Opis:
W trakcie realizacji tematu wytypowano medium błonotwórcze firmy Ferro, zdolne do wytwarzania trwałej powłoki po naświetlaniu promieniami UV, oraz pigmenty firmy Merck, umożliwiające uzyskanie powierzchni metalizujących. Doświadczalnie ustalono ilości medium i pigmentu niezbędnego do uzyskania lakieru o reologii zapewniającej jego drukowość. Lakiery, naniesione metodą sitodruku bezpośredniego na płytce szklanej i szkliwionej płytce ceramicznej, naświetlano promieniami UV w celu utwardzenia powierzchni, określając czas niezbędny do utwardzenia powłoki lakieru. Wydrukowane i utwardzone powierzchnie lakieru poddano ocenie wizualnej pod kątem jednorodności powierzchni, gładkości, siły krycia i efektu metalizującego. Wykonano badania odporności chemicznej i twardości utrwalonej powłoki oraz badania starzeniowe nieutwardzonych lakierów.
For the purpose of the research we selected a medium by Ferro able to form durable coatings after UV curing, and Merck pigments giving metal effect to surfaces. By means of experiments the correct amounts/of the medium and the pigments, required to obtain varnish with rheological properties ensuring its printability. After screen printing onto a glass plate or a glazed ceramic tile the varnishes were exposed to UV rays in order to harden the surface thus establishing the time necessary to harden the varnish coating. Next the printed and hardened surfaces were examined visually with regard to their surface homogeneity, smoothness, hiding power and metal effect quality. Aging tests and chemical resistance tests of the UV cured surfaces were also carried out.

Opis:
Purpose The aim of the presented work was to develop an economical, transparent coating with dispersed TiO2 dispersion and inorganic polysiloxane resin for glass windows application and to study its effectiveness in filtering IR and UV radiations. Design/methodology/approach Two oligomeric silanes were prepared in different molar ratios to produce inorganic polysiloxane resin. They were tested for their viscosity to reflect the completion of the reaction and form an amide linkage. FTIR was done to support the viscosity result by proving the presence of amide linkages. 10%, 20%, and 30% of compounded TiO2 were successfully dispersed in 0.3% sodium sulfosalicylate (dehydrated ethanol). Each TiO2 concentration was characterized for size distribution and polydispersity index (PDI). Additives solutions of 2-hydroxybenzophenone (HBP) and boron trifluoride (BF3) were also soluted in the same solvent. Glass substrates were coated with the formulations and tested for curing and hardness properties. Windows Energy Profiler (WEP) was used to study the UV, IR, and daylight transmission of the coated glasses. Findings Each inorganic polysiloxane resin showed various viscosity values before reaching a constant state which designates complete formations of amide linkages. Polysiloxane resin with a viscosity value of 30.5 mPa/s was the most ideal to act as a binder. FTIR characterization proved the formation of amide linkages. The particle size distribution of TiO2 recorded the size of 87 nm after dispersion with correlating value of 1 PDI. The fastest drying time of 3 hours was recorded. The pencil hardness test quoted 6H pencil as the hardest pencil grade. WEP analysis of UV, IR, and daylight transmission gives satisfactory results of 0%, 7%, and 61%, respectively. Research limitations/implications Laboratory analysis for viscosity tests often being held off. The test requires the samples to be transferred in a cylinder with an open-air spindle rotation. Samples react with the surrounding environment. Thus, polymerization takes place rapidly, resulting in hardened samples inside the cylinder. The different measure was taken by wrapping the testing area with aluminium foil. This research was conducted under equatorial climate. Practical implications The obtained test results may contribute to the conclusion of transparent TiO2 nano-particles coating on glass substrates for windows application. This can reduce the electricity usage in buildings for artificial cooling to provide indoor thermal comfort. Smart coating formulations have a noticeable effect on filtering harmful solar radiation. Originality/value This study presents the economical and undemanding ways to develop transparent smart coating formulation with superior performance against solar radiation. It is expected to have a bright potential in the architectural industry.

Opis:
Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy and Capacitance-Voltage measurements are used to characterize the chemical bonding configuration and crystallographic orientations for SiOxNy thin films grown by glass assisted CO2 laser. FTIR spectra detected the Si-O and Si-N strongest absorption bands are close to each other at wave number in the range (700-1000 cm-1) depending on silicon substrates, and Si-O stretching bond at wave number around (~1088.285 cm-1) with a FWHM of 73.863 cm-1 for the two samples, the presences of hydrogen impurities like Si-H and N-H in the films were also identified and calculated. From C-V measurement film thickness were calculated and found to be 19.2 and 17.2 nm for SiOxNy/Si(111) and SiOxNy/Si(100) respectively. From the flat band voltage of -5.4 and -1.3 measured the two samples, their interface trap densities were found to be 1.4 × 1013 and 1.57 × 1013 ev-1•cm-2 respectively.

Opis:
The soilless culture of vegetables in greenhouse has increased in Turkey. In recent years, bunch tomato has grown in soilless culture. However, bacterial cancer, virus (TMV, TYLVC) andTutaabsulta are limited tomato growing soilless culture as well. For this reason, others vegetables such as eggplant and pepper can be alternative crop for soilless culture. The aim of the research is determination of growing media such as cocopeat, split mushroom compost, perlite, volcanic tuff and sawdust on yield and fruit quality of eggplant. Our results suggest that mushroom compost and cocopeat media improve eggplant fruit quality more than other growing media.
