Opis:
The paper describes a research on assessing the quality of edges resulting from the interaction of laser pulses with a material of rigid and flexible printed circuits. A modern Nd:YVO4 crystal diode-pumped solid-state laser generating a 532 nm wavelength radiation with a nanosecond pulse time was used for the research. Influence of laser parameters such as beam power and pulse repetition frequency on a heat affected zone and carbonization was investigated. Quality and morphology of laser-cut substrates were analyzed by optical microscopy. High quality laser cutting of printed circuit board substrates was obtained without delamination and surface damage, with a minimal carbonization and heat affected zone. The developed process was implemented on the printed circuit assembly line.

Opis:
The coarse-grained heat-affected zone specimens of X80 pipeline steel were produced by welding thermal simulation under different heat inputs of 10, 30, and 55 kJ/cm to study the effects of heat input on microstructure evolution and corrosion characterization. The corrosion resistance of coarse-grained heat-affected zones was poorer than that of base metal due to less homogenous in the former. For 10 kJ/cm coarse-grained heat-affected zone, the corrosion resistance was poorer than the others due to the more adsorption hydrogen around the needle-like martensite/austenite constituents and greater galvanic driving force between the needle-like martensite/austenite constituents and ferrite. In carbonate/bicarbonate solution, better corrosion resistance for coarse-grained heat-affected zones was obtained when the heat input is 30 kJ/cm, which can be attributed to the severe coarse martensite/austenite constituents for 55 kJ/cm coarse-grained heat-affected zone. In the H2S environment, the better corrosion resistance for coarse-grained heat-affected zone was obtained when the heat input is 55 kJ/cm, which can be attributed to the protective effect of corrosion products. In addition, the high content of M/A constituents for 30 kJ/cm CGHAZ was good for hydrogen adsorption, which was adverse to the corrosion resistance in acid environments.

Opis:
Currently the welding as a technological process is concerned with special processes, the results of which cannot be checked in a complete degree by subsequent control, test of production what finally causes uncertainty of work of welded constructions. The process of welding is related to the local change of the internal energy of welded system and that leads to the local change of state of material expressing by change of microstructure and mechanical properties. This phenomena decide on the assessment of susceptibility of materials under defined welding condition and estimate of the weldability. It is compound relation and the mechanical behaviour of welded joints is sensitive to the close coupling between modules: heat transfer, microstructure evolution an mechanical fields. Welding process in physical meaning it is jointed with three laws govern mass and heat flow the laws of conservation of: mass, momentum and energy. The knowledge of the run of thermo-dynamical process under welding indicates on the possibility of active modelling and control of welding process with use intensive and extensive parameters. As the weld metal cools in the temperature range 2300 to 1800°K, the dissolved oxygen and deoxidising elements in liquid steel react to form complex oxide inclusions of 0.1 to 1 žm size range. In the temperature range 1800 to 1600°K, solidification of liquid to . ferrite starts und envelops these oxide inclusions. After . ferrite transforms to austenite in the temperature range 1100 to 500°K, the austenite transforms to different ferrite morphologies such as ferrite: allotriomorphic, Widmanstättena, and acicular. The macro-mechanical heterogeneity of welded structures is one of their primary features. The heterogeneous nature of the weld joints is characterised by macroscopic dissimilarity in mechanical properties. Numerical weldability analysis is a new powerful research and development tool which is useful for metallurgistics technologist and design engineers. Saying strictly the numerical analysis of weldability comprises thermodynamic, thermomechanical and microstructural modelling of the welding process. The result of this analysis is material susceptibility (SU). The fracture resistance of welded joints is mainly characterised by normalised parameters: SU1 = KIth / KIC for cold cracking or in the exploitation condition by SU2 = ./.C or J/JC, SU1 . SU2. From above-mentioned equations result that does not exist one global parameter which defines the step of susceptibility SU of base materials has been also executed with use of SINTAP program.

