Opis:

Przedmiotem rozważań w artykule jest płeć (gender) w rachunkowości, a jego głównym celem jest zbadanie „obecności” kobiet i mężczyzn w polskiej rachunkowości. Dla realizacji tego celu przyjęto metodę studiów literaturowych, metody ilościowe oraz analizę opisową i porównawczą. W pierwszej kolejności, na podstawie analizy literatury, naświetlono, czym zajmują się gender studies w rachunkowości. Następnie, przy wykorzystaniu danych pochodzących z blisko 100 źródeł, przedstawiono „obecność” kobiet i mężczyzn w obszarze edukacji, praktyki, polityki i nauki rachunkowości w Polsce. Wyniki badań wskazują z jednej strony na dominację ilościową kobiet w polskiej rachunkowości, lecz z drugiej sygnalizują nierówności w strukturze wynagrodzeń oraz szczebli zawodowych i naukowych. Artykuł jest (prawdopodobnie) pierwszym opracowaniem tego typu w kraju.

The author of this publication has considered the question of presence so called gender in the law of European Union and its chances and risks which could be the consequences of gender’s ideology. Firstly, author has made the analysis of equivocal notion of gender and has indicated the difference between gender studies, which is the academic discipline, which the subject are the means of demonstration of genders in different cultures and societies and gender mainstreaming which is the political strategy extracting the part of achievements above discipline. Subsequently there have been mentioned numerous regulations and documents of EU law, which regulate the gender equality. Finally, the author has evaluated, if gender pose a threat or a chance for society. Consequently this elaboration is the voice getting into a discussion to the point of gender and its potential consequences.

W treści artykułu omawiam użyteczność narzędzia Google Trends do badania wybranego obszaru płaszczyzny intratekstualnej dyskursu. We wstępie przypominam podstawowe założenia modelu DIMEAN (Diskurslinguistische Mehr-Ebenen-Analyse) ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem interesującej mnie płaszczyzny i sposobów przeprowadzania analizy słowa. Na tak zarysowanym tle wskazuję możliwości wykorzystania Google Trends na przykładzie obserwacji słów kluczowych z zakresu dyskursu genderowego. Okazuje się, że zastosowanie narzędzia gromadzącego big data pozwala na ujawnienie mechanizmu przenoszenia słów kluczowych w przestrzeń słów stygmatów.

Przeprowadzona w artykule próba przybliżenia sposobów uobecniania kultury popularnej w refleksji lingwistów pozwala na sformułowanie wniosków o rosnącej popularności tej tematyki, a także różnorodności sposobów jej ujmowania. Badaczki i badacze sięgają po rozmaite propozycje teoretyczne oraz instrumentaria metodologiczne. Interesuje ich zarówno kultura rodzima, jak i obca. Starają się umieszczać badane fenomeny na tle tendencji wyznaczających mapę współczesności. Dzięki podobnym próbom można coraz więcej dowiadywać się o specyfice naszych czasów i być może lepiej je rozumieć.

W tekście przedstawiam dzisiejszą kondycję polskich gender studies prowadzonych jako studia podyplomowe. W większości miast co roku nie udaje się utworzyć grup słuchaczy i słuchaczek studiów. Jako „odpowiedzialne” za ów stan przywołuje się backlash oraz kampanię „ideologia gender”. Niestety problemy z rekrutacją występowały wcześniej. W wystąpieniu opisuję neoliberalny kształt płatnych studiów podyplomowych prowadzonych w dużych miastach. Uczestniczyć mogą w nich osoby dysponujące odpowiednim potencjałem ekonomicznym oraz wolnym czasem. Ważnym aspektem jest też kwestia aplikacyjności zajęć (oraz jej braku) prowadzonych w ramach GS. Zgodnie z założeniami studiów podyplomowych słuchacze i słuchaczki GS kształcić powinny zawodowe kompetencje. Problematyczny jest również język kampanii informacyjnych/promocyjnych, którego używamy zachęcając do udziału w prowadzonych zajęciach. Ten często wykorzystuje kapitalistyczne klisze: zysku i inwestycji w siebie. Wystąpienie jest głosem krytycznym wykładowcy, który uczył na studiach genderowych w Warszawie oraz brał udział w kształtowaniu genderów w Poznaniu i Szczecinie.
In this text I present today’s condition of Polish gender studies that are conducted as postgraduate studies. In most of the cities it is impossible to form groups of students. It is believed that “responsible” for this state are backlash and campaign called “gender ideology”. Unfortunately these problems with enrollment have appeared earlier. In my presentation I describe the neoliberal shape of chargeable postgraduate studies that are conducted in large cities. Joining these groups depends on economic factors and free time of the students. An important aspect is also practical dimension of gender studies – students should develop themselves and their abilities. In accordance with the guidelines of postgraduate studies students should improve their professional skills. There is also a problem with the language of information/promotion campaign, as we use it as an instrument to encourage people to take part in these group activities. The language very often uses capitalist and stereotypical concepts profit and investment in yourself. The presentation is the critical voice of lecturer, who was teaching gender studies in Warsaw and was participating in forming “genders” in Poznan and Szczecin.

