Opis:: From Znaniecki’s point of view, and alluding to present-day conclusions about the so-called reflexivity of modernity, one would have to say that it is a problematic reflexivity, as long as knowledge about the principles of cultural becoming will be minimal. Znaniecki did not deny the justification of sociological studies that start out from naturalist premises. However, he rightly believed that the dependence of cultural order on natural order is not only shrinking, but the reverse is in fact happening-there is an increasing influence of cultural order on natural order, and the rising complexity of cultural phenomena renders the naturalist approach scientifically less productive. The development of sociology as a cultural science led, according to Znaniecki, to displaying the possibility of a world-society as a society founded on culture, while the development of cultural sciences would be an expression of global responsibility for the world-culture society.

Opis:: This article contributes to the discussion on societal changes and their impact on communication disciplines by focusing on public relations and its role in contemporary global society. The thesis is that the public relations profession has been affected by contemporary societal changes that challenge the existing body of knowledge and its underpinning theories. To understand the role of public relations in 21st century global societies and pursuing future public relations theorizing, the authors argue it is paramount to comprehend which factors at macro, meso, and micro levels lie beneath the substantial changes in today’s global society. The article presents and reflects on four major macro trends of contemporary global society and concludes with suggestions for future directions for public relations scholarship and practice that are rooted in the concept of community and the idea of being part of and at the service of a community.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono istotę zrównoważonego rozwoju w późnej nowoczesności odnoszącą się do kształtowania rozwoju społecznego zarówno lokalnych społeczeństw, jak i globalnego społeczeństwa. Rozwój sustensywny (zrównoważony) jest procesem wielopoziomowym. W szczególności, oznacza to, że powinno następować polepszanie jakości życia wszystkich istot ludzkich, a także kreowanie ładu społecznego, gospodarczego, ekologicznego, przestrzennego i instytucjonalno-politycznego. Zaspokojenie potrzeb człowieka powinno następować przez realizację odpowiednich celów społecznych i/lub gospodarczych i/lub środowiskowych współtworzących rozwój. Współzależności pomiędzy tymi trzema kategoriami rozwojowymi winny się wzajemnie interaktywnie warunkować, a tym samym ujmować fakt, że proces rozwojowy zachodzi w trójsystemie.
This paper provides consideration on sustainable development in postmodern time, which should conduct shaping of social development as well as development of local and global communities. Ensuring sustainability of development is a multilevel process. In particular, that means that sustainability is achieved by improving live quality of each member of population, and needs creating of adequate social, economical, ecological, spatial and institutional-political order. Fulfilling of human needs leading to improvement quality of life should be achieved by realization following objectives social and/or economical and/or environmental, what is equal with development social and/or economical and/or environmental. Interrelationships between those three categories of development influence and limited each other.

Opis:: Presently, in the times of various threats and frequent economic, social and political crises - Energy Security Intensification is of key importance for the constant development of the Global Society. Energy Security is the term that cannot be unequivocally defined and determined in the global grasp. In the economically, ethnically, culturally and socially diversified world there are different views as well as the awareness concerning sources of possible threats and crises. Various threats that can have influence on possible critical situations depend on the regional division. The following threat factors can be distinguished here: resource ones, technological ones, social ones, economic ones and political ones. Geographical differentiation of the above mentioned determinants makes it necessary to adopt a multidimensional attitude to the notion of energy security as well as ecological and economic security.
W referacie przedstawiono aktualne zagadnienia z zakresu bezpieczeństwa energetycznego. Zaproponowano systemowe podejście definiowania i analizy bezpieczeństwa energetycznego. Na podstawie badań empirycznych wyznaczono: ekonomiczne, społeczne, ekologiczne oraz techniczne determinanty intensyfikacji bezpieczeństwa energetycznego. Determinanty intensyfikacji bezpieczeństwa energetycznego zestawiono, w poszczególnych ogniwach łańcucha tworzenia wartości energii finalnej dla konsumentów, wprowadzając fazy wzrostu bezpieczeństwa omawianego sektora gospodarczego.

