Opis:
Even though satellite-based positioning increases rescue workers’ safety and efficiency, signal availability, reliability, and accuracy are often poor during fire operations, due to terrain formation, natural and structural obstacles or even the conditions of the operation. In central Europe, the stakeholders report a strong necessity to complement the location for mixed indoor-outdoor and GNSS blocked scenarios. As such, location information often needs to be augmented. For that, European Global Navigation Satellite System Galileo could help by improving the availability of the satellites with different features. Moreover, a multi-sensored collaborative system could also take advantage of the rescue personnel who are already involved in firefighting and complement the input data for positioning. The Autonomous Indoor & Outdoor Safety Tracking System (AIOSAT) is a multinational project founded through the Horizon 2020 program, with seven partners from Spain, Netherlands and Belgium. It is reaching the first year of progress (out of 3) and the overarching objective of AIOSAT system is to advance beyond the state of the art in tracking rescue workers by creating a high availability and high integrity team positioning and tracking system. On the system level approach, this goal is achieved by fusing the GNSS, EDAS/EGNOS, pedestrian dead reckoning and ultra-wide band ranging information, possibly augmented with map data. The system should be able to work both inside buildings and rural areas, which are the test cases defined by the final users involved in the consortium and the advisory board panel of the project.

Opis:
The field of application for navigation tasks within forest work can mainly be divided into two sub-areas. Thus, two different mobile navigation terminals have been developed by TeleConsult Austria GmbH: - a pedestrian terminal for the use within forest inventory and in the field of manual wood harvesting, - a vehicle terminal for the optimisation of the forest logistic chain. This paper focuses on the presentation of the GNSS-based vehicle terminal for mechanized forestry operations to support and improve the forest logistic chain management. The mobile terminal is used as navigation aid and communication device mainly. The position determination of the navigation module is based on an integration of GPS and EGNOS. Due to the usage of a high sensitive GPS/EGNOS receiver with excellent satellite tracking capabilities, a continuous and reliable position determination is also possible in forest environments with limited view to the sky and weak satellite signals under dense canopy. For communication and data transfer between the vehicles and a forest office, the GSM/GPRS infrastructure is used. The display of the mobile terminal visualizes the navigation destination, general information, and the position of the own vehicle. Thus, the user is supported efficiently in guidance and navigational tasks.

A number of public codes exist for GPS positioning and baseline determination in off-line mode. However, no software code exists for DGPS exploiting correction factors at base stations, without relying on double difference information. In order to accomplish it, a methodology is introduced in MATLAB environment for DGPS using C/A pseudoranges on single frequency L1 only to make it feasible for low-cost GPS receivers. Our base station is at accurately surveyed reference point. Pseudoranges and geometric ranges are compared at base station to compute the correction factors. These correction factors are then handed over to rover for all valid satellites observed during an epoch. The rover takes it into account for its own true position determination for corresponding epoch. In order to validate the proposed algorithm, our rover is also placed at a pre-determined location. The proposed code is an appropriate and simple to use tool for post-processing of GPS raw data for accurate position determination of a rover e.g. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle during post-mission analysis.

Opis:
More than half of the incidents reported to EMSA relate to nautical events such as collision, groundings and contacts. Knowledge of accurate and high-integrity positioning is therefore not only a need for future automated shipping but a base for today’s safe navigation. Examples on accidents include Ever Given in the Suez Canal and HNoMS Helge Ingstad in Norway. A Network-RTK (NRTK) service can be used as an augmentation technique to improve performance of shipborne GNSS receivers for future positioning of manned and unmanned vessels in restricted areas, such as port areas, fairways, and inland water ways. NRTK service providers generate RTK corrections based on the observations of networks of GNSS reference stations which enables the users to determine their position with centimeter accuracy in real-time using a shipborne GNSS receiver. Selection of appropriate communication channels for dissemination of NRTK corrections data is the key to a secure positioning (localization) service. In PrePare-Ships project, the modern maritime communication system VDES (VHF Data Exchange System) is proposed to distribute SWEPOS (NRTK in Sweden) correction data to shipborne positioning modules. VDES is a very reliable technique and it is compatible with most onboard functionalities. In order to minimize the impact on the overall VDES data capacity in a local area, NRTK correction data shall only occupy a single VDES slot with a net capacity of 650 bytes. Update rates may vary but are preferably at 1Hz. However, NRTK correction data size changes instantly, depending on the number of visible GNSS satellites, and the data rate can therefore sometimes reach in excess of 1000 byte/s. In this study, a smart technique is proposed to reduce size of NRTK correction data to instantly adapt with the VDES requirements by choosing a combination of specific signals, satellites or even constellations such that the data rate is not more than 650 byte/s, and at the same time it achieves optimal positioning performance with the accuracy required by the PrePare-Ships project application.

