Opis:
The article presents the results of analysis of failures of the main functional systems units of aircraft Boeing 737 during the last 10 years of its operation in the national airline of Latvia ‘Air Baltic Corporation’. Total flight time was TΣ = 322,529 h and 184,538 cycles [1]. These data were obtained from daily reports of defects and unplanned consumption of spare parts for these systems. Failures of instrumental equipment of avionic systems were investigated in detail. Based on calculations of their failure probability and component replacement frequency, a comprehensive system including measures and their technical and instrumental support has been developed to improve maintenance productivity. Such a system requires relatively inexpensive components, is simple and can be used in the operation of this type of aircraft.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę funkcjonowania wybranych urządzeń energochłonnych na sieci dróg w Polsce oraz ocenę funkcjonowania urządzenia energochłonnego SafeEnd (U-15a). Zaprezentowano wyniki badań poligonowych i symulacyjnych funkcjonowania tego urządzenia, jako zakończenia barier (terminali) oraz jako osłon energochłonnych. Przeprowadzone analizy posłużyły do opracowania charakterystyki funkcjonowania analizowanych urządzeń w różnych warunkach terenowych (parametry projektowe w planie dla łącznicy) i ruchowych (prędkość i kąt uderzenia pojazdu). Na tej podstawie opracowano zasady projektowania i rekomendacje do stosowania tych urządzeń na drogach w Polsce.
The paper presents an analysis of the functioning of selected energy absorbing devices on the road network in Poland and an assessment of the functioning of the SafeEnd energy absorbing device (U-15a). Then the results of field and simulation crash tests of the functioning of this device as the end of barriers (terminals) and as crash cushions are presented. The conducted analyses were used to develop the characteristics of the functioning of the analysed devices in various conditions (radius, design parameters in the plan for the ramps) and traffic conditions (speed and angle of vehicle impact). On this basis, design rules and recommendations for the use of these devices on roads in Poland were developed.

Competition on the market forces companies to improve their effectiveness. Thus, every company uses various IT management systems to operate in a more efficient and competitive way. The purpose of IT systems that are implemented in companies is to accomplish their business processes. Business processes are a network of interrelated activities, procedures and tasks that are performed either sequentially or parallelly to transform inputs into outputs that are expected by customers. The article presents business processes in a present-day company that are accomplished with the use of integrated IT systems. The article also includes an assessment of the use of IT systems in business processes.

Every day the architecture expands its borders and opportunities. In meeting the challenges of commercial office buildings designing, which include not only the aesthetic and functional aspects, the efficiency problem of their exploitation becomes more actual, including resource conservation, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, environmental protection, safety (the fire, terrorism, natural disaster, etc.), comfortable working conditions, reduced operating expenses and economy. The regulatory and legal framework that ensures the development of intelligent buildings (IBs) and the establishment of automatic control systems in office buildings in the USA, Europe and Asia are analysed in the article. Based on the trends of the office buildings development, the main influencing factors of the automated control systems on the formation of intellectual and administrative buildings are identified and based on which a new vector of digital, dynamic and transformative architecture is selected.

Even the best technology will be ineffective if not used appropriately, therefore education and training about cybersecurity principles and programs are essential components of any cybersecurity strategy. This article presents selected models of the decision support theory from the point of view of cybersecurity education. The analysis of scientific literature and the available research results serve as a base to characterize approaches to raise the awareness of decision-makers about potential cyber threats and the development of appropriate attitudes and the conscious use of information systems and digital resources. The main part of the article is devoted to the issue of the use of teaching methods to increase the involvement of learners. It also describes examples of selected models of the game theory used in IT security education, including examples of simulation games dedicated to decision-making in the domain of IT security.

This article first presents Environmental Life-Cycle Analysis (E-LCA) as a complete learning experience for university students of environmental science/engineering, enabling the acquisition of the four levels of knowledge, of the Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO) taxonomy. The four steps of an E-LCA, interestingly, mirror the hierarchy of knowledge-levels defined by the SOLO taxonomy. In the light of the fact that it is generally difficult to accomplish this ascent from declarative knowledge to functional knowledge, in a systematic manner, in many university courses, the complete learning experience guaranteed by E-LCA must stand out conspicuously.
W artykule przedstawiono środowiskową ocenę cyklu życia (E-LCA) traktowaną jako kompletne doświadczenie edukacyjne dla studentów uczelni wyższych kierunków nauki o środowisku/inżynieria, pozwalające na zdobycie wiedzy na czterech poziomach ze Struktury Obserwowanych Efektów Kształcenia (SOLO). Cztery kroki E-LCA, odzwierciedlają hierarchię poziomów wiedzy z klasyfikacji SOLO. Wobec faktu, że ogólnie rzecz biorąc trudno jest osiągnąć przejście z wiedzy deklaratywnej do funkcjonalnej, w kwestiach systematycznych, dla wielu kursów uniwersyteckich, pełne doświadczenie edukacyjne gwarantowane przez E-LCA zdecydowanie się wyróżnia.