This part is continuation of PART I. The basis of this analytic solution are the Fourier - Kirchhoff partial differential equation with appropriated boundary conditions. For a plate with optional thickness, the radiative heat transfer on both surfaces is taken into account. It is assumed that moving C-I-N or D-E heat sources during a very short period of time, generate an impulse of energy inducing an instantaneous thermal field in the plate area and the analytic solution is received by used Fourier transformation. These fields are being continuously summed up to obtain resultant thermal field ... . Finally, the temperature fields generated by C-I-N and D-E heat sources in both stationary and moving co-ordinates systems are established.

The paper presents the feasibility the prediction of phase structures of the medium carbon S355 steel under the transformations running in welding process by using analytical methods. The relationships proposed here allow to specify start and finish temperatures of phase transformations in the case of formation of bainite, ferrite, pearlite and martensite structures at various cooling rates v8/5 (t8/5) as well. Continuous-Cooling-Transformation (CCT) diagram and volumetric fractions of each steel phases possible to occur are determined in function of cooling rates. Analytically obtained values are compared with results obtained by dilatometric research. Correctness of applied analytical methods in this field has been verified when the structure compositions formed in the heat affected zone (HAZ) of electric arc butt-welded sheets made of the S355 steel were predicted.

The process of welding has dynamic character and is related with the local change of the internal energy E of welded system and can be defined by general dependence between intensive .j and extensive .j parameters. The knowledge of the run of thermo-dynamical process under welding indicates on the possibility of active modelling of weldability and the control of welding process: .j = .E/..j. Hence, these process can be enhanced by mathematical modelling and numerical analysis of weldability models of, i.e. welding processes of material behaviour in welding and the strength of welded structures. The main attention is focused on the assessment of susceptibility of materials under defined welding conditions using fracture mechanics parameters. The analysis is based on the normalised parameters such as: ./.c, KIth/KIC, as a measure of the susceptibility of materials in welding process. The deformation process and fracture parameters calibrations are influenced by constraint; hence the importance of determining the deformation behaviour and fracture parameters as a function of constraint. Furthermore, there established analytically the condition of welding process in mismatched weld joints for strength equal to base metal. Finally, same analytical examples which present new capabilities of weldability estimates and mechanical properties of mismatched weld joints are presented.

This research is focused on the analysis of heat-affected sub-zones in 2 mm thick steel S960MC samples, with the aim of observing and evaluating the mechanical properties after exposure to temperatures corresponding to individual heat-affected sub-zones. Test samples were prepared using a Gleeble 3500 thermo-mechanical simulator. The samples were heated in the range from 550°C to 1350°C and were subsequently quickly cooled. The specimens, together with the base material, were then subjected to tensile testing, impact testing, and micro-hardness measurements in the sample cross-section, as well as evaluation of their microstructure. Fracture surfaces are investigated in samples after impact testing. The heat-affected sub-zones studied indicate high sensitivity to the thermal input of welding. There is a significant decrease in tensile strength and yield strength at temperatures around 550°C.

Opis:
The paper compares forms and dimensions of heat affected zones determined on the basis of analytical descriptions of temperature fields caused by different models of heat source. In the first case, a single-distributed volumetric heat source model reflecting only the impact of an electric arc was assumed. In further considerations, bimodal heat source models were applied. The first one consists of a volumetric heat source model of weld reinforcement (of melted electrode material) and a surface model of an electric arc. In the second one a bimodal source is the sum of volumetric heat source models of weld reinforcement and an electric arc. Calculations are based on the example of submerged arc welding of a rectangular S355 steel element. The results of numerical simulations were verified experimentally, confirming the argument that it is necessary to include the bimodal heat source in temperature field modelling, which takes into account the temperature rises caused by the heat of melted electrode material.

Opis:
A simplified analytical method to determine the range of the heat affected zone and its components during welding is presented. Heat affected zone (HAZ) is an area formed during welding in which, as the result of temperature, some structural changes in the welded material occured. Knowledge of the area and sub-areas of HA Z is important from practical point of view, since the area of the fine-grained HAZ is a critical place in terms of creep strength and thermal fatigue. Heat affected zone is often the cause of future damage of many devices in which welding technology was used for their repair.
Przedstawiono uproszczoną analityczną metodę służącą do określenia zakresu wpływu strefy ciepła i zakresów jej stref składowych podczas spawania. Obszar (strefa) wpływu ciepła (HA Z) to obszar, w którym podczas procesu spawania w wyniku działania wysokiej temperatury zaszły strukturalne zmiany w spawanym materiale.

