    Generally hydrocarbons reservoirs can be divided into conventional reservoirs and unconventional reservoirs. Conventional reservoirs belong these reservoirs which can be used directly after the discovering process. Unconventional reservoirs - reservoirs which after the discovery process have to be prepared to be effective. Unconventional gas resources are targets for development in order to contribute to a national energy mix. Better recognition of the unconventional gas reservoirs allow us to obtain good results after discovering them. The main subject of this paper is giving some details about the testing methods of unconventional reservoirs and their properties and characteristics.

    Opis:
    Natural gas prepared for pipeline transportation must have appropriate parameters described in norms and standards. This entails a restrictive approach to acceptable changes in the composition of the natural gas in pipeline transmission system. The greater number of entry points to the pipeline transmission system causes a greater probability of natural gas diversity in terms of the content of its individual components. It particularly concerns the natural gas sources in which treatment methods are not sufficiently accurate and also imported gas. In specific cases where natural gas with a higher content of heavier hydrocarbons such as propane and butane will enter the transportation system, it is possible for the phenomenon of retrograde (reverse) condensation to occur. The occurrence of the two-phase system significantly worsens the pipeline transport conditions, causing significant pressure drops of transported natural gas. The article examines cases where the phenomenon of retrograde (reverse) condensation occurred in the pipeline transportation of natural gas.

    This paper presents studies carried out in a pilot-scale plant for recovery of waste heat from a flue gas which has been built in a lignite-fired power plant. The purpose of the studies was to check the operation of the heat recovery system in a pilot scale, while the purpose of the plant was recovery of waste heat from the flue gas in the form of hot water with a temperature of approx. 90 °C. The main part of the test rig was a condensing heat exchanger designed and built on the basis of laboratory tests conducted by the authors of this paper. Tests conducted on the pilot-scale plant concerned the thermal and flow parameters of the condensing heat exchanger as well as the impact of the volumetric flow rate of the flue gas and the cooling water on the heat flux recovered. Results show that the system with a condensing heat exchanger for recovery of low-temperature waste heat from the flue gas enables the recovery of much higher heat flux as compared with conventional systems without a condensing heat exchanger.

    Przedstawiono analizę wpływu wielkości strumienia gazu obojętnego na przebieg i efektywność wykraplania par 1-propanolu w skraplaczu wężow-nicowym. Stwierdzono, że w wężownicy skraplacza występują trzy strefy wymiany ciepła. Analizę przeprowadzono dla strumieni azotu 80-220 dm3/h i temperatury -32 to -10°C. Stwierdzono, że efektywność wymiany ciepła wzrasta wraz z obniżeniem strumienia azotu i temperatury kondensacji.
    Experimental and theoretical investigations dealing with condensation of 1-propanol - nitrogen mixture inside the 4 mm ID coil condenser tube are presented in the paper. The studies were performed with nitrogen flow rate varying from 80 to 220 dm3/h. The operating temperature ranged from -32 to -10°C. The energy efficiency of VOC condensation increased with the decreasing of non-condensable gas flow rate and operating temperature.

    Opis:
    On the territory of Ukraine within Dniepro-Donets depression a number of oil and gas condensate pools with atypical for them properties has been revealed. These are hydrocarbon formation fluids of transitional state with initial gas content over 800-1000 m3/m3 in oils or content of fraction C5+ in gas over 1000 cm3/m3. Under such conditions it becomes complicated to define pool type (phase state), since well-known numerical classifications with the use of different physical-chemical characteristics and their ratio turn out to be ineffective. In particular, the formation hydrocarbons of Sary field horizon V-18 simultaneously have the indications typical for oil and condensates. Phase state of such formation systems can be established only during special thermodynamic investigations in installations of phase equilibrium under condition that liquid-gas ratio in production of wells is properly measured. Even, insignificant deviations in the value of this ratio lead to phase equilibrium displacement in experiments and errors in determination of formation hydrocarbon fluid type.
    Na obszarze Zagłębia Dnieprowsko-Donieckiego na Ukrainie odkryto kilka złóż ropy i kondensatu o nietypowych cechach. Są to węglowodorowe płyny złożowe w stanie przejściowym o początkowej zawartości gazu powyżej 800-1000 m3/m3 w ropach lub zawartość frakcji C5+ w gazie powyżej 1000 cm3/m3. W takich warunkach trudne jest określenie stanu fazowego, gdyż dobrze znane klasyfikacje numeryczne z wykorzystaniem różnych fizykochemicznych charakterystyk i ich stosunków okazują się nieskuteczne. W szczególności, formacje zawierające węglowodory w horyzoncie V-18 na złożu Sary jednocześnie mają wskazania typowe dla ropy naftowej i kondensatu. Stan fazowy takich formacji można określić jedynie w czasie specjalistycznych badań termodynamicznych w instalacjach z równowagą faz pod warunkiem, że w produkowanej substancji właściwie określono wielkość stosunku cieczy do gazu. Nawet niewielkie odchylenia w wartości tego współczynnika prowadzą do przesunięcia punktu równowagi fazowej w badaniach i błędnej klasyfikacji płynu złożowego.

