Opis:
Electromyography (EMG) has been proposed as a method for determining muscle effort in repetitive upper limb tasks, which are often related to cumulative trauma disorders. EMG activity of the finger flexor musculature was investigated during a repetitive hand gripping task having 5 different cycle durations (2 to 6 s), various percentage of work time (and rest) within the work cycle (20% to 80%), and 3 different grip force levels. Thirty healthy adult participants each performed 27 randomly ordered 30-s repetitive hand gripping trials as well as 3 isometric contractions, which were used to normalize data from the hand gripping trials. There was a significant decrease in mean EMG as the duration of the work-rest cycle time increased. At each force level, EMG increased as the percentage of work time within the work-rest cycle increased, but to a greater extent at the highest force level. The results of this study suggest that overall muscle effort, and perhaps muscle fatigue, can be reduced most effectively by modifying the force requirements of the repetitive task. Other variables, such as the percentage of work time within a cycle and overall work cycle time have less effect on the EMG activity level. The results of this study have implications for developing strategies to reduce muscle fatigue during repetitive hand gripping tasks in an effort to reduce the effects of cumulative trauma disorders.

Opis:
W artykule opisano strukturę i zasadę działania układu sterowania i napędu dla zespołu chwytno-pozycjonującego, będącego częścią automatu przeznaczonego do skaryfikacji i oceny zdrowotności żołędzi.
In paper the new gripping-positioning unit driver control in an automaton scarifying oak seeds is described and discussed. Such automaton was designed by specialists form Agricultural University in Krakow with engineers from AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and PIMR in Poznan. Discussed in presented paper part of scarifying automaton (the gripping-positioning unit with drivers and automatic control) was built in two factories: OPTISTER from Krakow and PROMAR from Poznan. Whole automaton is dedicated for increasing number of oak seeds by means of eliminating form sowing process acorns which are damaged in any form. This automatic selection can be very effective and fast, in contrast to manual processing performed up to day. The whole description of design and construction of considered automatom was given in previous publications by authors, listed in bibliography.

Opis:
Functional footwear with different unstable profiles has been widely used to mimic barefoot condition and offload plantar loading for pathological or injury prevention. However, little research investigates the effect of unstable structure on particular foot functions. In this study, a prototype of unstable shoe design with unstable element of different stiffness placed at the hallux (a regionalized rocker) was used. The primary objective was to analyse the biomechanical performance of running with hallux unstable shoes, aiming to potentially stimulate and increase the toe gripping function. Methods: The lower limb kinematics and plantar pressure distribution were measured to comparatively analyse the soft (SS) and hard (SH) unstable shoes with flat control shoes (CS). Results: The SS showed increased big toe and reduced forefoot plantar pressure. The SS led to similar lower limb kinematics to baseline CS except for reduced hip abduction, increased rotation range of motion (ROM), increased peak ankle plantar flexion and ROM. The SH presented significantly altered lower limb kinematics across hip, knee and ankle, and laterally distributed plantar pressure. Conclusions: Unstable shoes with soft material led to reduced medial metatarsal loading by increasing the support area and modified joint kinematics minimally. Unstable shoes with stiffer material presented compensatory kinematic movements across all joints and laterally shifted plantar loading distribution. These findings may provide implications on toe grip function training for foot pressure off-loading.

Opis:
With the rapid development of the marine economy and continuous improvement of the industry, the scale of the offshore engineering is increasing. This raises interest in studying, theoretically and experimentally, gripping and bearing mechanisms for large-scale holding and lifting tools used in foundation pile installations. In this paper, the embedded gripping mechanism is studied based on the theory of elastic-plastic mechanics. The embedded and bearing performance of the tooth is simulated and the influence factors are studied. In addition, the device used in the simplified embedded experiment on the tooth of the embedded block is designed. The relationship between embedded depth, load, and tooth profile angle is identified and validated. Meanwhile, the embedded performance of linear and ring type teeth is compared experimentally in order to select the suitable type of tooth for various situations. This comparison makes the basis for designing an upending gripper for the marine pile foundation, which can realize the operation of holding the pile to prevent its falling.

Opis:
Significant changes in kumite tactics were verified after the 2013 International Judo Federation rule revision, which mandated that competitors initiate sparring immediately at match outset. The research contained in this paper focused on the re-gripping techniques which were affected by this rule revision, relating to the gripping targets, the use of cross gripping techniques, body rotation when executing throws, and the attacking patterns. In total, 372 men’s contests from the Judo Grand Slam Paris 2016 were analyzed using All Japan Judo Federation Science and Research Department SMART Edge system. Throws resulting in scores were identified and the preceding kumite tactics were analyzed. Re-gripping techniques resulted in significantly higher score rates than the no re-gripping techniques when competitors grabbed the place of the competition number, and the place(s) other than the collar and sleeve with at least one hand except the place of the competition number. Re-gripping the opponent and targeting the place of the competition number might facilitate scoring. Using the re-gripping techniques could make a variety of gripping targets effective to score. We emphasize the importance of classifying kumite techniques into two major patterns: re-gripping and no re-gripping techniques when coaching competitors for kumite tactics.

Opis:
The paper treats the reading of a poetic text (Herbert’s Dęby) as an act of opening to what is difficult, inexpressible, yet tiring everyone (including a student) in the simplest examples of everyday existence. It points out the problem of tension (and its consequences) between the urge of being in a familiar world and the feeling of a total and fundamental strangeness of the world, between the desire of gripping the sense in what we experience and everything which denies these attempts. The subject of such reflection may also be the human forms of incompatibility and desperation.
