Doświadczenie zmiany wpisane jest w życie społeczne. Współcześnie, na skutek zmian cywilizacyjnych, zwłaszcza związanych z rozszerzeniem pola komunikacji przez rozwój interentu i mediów społecznościowych, zmiany te wydają się szczególnie dynamiczne. Przedmiotem wstępu jest podkreślenie tego faktu oraz zachęta do podjęcia dyskusji na temat siły i jakości doświadczenia zmiany, zwłaszcza w perspektywie pokoleniowej. W tym kontekście zarysowano temat pokolenia i postawiono pytanie, w jakim stopniu jest to koncepcja wciąż nośna, a w jakim współcześnie nadużywana. Wstęp zawiera również uzasadnienie tematyki zebranych w tomie tekstów.
The experience of change is inscribed in social life. Nowadays, as a result of civilizational transformations, especially those related to the expansion of the sphere of communication due to development of the Internet and social media, these changes seem to be particularly dynamic. The aim of the Introduction from the Editor is to highlight this fact and to encourage a discussion on the strength and quality of the experience of change, especially in the generational perspective. In this context, the theme of generation is outlined and the question is raised to what extent this is still a viable concept and whether it is being misused today. The introduction also includes a justification of the subject matter of the texts collected in the volume.

Spór o istotę kompetencji nauczycielskich trwa od wielu lat. Co kilkanaście lat do szkół trafia nowe pokolenie uczniów mających inne możliwości, potrzeby, wyobrażenie o otaczającym ich świecie. Coraz szybsze zmiany życia społecznego, postęp naukowo-techniczny sprawiają, że szkoła musi podejmować ciągle nowe wyzwania. Uczelnie wyższe nie są w stanie wyposażyć absolwentów kierunków nauczycielskich w wystarczające na kilkadziesiąt lat kompetencje zawodowe. Ważnym jest zatem, by należycie przygotowały ich do kształcenia ustawicznego, do ustawicznego doskonalenia, uzupełniania i rozwijania nowych kompetencji stosownie do trafnie zdiagnozowanych potrzeb społecznych i osobistych uczniów z kolejnych pokoleń.
The dispute over the essence of teaching competences has been going on for many years. Every dozen or so years, a new generation of students with different possibilities, needs and ideas about the world around them go to schools. Increasingly faster changes in social life, scientific and technical progress make the school constantly have to take up new challenges. Universities are not able to equip graduates of teaching faculties with professional competences sufficient for several dozen years. It is therefore important that they properly prepare them for lifelong learning, for continuous improvement, supplementing and developing new competences in accordance with the correctly diagnosed social and personal needs of students from subsequent generations.

Th e Youth: A Troublesome Sociological CategoryTh e youth is a sociological category which usually causes trouble for the adults due toyoung people’s contestation of the social order and value systems. Young people havealways been among potential and actual revolutionaries. It can be concluded that theyouth constitute some kind of threat to the existing state of society. Young peoplecompete with adults, not only in the sphere of values, but also on the job market forthe best posts and, as a consequence, for positions in the social structure. Since thisis a kind of an emerging category, just entering an adult life, its position has beenusually worse. Th us the youth additionally has to experience (oft en negative) consequencesof social change and its impact for individual biographies of youngsters. Th eyouth also causes trouble as an object of sociological study. Firstly, there are problemshow to determine precisely the scope and content (meaning) of this concept.Secondly, youth research led usually to the conclusions that were quickly challengedby the social practice. Th irdly, there are various ideas how to determine its role insociety. Th e purpose of this paper is to analyze these issues in the context of the socialchanges taking place in the modern globalized society.

The subject of this article is the perception of one of the most significant changes that the Polish nation has experienced, i.e. Poland’s transformation after 1989. This article takes into consideration generation gaps while evaluating the changes in different spheres of social activity, like individual functioning, life of the Polish nation and the lot of the world. For the purpose of our research, an original and unique procedure provided with the authorial research device has been created. In total 490 people were examined, including 245 adults and their 245 children who had left primary school. The analysis takes into account generation gaps in the perception of the intensity of the changes’ consequences, as well as their value, positive or negative, depending on the actual estimation of the influences. The analysis of the outcome of the research is preceded by an introduction presenting the notion of social change as a subject of social science analysis.

Our conceptual paper argues that the COVID-19 pandemic has created conditions for the constitution of a new historical generation in Mannheimian terms. Current attempts in the sociology of youth to reconcile structure and agency with the concept of generation provide good starting points for interpreting a historical event such as the COVID-19 pandemic. While generations are not to be understood as homogeneous groups, constituting events can be compared to an asteroid that changes the trajectory of each social group. Thus, the concept of asteroid-effect helps us to overcome oversimplifying generational interpretations and to examine the effects of generation-forming events with an eye on structural inequalities. Our study provides an overview of the classical generational theory of Mannheim in light of some contemporary approaches. Based upon existing information, we illustrate how the generation-forming events can be interpreted and how structural inequalities can be considered.