While writing about her attitude towards feminist criticism and gender studies, the authoress emphasizes the possibility of referring to the sphere of individual experience which permits her to write about literature, without relinquishing her own subjectivity. Presenting the biographies and creative output of the authoresses as well as the life stories of the heroines described in their works from the point of view of the category of experience, has refreshed the language of Polish literature studies, which has so far been dominated by structural and historical methodology; at the same time, it has made room for self-expression or else “self-creation” of the researcher and for breaking the barriers between science and life in a critical text. The authoress confesses that today the problem of self-creation and the role of her own experience in the process of reading and interpreting literary texts is no longer so important to her. The subject has ceased to act like a mirror for the analyzed text; the unavoidable process of the “blackening of the mirror” has been initiated. Yet the practice of feminist criticism teaches one that critical and academic texts are always somehow entangled in the biography of the writer. The ability to understand this truth allows one to better understand oneself and others.

Artykuł sytuuje Ostatni etap pośród tych filmowych świadectw i reprezentacji, których rewizjonistyczna reinterpretacja daje poznawcze rezultaty w dziedzinie gender studies. Autorka analizuje dwa filmy, w których dzieło Jakubowskiej służyło jako wzorzec ikonograficzny: Trzy kobiety (1956) Stanisława Różewicza oraz Pasażerkę (1963) Andrzeja Munka. Talarczyk-Gubała postrzega Trzy kobiety jako polemikę z filmem Jakubowskiej i jej przekonaniem o nierozerwalności więzi łączącej byłych więźniów. Autorka podkreśla też światopoglądową wspólnotę reżyserów o przekonaniach lewicowych, zakorzenionych w tradycjach polskiego socjalizmu oraz ambiwalencję wpisaną w wizerunek nadzorczyni SS w kreacji Aleksandry Śląskiej. Z analizy intertekstualnych relacji między pierwszym fabularnym filmem o obozie koncentracyjnym a filmami do niego nawiązującymi wynika, że zarówno u progu, jak i w okresie zamknięcia polskiej szkoły filmowej dzieło Jakubowskiej stanowiło niezbywalny punkt wyjścia dla polskich filmów obozowych.
The article places The Last Stage in the midst of these film testimonies and representations of which revisionist reinterpretation produces interesting outcomes in the area of gender studies. The author analyses two films for which Jakubowska’s work served as an iconographic model: Stanisław Różewicz’s Three Women (1956) and Andrzej Munk’s The Passenger (1963). Talarczyk-Gubała considers the Three Women to be a polemic with Jakubowska’s film and her views on the indestructible bond between former prisoners. The author points to the left wing views shared by the directors, grounded in Polish socialist tradition and the ambivalence inscribed in the image of the SS overseer in the creation of Aleksandra Śląska. The analysis of the intertextual relationship between the first feature film about concentration camps and the films that refer to it indicates that both in the beginning and towards the end of the Polish film school, Jakubowska’s work was a non-negotiable starting point for Polish films on labour camps.

Le Roman de Silence Heldris’a de Cornouailles ukazuje niejednoznaczną postać Silence, dziewczynki wychowanej jako chłopiec, który/a staje się później dzielnym rycerzem i doskonałym żonglerem. Nie sposób jej jednoznacznie skategoryzować, dlatego szczególnie ciekawe wydaje się spojrzenie na Silence przez pryzmat gender studies i teorii queer. Żyjąc w świecie męskiej dominacji i dychotomicznych podziałów, Silence nie jest w pełni ani mężczyzną, ani kobietą. Gry językowe oraz niekonsekwentnie zmienne zastosowanie męskich i żeńskich zaimków przez autora wzmagają wrażenie wieloznaczności bohatera/ki, który/a niejednokrotnie afirmuje swoją męską tożsamość. Z punktu widzenia społeczeństwa, istotny jest jednak powrót do status quo i jasne określenie tożsamości bohatera/ki. Silence musi stać się kobietą i żoną.

This is a book review of the Academic careers of women and men, edited by Renata Siemieńska. The authors of the chapters presented in the book show selected problems of gender inequality and discrimination in Polish higher education compared to other countries. They analyze excitingly, among others: the low share of women in technical and engineering sciences in European countries, mechanisms marginalizing women in the surgical profession, a small percentage of women in the staff of art universities, as well as the course of doctoral studies and access to research grants awarded to women and men by Polish institutions. The discussed aspects also present a historical perspective and investigate the causes of the existing state of affairs. The research results on the situation of women in the academic world cited in the book prove that regularities persist for years, such as slower development of scientific careers among women or their low presence in higher positions in the academic hierarchy.

The text will define the expressive nature of lexemes from a new group of feminatives, the determinant of which is the suffi x -essa. The study is an attempt to record this group. The present article investigates the issue of gender differences in language use. We look at some essential notions indispensable in the analysis of language use such as context. We also present some of the ideas and theories related to the question whether there are systematic differences in the ways men and women use language introduced by scholars working within the frame of gender studies and sociolinguistics. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje kwestię różnic w użyciu języka, wynikających z płci interlokutorów. Przez analizę kluczowych pojęć (takich jak np. kontekst) oraz przegląd poglądów i teorii badaczy zajmujących się socjolingwistyką i problematyką gender autor stara się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy istnieją systematyczne różnice w użyciu języka wynikające z płci. Opierając rozważania na pojęciach, poglądach i teoriach wspomnianych powyżej, przeprowadza analizę materiału językowego pochodzącego z popularnego programu motoryzacyjnego Top Gear.

