Opis:
A new method of physicochemical blocking deflation of movable sands has been developed that represents their fixation in a wet state with binders. It is proposed to carry out sand-fixing works during rainy periods or after preliminary moistening of the sandy surface in order to intensify and reduce the cost of sand-fixing works. The substantiation is carried out on the example of some of the approved and recommended binders based on the express method of studying the possibility of their application to obtain a polymer sandy protective crust on wet sand. The emerging defensive hull is characterized by resistance to wind-sand stream and evaluated by plastic quality and thickness. The impregnation of damp sand with a smaller sum of cover than dry sand is related to an alteration within the nature of impregnation from gravity to capillary. With a decrease in the specific surface of the bulk material and an increase in the pore space, gravitational forces are predominant. The process of wet sand impregnation is associated with the acceleration of the adsorption of the dispersed phase and a reduction in the hole covered due to the partial occupation of the interpore space with water. As a result, in wet sand, the depth of sand impregnation with the binder increases at a lower consumption per unit volume of sand. The following has been established: the possibility of impregnation of approved and recommended binders into wet sand, the inverse dependence of the binder concentration in emulsion forms on the humidity of the sandy surface, the time of application of various binders after moistening the sand and the possible savings of binders.

Opis:
Natural chemical compounds and their derivatives could be used for designing new classes of anticancer, antifungal or antiviral drugs. One of those compounds is gossypol, isolated from grains of wool. Gossypol’s derivatives can freely penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This basic review considers synthesis and reduction of prochiral imines. Gossypol derivatives belong to imines. Imines as unstable compounds, hydrolyze in contact with a small amount of water. There are substrates for preparation of oximes and its derivatives. In this article three methods of imines production are presented. There are: (a) reaction of aldehyde or ketones with primary amine, (b) addition of Grignard reagents to nitriles and (c) pyrolysis of alkyl azide. The first one is discussed in details with specific description of the mechanism of both steps: first stage - addition to form a hemiaminal, second one – dehydration with formation of imine. Many conditions such as acid power, value of pH reaction and environment (preferably anhydrous) have influence on the formation rate of imines and determine each of two stages, i.e. addition and dehydration. Furthermore, the imines-enamines tautomeric and stereochemical aspects with possible attack of nucleophile molecules to the carbon atom of the C=N bond from the Si or Re side of prochiral imines as well as potential ways of imines reductions to amines by using commonly used reducers (NaCNBH3) are discussed. Moreover, two new methods of reduction are presented: the first – with using trichlor acids catalyzed chiral Lewis’s bases and the second one – asymmetric hydrogenation of imines.

Opis:
Gossypol is polyphenolic aldehyde, a toxic substance naturally present in cotton plant to protect it from insects, pests and diseases. Maximum gossypol is concentrated in the seed. After extraction of oil from the cottonseed, the defatted cottonseed meal which contains both the gossypol and proteinous matter is left behind. A number of attempts have been made using different solvents to extract gossypol from the seeds. However, all these efforts have remained in the realm of academic activity only as none of them could be commercialized. If a pilot plant or commercial scale plant is to be developed then the data on the kinetics and thermodynamics of the extraction process is required. In this study ethanol has been used as the solvent at temperature below 323K for removal of gossypol from the defatted seed. This study finds the effects of parameters viz. temperature, solvent to solid ratio (SR) and extraction time on the gossypol extraction efficiency. The data obtained are used to establish the kinetics and thermodynamics of the extraction process.
