Opis:
A mathematical model to analyse the influence of change of the friction power over time on temperature of a pad-disc tribosystem has been proposed. For this purpose, a boundary- -value problem of heat conduction for two semi-infinite bodies with taking into account heat generation due to friction on the contact surface has been formulated. Exact solutions of this problem were obtained for seven temporal profiles of the specific heat generation power, which were established experimentally. For selected friction materials, numerical analysis of the spatiotemporal temperature distributions and heat fluxes intensities were executed. The obtained results were compared with a corresponding data which were found by means of the known approximate solution.

This paper presents the technical state identification of rolling bearings by the quasi - dynamic method, where a physical pendulum was used as an investigative tool. For the presented method, the attributes of the diagnostic signal were distinguished. The attributes enable evaluation of the technical state of a rolling bearing over repairing. The coefficient of resistance to motion of a bearing was used as a generalized diagnostic parameter and power and moment of friction were used as a wear measure of a rolling bearing.
W pracy przedstawiono sposób identyfikacji stanu technicznego łożysk tocznych, metodą quasi-dynamiczną w której jako narzędzie badawcze zastosowano wahadła fizyczne. Dla prezentowanej metody wyróżniono cechy sygnału diagnostycznego umożliwiającego ocenę stanu technicznego łożyska tocznego na etapie naprawy. W artykule wskazano na współczynnik oporu ruchu łożyska jako uogólniony parametr diagnostyczny oraz na moc i moment tarcia jako miarę intensywności zużycia łożyska tocznego.

This paper determines the new results of experimental research due to the hydrodynamic friction forces identification using acoustic emission method The results are connected with the dependences between hydrodynamic friction forces in slide journal bearings, angular velocities of the journal, bearing load and Sommerfeld numbers. These measurements were performed by using the Acoustic Emission Method for basic oil and for Lotos oil on the test stand at Gdynia Maritime University. After Authors knowledge the presented results obtained for basic oil and Lotos oil are similar with the analogous own results which were presented for Castrol oil in papers of the author’s which are published one year ago. The results are discussed and compared with other new results obtained in experiments performed at the University of Applied Sciences Giessen / Germany.
Niniejsza praca przedstawia nowe rezultaty badań doświadczalnych autora, wykonanych na stanowisku badawczym w Akademii Morskiej w Gdyni a dotyczących identyfikacji sił tarcia występujących w tarciu płynnym łożyska ślizgowego metodą emisji akustycznej. Badania te polegają na doświadczalnym wyznaczeniu zależności pomiędzy siłami tarcia występującymi w poprzecznym łożysku ślizgowym podczas jego eksploatacji a prędkością kątową wału łożyskowego, obciążeniem łożyska, a także liczbami Sommerfelda. Takie pomiary zostały przeprowadzone przy wykorzystaniu emisji akustycznej dla oleju bazowego oraz dla oleju Lotos. Według informacji autorów niniejsze rezultaty badań uzyskane dla oleju bazowego oraz dla oleju Lotos są porównywalne z analogicznymi wynikami pomiarów uzyskanych i opublikowanych przez autorów rok temu przy użyciu oleju Castrol. Niniejsze rezultaty badań zostały również porównane z wynikami badań przeprowadzonymi przez autorów w Uniwersytecie Nauk Stosowanych w Giessen w Niemczech.

In this paper analytical solutions of the thermal problems of friction were received. The appropriate boundary-value problems of heat conduction were formulated and solved for a homogeneous semi–space (a brake disc) heated on its free surface by frictional heat fluxes with different and time-dependent intensities. Solutions were obtained in dimensionless form using Duhamel's theorem. Based on received solutions, evolution and spatial distribution of the dimensionless temperature were analyzed using numerical methods. The numerical results allowed to determine influence of the time distribution of friction power on the spatio-temporal temperature distribution in brake disc.

In this paper influence of temporal profile of the specific friction power (i.e. the product of the coefficient of friction, sliding velocity and contact pressure) on thermal stresses in a friction element during braking was investigated. Spatio-temporal distributions of thermal stresses were analytically determined for a subsurface layer of the friction element, based on the model of thermal bending of a thick plate with unfixed edges (Timoshenko and Goodier, 1970). To conduct calculations, the fields of dimensionless temperature were used. These fields were received in the article (Topczewska, 2017) as solutions to a one-dimensional boundary-value problem of heat conduction for a semi-space heated on its outer surface by fictional heat flux with three, different time profiles of the friction power.