Exploring acceptance on benefits of solar farm implementation in Malaysia. Implementation of solar farms to generate electricity is still low in Malaysia, where only 1%, or 227.5 MW of the total installed electrical capacity in Malaysia was produced from solar PV installations in 2016. Renewable energies, e.g. solar energy, have been adopted in many countries to generate electricity as a response to global environment issues. The aim of this study is to determine financial opportunities and benefits of solar farm implementation towards the society and the environment. Data were acquired through a literature review and questionnaire survey that was conducted among the respondents that are directly involved in the solar energy. Long-term financial savings constitute the most identified financial opportunities for the implementation of solar farms in generating clean electricity. Implementation of solar farms will encourage more businesses related to solar energy to be established in the country and will lead to new business opportunities. Solar farms are far better than conventional fossil fuel power plants in terms of the environmental effect and also reduce the health effects on the society during the electric generating process.

Wiskitki is a small town situated 6 km from Zyrardów. It has been treated as a laboratory for studying the mechanisms and directions of social change in a small town. The social and geographic mobility of Wiskitki's young generation in relation to their education level and education aspirations were the study's subject. Several data sources were used: Wiskitki 7-grade school's archives covering the period from 1925 to 1960, interviews, participant observation, date stemming from the pupil's essays on a given topic and several others. The factors influencing the change in the upward social mobility patters were the changes both in the sphere of institutions, infrastructure and economic relations, as well as in social consciousness. The increased demand for qualified labor force in the neighboring bigger town and the new bus line between Wiskitki and Zyrardów are the examples of the first group of factors. The change of particular professions' social prestige illustrates the second group of factors.

W artykule omówiono wyniki autorskiego badania dotyczącego oczekiwań pracowników w obszarze funkcjonowania w zmiennym otoczeniu biznesowym w opinii przyszłych pracowników z pokolenia Y, którzy obecnie wkraczają na globalny rynek pracy. Prezentowane wyniki badania ukazują opinie respondentów z Polski, Ukrainy i Grecji oraz trendy zmian w zakresie komunikacji z przyszłymi pracownikami. Wnioski stanowią rekomendacje dla kadry zarządzającej w zakresie zarządzania zmianą w organizacjach, w których pracują pracownicy z pokolenia Y. Wnioski z przeprowadzonego badania wskazują, że respondenci upatrują w zmianie lepszą perspektywę, pokłady dodatkowej energii do działania oraz zarówno możliwość wykazania się, jak również możliwość wykorzystania swoich silnych stron albo rozwoju swoich słabych stron. Co szósty respondent postrzega zmianę jako intrygującą przyszłość. Aby skutecznie wprowadzać zmiany w organizacjach, kadra zarządzająca nieustannie musi zmierzać się z minimalizowaniem oporu pracowników. Wydaje się, że obecnie wkraczające młode pokolenie Y na rynek pracy może usprawnić implementowanie zmian.
In her article, the author discussed the findings of the author’s research on employees’ expectations in the field of functioning in the variable business environment in the opinion of prospect employees from Generation Y who have currently been entering the global labour market. The presented research findings show the opinions of respondents from Poland, Ukraine and Greece as well as the trends of changes as regards communication with prospect employees. The conclusions are recommendations for the managerial staff in the area of change management within the organisations where the employees from Generation Y work. The conclusions stemming from the conducted research indicate that the respondents see in the change a better perspective for themselves, layers of additional energy to act and both the opportunity to demonstrate one’s abilities and the possibility to make use of one’s strengths or to change one’s weaknesses into strengths. Every sixth respondent perceives the change as an intriguing future. In order to effectively introduce changes within organisations the managerial staff must unceasingly cope with minimising employees’ resistance. It seems that the young generation Y, currently entering the labour market, may have improved the change implementation.

The investigations covered 54 subsequent generations of Hymenotepis diminuta WMS „strain" obtained through the administration of 6 cysticercoids of tapeworm to Wistar strain rats and WAG alb. rats. The number of tapeworms at 2.5 months after the infection of rats ranged from 3 to 6, on the average 5.2. Taking into consideration the most important type 1p2a (one testis on the poral side and two testes on the aporal side), 0p3a, 1p3a and 2p1a proglottids a significant differences was found in the distribution of the numerousity of type 1p3a proglottids (P<0.05). This indicates a possibility of an unguided change of the numerousity of proglottids of this type in a period covering 54 subsequent H. diminuta generations bred in laboratory conditions.
