Opis:
Among the numerous modern, high-efficiency energy technologies allowing for the conversion of chemical energy of coal into electricity and heat, the Direct Carbon Fuel Cells (DCFC) deserve special attention. These are devices that allow, as the only one among all types of fuel cells, to directly convert the chemical energy contained in solid fuel (coal) into electricity. In addition, they are characterized by high efficiency and low emission of pollutants. The paper reviews and discusses previous research and development works, both around the world and in Poland, into the technology of direct carbon fuel cells with an alkaline (hydroxide) electrolyte.
Wśród wielu nowoczesnych, wysokosprawnych technologii energetycznych pozwalających na przetwarzanie energii chemicznej węgla w energię elektryczną i ciepło na szczególną uwagę zasługują węglowe ogniwa paliwowe (ang. Direct Carbon Fuel Cells – DCFC).

Opis:
A new method using non-salt roasting-alkaline leaching to treat vanadium slag was proposed in this study. The V(III) in vanadium slag is oxidized to V(V) by roasting and the latter can be effectively leached out as vanadate by alkaline leaching. This method possesses distinct advantage of being able to treat high-grade vanadium slag. For the South Africa high-grade vanadium slag, the maximum vanadium recovery of 98% was achieved when the reaction conditions were roasting temperature of 850 °C, roasting time of 2 h, alkali concentration of 30 wt.%, leaching temperature of 210 °C, and leaching time of 2 h. The roasting and leaching mechanisms have been well elucidated based on the XRD and SEM analysis results. The phases transitions of vanadium slag were clearly presented. This work has laid the foundation for the industrial application of non-salt roasting-alkaline leaching and provided new insights into effective extraction of high-grade vanadium slag.

Opis:
Biostratigraphic investigations of carbonate strata that sandwich volcanic rocks and studies of the volcanic rocks were made along five composite lithological sections across the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous carbonate rocks of autochthonous cover of the High-Tatric Unit in the Osobitá peak area of the Western Tatra Mts. A carbonate microbreccia that consists almost exclusively of limestone clasts containing calpionellids occurs immediately below the volcanics. The youngest identified microfossil Calpionella elliptica Cadisch in the individual limestone clasts showed the age of breccia formation to be younger than late Early-early Middle Berriasian. The volcanic rocks are overlain by the Osobitá Limestone Formation, which in the lowermost horizons consists of a few metres thick crinoidal limestone containing the foraminifers Meandrospira favrei (Charollais, Brönnimann & Zaninetti), Sabaudia minuta Hofker and Montsalevia salevensis (Charollais, Brönnimann & Zaninetti) indicating a Late Valanginian-Early Hauterivian age. The biostratigraphical and sedimentological data obtained show that volcanism took place in several phases. Less intense phases of volcanism are recorded as thin tuffitic laminae within the upper parts of the Tithonian-early Mid Berriasian Sobótka Limestone Member and as fragments of volcanic rock in the carbonate breccia. The main phase(s) of volcanism took place during the Late Berriasian-?Early Valanginian.

Opis:
In this research, the high arsenic content dust of copper smelting, as a raw material, the extraction of copper and arsenic from the high arsenic content dust in the leaching system containing acidic and alkaline compounds was investigated. Meanwhile, the effects of acid/alkaline initial concentration, liquid to solid ratio, leaching temperature, leaching time on the leaching rate of copper and arsenic were studied. The optimum conditions for the leaching of high arsenic content dust and preparation of copper arsenate were determined. The results showed that acidic/alkaline leaching of high arsenic content dust was particularly effective. 93.2% of the copper, and 91.6% of the arsenic were leached in an acidic leaching process and 95% of the arsenic, while less than 3% of the copper, less than 5% of the antimony, less than 2% of the bismuth was also leached in an alkaline leaching process. A new method (the parallel flow drop precipitate method) was developed in the synthesis of copper arsenate process. The parallel flow drop method was employed to adjust the molar ratio (copper to arsenic) of the mixed solution of the acid-leaching solution and the alkali-leaching solution by taking the drop acceleration of an acidic leaching solution and an alkaline leaching solution at 10 mL/min and 12 mL/min, at a temperature of 60°C and a reaction time of 1h. Copper arsenate was prepared by mixing an acidic leaching solution and an alkaline leaching solution. The main phases of copper arsenate were CuHAsO4·1.5H2O and Cu5As4O15·9H2O. Copper arsenate contained 30.13% copper and 31.10% arsenic.

Opis:
The monomineral flotation test and microcalorimetry were used to study the flotation kinetics and thermodynamic behavior of chalcopyrite and pyrite in high alkaline systems of lime and NaOH. The results showed that in these systems there were less hydrophilic substances on the chalcopyrite surface, so that the apparent activation energy of sodium butyl xanthate (SBX) adsorption on chalcopyrite surface was low. This promoted the adsorption of SBX and increased the flotation rate and recovery of chalcopyrite. In contrast, the hydrophilic Fe(OH)3 and SO42- formed by oxidation on the pyrite surface increased the adsorption activation energy of SBX. Thus, the flotation rate and recovery of pyrite were lower. Moreover, in the lime high alkaline system, the hydrophilic calcium film generated on the pyrite surface further hindered the adsorption of SBX, thereby further inhibiting pyrite in this environment. In other words, the lime high alkaline environment increased the apparent activation energy difference of SBX adsorption between chalcopyrite and pyrite compared to the NaOH system, facilitating the flotation separation of chalcopyrite and pyrite. The results can help with the theoretical research of flotation separation of other minerals, and provide guidance for developing low alkaline and lime-free pyrite depressants.