    W pracy przedstawiono analizę wpływu wielkości strumienia, składu i temperatury mieszaniny gazowej na efektywność cieplną skraplacza wężownicowego. Analizę przeprowadzono dla obszaru laminarnego przepływu gazu, w zakresie temperatur -30 do -10°C. Stwierdzono, że efektywność skraplacza wzrasta wraz ze wzrostem prędkości przepływu gazu oraz spadkiem temperatury. Sprawność ta jest większa, gdy mieszanina gazowa zawiera pary 2-propanolu i gdy w wężownicy zachodzi ich kondensacja.
    The aim of this work was to investigate an influence of temperature, air flow rate and gas mixture composition on the effectiveness of coil heat exchanger. The studies were performed with air flow rate varying from 3 to 20 dm3/min (laminar flow range). Operating temperatures ranged from -30 to -10°C. The effectiveness increased with increasing air flow rate and decreasing operating temperature. This effectiveness was higher when gas mixture contained 2-propanol vapours condensing in the coil.

    Considering the flow in the last stages of LP (low pressure) steam turbine the strong non-linearity of the thermal parameters of state and possibility of the two-phase flow have to be taken into account in the numerical calculation of the flow field. In this paper numerical calculations of the steam condensing flow for the turbine geometry are presented. The steam properties are described here on the basis of the IAPWS’97 formulation. The classical nucleation theory of Volmer and Frenkel was adapted for modelling of condensing flow. The droplet growth model of Gyarmathy is implemented. The calculations are based on the time dependent 3D Euler equations, which are coupled to three additional mass conservation equations for the liquid phase and are solved in conservative form.

    In accordance with the requirements of the European Union after 2015 there is going to be a big change in the use of gas boilers. The paper presents the classification of gas boilers in terms of their efficiency, quality and cost efficiency. A review of currently used boilers with a particular focus on the condensation technique was done. Also the selection of boilers and their working conditions were presented.

    Opis:
    Reservoir condensate blockage in the reservoir and in particular in the close vicinity of the wellbore may result in significant loss of well deliverability for medium to tight gas reservoirs. The dynamics of fluid flow in these types of reservoirs are investigated by way of analytical description and by numerical simulation of radial two phase flow behavior. The analytical model is based on a single phase semi steady-state solution, being revised for two phase flow of gas and condensate oil. As the liquid is dropping out of the gas, a saturation distribution of immovable oil is seen to develop radially in the reservoir with time. Condensed oil not being part of this saturation distribution is produced to the surface. The numerical model is a cylindrical, single well, fine gridded, simulation model run on the Eclipse E300 compositional simulator. The base case study comprises a rich gas condensate fluid (GOR ~ 1000 Sm3/Sm3), an initial gas-in-place volume of 750 MSm3, and reservoir permeability of 10 mD. A gas flow rate of 0.5 MSm3/day is leading to a production period of about 4 years. A comparative study is performed by varying parameters such as pressure development, development of bank of immovable oil both radially and as function of time, condensate blockage effects, and gas and condensate oil production and onset of reduced well deliverability. Sensitivity analysis are performed by studying variation in the productivity index, non-Darcy and mechanical skin, and sensitivities related to permeability. It has been confirmed in this study that condensate blockage has a direct and negative impact on well deliverability, where both the plateau period and the bottom hole pressure are reduced. We also show that the analytical model compares well with the numerical models and that many features describing gas-condensate banking and well deliverability are adequately described in the model. The analytical model also offers insight into the process of reservoir liquid storage in gas condensate reservoirs.

