Opis:
Among challenges of the coming century are: growing multiculturalism, internationalization, globalization and glocalization. One of the biggest ones concerning modern education is preparing young people for living in this culturally diverse society - where we are increasingly dealing with differences not only in cultural artifacts, but also in the values and standards. Modern university, open and internationalized, should show how to learn, how to cooperate, how to professionally exist and how to find a way in such a multicultural society. The internationalization of a higher education requires more elaborate and complex pedagogical approaches in order to make a use of the multi-ethnic student groups and to allow each student's own intercultural competence the development of. This article presents conditions of education in a multicultural society and defines the concept of cultural intelligence. This category might help in becoming effective in different cultural conditions, in understanding foreign cultures and also in adopting standards and mastering the unfamiliar rules of conduct. According to this research, cultural intelligence is a major determinant of cultural condition that guarantees success in functioning at the crossroads of cultures. The rest of this article shows the structure of a theoretical model of cultural intelligence consisting of four areas: motivational, cognitive, behavioral and metacognitive. Analysis of literature and empirical research results suggest that college graduates with a high level of cultural intelligence largely determines successes of companies operating in a global environment. Therefore, universities should focus on improving the cultural intelligence of students by offered program, methods and forms of teaching, and also by evaluating learning outcomes.

Opis:
The most significant process of the modern civilization advancement is globalization. The crucial tendencies of the world educational system development aim at strengthening the main role of knowledge as a component of employee workshop, often much more precious than the material part, originating from the employer. In 1991, due to globalization processes, Ukraine abandoned the Soviet higher education model, following the international scenario of the higher education development. In the last few years some propositions for reforms of the above system have appeared. The Draft Law on Higher Education approved in December 2012 has made the situation less clear. Currently, the provisional Government of Ukraine declares an intention to tackle the situation properly. It seems necessary to conduct further work on the basis of certain fundamental assumptions and the experiences of countries trying to achieve the mentioned objectives in similar conditions, like Poland or the Czech Republic, etc. In all these countries there is a need for change in order to abandon huge hierarchic and administrative structures by organizing small, self-controlling as well as adaptive structures, and to rethink not only teaching methods but the whole legal environment and organizational principles.
Niektóre przyjęte w tych krajach biurokratyczne rozwiązania mogą bowiem zahamować procesy prorozwojowe i innowacyjne. Wymaga to ponownego przewartościowania i fundamentalnego przemyślenia nie tylko metod nauczania, ale i rozwiązań prawno-organizacyjnych przyjętych przy modernizacji szkolnictwa wyższego, prowadzących do porzucenia rozbudowanych administracyjnych struktur na rzecz stworzenia małych, adaptatywnych, samodzielnie zarządzanych organizacji.

W referacie przedstawiono refleksje o metodyce pracy dydaktycznej w uczelni akademickiej. Opisano cele i proces pracy dydaktycznej w Małopolskiej Wyższej Szkole Ekonomicznej w Tarnowie oraz dokonano oceny tego procesu.
Various prognoses of trends in people's demand in global economy of XXI century are exceptionally consistent only in one prediction - they prove that the most dynamic demand for different kind of educational services will develop. This phenomenon already appeared in Poland in the XX century. Polish society responded to a political system reform and economic reforms with educational boom. Universities find it difficult to face the challenge of economic boom. A lot of private universities have been founded, the number of students in the state universities has increased, but the number of university teachers remained the same. The tasks are more demanding and more responsible and one cannot ignore them. The paper presents rules, forms and results of teaching performed by an academic teacher holding the position of a professor at the Małopolska School of Economics in Tarnów. The paper raises some questions for a discussion of an improvement of teaching results at the university. Those questions are directed to the management of the school, its "owners" and teaching staff. The paper advances a hypothesis, that MWSE in Tarnów has a good chance and conditions to become an outstanding university as regards the level (quality) of the results. To implement these hypotheses an improvement of the university personnel management is needed. The management of the university personnel, a public institution is more complex and difficult than the management of a company, which products or services have their prices on the market. The paper presented here becomes a contribution to a theory of the management of a public sector institution. This branch of knowledge needs further development.

Opis:
The quality of education in higher education concerns both the process of education and higher education as a good produced as a result of education processes. In the last several dozen years, the quality of education has become a major issue dealt with as part of public policy in the area of higher education both in the dimension of particular countries participating in the Bologna Process, and in the European Higher Education Area. As a result, social sciences have shown more interest in education processes in higher education, with managing the quality of education becoming one of the ideas central to the matter. Studies into the quality of education are conducted nowadays by representatives of many social sciences, adopting many different research approaches. The research approach proposed in this article refers to the organisational game concept and draws on the assumptions and the notional apparatus of the so-called decision-making approach as regards making public decisions. A particular assumption that has been made is that the activity of entities involved in the process of education and performing different roles therein (public authorities, higher education institutions and their associations, accreditation agencies and other institutions assessing the quality of higher education, the so-called stakeholders of higher education institutions) can be described and explained as decisions of players playing multiplayer and multilevel games for the organisation of education processes and for higher education. Games for education processes and for higher education are currently played not only in the hierarchical structure of the state, but also in a broader organisational perspective, which is the European Higher Education Area. Managing the quality of education in this area is not controlled top-down, and involves mainly arranging some binding and guiding institutional solutions which are to lead to an increased competitiveness of education processes and higher education offered by European higher education institutions.

Opis:
For more than ten years, the European direction of higher education transformation is outlined by the Bologna Process. The main purpose of the research was to find out about students’ opinions concerning fulfilling of the Process’ guidelines. In order to carry out the research, an auditorium questionnaire method was chosen. Thanks to the given research sample, it was possible to have a representative group of students varying in terms of universities (Polish Naval Academy (AMW), Medical University of Gdańsk (GUMED)), specificity of studies (full-time, extramural), degree (BA, MA), department (nursing, midwifery, national security, internal domestic security, pedagogy). A total number of respondents was 598. An obtained research material constitutes a source of information helping to asset students’ readiness and openness towards the proposed system transformations. Among the following instruments of the Bologna Process: a multi-staged studies’ mode, ECTS points, a diploma supplement, students’ mobility and the activity of Accreditation Commission, the positive opinions concerned students’ mobility, the activity of Accreditation Commission and multi-staged studies’ mode mostly. According to the statistics, the Polish Naval Academy students formulate opinions that multi-staged studies prolong the process of education and are the source of extra responsibilities (connected with BA writing and defense). GUMED’s students are positive about ECTS points and diploma supplements. Looking at the statistics, women are visibly more positive about students’ mobility and exchange as they allow to get to know and understand different cultures, whereas men put on emphasis on an unclear criteria of giving ECTS points. The obtained research material was analyzed using a statistics package SPSS 20 and a Microsoft Excel 2010 spread sheet.