The character of alter ego of Ivana Sajko – croatian playwright – in the text a „Bomb Woman“, sends e-mails with a question “What would you do if you had twelve minutes and thirty seconds more?” to her friends and receives twenty-one replies. Among the answers there are eleven male and ten female voices. In my opinion, the proportion between male and female voices may be a significant interpretational clue. Does not it prove that the author aimed at maintaining political correctness in the text? The aim of this paper is to indicate gender inclinations of the contemporary Balcan authors basing on, among others, the following texts: „Bomb Woman“ by Ivana Sajko, „The other letter from 1920“ by Muharem Bazdulj and „Sahib“ by Nenad Veličković. Is not the protagonist’s detonationreferring again to Sajko’s text – on the symbolic level, an attempt to break with the myths of woman-mother and woman-mistress? Moreover, my goal is to demonstrate that the decisions concerning social interactions taken by the characters of the discussed texts, may be explained in psychoanalysis criteria, e.g. Oedipus complex.

Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę ujęcia strategii życiowych i praktyk językowych osób nie hetero¬norma¬tyw-nych, funkcjonujących w japońskim społeczeństwie, w perspektywie koncepcji queerowych, a zatem przy naś¬wietleniu nie tyle historycznych kontekstów czy genealogii, ile oporu wobec japońskich i zachodnich idei już niehegemonicznych, jednak wciąż służących dominacji opresyjnego patriarchatu.
This paper is an attempt to overview life strategies of those people in Japan, whose experiences have fallen outside the scheme of heteronormative roles. The modes of resistance to hegemonic notions are analysed in their historical context, including the origins and popularity gaining, however the main point is to reveal the withdrawal of hegemony of numerous outdated social norms. The analysis of selected examples is done engaging with Japanese gender theories as well as western queer approach.

Opis:

This article attempts a closer look at the issue of grammatical gender in translation. The analysis of this concept is based on Michał Witkowski’s novel Lubiewo (Korporacja Ha!art, Kraków, 2005 [2006]) and its Spanish translation by Joanna Albin (Lovetown, Anagrama, Barcelona, 2011). The author of the article aims to analyse problems of grammatical gender translation which stem from the differences between the Polish and Spanish grammar systems, and how the gender specific elements in the Polish text were rendered in the target language, especially in the fragments in which Spanish did not have the grammatical gender equivalent and the translator had to compensate for it in a different fragment.

This article is devoted to the strategies of creations of masculinity used in the novel Bravery (pol. Męstwo) written by Bruno Jasieński. The article analyzes the ways in which patriarchate is presented in post-revolutionary social and gender relations as well as the strategies used for the creation of gender identity along with the social consequences of the revolutionary project of emancipation, which was abandoned in the USSR in the early 1930s. An important assumption of the study is also an attempt to establish the relation of this short prose to dominant fiction preserved by the poetics of socialist realism.

Gender studies werden hier vor allem in Bezug auf die Literaturwissenschaft dargestellt und im politischen Kontext der zweiten Frauenbewegung und Frauenforschung verortet. Mit Beispielen aus Deutschland und Polen werden ihre Methoden, Forschungsbereiche, Forschungsergebnisse und Entwicklungstendenzen besprochen. Diese Reflexionen bauen auf der These auf, dass ‚gender‘ eine wissenschaftliche Tatsache im Sinne Ludwik Flecks ist und gleichzeitig eine wissenschaftliche Analysekategorie, die die meisten Wissenschaftsdisziplinen auf die Bedeutung der Differenz hin öffnet.
Gender studies przedstawiam tu nie tylko w związku z literaturoznawstwem, ale także podejmuję próbę umiejscowienia ich w kontekście politycznym drugiej fali ruchu kobiecego oraz w kontekście badań kobiecych i w nauce w ogóle. Na przykładach z Niemiec i z Polski omawiam metody gender studies, ich zakresy badawcze, wyniki badań literaturoznawczych oraz perspektywy rozwoju. Refleksje te rozwijam zgodnie z tezą, według której ‚gender‘ jest faktem naukowym w znaczeniu Ludwika Flecka i jednocześnie kategorią analityczną, która otwiera większość dyscyplin naukowych na znaczenie różnicy.
Posited in the context of Second-Wave-Feminism and Women Studies, in this text, Gender Studies are introduced with reference to literary sciences. Methods, fields of research, results and new tendencies are discussed by means of examples from Germany and Poland. All these reflections are based on the assumption – inspired by Ludwik Fleck – that ‚gender‘ is both a scientific fact and an analytical category which could customise most of scientific disciplines to the relevance of difference.