    Opis:
    Purpose: Optimization of formation pressure maintenance technologies in the development of gas condensate fields with a high initial content of condensate in the reservoir gas using numerical modelling. Design/methodology/approach: A study on the efficiency of dry gas injection for pressure maintenance in gas condensate fields was performed with the help of numerical 3D models. Key technological indicators of the reservoir development were calculated for the dry gas injection period of 12, 24, 36, 48, and 60 months. The results are presented as plots for the parameters in a study. Findings: Based on the results of the studies, it was found that the introduction of dry gas injection technology ensures that reservoir pressure is maintained at the highest level compared to the development of gas condensate reservoirs on primary depletion. Due to this, further condensate drop-out in the reservoir is slowed down, and the production of partly already condensed hydrocarbons is ensured by their evaporation into the dry gas injected from the surface. The simulation results indicate that increase in the injection duration period leads to an increase of the cumulative condensate production and hence the final hydrocarbon recovery factor. Research limitations/implications: The heterogeneity of oil and gas deposits, both in terms of area and thickness, significantly affects the efficiency of the developed hydrocarbon enhancement technologies. In order to minimize the negative impact of heterogeneity, it is necessary to conduct additional studies on the conditions of specific reservoirs or fields. Practical implications: The reservoir pressure maintenance technology implementation according to various technological schemes, as well as using various types of injection agents, will significantly intensify the development of depleted gas condensate fields with a high condensate yield. Originality/value: Statistical analysis of the simulation results identified the optimum value of the dry gas injection period into the gas condensate reservoir, which is 34.3 months for the conditions of a given reservoir in the study.

    Natural gas from shales (NGS) and from tight rocks are one of the most important fossil energy resource in this and next decade. Significant increase in gas consumption, in all world regions, will be marked in the energy sector. The exploration of unconventional natural gas & oil reservoirs has been discussed recently in many conferences. This paper describes the complex phenomena related to the impact of adsorption and capillary condensation of gas-condensate systems in nanopores. New two phase saturation model and new algorithm for search capillary condensation area is discussed. The algorithm is based on the Modified Tangent Plane Criterion for Capillary Condensation (MTPCCC) is presented. The examples of shift of phase envelopes are presented for selected composition of gas-condensate systems.
    Gaz ziemny z łupków (NGS) oraz z ze złóż niskoprzepuszczalnych (typu ‘tight’) staje się jednym z najważniejszych zasobów paliw kopalnych, w tym i następnym dziesięcioleciu. Znaczący wzrost zużycia gazu we wszystkich regionach świata zaznacza się głównie w sektorze energetycznym. Rozpoznawanie niekonwencjonalnych złóż gazu ziemnego i ropy naftowej w ostatnim czasie jest omawiane w wielu konferencjach. Niniejszy artykuł opisuje złożone zjawiska związane z wpływem adsorpcji i kapilarnej kondensacji w nanoporach w złożach gazowo-kondensatowych. Pokazano nowy dwufazowy model równowagowy dwufazowy i nowy algorytm wyznaczania krzywej nasycenia w obszarze kondensacji kapilarnej. Algorytm bazuje na kryterium zmodyfikowanym płaszczyzny stycznej dla kapilarnej kondensacji (MTPCCC). Przykłady zmiany krzywych nasycenia są przedstawiane w wybranym składzie systemów gazowo- kondensatowych.

