notions present in “Tristes Tropiques”, creating a unified wholeness and still coming back in the book, can be perceived as “methodological – and ethical – deliberations over the nature of studies at first linked to travels, and later put into a framework of modern science – ethnology.” A travel inwards ethnology, which was triggered by a real research travel to Brazil, is multipronged. Its route is marked not only by readings, but also by some elements of material culture, various behaviors and institutions that are often compared by Lévi-Strauss to prior descriptions of Indian tribes.

    The article is an attempt at collecting and discussing the procedures of the ethnogeographical method which have been used in Polish ethnology from the beginning of the twentieth century until today. The most important discussions of this method in the Polish scientific literature have been compiled, and on their basis a list synthesising its principles and heuristics has been created. The subsequent part of the article discusses how the ethnogeographic method as practised in Poland so far presents itself from the perspective of contemporary cartographic and statistical methods, especially from the viewpoint of research within the framework of cultural evolution and digital humanities.

    Fundamental theology as a discipline and academic center conducting research as well as didactic and organizational activity has existed at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin since its beginning, first as the Department of Fundamental Theology (1918–20), then the Section of Fundamental Theology (1920–99), and since 1999 as the Institute of Fundamental Theology. As it developed, the center began to take the form of a scientific school, the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology. Its foundations were laid by Rev. Edward Kopeć. Subsequently, it was developed by, among others, Rev. Stanisław Nagy, Rev. Romuald Łukaszyk, Rev. Henryk Zimoń (religious scholar), and especially by Rev. Marian Rusecki (a student of Rev. E. Kopeć), the main co-founder of the school and its most prolific author, whose scientific achievements are the department’s showcase and have influenced contemporary Polish fundamental theology. During his time, especially at the beginning of the 21st century, the school reported its greatest scientific and organizational achievements. Currently, it is continually being developed by Rev. M. Rusecki’s students who work at the Institute of Fundamental Theology and its graduates working in other centers. This article presents the scientific characteristics (historical outline, features and main trends) of the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology (Section 1) and its most important achievements (Section 2): the main publications, organizational achievements as well as national and international cooperation.

    Teologia fundamentalna, jako dyscyplina i ośrodek akademicki prowadzący działalność naukowo-badawczą, dydaktyczną i organizacyjną, istnieje w KUL od jego początku, najpierw jako Katedra Teologii Fundamentalnej (1918-20), potem Sekcja Teologii Fundamentalnej (1920-99), a od 1999 Instytut Teologii Fundamentalnej. W trakcie rozwoju ośrodek ten zaczął przybierać kształt szkoły naukowej – lubelskiej szkoły teologii fundamentalnej. Jej podwaliny położył ks. Edward Kopeć. Potem rozwijali ją m.in. ks. Stanisław Nagy, ks. Romuald Łukaszyk, religioznawca ks. Henryk Zimoń, a zwłaszcza ks. Marian Rusecki (uczeń ks. Kopcia) – główny współtwórca szkoły i jej najpłodniejszy autor, którego naukowe dokonania są wizytówką szkoły i oddziałują na współczesną polską teologię fundamentalną. Za jego czasów, zwłaszcza od początku XXI w., szkoła odnotowała najwięcej najbardziej znaczących dokonań naukowych i organizacyjnych. Aktualnie starają się ją rozwijać uczniowie ks. Ruseckiego pracujący w Instytucie Teologii Fundamentalnej KUL, a także jej absolwenci pracujący w innych ośrodkach. W niniejszym artykule została przedstawiona naukowa charakterystyka (rys historyczny, cechy i główne nurty badawcze) lubelskiej szkoły teologii fundamentalnej (punkt 1) oraz jej najważniejsze osiągnięcia (punkt 2): główne publikacje, osiągnięcia organizacyjne oraz współpraca krajowa i międzynarodowa.