The influence of the change with time of friction power on thermal stresses in a friction element of a brake system is investigated. For this purpose, a list of ten different temporal profiles of specific friction power is used, which has been experimentally established for a single braking process. The corresponding profiles of transient temperature fields in the considered element are applied as input parameters to find quasi-static thermal stresses. Numerical analysis concerned with spatio-temporal distributions of the stresses and their evolutions on the heated surface is presented.

In the article, a novel test rig for determining the friction losses of modern turbocharger is presented. The friction torque of the bearing of turbocharger can be measured direct and stationary at any speed up to 100,000 min–1 by the friction test rig developed by the Ostfalia, University of Applied Science (UAS). Since 2010, over 50 turbochargers were measured on the test bench in extensive measurement series. The results give valuable and new insights of the influence of the next parameters on the bearing friction losses: oil temperature, oil pressure, thrust force and oil flow rate. Furthermore, a comparison between the different bearing types (semi-floating, full floating and ball bearings) was performed. The main observations and results are discussed in the scientific article.

The article concerns friction problems in the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with a pushbelt or a chain. A small test bench is prepared with the aim to expand knowledge about friction phenomena which occur in the CVT between steel belt elements and pulleys. The literature explains this problem not sufficiently. After short theoretical introduction, the paper contains a description of the test bench and its correlation to the real CVT gearbox as it is in a car. Afterwards the initial test results are presented and completed with some remarks. At the end, summary and conclusion are defined.

The paper analyzes force parameters in the process of multistage drawing of steel wires in conventional and hydrodynamic dies. The drawing process of the wire rod with a diameter of 5.5 mm for wires with a diameter of 1.70 mm was performed in 12 drafts with the usage of the multistage drawbench Koch KGT with the speed range of 5-25 m/s. Modern software of multistage drawbenches allows direct reading of many parameters during the drawing process, including drawing power. The force and drawing stress in each drafts were determined relying on experimental measurements. A complement to the research was a theoretical analysis of the drawing process. The results of the theoretical studies were compared to those obtained by experiment. The significant impact of the drawing speed on the force parameters of the drawing process in conventional and hydrodynamic dies was demonstrated. Depending on the real conditions of the drawing, ie. temperature, friction and lubrication, enhancing the drawing speed can result in both an increase and a decrease in drawing stress.

Sprawność przekładni zębatej w znaczącym stopniu zależy od strat mocy generowanych w zazębieniach, łożyskowaniach i uszczelnieniach. Wielkość tych strat jest uzależniona od tarcia w wymienionych węzłach przekładni określonych m.in. przez ich cechy konstrukcyjne i warunki smarowania. W opracowaniu przedstawiono wyniki numerycznej analizy strat mocy w zazębieniu przekładni walcowej w funkcji przełożenia, liczby zębów koła czynnego, modułu zazębienia oraz klasy lepkości oleju smarującego.
Efficiency of gear depends, in significant measure, on power losses that occur in meshing, bearing and sealing. An amount of these losses depends on friction conditions in the named nodes of gear design, and it is defined generally by means of lubrication. In the paper, there are the presented results of the numerical analysis of power losses in meshing heavy loaded gears with an involute profile of teeth in the function of basic constructional parameters and in the function of the viscosity of lubricant.

In this paper, the author presents the results of numerical calculations of load carrying capacities and friction forces in the gap of the slide journal bearing lubricated with an oil on the non-Newtonian's properties. In the studies, the power-law model has been assumed to describe the relationship between the stress tensors and shear rate tensors. The analytical and numerical calculations have been performed for the plain bearing, non-porous with a full wrap angle. It has been assumed isothermal, laminar and steady flow of lubricant in the gap of a slide bearing. Numerical calculations have been performed for the Gumbel’s boundary conditions and dimensionless lengths of the bearings like L=b/R =2;1.5;1; ½ and ¼. The flow-rate index and coefficient of consistency have been adopted based on the results of experimental studies of changes of dynamic viscosity in terms of a shear rate. It has been assumed that the apparent viscosity depends only on the shear rate. Dynamic viscosity of the engine oil, used in a gasoline engine with a capacity of 1800 cm3, has been tested on the Haake Mars III rheometer. The analytical solutions presented in the paper were based on more general derivations carried out by Professor K. Wierzcholski in his article: ‘Non-linear hydrodynamic lubrication in conjugated fields’ (publication in printing). In this paper, the key quantities such as components of vector of the velocity, hydrodynamic pressure and temperature were presented in the form of convergent power series. The values of load carrying capacities and friction forces were determined and compared for the event where the oil has properties of Newtonian and non-Newtonian. Calculations have been made for the dimensionless quantities.