Jaume Roig’s Espill constitutes one of the masterpieces in the history of Catalan literature. On the pages of the present article the attention will be put on one of its main thematic subjects, that is marriage, treated on the basis of a large perspective, whose goal will be to integrate the results of interdisciplinary analyses from the fields of anthropology, theology or cultural studies, in order to project an all-embracing view that will allow to configure the Spill’s signifiers polyhedron, which relies on its precious and singular textual ambiguity. In this frame and around the marriage’s core, the textual presence of sexuality marks, family relations and amor hereos will be analyzed in detail, for finally presenting a reading proposal of the main character’s matrimonial episodes from an exegetical sight.

Once thought to be the fictitious creations of Jane Austen, the seven Gothic novels that comprise the ‘Northanger ‘Horrid’ Novels’ have been critically neglected since their rediscovery in the early twentieth century. This paper engages with ideas of absence and exclusion within the ‘horrid’ novel The Necromancer by Peter Teuthold, in order to consider the historical (mis)construction of women by male voices in eighteenth-century rape trials. Particular emphasis is placed on an embedded narrative within the text that subversely explores the ways in which the female voice is subsequently read and mis(constructed), so that the narrative is ‘structured’ and ‘arranged’ to construct a version of a woman at odds with femininity, one that ultimately deviates from ‘the natural order.’

Opis:

Tomasz Piątek is a journalist and writer who debuted with an award-winning novel Heroine partly based on his own experiences. The article focuses on the language used in this novel to describe the effects of the titular addictive drug. Metaphors used in the novel present heroine as an androgynous, perfect lover. Linguistic methods used for the analysis of The Great Empress help to understand the ways drugs “seduce” addicts and the specifics of the relation between both drug, addict and others. In this article, I investigate whether the drug was gendered and sexualized, and thus I interpret the sexual context of the relation between the heroine and addicts.

This research paper aims to present the issue of gender studies as a scientific discipline embed in certain research context and in a network of relations with such ideas and conceptions as feminism and queer theory. By analyzing the historical and philosophical context and the range of influence in the area of these three disciplines, I consider the way how they popularly function in the scientific and common discourse. By relating both disciplines to each other and confronting them with the chronology, I analyze possible variants of thinking the sequent of these disciplines or their ahistorical functioning. I also search for the similarities between them, which could advocate a diachronic view and place in the causal context that calls to the synchronic attempt. In that way I consider all points of view and speculate validity or invalidity of synchronic attempt to gender studies, feminism and queer theory. Starting from asking for the historism or ahistorism of the term gender and presenting the way it varies from feminist and queer conceptions, I consecutively analyze feminism with reference to gender research (in both variants of the chronological result); gender research with reference to queer studies and queer studies with reference to feminism.

Para contextualizar o tema, este artigo comeza expoñendo a situación das mulleres no teatro galego das primeiras décadas do século XX, atendendo á súa participación nas actividades dramáticas como escritoras, tradutoras, actrices e tamén, desde a perspectiva da temática, como protagonistas das obras da época, as do teatro social ou teatro de tese. Móstrase a escasa presenza de escritoras, así como os prexuízos sociais que tiñan que superar para traballar como actrices; canto ao tratamento que recibían no teatro de tese, proba que as mulleres das clases populares aparecían como vítimas propiciatorias dos poderosos. Entre 1920 e 1936, fronte a unha única dramaturga, Herminia Fariña Cobián (1904-1966), cuxa obra non chegou até a actualidade, houbo catro dramaturgos galegos que escribiron, e estrearon, algunha peza destinada a defender a igualdade de dereitos para as mulleres, tres deles do grupo xeracional das Irmandades da Fala e o cuarto, da Xeración das Vangardas: Donosiña (1920), de Xaime Quintanilla (; Entre dous abismos (1920), de Antón Vilar Ponte Ponte (1881-1936); A tola de Sobrán (1920), Francisco Porto Rey (1876-1941); María Rosa (1921), de Gonzalo López Abente (1878-1963) e Branca (1934), de Luís Manteiga ((1903-1949). Opis:

The article explores the heuristic potential of gender studies and area studies (especially those concerned with Central and Eastern Europe) and appeals for a decentring of research units such as ‘general history’ and ‘Europe’ within historiography. It criticises the often mechanical use of spatial categories that ignores the fabrication of spaces by area specialists, and the reification of gender identities within women’s and gender studies. It argues for a combination of gender and area sensitive research in order to evade the juxtaposition of constructivism vs. essentialism. History of knowledge and feminist theory of science are described as useful tools for such an approach.

