Opis:
Subject and purpose of work: This study aims to analyse the main elements of the green economic development as a framework for green finance and green investment. The analysis spurs from the underlying notion that green economics is inherently a normative framework and a school of thought development of the neo-classical economic thinking with conceptual assumptions, deficiencies, and contradictions, beginning to set out the roots, aims and philosophical principles. Materials and methods: The methods used are the analytical and descriptive ones based on the critical literature review and an experiential reflective attitude on the key issues concerning the variables of green economic development, green finance, and green investment. Conclusions: It is concluded that the implementation of green economy activities have many obstacles to face. The inadequate funding and the institutional support in collaborations and coordination practices are the most crucial.

Subject and purpose of work: The aim of the study is to present the concept of green economy and other notions and concepts related to it and to assess their significance for the formation of development policy and a practical solution to problems of socio-economic development. Materials and methods: The paper is based on the analysis of documents and literature mainly referring to the concepts of “green economy”, “green growth” and “green deal” in the context of “sustainable development goals”. Results: The paper deals with the reasons for the emergence of the greening of economic processes as a new phenomenon of contemporary development, as well as various definitions of green economy, green growth, the principles of implementing green economy and green transformation processes. The study presents the milestones for the development of the European and global green economy and green growth, and their relationsip to the concept and goals of sustainable development. The review of the concept of green economy and green growth comprises the definitions prepared by specialized agencies of the United Nations UNEP, UNCTAD, UN ESCAP, UN FGG, OECD, the European Union and the World Bank. The main principles proposed by international organizations to be applied in the implementation of the green economy transformation policy are also discussed. Conclusions: The conclusions indicate a wide range of the concepts presented, the ambiguity of their definitions and the need for further research in this area.

Opis:
Green walls, along with green roofs, parks, and vertical gardens, belong to the green infrastructure of cities, which will encompass the majority of humanity in the coming decades. Green infrastructure benefits both urban residents and nature in the urban landscape, although there is no scientific consensus on the extent to which green walls, especially green facades, impact biodiversity in cities. This study examined the influence of green facades on the richness of mammals, birds, and invertebrates, considering the species and age of the plants comprising the green facade in a medium-sized city located in southwestern Poland. It was found that the implementation of green facades significantly enhances species’ biodiversity compared to non-vegetated walls. Four synanthropic bird species were nesting on green facades: Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto), blackbird (Turdus merula), house sparrow (Passer domesticus) and woodpigeon (Columba palumbus). For the beech marten (Martes foina), the green facades are a hunting ground for birds and their eggs. This simple and effective method of creating green walls provides benefits to local wildlife by creating habitats, shelter, and foraging opportunities for selected species. However, it is difficult to determine whether green facades contribute to the formation of ecological corridors in urban environments. The study also examined the social aspect related to the establishment and maintenance of green facades on the surveyed buildings.

The article presents the concept of green budget tagging to estimate the level and structure of green budget expenditures of local government units in Poland. On the basis of the conducted research, it was found that incurring expenditures for environmentally sustainable purposes are also differentiated due to the functions of municipalities. In addition, the amount of green budget expenditures is determined by co-financing from foreign funds. The obtained results form the background to practical application of the concept of green budget tagging for the purposes of, e.g., the implementation of financial policy aimed at achieving climate and sustainable goals by local government units in Poland.

Problems such as environmental pollution, the depletion of the ozone layer, the melting of glaciers due to global warming, the decline in clean resources and the extinction of some species have prompted people to consider the idea of a more sustainable world. In this process, humanity is going through a mental transformation and gaining some awareness. As emphasized in this study, all crises (accidents, fi res, outbreaks, etc.) experienced worldwide have been the driving forces for environmental transformations. Environmentalist movements emerging from this orientation have also found their place in the world of science and therefore in the marketing literature. From this point of view, the aim of this study is to explain the scientifi c publications inspired by the environmental transformations experienced chronologically and to reveal the part that is present in the marketing literature. In this study, it has been shown with which intensity environmental studies have been included in the marketing literature. In addition, it was determined which marketing journals were discussed intensely. This study points to potential academic fi elds of study. Finally, this study emphasizes that while trying to explain green consumer profi les, attention should be paid to macro factors (lifestyle, sociological variables, etc.) in addition to micro factors such as values and norms. National and corporate green policies can be more successful if handled in this context.

Opis:
Research background: The increase in the demand for organic products prompts the establishment of green farms. In spite of the large global interest in green farming, scientific literature is not rich in the studies that cover the issues of green farming development. Although previous studies examine different aspects of green business, the factors that facilitate or impede the development of green farming, especially at the national level, are hardly considered. In order to fill this gap in the scientific literature, we formulate the following problem of the research: what opportunities of green farming development can be envisaged in Lithuania? Purpose of the article: To explore the opportunities of green farming development in Lithuania on the basis of the general features of green business development. Methods: Comparative and systematic analysis of the scientific literature, graphic and comparative data analyses, and expert evaluation. The results of the survey conducted among experts were processed with application of the following statistical methods: Kendall?s coefficient of concordance and Cronbach alpha coefficient. Findings & value added: The research has enabled to identify the factors that facilitate and impede green farming development in Lithuania. On the basis of the results of the expert evaluation, the recommendations for green farming development in Lithuania were provided. It was found that the main barriers that disturb smooth development of green farming in Lithuania mainly include economic and social obstacles. Frequently changing regulations on organic farming, complicated procedures of green farming certification, and lack of information about the sup-port and subsidies call for the development of a consistent green farming monitoring system and conduct of the efficient green market research. Extensive networking systems would provide the opportunities for green farmers to share their experience and observe all the economic changes: new market niches, demand-supply indicators, new channels of product delivery, etc. Non-financial green farming support measures (e.g. consultations, training, provision of information, etc.) could substantially contribute to the development of green farming in Lithuania.