Opis:: The author characterizes the spread of nowist culture as a global phenomenon consisting in the compression of the time frame and the emergence of an extended present absorbing the past and the future into the compact time of global society. These results of the impact of technological development, the spread of communication technologies, new media, consumption culture, the market, and advertising have a negative influence on the life of the individual, the permanency of culture, and the transmission of knowledge. The author claims that we must therefore discover anew the value of permanency. Local factors have a modifying influence on global processes. In Polish society these are historically conditioned elements of the presentist culture (the communist heritage, the domination of peasant culture, the weakness of urban culture, Catholic culture) and the effects of the systemic transformation. When time was discovered to be an economically measurable value, its place came to be occupied by work. People higher on the economic ladder are characterized by a deficit of time, in contrast to lower income groups, who rather suffer from an excess of time. The author emphasizes that time could become a source of social inequalities in nowist culture.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest krytyka koncepcji globalnego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego jako przeciwwładzy, czyli władzy społecznej opozycyjnej wobec panowania biurokracji i globalnego kapitału. Podstawowym punktem odniesienia są – reprezentatywne dla omawianego nurtu – teorie Manuela Castellsa oraz Ulricha Becka. Przez ich porównanie autor stara się wskazać słabości wspólne dyskursowi wokół globalnego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego jako przeciwwładzy. Podstawową słabością tego dyskursu okazuje się brak dostatecznego rozpoznania podmiotowości sprawczej. Następnie wskazane zostały przyczyny atrakcyjności tego modelu oraz tkwiące w nim sprzeczności. Na końcu autor rozważa przydatność tak uproszczonego ujmowania globalnego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego oraz przedstawia zarys modelu alternatywnego, opartego o metaforę korpuskularno-falową, która wyznaczyć może dalsze poszukiwania adekwatnego modelu społeczeństwa na poziomie globalnym
The aim of the article is to criticize the global civil society as a counterpower, i.e. social power opposing to the rule of bureaucracy and global capital. The basic point of reference are the theories of Manuel Castells and Ulrich Beck, representing the movement under discussion. By means of comparing them the author wishes to indicate the weaknesses common to the discourse around the global civil society as a counterpower. The main flaw of this discourse turns out to be the insufficient recognition of agency. Next, the grounds for attractiveness of this model are indicated as well as the contradictions inherent to it. In the end, the author reflects on the usefulness of the simplified approach to the global civil society and presents an outline of an alternative model. He proposes a wave-corpuscle metaphor, which may serve as means of further search for an adequate model of society on a global level.

Opis:: Contemporary world has become a global ecumene. The theory of globalization as approached by R. Robertson invokes the world conceptualization which assumes reducing the tension between the dichotomous tendencies. Unification and diversification are complementary processes, they are mutually influential and essential for the contemporary stage of development of the global society. The paradigm of globalization on the social and cultural plane is revealed in the binary scheme of extremes, such as: decontextualization and recontextualization, decomposition and recomposition, deteritorialization and re-teritorialization, transculturation and internalization. The contemporary anti-globalist movement is a reflection of ideological opposition. The criticism of globalization remains in close connection to an increasingly lively discussion regarding alternatives to globalization. Specificity of the quality of global cultural ecumene reveals the need to shape and improve the orientation towards responsible participation and cooperation in the changing and co-dependent global society.

Opis:: The article presents the current evolution of the global information society and the problem of digital divide. An additional category is globalization, which has been presented as an accelerator for the development of a global information society. The role of ICT in filling the development gap between regions of the world was identified on the basis of the UN classification. The concept of “digital divide” was introduced as a synonym for a new kind of development gap between the rich North and the poor South, and analysis of data from UN publications showed a constant high diversity of the global information society, which is clearly regionalized.