Steels of the ARMOX class belong into a group of the fine-grained, increased strength steels, which are manufactured by the quenching and low tempering procedure, with intensive thermo-mechanical treatment at high temperatures. Combination of the heat and mechanical treatments provides for the fine grains and exceptionally good properties of these steels, while the low-tempering enables relatively high hardness and good ballistic properties. This is why the welding of these steels can negatively affect the material properties in individual zones of the welded joint, what could lead to worsening of the material's ballistic properties, as well. The model plates were welded with the specially prescribed technology; the joints were the but-joint, corner joint and the joint with the shielding plate. In this paper are presented results obtained from the ballistic tests of the plates welded by the prescribed technology; tests consisted of shooting with three types of live ammunition at different types of the welded joints.

This article deals with the technology and principles of the laser cutting of ductile cast iron. The properties of the CO2 laser beam, input parameters of the laser cutting, assist gases, the interaction of cut material and the stability of cutting process are described. The commonly used material (nodular cast iron - share of about 25% of all castings on the market) and the method of the laser cutting of that material, including the technological parameters that influence the cutting edge, are characterized. Next, the application and use of this method in mechanical engineering practice is described, focusing on fixing and renovation of mechanical components such as removing the inflow gate from castings with the desired quality of the cut, without the further using of the chip machining technology. Experimental samples from the nodular cast iron were created by using different technological parameters of laser cutting. The heat affected zone (HAZ), its width, microstructure and roughness parameter Pt was monitored on the experimental samples (of thickness t = 13 mm). The technological parameters that were varied during the experiments included the type of assist gases (N2 and O2), to be more specific the ratio of gases, and the cutting speed, which ranged from 1.6 m/min to 0.32 m/min. Both parameters were changed until the desired properties were achieved.

In the analyzed joints, the research focused on their mechanical properties and changes in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) that occur in this type of steels. The hardness and tensile strength tests carried out showed a significant decrease in the properties of the joint compared to the declared values of the base material and the filler material used in the tests. In the case of hardness, it was a decrease of 34% in HAZ and by 15-21% in relation to the strength limit. Changes in HAZ properties of a joint correlate with changes in its structure.

Laser welding tests of 2 mm thick thermomechanically rolled sheets were carried out using keyhole welding and a solid-state laser. The results of laser welding in the air atmosphere for the heat input value of 0.048 kJ/mm are included. The distribution, type and chemical composition of non-metallic inclusions formed in the base metal, heat-affected zone, and fusion zone are analysed in detail. It was found that the base metal contains rare, fine oxysulphides. Their chemical composition was modified by rare earth elements. Numerous oxide inclusions of a various size and a chemical composition occur in the fusion zone. The dependence between a size of particles and their chemical composition was observed. A microstructure of steel was assessed using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy techniques.
Praca dotyczy badań wtrąceń niemetalicznych występujących w przetapianej laserowo stali TRIP typu Si-Al zawierającej mikrododatki Nb i Ti. Próby spawania laserowego odwalcowanych termomechanicznie taśm o grubości 2 mm przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem lasera na ciele stałym i techniki głębokiego przetopienia. Przedstawiono wyniki przetapiania laserowego próbek z energią liniową 0.048 kJ/mm w atmosferze powietrza. Szczegółowej analizie poddano rozkład, rodzaj i skład chemiczny wtrąceń niemetalicznych tworzących się w materiale rodzimym, strefie wpływu ciepła i strefie przetopionej. Mikrostrukturę stali określono z wykorzystaniem mikroskopii świetlnej i skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej.

Opis:
The steel substrate was cut by means of different methods, like water jet, laser or oxyacetylene blowpipe. So, some different surfaces (after cutting / without cutting) were subjected to the (Zn) - hot dip galvanizing. The galvanizing process was performed in industrial conditions by applying the constant temperature equal to 457°C, and a dipping time equal to 150 s. The (Zn) - coating morphologies and sub-layer thicknesses were analyzed to explain some expected differences in the coatings formation.