Autorka bada związek gender i (auto)biografii. Asumptem do rozważań jest ukazanie się Encyklopedii gender. Płeć w kulturze – pierwszej tego typu publikacji w języku polskim, która w formie haseł prezentuje terminologię i metodologię gender studies w różnych dziedzinach nauki. W artykule kategorię (auto)biografizmu potraktowano w kontekście, który wykracza poza literaturoznawstwo - encyklopedia bowiem jest wydawnictwem interdyscyplinarnym, sięgającym także do kulturoznawstwa, socjologii, historii, antropologii i medycyny. Autorka zwraca uwagę na tożsamość (także jako konstrukt społeczno-kulturowy), która jest elementem biografii. Wskazywane przez autorkę tropy (auto)biograficzne w hasłach encyklopedycznych potwierdzają fakt, że kategoria gender ma wpisaną w siebie autobiograficzność.
The author of the article explores the connection between gender and (auto)biography. The release of the Encyklopedia gender. Płeć w kulturze [Encyclopedia Of Gender. Gender In Culture] is the ocassion for reflections on the subject. It is the first publication of its kind issued in Polish language. It presents in the form of entries the terminology and methodology of gender studies in various fields of science. In the article the (auto)biographical category is treated in a context which goes beyond literature. The encyclopedia is an interdisciplinary publication, spanning from cultural studies, sociology, history to anthropology and medicine. The author draws attention to the identity (also as a socio-cultural construct) which is an element of the biography. The author indicates (auto)biographical traces in the encyclopedia's entries in order to confirm the fact that the category of gender has autobiography inscribed in it.

Opis:

This article offers a reflection on the current state of affairs regarding sexuality studies in general and the representation of non-heterosexual women in particular in contemporary academia and feminisms. As a lesbian scholar based in Poland, I am attempting to establish a separate lesbian-studies discourse in the Polish academia on the one hand, and encourage a great dose of interdisciplinarity in moving towards re-adjusted and re-defined lesbian feminisms on the other. Having defended my doctoral dissertation, I am going to re-visit and summarise one of its parts, namely the question of inadequacies of contemporary gender studies. Although the overall character of my activity can be situated within the sociology of sexuality, I tend to conceptualise the problems in question through the prism of sociology of knowledge and human geography, and especially the branches of feminist geography and geographies of sexualities. Altogether, I am going to briefly look into several contemporary gender and/or women’s studies programmes in Poland in order to show both their incapacity to deal with female sexuality and, as a consequence, their erasure of lesbianity. Needless to say, the brief analysis herein is merely the start of the discussion as it offers only a sample of exploratory efforts with regard to the question of academic feminisms, but it is one that reveals some alarming tendencies.

Dzięki innowacyjnemu zastosowaniu ilościowych metod analizy tekstu, stanowi też istotną pozycję w zakresie metodologii stylometrycznej, nadając całości pracy interdyscyplinarny charakter.
Presented text is a review of the book "Reading beyond the female: The relationship between perception of author gender and literary quality" by Dutch researcher Cornelia Koolen. Discussed book undertakes the issues of relations between the gender of the author, evaluation of literary quality of their work and actual features of the texts, thus fitting in the larger trend of research on gender stereotypes in language and literature. The innovative use of quantitative methods also grants it an important place within literatureon stylometric, making it an interdisciplinary work.

Opis:

A new education of women. Denis Diderot’s anatomy course project for young noble women. Denis Diderot (1713–1784) explained how women’s education should be different than before. A woman should be considered a citizen, Diderot demanded placing primary social importance on her domestic activity. An interesting feature of this new approach to education of women was to include an anatomy course in their personal development. Denis Diderot did not devote a separate tractate to the issue of women’s education, nor did he write a concise curriculum in anatomy. However, the remarks scattered among various texts by the philosopher concerning that innovative concept allow us not only to reconstruct a fairly cohesive draft of an anatomy course for girls, but also superbly illustrate Diderot’s commitment to realization of his own ideas. Secondly, we need to consider the activities of one Ms. Biheron – the organizer of public anatomy courses – which exerted, as we will see, a huge influence on Diderot’s conviction of the need to incorporate such courses in women’s education. In the last part of the discourse, the involvement of the French philosopher in the educational reforms of Catherine II should be noted. The analysis of Diderot’s texts on education clearly indicates that the philosopher put a strong emphasis on changes in the methods of teaching women. As the director of St. Petersburg facility for girls he managed to partially put his project into effect. Of course, for French philosophers – blind to Russian realities –  the unquestionable success of Diderot’s anatomy course might be another argument for the proclamation of the view that Catherine II realized in her country the postulates of the Enlightenment.

This paper explores the presence of gender-conscious attitudes in the works of the Czech author Lenka Procházková (born 1951), a member of the dissident movement during the communist regime. It argues that her writings took issue with patriarchal social structures, yet sometimes camouflaged these challenges behind criticism of the totalitarian rule. These expressions, which one might be tempted to consider as feminist from a Western and 21st-century point of view, emerged within East European dissident culture and probably without exposure to Western feminist concepts. Procházková developed a model of an inner exile for dissidents that originated in a canonical work of Czech literature by Božena Němcová and from which one of her female protagonists draws strength. Thus, her works suggest that Western gender theories are limited in their potential to assess East European dissident women’s writing, when they fail to include local literary traditions.

