Opis:
Geophysical prospection and small-scale archaeological excavation were undertaken on the site of Kaštelina, a Late Iron Age hillfort settlement located on the Stolac promontory in the eastern part of Rab island (Kvarner Gulf, Croatia). Within the frame of the “Archaeological topography of the island of Rab” program, a Polish–Croatian team applied a series of multidisciplinary methods to study the occupational history of the site, its preservation, the nature of selected site features and future research potential. Ground-penetrating radar and magnetometer surveys, combined with the implementation of the Amplitude Data Comparison (ADC) method, led to the detection of remains of Late Iron Age building structures distributed over the northwestern side of the Stolac promontory. Archaeological excavations verifying the findings of the geophysical survey resulted in the discovery of a dwelling with associated outdoor features. A preliminary assessment of the outcome of a multidisciplinary approach to the study of the site of Kaštelina emphasizes the importance of the collected data for a general understanding of Late Iron Age settlements and their internal organisation in a wider context.

Opis:
W trakcie realizacji dwukondygnacyjny budynek mieszkalny uległ wychyleniu z pionu wskutek nierównomiernego osiadania fundamentu. Podobne przypadki występują często, gdy obiekty są posadowione na uwarstwionym, słabym podłożu z nachylonym stropem warstwy nośnej. Przeanalizowano i wyjaśniono przyczyny awarii i podano sposoby zabezpieczenia budynku.
During construction, a two-storey residential building came to deviate from vertical as a result of non-uniform subsidence of the foundation. Similar cases occur frequently when structures are built on a weak, layered base with inclination of the roof of the supporting layer. The reasons for the problem are analysed and explained, and methods of securing the building are described.

Opis:
Accurately estimating the volume of earthworks is very important in mining engineering and construction. This estimation can be difficult because of the morphological condition of the stockpiles, hence, devising simpler, yet accurate methods of stockpile volume estimation is still a research problem in mining. Two non-invasive survey methods were compared in this research: the conventional ground-based and UAV-approach, for the survey of a twin-stockpile of gravel using Leica TS06 Total Station and DJI Mavic Air UAV, respectively. About 128 images of the area were acquired at 50 m flying height and 75% overlap during the flight mission. The images were processed using Agisoft Metashape Pro; a digital photogrammetric software, and the DEM obtained was used for the volume estimation. The total station data was also processed in ArcGIS to generate a TIN-model from which the volume was also estimated. The volume estimated from the TIN-model was compared with the volume estimated from the UAV-based DEM, using the volume obtained from the mill-machine as the standard. The obtained result shows that while 2750 m³ was obtained as the cumulative volume from the mill machine, the UAV approach yielded 2686.252 m³ and the ground survey approach gave 2830.713 m³. The percentage difference between the two methods compared to the actual volume is 2.94% and −2.31%, respectively. These results, and the result of the processing time analysis show that UAV approach is both accurate and time economical, which attests to the potentials of low-cost UAVs to provide robust alternative to the time-consuming and rigorous ground survey approach.

The article presents the possibility of using pictures taken with aerial and ground-based metric measuring cameras in surveying and visualizing architectural objects. The areas of interest include historic and damaged buildings belonging to the farm complex in Mściwojów, in Lower Silesia. To prepare vector architectural drawings, digital photogrammetric station Delta, as well as a digital autograph VSD were used. The digital terrain model was generated on the basis of aerial photographs, and the visualization of the whole village with the body of water in Mściwojów was developed using MicroStation software.