Opis:
Nowadays GNSS/RTK positioning is a very efficient technique for determination of coordinates especially when it is based on permanent reference stations. It allows every land surveyor to do his work easily and efficiently. However there are some situations when the use of RTK technique makes some difficulties, especially if the GNSS receiver has no full availability for satellites. It is well know that obstructions caused by tress, buildings, power lines etc., limit satellites availability. In those situations gross errors can appear. In order to avoid misleading coordinates occurring we can use more than one receiver has no full availability for satellites. It is well known that obstructions caused by tress, buildings, power lines etc. limit satellite availability. In Those situations gross errors can appear. In Order to avoid misleading coordinates occurring we can use more than one receiver. The paper presents practical tests and description of the GNSS/RTK technology based on the simultaneous use of three different GNSS receivers for the specific control points. Three different GNSS/RTK receivers can be placed on a special mounting beam and additionally RTK positions are send in real-time to a computer. The software on the computer analyses not only the precision but also the accuracy of determined RTK positions. In effects that solution can allow obtaining reliable coordinates even if observational GNSS conditions are very severe.

Opis:
Integration between classical, executed by a levelling instrument, and satellite levelling, executed by a GNSS receiver, is possible after considering changes in deviations (undulations) between the geoid or quasi-geoid and the ellipsoid. Information about undulation is included in the geoid or quasi-geoid models. For integration, are used models which are fit to the vertical control points (benchmarks). The paper attempts to analyse the current quasi-geoid model developed for the territory of Poland in regard to its use in levelling. The results of the analysis are the corresponding cartograms, which in a different way illustrate the quasi-geoid undulation. This makes it possible to obtain additional information about the conditions for replacing normal height differences with ellipsoidal heights differences. This information may be useful for the design of vertical control points or their measurement using GNSS technology (e.g. levelling throughout field obstacles).

Opis:
A geoid or quasigeoid model allows the integration of satellite measurements with ground levelling measurements in valid height systems. A precise quasigeoid model has been developed for the city of Krakow. One of the goals of the model construction was to provide a more detailed quasigeoid course than the one offered by the national model PL-geoid2011. Only four measurement points in the area of Kraków were used to build a national quasigeoid model. It can be assumed that due to the small number of points and their uneven distribution over the city area, the quasigeoid can be determined less accurately. It became the reason for developing a local quasigeoid model based on a larger number of evenly distributed points. The quasigeoid model was based on 66 evenly distributed points (from 2.5 km to 5.0 km apart) in the study area. The process of modelling the quasigeoid used height anomalies determined at these points on the basis of normal heights derived through levelling and ellipsoidal heights derived through GNSS surveys. Height anomalies coming from the global geopotential model EGM2008 served as a long-wavelength trend in those derived from surveys. Analyses showed that the developed height anomaly model fits the empirical data at the level of single millimetres – mean absolute difference 0.005 m. The developed local model QuasigeoidKR2019, similar to the national model PL-geoid2011, are models closely related to the reference and height systems in Poland. Such models are used to integrate GNSS and levelling observations. A comparison of the local QuasigeoidKR2019 and national PL-geoid2011 model was made for the reference frame PL-ETRF2000 and height datum PL-KRON86-NH. The comparison of the two models with respect to GNSS/levelling height anomalies shows a triple reduction in the values of individual quartiles and a mean absolute difference for the developed local model. These summary statistics clearly indicate that the accuracy of the local model for the city of Krakow is significantly higher than that of the national one.