Celem artykułu jest określenie specyfiki oraz częstotliwości występowania środków leksykalnych w tym również środków stylistycznych, wykorzystywanych w nagłówkach artykułów takich czasopism jak „Домашний очаг” i „Psychologies”. Analizie poddano treść poszczególnych nagłówków zamieszczanych w czasopismach, ukazujących się w okresie od stycznia 2018 r. do sierpnia 2019 r. Analiza nagłówków zamieszczanych na stronach współczesnych czasopism dla kobiet pozwoliła przedstawić potencjał systemu leksykalnego, który daje szerokie możliwości oddziaływania na odbiorcę, także w ramach teorii gender, jako że pozwala określić jaki obraz współczesnej kobiety kształtują dane czasopisma. Co ciekawe, chociaż oba czasopisma wykorzystują te same środki wyrazu, których podstawą jest emocjonalność, to jednak wyłania się z nich zupełnie inny obraz kobiety, co potwierdzają liczne przykłady stanowiące podstawę materiału analitycznego.
The aim of the article is to define the specificity and frequency of occurrence of lexical means, including stylistic means, used in the headlines of articles of such magazines as “Domašnij očag” and “Psychologies”. The content of individual headlines in magazines, published in the period from January 2018 to August 2019, was analysed. The analysis of headlines published on the pages of contemporary women’s magazines allowed the presentation of the potential of the lexical system, which gives wide possibilities for influencing the recipient, also in terms of gender studies as it allows the definition of what image of a modern woman is created by the given magazines. What is interesting, although both magazines use the same means of expression based on emotionality, is the completely different image of a woman that emerges from them, which is confirmed by numerous examples which are the basis of the analytical material.

Biography was a prominent component of Maria Bogucka’s research output, encompassing reviews, encyclopaedic entries and extended articles. She would also publish four biographical monographs. Bogucka was very eager to include in her biographies, especially those relating to women rulers, colourful accounts, expressive assessments and controversial opinions. Her biographical writing was ‘journalistic’ in essence, and looked to make emotive links with the heroes and heroines of her studies. Sensitive to economic issues and changes which had taken place in the mentality of societies, Bogucka was also interested in writing biographical accounts of representatives of the bourgeois elites. Biography in Bogucka’s oeuvre allowed her to analyse historical figures’ lives insightfully, thus exploring outstanding individuals’ personal fates.

Politics and its science are determined by the current gender system. This not only reflects the exclusion of women and dissident sexualities from the real political process, but also in scientific production. When the gender perspective enters the discipline, it provides an epistemological change that consists in recognizing the theoretical and political significance of sexual difference. In this paper we analyze the production of Argentine political science that incorporates this gender perspective focusing on the national congresses and relevant journals of the discipline in the period 1993–2018.
La política y su ciencia están determinadas por el sistema de género vigente. Ello no sólo refleja la exclusión de las mujeres y de las sexualidades disidentes del proceso político real, sino también en la producción científica. Cuando la perspectiva de género ingresa a la disciplina, aporta un cambio epistemológico que consiste en reconocer la significación teórica y política de la diferencia sexual. En este trabajo analizamos la producción de la ciencia política argentina que incorpora esta perspectiva de género a partir de los congresos nacionales y de revistas relevantes de la disciplina en el período 1993–2018.

The article attempts to interpret the character of Anne Shirley in terms of gender studies, mainly taking into account such an issue as the pro‑feminist element in the work of Lucy Maud Montgomery herself, which had an impact on the creation of a new type of heroine breaking the 19th‑century Victorian patterns of that time. Another reading from Anne of Green Gables resulted in a completely new text of culture, Anne with an E (Netflix, CBC), extracting forgotten or unread voices from the pages of novels. The author of the article compares specific situations from the book with TV series’ moments and their mutual impact on the transmitted content and to the constant emancipation of the main character.

Opis:

Animated movies can be treated as one of the forms of cultural transmission that can be a source of gender stereotypes. Therefore, they are involved in the process of constructing images of femininity and masculinity, especially among young viewers. The author of this article presents what are, in his opinion, the most popular ways of categorizing masculinity, and then juxtaposes them with the typology of masculine characters presented in contemporary animated films. The empirical material used in the study is based on a qualitative content analysis carried out on the fifteen most popular titles from the years 2011–2015. Certain difficulties regarding the description of the characters presented in animated films, using categories from classical theories of masculinity, are indicated. The author presents a new category of masculinity – selective masculinity.
Filmy animowane mogą być traktowane jako jedna z form przekazów kulturowych będących źródłem stereotypów płciowych. Biorą zatem udział w procesie konstruowania obrazu kobiecości oraz męskości, szczególnie wśród młodych odbiorców. Autor artykułu przedstawia najpopularniejsze jego zdaniem sposoby kategoryzowania męskości, następnie zestawia je z typologią postaci męskich prezentowanych we współczesnych filmach animowanych. Wykorzystany materiał empiryczny pochodzi z jakościowej analizy treści przeprowadzonej na piętnastu najpopularniejszych tytułach z lat 2011–2015. Wskazane zostały trudności z opisem bohaterów prezentowanych w filmach animowanych za pomocą kategorii pochodzących z klasycznych teorii męskości. Autor prezentuje nową kategorię męskości – męskość selektywną.

