Opis:
This paper presents the preliminary tests of an adapted user interface that performs an hybrid fuzzy-Deformable Virtual Zone(DVZ) pilot. The proposed concept uses a safely guidance algorithm for the powered wheelchair user and a laser range sensor to avoid collision. An adapted user interface is developed so that the accessibility and the mobility of disable or aged people especially those suffering from low cognitive abilities will be enhanced. Trials with the proposed algorithm detected obstacles and avoid them in 80% of trials with different objects and generated safe paths for the interface user.

Opis:
In this article, a novel nature-inspired autonomous guidance is investigated regarding the honey bee motion algorithm for aerial robots and fuzzy logic. Combination of the bee al- gorithm and fuzzy logic is proposed to achieve an on-line guidance for methodology of this research. The main idea of this work belongs to a novel analogy between honey bees and aerial robots motions. Moreover, information links between the aerial robots are demon- strated to construct a formation of vehicles by updating motions based on fuzzy decision making. Three dimensional simulations for the aerial robots are considered to show the ef- ficient performance of autonomous guidance. The simulation results show precise ability of the proposed method for aerospace and robotics engineers based on a nature phenomenon to present an innovative guidance method.

Opis:
Promoting the use of public transport is increasingly urgent in our society, both to reduce traffic congestion, air pollution and stress levels, and to ensure the high level of mobility demanded by citizens. The lack of continuous on-trip assistance for public transport users discourages many travellers. Thus, the main objective of this work is to design a personal digital travel companion for outdoor location and event detection based on Bluetooth Low Energy, which can be used for intelligent transport technology. After analysing the functional requirements, the proposal is implemented as a mobile application for beacon-based event detection. The system includes an algorithm aided by fuzzy logic to determine the action to be carried out by the user at all times, being able to distinguish between different possible events when more than one beacon is detected. To defend the scheme against possible attacks based on beacon forgery or user tracking, the proposal includes different forms of authentication for data sent from beacons and data sent from the mobile application. The results obtained in simulations show that the proposed system is a viable guidance solution for public transport, including energy saving as one of its main advantages.

Opis:
While a genuine abundance of biomedical data available nowadays becomes a genuine blessing, it also posses a lot of challenges. The two fundamental and commonly occurring directions in data analysis deal with its supervised or unsupervised pursuits. Our conjecture is that in the area of biomedical data processing and understanding where we encounter a genuine diversity of patterns, problem descriptions and design objectives, this type of dichotomy is neither ideal nor the most productive. In particular, the limitations of such taxonomy become profoundly evident in the context of unsupervised learning. Clustering (being usually regarded as a synonym of unsupervised data analysis) is aimed at determining a structure in a data set by optimizing a given partition criterion. In this sense, a structure emerges (becomes formed) without a direct intervention of the user. While the underlying concept looks appealing, there are numerous sources of domain knowledge that could be effectively incorporated into clustering mechanisms and subsequently help navigate throughout large data spaces. In unsupervised learning, this unified treatment of data and domain knowledge leads to the general concept of what could be coined as knowledge-based clustering. In this study, we discuss the underlying principles of this paradigm and present its various methodological and algorithmic facets. In particular, we elaborate on the main issues of incorporating domain knowledge into the clustering environment such as (a) partial labelling, (b) referential labelling (including proximity and entropy constraints), (c) usage of conditional (navigational) variables, (d) exploitation of external structure. Presented are also concepts of stepwise clustering in which the structure of data is revealed via a series of refinements of existing domain granular information.