The general idea of this project is to popularize the usage of European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service System in Central European countries. The main goal will be achieved by demonstrating key capabilities of the EGNOS System. After that the National Fly Authority Agency certification procedure will be launched, EGNOS will become fully functional and operational airfield domestic system. Project consists of analysis of domestic airfields and Aircraft operator(s) against opportunity of EGNOS installation and utilization of capability for landing purposes, study of demonstrator's technical conception of EGNOS APV implementation connected with blueprint for certification process, on-board and airfield system installation connected with provisional certification and final demonstration of overall system capabilities, followed by on-going tests, system certification and implementation of Safety Case. Scientific research centers will prepare technical solutions for system installation at airfield and aircraft, with certification projects and procedures as well. This includes two types of certification: technical and fly procedures (landing procedures for aircraft and airfield). Safety of fly and Safety Case are especially taken into consideration. Currently, differential positioning methods, basing on global satellite navigation systems: GPS, GLONASS and also Galileo in the future, undergo dynamic development.

The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is widely used for reporting vessel movements and broadcasting additional information related to the current voyage or constant parameters like the IMO number or the overall dimension of the hull. Since dynamic AIS data is shared mostly without human interaction, and is not flawless, the static AIS content edited manually is vulnerable to human error. This work introduces a simple vessel motion pattern approach that determines the probable foredeck/afterdeck location of the GNSS reference used by the AIS transponder, and compares it to the hull parameters obtained from the static AIS data, to find observable errors in the static AIS configuration of the mount point of the GNSS reference antenna.

Opis:
The GNSS RTK-Networks have been aroused a great interest for the advantages in the surveying of the territory in comparison to the traditional RTK methodology. The DISTART in the last year has improved a Network for RTK positioning. At present the net is composed by 8 permanent stations. The control centre is nearby the Department of DISTART of Bologna University. This network is fundamental to investigate all aspects concerning the networks for real time applications. Particularly, not only the topographic feature is investigated, but a very important aspect concerning the data transmission infrastructure is analyzed. In fact the first experimentations demonstrated that the performance of the topographic network depends on the guarantee of a correct data transmission from the GNSS permanent stations to the Control Centre. To investigate on this field we built a network composed by mixed physical data transmission infrastructure between control centre and the permanent stations on the territory (topographic baselines about 70-80 Km) using university Italian network (GARR) and commercial networks. We studied the time of latency of data transmitted, that is an important aspect of the network, because to solve ambiguities every software for real time network solution needs that the GNSS permanent station observations arrives with a latency not too much greater than a second. Parallely we studied other important aspects of the data transmission in the network like the NAPs (Network Access Protocols), the velocities, the data formats (RTCM 2.X, RTCM 3.0). In this work we want to give the direction to characterize a procedure step by step of a network installation, wit h the purpose to define a standard, possibly certified, about procedures, materials, softwares to use to install a network of GNSS permanent stations for RTK positioning.

A new application using The Global Navigation Satellite System is the main objective of a project developed at the Department of Advanced Geodesy of CTU in Prague. Essential functionality is determining the location of a moving object on a predefined track. New and unique features deal with simultaneously processing GPS measurement data with other information, such as information about trajectory and object velocity. This method reduces the minimum number of satellites necessary to locate a moving object to only two satellites. The fully developed system may be useful for active management and tracking of public city transportation or monitoring of freight movement, e.g. hazardous materials.
Głównym celem projektu realizowanego w Katedrze Zawansowanej Geodezji w Pradze jest nowe zastosowanie The Global Navigational Satellite System. Metoda ta zmniejsza minimalną liczbę satelitów potrzebnych do zlokalizowania obiektu do jedynie dwóch. W pełni opracowany system może być użyteczny dla aktywnego zarządzania publicznym transportem miejskim lub monitorowania ruchu frachtu, na przykład niebezpiecznych materiałów.