Opis:

The subject matter of the article is a comparison of Charles Bauelaire's poem Femmes damnées (Damned) and its two translations by Kazimiera Zawistowska and Bohdan Wydżga. Although Zawistowska's literary work is not as accurate to the French original as Wydżga's, it surpasses it in artistic terms. The description of the differences resulting from different poetic sensibilities of the writers and their gender involvement is preceded by brief information about context-appropriate, contemporary translational theories of the possible ways of shaping relations between original and translated works.
Tematem artykułu stało się porównanie wiersza Charlesa Bauelaire’a Femmes damnées (Potępione) oraz jego dwu tłumaczeń: autorstwa Kazimiery Zawistowskiej i Bohdana Wydżgi. Opis różnic, wynikających z odmiennej wrażliwości poetyckiej tłumaczy oraz ich uwikłań genderowych, zostaje poprzedzony krótką informacją na temat wpisanych w kontekst współczesnych teorii przekładoznawczych sposobów kształtowania relacji między dziełem oryginalnym i tłumaczonym. Choć utwór Zawistowskiej nie jest tak wierny francuskiemu oryginałowi jak tekst Wydżgi, to przewyższa go pod względem artystycznym. Przyjęte w artykule tło badań kulturowych, w którego obrębie istotną rolę zyskuje kategoria płci, umożliwia odnalezienie w przekładzie młodopolskiej poetki typowej dla tej twórczości specyfiki „głosu kobiecego”. Jej wersję tłumaczenia można uznać za rodzaj manifestu kobiecej seksualności i kobiecych doświadczeń ciała, zmysłowej miłości oraz cierpienia.

Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, w jaki sposób amplifikacja retoryczna wpływa na dyskurs, nadając terminom naukowym wydźwięk emocjonalny. Przedmiotem studium jest polski dyskurs genderowy w jego wariancie politycznym. Artykuł składa się z pięciu części. Po zdefiniowaniu w części wstępnej pojęć gender i dyskurs, zwrócono uwagę na narzędzia amplifikacji retorycznej. Materiał badawczy – polskojęzyczne teksty internetowe prezentujące różne stanowiska w debacie na temat płci – przeanalizowany został pod kątem typologii używanych mechanizmów amplifikacji.
The aim of this article is to show how rhetorical amplification affects discourse in giving emotive overlay to scientific terms. The study analyzes the Polish gender discourse in its political variant. The article consists of five parts. After delineating the notions of gender and discourse in the introductory part, attention is paid to the devices of rhetorical amplification. A sample of Polish-language online texts featuring various stances in the gender-related debate is subjected to a typological analysis of amplification mechanisms used.

The following article takes up the notion of homeland in the works of Vasily Aksenov. In the article it was shown that in the writer's value system the homeland plays an important role. Rodina was considered key in gender studies. Analyses have demonstrated that Russia – is a symbol of the Mother, the USSR – is a symbol of her stepmother. The writer accuses the motherland that it has allowed to deprive their citizens of their freedom, particularly freedom of speech. The article also presents Aksenov’s attention to a small homeland – Kazan, the city of the writer’s childhood.

Данная статья посвящена вопросу родины в творчестве Василия Аксенова. В статье было доказано, что в системе ценностей писателя родина занимает важное место. Родина была рассмотрена в ключе gender studies. С помощью анализа произведений было показано, что Россия – это символ Матери, СССР – символ мачехи. Писатель обвиняет Родину в том, что позволила обидеть своих граждан, отобрать у них свободу, особенно свободу слова. Аксенов обращает также внимание на маленькую родину – пространство Казани, родной город писателя.

Opis:

Celem niniejszego tekstu była analiza wizerunku męskości przedstawionego w podręcznikach języka polskiego dla szkół gimnazjalnych. Przeprowadzona została krytyczna analiza dyskursu podręczników, a następnie interpretacja uzyskanych wyników przy pomocy narzędzi teorii postkolonialnej. W rezultacie określone zostały znaczenie oraz funkcja kreowanych w analizowanym materiale męskich tożsamości, zawarte w nich obszary wykluczeń oraz znaczenie tych tożsamości w szerszym kontekście społecznym oraz kulturowym.
The aim of this paper was to analyze the representations of masculinity in the Polish literature textbooks for upper-secondary schools. A critical discourse analysis was conducted and, subsequently, the findings were interpreted in the light of the postcolonial theory. Consequently, meanings and functions of male identities in the textbooks and spaces of exclusion in the representations of masculinity were specified. Their meaning in broad socio-cultural context was presented.

Opis:

