    Opis:
    This article deals with two concepts of the genesis of religion. The first came from evolutionary anthropology, the second from the theology of religion. The relations of these concepts are presented in the context of the relationship between science and faith, especially – the reception of the theory of evolution by Catholicism. One example is the work of Robin Dunbar, in which he closely links the rise of religion to the process of anthropogenesis, and on the other, the revelatory concept of the genesis of religion, emphasizing the revelation by creatures and creatures. Although religious theologians, such as Marian Rusecki, have historically been skeptical about evolutionist-oriented religious studies, it is worth considering the possibility of a new reception for authors such as Dunbar, by the contemporary Church. Such a reception must be pre-ceded by a reconciliation of terminology and the recognition of a philosophi-cal background, which was indicated in this article. The article’s conclusions are distinguished by the promising compatibility of certain elements of both visions, the usefulness of the above mentioned reception resulting from the universality of the evolutionary paradigm in contemporary science and the noncontradiction of religion and science.

    Celem niniejszego opracowania jest przybliżenie myśli apologetycznej ks. Idziego Radziszewskiego, pierwszego rektora KUL. Ksiądz Radziszewski uważał, że jednym z jego najważniejszych obowiązków jest walka z błędnymi poglądami dotyczącymi religii. W swych pracach podjął się dyskusji z ewolucjonistyczną koncepcją religii oraz niewłaściwym ujmowaniem relacji między teologią a naukami przyrodniczymi. Dla ukazania wspomnianych wymiarów myśli apologetycznej ks. Radziszewskiego przeanalizowane zostały cztery główne jego dzieła, uznane za ważne w polskiej apologetyce. Analizę przeprowadzono podejmując się ukazania dwóch zasadniczych tematów, na których skupił się w swej obronie myśli katolickiej pierwszy rektor KUL. Były to kolejno: zagadnienie genezy religii oraz relacja istniejąca między teologią a naukami przyrodniczymi. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła wskazać, że w swoich poglądach ks. I. Radziszewski: 1) sprzeciwiał się rozpowszechnionemu w jego czasach przekonaniu, że jedynie tzw. metoda naukowa (negująca np. refleksję filozoficzną) pozwala osiągnąć prawdę; 2) wykazał nieusuwalne sprzeczności w ewolucyjnej koncepcji genezy religii, która dominowała w jego czasach; 3) wskazał na racjonalne podstawy nadprzyrodzonego pochodzenia religii; 4) wskazał na konieczność respektowania kompetencji poznawczych w przypadku konfliktów zachodzących między wiedzą opartą na poznaniu naukowym a wiedzą będącą owocem refleksji teologicznej; 5) twierdził, że żadne odkrycia w obszarze nauk ścisłych nigdy nie będą mogły – ze względu na różny przedmiot poznania – podważać słusznych twierdzeń teologicznych.
    The aim of this paper is to present the apologetic thoughts of Fr. Idzi Radziszewski, the first Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin. Rev. I. Radziszewski believed that one of his most important duties was to fight against erroneous views concerning religion. In his works, he undertook a discussion with the evolutionary concept of religion and an incorrect understanding of the relationship between theology and natural sciences. In order to show the above mentioned dimensions of Fr. Radziszewski’s apologetic thought, we have analyzed four of his main works, considered to be the leading works in Polish apologetics. The analysis was conducted with an attempt to show two main topics, the focus points of the first Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin in his defense of Catholic thinking. These were: the question of the origin of religion and the relationship between theology and natural sciences. This analysis made it possible to show that, according to his views, Fr. I. Radziszewski: 1) opposed the conviction, widespread during his time, that only the so-called “scientific method” (negating e.g. philosophical reflection) allows one to reach the truth; 2) showed irremovable contradictions in the evolutionary concept of the origin of religion that prevailed in his time; 3) pointed to the rational basis for the supernatural origin of religion; 4) pointed to the necessity of respecting cognitive competence when conflicts arise between knowledge based on scientific cognition and knowledge that is the fruit of theological reflection; 5) he stated that no discoveries in the area of the sciences could ever, due to the different object of knowledge, undermine valid theological claims.

    René Girard francuski antropolog kulturowy, pracujący w Ameryce jest autorem koncepcji wyjaśniającej nieświadome posługiwanie się mechanizmem kozła ofiarnego w przypadku rozmaitych kryzysów społecznych. Pozbycie się kozła ofiarnego pozornie przywraca ład w społeczeństwie, ale w późniejszym okresie następuje jego sakralizacja i w ostateczności może powstać nowa religia. W dziejach opisywanych na kartach Biblii również dochodzi do wykorzystania tego mechanizmu. Lecz w nich również ten mechanizm zostaje ujawniony. Tamże pokazuje się również, że możliwe jest też rozwiązanie kryzysu bez użycia przemocy.
    René Girard a French anthropologist, settled in America, is the author of a concept which explains the unconscious use of a scapegoat mechanism during various social crises. Getting rid of the scapegoat only seemingly helps to restore social order, thus in the following period of time the scapegoat becomes subject of sacralisation which may finally lead to an establishment of a new religion. In the history depicted in the Bible the scapegoat mechanism is also used, and revealed. The Bible also shows that it is possible to find a solution to the crisis without violence.

    The article presents the history of theological and religious research conducted at the Institute of Fundamental Theology, Faculty of Theology of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. In particular, it highlights the contribution of the Institute’s employees to contemporary theological and religious research questions as well as presents their publication output. The main research achievements include: the innovative association of the concept of religion and its theologically understood truthfulness with its genesis (the theory of the revelatory origin of religion); the original concept of theology of religion as an interdiscipline; the possibility to justify the plurality of religion de iure while maintaining the unique status of Christianity among the world religions; the close relationship between the theology of religion and fundamental theology in justifying this uniqueness, especially in discussions with representatives of the pluralist-relativistic theology of religion.

    The author of publication relates to a rich literature on the subject and presents the substantive worth of upbringing in Christian family. She presents in a complex way the elements which constitute religious life, showing its nature, origin, course and meaning. The author draws reader's attention to the clearness of religious behavior and the educational value of religion and upbringing in Christianity. Individual and social dimension of such and education and the changes which follow are also mentioned in the article. The author, treating the religious upbringing as a process leading to subjective faith in God, discusses at the same time practical clues for both the educators and the educated ones.
