Opis:: The text defi nes such notions as culture, cultural studies, fundamental sciences, and culturalism. It argues that cultural studies are fundamental sciences in three important senses: 1) theoretical (the object of research of science has its inevitable cultural dimension), 2) practical (the ability to manipulate signs, symbols, information and other products of culture is crucial in the age of cognitive capitalism), and also 3) axiological (in the context of contemporary ecological risks we cannot aim at further conquest of Nature, but we should rather try to understand mechanisms shaping various spheres of culture: economics, religion, tradition, art, politics and science).

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje kilka modeli łączności teologii i nauk w perspektywie teologicznofundamentalnej. Pozwalają one bez mieszania metod na interdyscyplinarne badanie i wyjaśnianie niektórych fenomenów oraz unikanie uproszczeń niektórych wniosków filozofii nauki. Zastosowana kategoria modelu unika jednostronności relacji – albo irenicznego dialogu, albo konfrontacyjnej opozycji. Poprzez wprowadzenie kategorii pomocniczej, wokół której zbudowany został konkretny model, uzyskano możliwość wzajemnego uzupełniania się teologii i nauk oraz budowania szerszej płaszczyzny racjonalności. Niektóre modele mogą okazać się użyteczne przy rozwiązywaniu ważnych problemów współczesności. Przedstawione zostały modele: prakseologiczny, ancilla theologiae, personalistyczny i teologii nauki.
This paper presents a couple of models linking theology and science from an fundamental theological perspective. The idea to write such an article was generated from the lectures of Prof. W. Grygiel who represents the M. Heller’s school of philosophy of science. The purpose of this overview aims at showing multiple means of perceiving the relation between theology and science, which may be used in achieving both theological and scientific outcomes without mixing the proper methodology. The article consists of five points. It begins with two main tendencies in the background of creating new models: the dialogical and apological ones that come from the fundamental theological point of view. The next parts describe the following models: praxeological, ancilla theologiae, personalistic and theology of science. Each model was appraised according to its strong and weak points.

Opis:: The article takes the issue of the image of God in the perspective of the relationships between faith and science. The structure of the article determines the three kinds of relationships between them. The first two are relations of conflict resulting on the one hand from the supremacy of faith over science, on the other - the reduction of faith by science. The third group of relations is the positions of dialogue and integration. Each relationship casts on the image of God. The consequence of the supremacy of faith over the science is the understanding of God as a distant, unknownable, inaccessible to man, and on the other as a tyrant who does not respect the autonomy, freedom and dignity of his creation. In the reduction of faith by science the image of God is twofold. On the one hand, God is reduced to the role of physics premise and assumption of the mechanics of the universe or to the Newtonian Watchmaker, and on the other is by science rejected as an unnecessary assumption. These claims of science are, however, included in the materialistic and atheistical position and going beyond their competences. The positions of dialogue and integration show that not only is no conflict between faith and science, but also that the results of science are the basis for a credible understanding of God’s image, which is consistent with his biblical image.