This report addresses selected methodological aspects of proactive reliability, functional safety and cyber security management in life cycle of industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in hazardous plants and oil port critical installations based on the analysis of relevant hazards / threats and evaluation of related risks. In addition the insurance company point of view has been also considered, because nowadays the insurer, interested in decreasing risks to be insured, offers the expertise how to limit effectively risks in life cycle from the design conceptual stage of hazardous plant, through its reliable and safe operation, until decommissioning. Therefore, the risk evaluation model for insurance related decision making for the period considered, e.g. one year, should be plant specific with some predictive properties due to changing environment and business conditions, and usually considerable uncertainty involved. The objective is to evaluate and mitigate risks, and control them proactively, through undertaking appropriate activities within a process based management system according to elaborated policy and strategy that includes organisational and technical aspects, including preventive maintenance activities of sensitive equipment and updating in time the training programmes. Careful evaluating and controlling risks is also crucial for the insurance company. Basic activities of the risk engineers and underwriters in the insurance process are outlined in the context of identified hazards/threats and defined factors that significantly influence risks to be considered in evaluating the insurance premium in the context of terms and conditions specified.

The work is devoted important issues of the management in maritime critical infrastructure of functional safety analysis, in particular the safety integrity level (SIL) verification of safety functions to be implemented within the distributed control and protection systems with regard to cyber security aspects. A method based on quantitative and qualitative information is proposed for the SIL (IEC 61508, 61511) verification with regard of the evaluation assurance levels (EAL) (ISO/IEC 15408), the security assurance levels (SAL) (IEC 62443), and the number of protection rings described in the Secure Safety (SeSa-SINTEF) methodology. The proposed approach will be composed of the following items: process and procedure based safety and cyber security management, integrated safety and security assessment of industrial control system (ICS) of the maritime critical infrastructure. Proposed methodology is illustrated on case study that based on the part of installation critical maritime infrastructure.

This article addresses integrated functional safety and cybersecurity analysis with regard to: the generic functional safety standard IEC 61508 and the cyber security standard IEC 62443 concerning an industrial automation and control system (IACS). The objective is to mitigate the vulnerability of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems, and reduce relevant risks taking into account a set of fundamental requirements (FRs). A method is proposed for determining and verifying the performance level (PL) or the safety integrity level (SIL) of defined safety functions, and then validating these levels depending on the security level (SL) of a particular domain,e.g.a safety related control system (SRCS). The method is general in the sense that it is based on risk graphs prepared for individual risk and/or societal/group risk with regard to the criteria defined.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja rozwiązań z zakresu inteligentnych systemów transportowych wykorzystywanych w Szczecinie. Miasto Szczecin ze względu na położenie i występujące w nim szlaki komunikacyjne jest ważnym elementem krajowego systemu transportu. Zadaniem miasta jest zapewnienie wszystkim użytkownikom sprawnego przemieszczania się nie zapominając o zachowaniu zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju. Sposobem na spełnienie tych celów jest wdrażanie inteligentnych systemów transportowych. Przedmiotem badań zaprezentowanych w artykule są funkcjonujące w Szczecinie wybrane podsystemy inteligentnego systemu transportowego. Analizy dokonano poprzez weryfikację informacji przekazywanych przez tablice zmiennej treści.
The aim of the article is to present solutions in the field of intelligent transport systems used in Szczecin. The city of Szczecin, due to its location and communication routes, is an important element of the national transport system. The city's task is to provide all users with efficient mobility, not forgetting to maintain the principles of sustainable development. The way to meet these goals is the implementation of intelligent transport systems. The subject of the research presented in the article are the selected subsystems of the intelligent transport system operating in Szczecin. The analysis was made by verifying information provided by Variable Message Signs.

Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje analizę sprawności funkcjonowania wybranych elementów ITS w Szczecinie. Analizie poddano System Zarządzania Komunikacją Miejską dla Miasta Szczecina i aglomeracji szczecińskiej poprzez porównanie biletu elektronicznego z tradycyjnym oraz przydatności urządzeń pozwalających na przekazywanie informacji dla pasażerów w czasie rzeczywistym. Wyżej wymienione systemy wdrażane są na terenie Szczecina od 2015 roku.
This article introduces results of the analysis of functioning of selected ITS elements in Szczecin. The analysed system was the City Transport Management System for the City of Szczecin and the Szczecin agglomeration. In the research authors comparing the e-ticket with the traditional one and the suitability of information devices allowing the passengers to collect real time information related to the travel. The above-mentioned systems have been implemented in Szczecin since 2015.

