Opis:
The paper presents numerical analysis of harmonically excited vibration of a cable-stayed footbridge caused by a load function simulating crouching (squats) while changing the static tension in chosen cables. The intentional synchronized motion (e.g., squats) of a single person or group of persons on the footbridge with a frequency close to the natural frequency of the structure may lead to the resonant vibrations with large amplitudes. The appropriate tension changes in some cables cause detuning of resonance on account of stiffness changes of structures and hence detuning in the natural frequency that is close to the excitation frequency. The research was carried out on a 3D computer model of a real structure – a cable-stayed steel footbridge in Leśnica, a quarter of Wrocław, Poland, with the help of standard computer software based on FEM COSMOS/M System.

Opis:
The purpose of this teoretical work is to present a general model of the response of an annular plate to the excitation by an annular actuator made of piezoelectric elements. The plate is clamped at the inner edge and free at the outer edge. Dynamic equations, joint conditions between sections with and without active layers as well as the boundary conditions at the two edges of the plate form a boundary value problem. The dynamic displacement response to the to the excitation by the applied harmonic voltage term are determined from the solution to this boundary value problem. The dynamic extensional strain on the plate surface is calculated by including the free stress conditions at the piezoelectric actuator boundaries, by considering the dynamic coupling between the actuator and the plate, and by taking into account a finite bonding layer with finite stiffness. Results from numerical simulation show influence of the bonding layer stiffness on the frequency- and space-dependent plate response.

Opis:
As part of an ongoing study into hydropower runner failure, a submerged, vibrating blade is investigated both experimentally and numerically. The numerical simulations performed are fully coupled acoustic-structural simulations in ANSYS Mechanical. In order to speed up the simulations, a model order reduction technique based on Krylov subspaces is implemented. This paper presents a comparison between the full ANSYS harmonic response and the reduced order model, and shows excellent agreement. The speedup factor obtained by using the reduced order model is shown to be between one and two orders of magnitude. The number of dimensions in the reduced subspace needed for accurate results is investigated, and confirms what is found in other studies on similar model order reduction applications. In addition, experimental results are available for validation, and show good match when not too far from the resonance peak.

Opis:
This study was designed to determine the vibroactivity parameters of a hermetic harmonic drive. A specially-prepared test bench was used to measure the normal velocity of vibrations and acoustic pressure generated by the unit. Piezoelectric sensors were applied to measure the characteristic values on the body of the prototype. In selected sections of drive, we determined the effective values of acceleration ae and frequency f. For the same points, the effective values of vibration velocity Vc were determined for the corresponding frequencies. The findings presented in this paper enable the assessment of a toothed gear in terms of the quality of its workmanship and wear-related deterioration, which are very important due to the characteristic work of this special drive.

In our department, we deal with various methods for the continuous tuning of torsional oscillating mechanical systems during their operation, mainly in terms of torsional vibration magnitude. Therefore, in order to carry out necessary experimental research, we need torsional oscillation exciters, which operate on various principles. The objective of this paper is to conduct a harmonic analysis of a torsional oscillation force excitation mechanism, in order to identify the possibilities of its application.

Opis:
The FEM model of a violin resonance body presented in the article has been developed in order to simulate various issues in the field of violin dynamics and vibro-acoustics. All violin parts participating in the vibrations of the resonance body (solid and shell parts) are included in the model. Material properties and material orientation (anisotropy) of wood species used to make the violin parts have been taken into account in the model. Properties of spruce have been applied to the top plate (with f-holes) and solid parts. Properties of maple have been applied to the back plate, ribs and bridge. Two basic problems were considered: simulation and analysis of violin body vibrations in the cases of natural vibrations (*Frequency) and forced vibrations - excided by strings (*Steady-state dynamics). The results of simulations have been described and illustrated.

Opis:
Purpose: The present paper is intended to investigate the problem of linear and non-linear longitudinal free vibration of uniform rods and rods whose cross-sections vary exponentially at large vibration amplitudes. Design/methodology/approach: The method adopted consists in discretizing the energy term on linear kij and non-linear rigidity tensor bijkl, as well as the mass tensor mij. Therefore, the formulation of this structure is based on Lagrange equations and the harmonic balance method so as to obtain the nonlinear algebraic equations. These latter are solved numerically and analytically through the explicit and linearized method. Findings: The response of Clamped-Clamped uniform and non-uniform rods on our structure are highlighted in the amplitude frequency and associated first three mode shapes. Moreover, this research leads to study the influence of the exponential slope on the maximum displacement, thus emphasizing the non-uniform bars usefulness. The obtained results are then compared with the available literature with a view to validating this theory. Research limitations/implications: As a perspective, the method used in this paper would be pushed to study the FDM material, taking into account other parameters related to additive manufacturing, and later to be validated experimentally. Practical implications: Longitudinal vibrations are important in mechanical structures; therefore, the determination of their dynamic behaviour needs to be understood. In the present study, the effect of the displacement amplitude on the exponential slope of the structure was analysed, which led to the determination of the reduction range of the vibration amplitude under resonance. However, this should be taken into account in the design process. Besides, the usefulness of the non-linearity geometric effects was demonstrated to examine these structures by considering all the parameters involved. Originality/value: A linearized procedure is used to solve a nonlinear algebra equation. The use of this method leads to reduce calculation time contrary to iterative methods.