Opis:: The article analyzes the features of “Generation Z” as a harbinger of future planetary civilization. Attention is paid to information and digital technologies that affect the world community, rapidly transforming it into a single world, forming a “digital generation” that is effectively adapted to the new socio-cultural reality and feels more “citizens of the world” than their own country. The article analyzes the features of “Generation Z” as a harbinger of future planetary civilization. Attention is paid to information and digital technologies that affect the world community, rapidly transforming it into a single world, forming a “digital generation” that is effectively adapted to the new socio-cultural reality and feels more “citizens of the world” than their own country. The most important condition for their socialization is the construction of social reality, adaptation to new environmental conditions, its symbolization, separation of “their world”, restructuring of environmental conditions according to the thesaurus, built under the influence of macro- and microsocial factors, according to its symbolic universe. The interconnected processes of globalization and informationalization of society are revealed, which directly blur the boundaries of the modern interstate system, creating a contradictory and heterogeneous global society with a cosmopolitan worldview. The cosmopolitan approach is substantiated, which, overcoming state borders, allows to go beyond national practices, promotes their integration into the new world context through the establishment of a “compromise” of cultural, religious, ethnic and other differences. Cosmopolitanism is becoming a worldview and ideological platform and ontological unity of the planetary community. The modern generation needs to find its own way of mastering society. In order to understand the vicissitudes and metamorphoses of the modern world, we need a different perception of reality and the transformation of worldviews, values, the formation of a new identity. It is important not only to act locally, but also to think globally, systematically, taking into account particular and universal interests, immediate and long-term goals. The formation of a single world community, the formation of a global civil society, which in the long run must necessarily be formed as a result of overcoming fragmentation and the formation of a holistic world – „eternal peace” is becoming increasingly apparent.
У статті проаналізовано особливості «покоління Z» як провісника майбутньої планетарної цивілізації. Звернено увагу на інформаційно-цифрові технології, що впливають на світове співтовариство, стрімко перетворюючи його на єдиний світ, формуючи «цифрове покоління» – людей, які ефективно адаптовані до умов нової соціокультурної реальности й почуваються швидше «громадянами світу», ніж власної країни. Найважливішою умовою їхньої соціалізації є конструювання соціальної реальности, адаптація до нових умов середовища, його символізація, виокремлення зони «свого світу», переструктурування умов середовища відповідно до тезаурусу, що вибудовується під впливом макро- та мікросоціальних факторів відповідно до свого символічного універсуму. Розкрито взаємопов’язані процеси глобалізації, інформатизації суспільства, які безпосередньо розмивають межі сучасної міждержавної системи, створюючи суперечливий та неоднорідний глобальний соціум із космополітичним світоглядом. Обґрунтовано космополітичний підхід, який, долаючи державні кордони, дає можливість вийти за межі національних практик, сприяє їхній інтеграції в новий світовий контекст на основі утвердження «компромісу» культурних, релігійних, етнічних та інших відмінностей. Космополітизм стає світоглядно-ідеологічною платформою й онтологічною єдністю планетарного співтовариства. Сучасному поколінню необхідно шукати свій шлях освоювання суспільства. Для того, щоб розібратися в перипетіях і метаморфозах сучасного світу, потрібне інше сприйняття дійсности і трансформація світоглядних позицій, ціннісних установок, формування нової ідентичности. Важливо не тільки діяти локально, а й мислити глобально, системно, з урахуванням партикулярних і універсальних інтересів, найближчих і віддалених цілей. Все більш очевидним стає формування єдиного світового співтовариства, становлення глобального громадянського суспільства, яке в перспективі з необхідністю має сформуватися внаслідок подолання фрагментарности й формування цілісного світу – «вічного миру».

Opis:: Ostatnie dziesięciolecia charakteryzują się wielkim przyspieszeniem cywilizacyjnym. Nie wystarcza już tradycyjna zdolność adaptacyjna społeczeństwa do zamieniających się sytuacji społecznych, gospodarczych i technicznych. W artykule wykazuję, że trzeba podjąć zamierzone oddziaływania edukacyjne, skierowane szczególnie do ludzi dorosłych, którzy nie nadążają za zachodzącymi zmianami. Celem opracowania jest uświadomienie problemu globalizacji jako scalania rynków, kapitału, a także nowej idei i mechanizmów funkcjonowania współpracy z uwzględnieniem wielokulturowości. W tym kontekście ukazuję strategię rozwoju edukacji ze wskazaniem roli nauczyciela.
The last decades are characterized by a great acceleration of civilization. A traditional adaptability of the society to constantly changing social, economic and technical situations, are not yet sufficient. In this article, I am showing that it is necessary to undertake planned educational influences, directed particularly to adult people who do not follow up with those changes. The aim of this elaboration is to enlighten the problem of globalization as a market’s merge, the chapter of the new idea and mechanisms of cooperation functioning taking into account the multiculturalism, at the same time. In this context the development strategy of the education and showing the role the teacher is presented.