Autorzy zaprezentowani w artykule metody ewaluacji wydajności użytkowej symulatorów pojazdów. Tworzonych jest wiele rozwiązań symulacyjnych, a w kontekście różnych wymagań dotyczących jakości symulacji, niezwykle trudno jest definiować wymagania i twórcy rozwiązań nie zawsze osiągają oczekiwane efekty w związku z ograniczeniami budżetowymi. Artykuł przedstawia metodę ewaluacji parametrów funkcjonalnych symulatorów pojazdów. Autorzy zdecydowali się również poprzez przeprowadzenie porównawczych badań eksperymentalnych, podjąć próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, który z obecnie stosowanych systemów projekcji powoduje w mniejszym stopniu występowanie choroby symulatorowej podczas treningu. Artykuł zawiera przydatne informacje zarówno dla twórców jak i użytkowników symulatorów pojazdów.
Authors presented in the paper the method of evaluation of operational performance vehicle simulators. Number of simulation solutions are created in conjunction with the various requirements for the quality of simulation make the audience it is difficult to define requirements and the authors do not always reach desired effects due to budget constraints. The paper presents the idea for the evaluations of the functional parameters of vehicle simulators. Authors decided also to make an attempt to give the preliminary answer to a question which from studied projection systems causes lesser degree of symptoms of simulator sickness during training by conducting experimental comparition studies. Paper contains essential information both for creators and consumers of such solutions.

In the last decades, due to the increasing level of stress, the study of different de-pressive states and search for morpho-functional and genetic markers of depression have become important for modern society. This article is an interdisciplinary study of morpho-functional characteristics and variability of genes in the neurotransmitter systems (HTR1A and SLC6A3) in young men and women with the expression of depressive symptoms. The materials used include: morpho-functional characteristics (height, weight, body circumferences, skinfold thickness in the trunk and the extremities, and characte-ristics of cardiovascular and respiratory systems); evaluation of depression symptoms performed with the Beck questionnaire; determination of polymorphisms of the HTR1A and SLC6A3 genes for 372 students from the cities of Samara and Saransk (170 men and 202 women aged 16-23, predominantly of Russian ethnicity. The results obtained are as follows: young men and women with depression symptoms are characterized by significantly different morpho-functional characteristics (p<0.05), lower adiposity and abdominal skinfold thickness, as well as a relatively higher specific metabolic rate. No differences in the frequencies of the genotypes of the neurotransmitter systems genes (DAT1, HTR1A) were found between the groups of students with or without depression symptoms. Differences in the number of individuals with the presence of depression symptoms were revealed (p<0.05) in relation to gender: these symptoms were twice as high in women (14%) as in men (7%).
W ostatnich dziesięcioleciach, ze względu na rosnący poziom stresu, badania nad różnymi stanami depresyjnymi i poszukiwanie morfofunkcjonalnych i genetycznych markerów depresji stają się coraz ważniejsze dla współczesnego społeczeństwa. Celem niniejszej pracy jest interdyscyplinarne badanie cech morfofunkcjonalnych i zmienności genów w układach neuroprzekaźników (HTR1A i SLC6A3) u młodych mężczyzn i kobiet z objawami depresyjnymi. Materiał: cechy morfofunkcjonalne (wysokość i masa, obwody ciała i grubości fałdów skórnych na tułowiu i kończynach, charakterystyka układu sercowo-naczyniowego i oddechowego); ocena objawów depresji za pomocą kwestionariusza Becka; określenie polimorfizmów genów HTR1A i SLC6A3 dla 372 uczniów z miast Samara i Sarańsk (170 mężczyzn i 202 kobiety w wieku 16 do 23 lat, głównie pochodzenia rosyjskiego). Wyniki: młode kobiety i mężczyźni z obecnością stanu depresyjnego charakteryzują się zmiennie odmiennymi cechami morfofunkcjonalnymi (p< 0, 05); mniejszą otyłością i grubością fałdów skórnych brzucha, względnie wyższą specyficzną przemianą materii. Nie stwierdzono różnic w częstości genotypów genów systemów nerwowych (DAT1, HTR1A) pomiędzy grupami uczniów z objawami depresji lub bez nich. Różnice między płciami w liczbie osób z objawami depresji zostały pokazane (p< 0, 05); objawy te były dwukrotnie wyższe u kobiet (14%) niż u mężczyzn (7%).

Opis:
Cognitive engineering is considered nowadays as interesting multidisciplinary domain that focuses on improving the relations between humans and the systems that are supervised and operated. The industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in hazardous plants are increasingly computerized and perform various safety functions. These are designed and implemented according to the functional safety concept. The objective is to maintain high performance / productivity and reduce various risks related to identified hazards and threats. An approach is proposed to apply selected cognitive engineering methods for verifying the design of the functional safety technology implemented in given hazardous plant in context of defined safety functions, operator interfaces, communication means and procedures. The methodology developed might be applied for functional safety management in life cycle of industrial hazardous plants and oil port terminals.