    The domestic gas industry has been set an ambitious goal in the form of a state programme for extensive gasification of Polish cities and towns. This provides for transition of the municipal thermal energy and of the municipal economy to natural gas. Ensuring of reliable and safe transport of the gaseous fuel is also a part of this programme. The article discusses the problems of transporting of the nitrogen-rich natural gas from the local mines, related to water of unknown origin appearing in it. The events that can confirm that there is a possibility of moisture condensation from the gas and its migration deep into the distribution network have been analysed. The actual level of moisture in the natural gas, which is already directly supplied to the consumers, has been experimentally tested. It has been proved by the computer calculations that in the conditions of high pressure in the network, there is a possibility of such condensation, depending on the external atmospheric conditions and physicochemical parameters of the gas. It has been proposed to change the existing designing & construction legal provisions in order to protect the gas networks against water accumulating in them in a better way.
    Gazownictwu krajowemu postawiono ambitny cel w postaci państwowego programu szerokiej gazyfikacji polskich miast i miejscowości. Przewiduje to przestawienie miejskiej energetyki cieplnej i gospodarki komunalnej na gaz ziemny. Nieodzowną częścią tego programu jest także zapewnienie niezawodnego i bezpiecznego transportu paliwa gazowego. W artykule rozpatrzono problemy transportu gazu ziemnego zaazotowanego, pochodzącego z kopalni lokalnych, związane z pojawiającą się w nim wodą niewiadomego pochodzenia. Przeanalizowane zostały zdarzenia, które mogą potwierdzić, iż istnieje możliwości wykraplania się wilgoci z gazu i jej migracji w głąb sieci dystrybucyjnej. Doświadczalnie zbadano faktyczny poziom zawilgocenia w gazie ziemnym, który jest już bezpośrednio dostarczany konsumentom. Udowodniono poprzez komputerowe obliczenia, że w warunkach wysokiego ciśnienia w sieci istnieje możliwość takiego wykraplania, w zależności od zewnętrznych warunków atmosferycznych i fizykochemicznych parametrów gazu.     Opis:
    The potential change of natural gas composition in the near-wel lbore zone creates a big problem with the selection of appropriate initial value of counterpressure exerted by the displacement fluid on reservoir during the test, and also with the interpretation of the reservoir and production tests results. The analysis of the industrial data reveals that the effect of condensate production in the near-wellbore zone could take place while using too high counterpres-sure during DST tests, as a consequence of using a relatively high column of water displacement fluid in the DST column, i.e. about 2500 m. This thesis can be confirmed after further detailed theoretical analysis of the occurring thermodynamic conditions. The paper addresses technological and interpretation problems encountered during drill stem tests (DST) of gas-bearing Devonian strata, on the example of the Stryszawa field in the Western Carpathians. Special attention was paid to the possible changes of gas compo sition during flow tests and the cases of gas condensation of heavier fractions during build-up tests. Attempts were made at explaining sudden drops of pressure at the build-up stage along with the thermodynamic conditions responsible for this effect. The authors explained the necessity of using an appropriate Ful-Flo sampler in the DST set for collecting gas samples at any time of the test, and devices for continuous measurement of temperature. The use of new types of drill stem testers and appropriate interpretation methods, which would account for a detailed analysis of technological and reservoir conditions allows for more efficient oil prospecting and deciding about enhancement methods in hydrocarbon production. The analysis of thermodynamic conditions on the bottom of the wellbore allow s for selecting proper counterpressure values in view of the condensation of heavier gas fractions in the near wellbore rocks. The analysis of conditions in which heavier gas fractions undergo condensation is approximate and general because the gas samples were collected at the outlet of the DST string (in surface conditions), without a Ful-Flo sampler and without temperature measurements.

    The pressure of wet water vapor inside a condenser has a great impact on the efficiency of thermal cycle. The value of this pressure depends on the mass share of inert gases (air). The knowledge of the spots where the air accumulates allows its effective extraction from the condenser, thus improving the conditions of condensation. The condensation of water vapor with the share of inert gas in a model tube bank of a condenser has been analyzed in this paper. The models include a static pressure loss of the water vapor/air mixture and the resultant changes in the water vapor parameters. The mass share of air in water vapor was calculated using the Dalton’s law. The model includes changes of flow and thermodynamic parameters based on the partial pressure of water vapor utilizing programmed water vapor tables. In the description of the conditions of condensation the Nusselts theory was applied. The model allows for a deterioration of the heat flow conditions resulting from the presence of air. The paper contains calculations of the water vapor flow with the initial mass share of air in the range 0.2 to 1%. The results of calculations clearly show a great impact of the share of air on the flow conditions and the deterioration of the conditions of condensation. The data obtained through the model for a given air/water vapor mixture velocity upstream of the tube bank allow for identification of the spots where the air accumulates.
