    Grandparents have always been the backbone of every family. Thanks to them the knowledge is passed on, values are shaped and traditions nurtured. They are a treasury of knowledge to which all family members reach. They are the people who will be happy to help, take care of, educate, explain and listen to. The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren is very important, as they often spend a lot of time together and learn from each other. Due to the importance of the topic, a decision to learn more about the relationship between contemporary grandchildren and their grandparents was made. The scientific aim of the article is to learn about the relationships that exist between the studied students and their grandparents. Searching for an answer to the question posed, a research technique in the form of interviews with children was used. As a result of own research, it was shown that the surveyed students have very good relations with their grandparents, speak about them with great respect, and grandparents are a role model for them. The obtained results emphasize the extraordinary role of grandparents in the grandchildren’s lives, which is the basis for further studies on a larger scale, taking into account the perspective of grandparents and the demographic data of the surveyed families, which would enable the identification of mutual dependencies.

    Exemplified by the selected prose of Russian writers of 20th and 21th centuries, the author analyses the issue of youthfulness and old age, commencing with the so-cold youth prose (V. Aksyonov, A. Kuznetsov, A. Gladilin) and rural prose (V. Raspu-tin, V. Astafyev). The issue also captures the interest of contemporary writers, including A. Yermakova, I. Mamaeva and Z. Prilepin. In their prose, protagonists, who belong both to the young and old generation, find it difficult to adjust to the reality after the Soviet Union collapse, which aggravates social contrast and eliminates those weak and helpless. Elderly people are most frequently made to live alone, struggling with their financial situation. The young generation, uneducated and unassertive, also find it difficult to live their life in dignity. Based on the analyses carried out, the author comes to the conclusion that it is impossible to create an unambiguous image of relation between the young and old generation since these relations are dependent not on social-political transformations, but on the human’s axiological system.

    The article presents the relationship between temporal perspective and wisdom transmission of the people in late adulthood to the younger generation. The participants were asked to write a short “Letter to a grandchild”. The letters written by 119 participants aged over 60 years old were analyzed qualititavely in terms of content and form, using categories from previous studies (Dryll, Tokarska, Cierpka, 2016). In order to assess temporal perspective the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) by Philip G. Zimbardo and John Boyd was used (adaptation by Aneta Przepiórka, Małgorzata Sobol-Kwapińska and Tomasz Jankowski, 2016). A number of dependencies between transmission characteristics and temporal perspective scales was observed. The results follow a characteristic pattern where instead of the focus on timing (past, present, and future), an attitude (positive or negative) seems to be more important. The results do not support the concept of a balanced temporal perspective, which can be explained by cultural differences as well as developmental characteristics of the participants.

    W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badania związków perspektywy czasowej i przesłania mądrościowego adresowanego do młodego pokolenia przez osoby w okresie późnej dorosłości. Uczestnicy badania formułowali swój przekaz w postaci krótkiej pisemnej narracji – „Listu do wnuka”. „Listy” napisane przez 119 osób powyżej 60. roku życia analizowano jakościowo zarówno pod względem treści, jak i formy, z zastosowaniem kategorii wykorzystywanych we wcześniejszych badaniach (Dryll, Tokarska, Cierpka, 2016). Do diagnozy perspektywy temporalnej zastosowano Kwestionariusz ZTPI autorstwa Philipa G. Zimbardo i Johna Boyda w adaptacji Anety Przepiórki, Małgorzaty Sobol-Kwapińskiej i Tomasza Jankowskiego (2016). Stwierdzono liczne zależności pomiędzy cechami przekazu a skalami badającymi perspektywy temporalne. Wyniki układają się w charakterystyczny wzór, w którym jednak na pierwszy plan, zamiast samej koncentracji na czasie (przeszłym, teraźniejszym, przyszłym) wysuwa się ustosunkowanie do zdarzeń (pozytywne bądź negatywne) niezależnie od tego, kiedy one nastąpiły. Uzyskane wyniki nie potwierdzają koncepcji zrównoważonej perspektywy temporalnej. Można to tłumaczyć zarówno różnicami kulturowymi, jak i właściwościami rozwojowymi badanej grupy osób.