Das Phänomen „Transsexualität“ kann in unterschiedlichen Perspektiven wahrgenommen, analysiert und erforscht werden. Die jeweils eingenommene historische, wissenschaftliche, religiöse oder persönliche Perspektive prägt auch entsprechende Einsichten und Urteile über dieses Phänomen. Dieser Artikel verdeutlicht sechs wichtige Perspektiven: zunächst jene der transsexuellen Personen und die medizinisch-psychiatrische Sichtweise (Geschlechtsidentitätsstörung, Geschlechtsdysphorie, Geschlechtsinkongruenz). Weiters wird die begriffliche Perspektive (Transsexualität, Transidentität, Transgender) sowie die der Gender / Queer Studies (natürliche Geschlechterdichotomie als soziale Konstruktion) verdeutlicht. Die beiden letzten Perspektiven betreffen verschiedene Konzepte von Geschlechtsidentität und deren Entwicklung sowie die katholisch-theologische Position, die weiterhin bedeutsam die geschöpflich verfügte binäre Geschlechterordnung als soziokulturelle Grundannahme der Geschlechterdifferenz formiert. Letztlich bedarf es einer integrativen Zusammenschau dieser Perspektiven, um dem Phänomen „Transsexualität“ möglichst sachgerecht entsprechen zu können.
The phenomenon of „transsexuality“ can be viewed, analyzed and studied from different perspectives. Each accepted perspective, that is historical, scientific, religious or personal one also affects the appropriate perception and judgments on this phenomenon. The article outlines six important perspectives: the perspective of a transsexual person, the medical and psychiatric one (disorder of gender identity, gender dysphoria, sex incongruity), conceptual perspective (transsexuality, trans-identity and trans-gender), the perspective of the gender studies / gender queer (natural dichotomy of a sex as a social construct), the perspective of different concepts of gender identity and their development, as well as the Catholic theological perspective, which still formulates in a significant way a creative disposition of a binary gender order as a socio-cultural basic assumption of different sexes. Finally, there is a need for inclusive review of these perspectives so as to be able to properly respond to the “transsexuality” phenomenon.
Zjawisko „transseksualności” może być postrzegane, analizowane i badane z różnych perspektyw. Każda przyjęta perspektywa historyczna, naukowa, religijna lub osobista odbija się również na odpowiednim postrzeganiu i osądach na temat tego zjawiska. Ten artykuł przedstawia sześć ważnych perspektyw: perspektywę osoby transseksualnej, perspektywę medyczno-psychiatryczną (zaburzenie tożsamości płciowej, dysforia płci, inkongruencja płci), perspektywę pojęciową (transseksualność, trans-tożsamość, trans-gender), perspektywę studiów gender / queer (naturalna dychotomia płci jako konstrukcja społeczna), perspektywę różnych koncepcji tożsamości płciowej i ich rozwój, a także perspektywę katolicko-teologiczną, która nadal dobitnie formułuje zadysponowany stwórczo binarny porządek płci jako społeczno-kulturowe podstawowe założenie różnych płci. Ostatecznie, zachodzi potrzeba integrującego ujęcia tych perspektyw, aby móc prawidłowo odpowiedzieć na zjawisko „transseksualizmu”.

Opis:

Предметом аналізу є типи та чинники маскулінності, зображені у романі Ю. Смолича "Наші тайни" (1935). Mаскулінність у статті тлумачиться з позицій суспільного конструктивізму. Чинниками, що визначають гендерну соціалізацію юнаків у романі, визначено війну, спорт і сексуальний досвід. Спираючись на аналіз російської імперської маскулінності, української колоніальної маскулінності і кризи маскулінності, проаналізовано драматизм конфлікту між суспільними очікуваннями від чоловіків у часи війни і реальним травматичним досвідом, якого вони зазнають, а також кризу імперської маскулінності під впливом війни і становлення різних національних типів маскулінності. Виявлено, що факторами протистояння кризі маскулінності загалом, у романі представлено спорт та секс. Подальшу долю роману пов’язано із тим, що зображена гендерна соціалізація не відповідала пропагованій радянській нормі, відповідно до якої роман було змінено.
The subject of the analysis is the types and factors of masculinity depicted in the novel "Our Secrets" by Yuri Smolych (1935). Masculinity in the research papers is interpreted from the standpoint of social constructivism. War, sport, and sexual experience are identified as factors determining the gender socialization of young men in the novel. Based on the analysis of Russian imperial masculinity, Ukrainian colonial masculinity, and the crisis of masculinity, the drama of the conflict between social expectations of men in times of war and the real traumatic experience they undergo, as well as the crisis of imperial masculinity under the influence of war and the formation of different national types of masculinity, are analyzed. It has been found that sports and sex are presented in the novel as factors of resistance to the crisis of masculinity in general. The subsequent fate of the novel is due to the fact that the depicted gender socialization did not correspond to the propagandized Soviet norm, according to which the novel was changed.

Opis:

В останні роки в Україні активізувалася дискусія довкола ґендерної політики. Однією зі складових стала інтеграція ґендерних студій у систему освіти. В статті пропонується аналіз ґендерних студій у середовищі вищої освіти і недержавних громадських організацій, оцінка їхньої задіяності в законодавчу сферу та співпрацю з органами влади, внесок у підготовку фахівців з ґендерних студій. Українські НДО, спрямовані на підтримку ґендерної політики, сформували потужне громадське лобі. Ці процеси бурхливо обговорюються в інформаційному полі і стають інструментом в умовах гібридної війни проти України.
In recent years, Ukraine has intensified discussion on gender policy. One of the components was the integration of gender studies into the education system. The article proposes an analysis of gender studies in higher education and non-governmental organizations, assessment of their involvement in the legislative sphere and cooperation with authorities, contribution to the training of gender specialists. Ukrainian NGOs, which aimed at supporting gender policy, have formed a powerful public lobby. These processes are vigorously discussed in the media field and become a tool in terms of hybrid war against Ukraine.