Lean Green is a concept which is implemented as a part of the sustainable development strategy, share allowing for reduction of the company’s costs related to, on the one hand, efficient use of energy factors and on the other optimum use of production factors aimed at minimisation of wastefulness, in particular in the area of post-production waste and pollution. The purpose of the article is to identify the determinants, internal stimuli and to specify the force with which they affect the implementation of the Lean Green concept in companies on various continents: America, Asia and Europe. For the purpose of better recognition of the examined problem, analysis of results of studies was made in consideration of the following criteria: country where a given company operates and share of persons outside the company in the process of implementation of this concept. In article uses the one-way ANOVA methodology, the Shapiro Wilk and Levene tests and the non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test. Hitherto studies have confirmed that the determinants are regional, which indicates the necessity of directional studies.

Now is the time to take our future more seriously and start providing solutions for tomorrow´s world. The new notion or significant specification of the term “BLUE to GREEN” infrastructures in buildings in the modern information age is the expression of the sustainable development of a „smart city“ society and beyond. We introduce our experimental platforms representing different types of green roofs, green and water walls as possible solutions. These experimental sites in the University Campus were created on the basis of researche dealing with green roofs and their retention qualities, as well as green walls and their impact on the microclimate and the possibility of using rain and gray water that could be filtrated through the media of these structures. The paper describes the world-wide conditions on the basis of which this issue is up to date and addressed. The outputs from the individual measurements will be related to water cycle issues, green walls and roofs constructions.

Opis:
The struggle against climate change and the increasing implementation of sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards have contributed to the dynamic development of green finance. Green bonds have become one of the key tools of green finance. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive study related to the development and barriers of the green bonds market in Poland. A literature review, comparative analysis, and financial data were used in this research. The publication uses data from the Climate Bonds Initiative and includes global data on the development of the green bond market. The research was also enhanced by data from the Polish Ministry of Finance. Green bonds are an increasingly popular financing tool for renewable energy, zero-emission transport, or green buildings. The biggest advantages of green bonds are compliance with ESG standards, hedging of climate risk, and reputational benefits. Disadvantages include significant transaction costs, lack of uniform standardisation, or the risk of greenwashing – particularly when issuing sustainability-linked bonds. The development of green bonds in Poland faces barriers related to the lack of green projects. The development of municipal green bonds in Poland is clearly hampered by high transaction costs and the lack of clear economic benefits for issuers. Green bonds are not an instrument to finance all environmental investments, hence their implementation is limited; however, they are playing an increasingly important role in the transition towards sustainability.

Differentiation strategies are the most preferred strategies when it comes to surviving in a highly competitive environment. And the debate as to whether using sustainability for strategic positioning, e.g differentiation, is still a hot topic in literature. To that end, we investigated if green certification of 17 Turkish ports have been used with similar purpose. In this context, this study aims to find out whether the certification attempts of "green ports" in ports that are strategic nodes of global supply chains are strategically justified or just an action to catch up with other competitors. Drawing on qualitative analyses, a green port corpus content has been prepared. This corpus is comprised of 17 green certificated port CEOs’ interviews and their website contents. The results indicate that the Turkish ports generally carry out practices that follow the trends in the world, but they mostly implement them to imitate rather than being strategic.

Research background: Economic growth is unsustainable. However, a circular economy has the potential to lead to sustainable development, while decoupling economic growth from the negative consequences of resource depletion and environmental degradation. The EU's strategy of climate neutralization in 2050 developed, inter alia, into a European Green Deal action plan aiming at the efficient use of resources by moving to a cleaner, circular economy. More sustainable EU food system is a cornerstone of the European Green Deal. The European Commission's goal is 25% of agricultural land to be used for organic production in 2030. The question is if it is possible to reach the objective with the use of current incentives. What else may be done to encourage European farmers to convert to organic farming? Purpose of the article: The aim of this research is to review the development of organic agriculture in Europe and the EU and to identify incentives for farmers to convert to organic farming. Methods: First of all, the methodological approach is to iteratively review the existing literature to frame the problem. Secondly, the data on organic agriculture in Europe is to be analyzed to answer the research questions. The analysis is based on international statistics, mainly collected by FiBL, IFOAM, EC Agri-food data portal and Eurostat..Fitting the trend functions to the actual data has been made in three scenarios (pessimistic, realistic and optimistic). These trend functions were used for the long-term forecasts of the share of organic farmland in the EU. Findings & value added: The long-run forecast might be treated as a goal, which can motivate to act more intensively to achieve the objective. The existing measures, including organic farming payments, are not sufficient to meet the goal of massive increase in the acreage under organic production. It is necessary to develop new incentives e.g. Green Public Procurement, innovative and effective media campaigns, development of a dynamic network of actors within the organic food supply chain with the use of blockchain technology.