The present paper is dedicated to discuss how dynamic parameters of a hydraulic line intended to transfer hydraulic power from a source of hydraulic power (a hydraulic pump) to an actuating device (a hydraulic motor) can affect operation of an avionic hydraulic drive. Avionic hydraulic drives are operated with fast-varying waveforms of flow intensities and pressures. It is why analysis of most hydraulic drive systems must take account of compressibility of working fluid and elasticity of hydraulic lines. It leads to a wave model for propagation of energy variation down a hydraulic line (a pipe). The paper deals with flow of a compressible liquid via a hydraulic line with flexible walls. Theoretical deliberations were successfully verified by experimental research studies that were carried out on a dedicated test bench, therefore the presented amplitude vs. frequency characteristic curves of the hydraulic line could be obtained from both theoretical considerations and experimental research studied. The experimental research studies were carried out for hydraulic line terminated with a fixed flow restrictor alone and a flow restrictor combined with a hydraulic accumulator as well as for a hydraulic line supplied from a source of constant pressure and terminated with a valve with adjustable flow together with a hydraulic accumulator. The theoretical calculations for the amplitude vs. frequency characteristic curve are based on a model for a hydraulic line with its resistance depending on frequency.

This paper presents the results of a hydraulic line dynamic properties analysis taking into account inertia of the fluid flowing in rigid and flexible lines, the compressibility effect for this fluid and the viscous friction effect. The following are described and analyzed: solution of the wave equation in the form binding four variables: pressure and flow rate at the line input, and pressure and flow rate and the line output; two of the above-mentioned variables should be regarded as independent (input) and the other two as dependent (output), the accuracy comparison of distributed parameters model to lumped parameters model with regard to applicability range in hydraulic systems analysis, pressure value at given installation points as a response to rapid valve closing (transient response) or to valve opening (waterhammer effect). In these considerations the hydraulic line is regarded as a two-port with two inputs and two outputs with a definite transmittance matrix. Main considerations concern the variable resistance model. A general solution is given as a function of the Laplace operator. Introducing appropriate simplifications into the variable resistance model, the constant resistance model and lossless line model is obtained. Also, general solutions for three different lump parameter models are presented. For the lumped parameters lin presents three equivalent models possible, i.e. as: a symmetrical two-port, a two-port with shared resistance and a two-port with capacitance at the output.

The paper presents the influence of modification with phosphorus (CuP10) on the tribological properties of the alloy AlSi17Cu5Mg coupled abrasively with cast-iron EN GJL-350. Tests of coefficient of friction and wear of mass were conducted on tribological tester T-01. An important aspect in the assessment of the tribological properties is the analysis of initial material microstructure in reference to silumin which underwent modification with phosphorus. It was found that the difference in structure of tested materials, mainly sizes of primary silicon crystals significantly influences the tribological properties whereas the speed change of the friction knot does not have such big influence.

W artykule podjęto zagadnienie odwzorowania przebiegu obciążenia wnoszonego przez mechanizmy urządzeń mechatronicznych małej mocy. Wskazano na wpływ zachowań hamulców elektromaszynowych i elektromagnetycznych ciernych, stosowanych do tych zadań, na dokładność odwzorowania oczekiwanego przebiegu zmian wartości momentu obrotowego w trakcie badań doświadczalnych. Przedstawiono charakterystyczne ich zachowania. Sformułowano zakres czynności, które powinien podjąć eksperymentator dokonując wyboru zespołu obciążającego do stanowiska badawczego układów napędowych małej mocy pracujących w stanach nieustalonych.
The paper considers a problem of representing the course of load introduced by mechanisms of low-power mechatronic devices. There is shown the influence of the behaviour of electro-machine and electromagnetic friction brakes used for these purposes on the accuracy of representing the course of torque fluctuations expected during experimental studies. Specific features and behaviour of these brakes are presented. In the case of electromagnetic friction brakes, the course of fluctuations of the developed friction torque is influenced, besides variations of the value of the excitation current, by processes taking place within the magnetic circuit, especially within the powder film (wear products) located in its gap. Representation of load value quick variations enables usage of plate brakes. Correct selection of the friction unit material limits the wear of friction surfaces in this kind of brakes. In the case of applying electromagnetic units as a load, an influence of the rotational speed on the value of the developed torque has to be taken into consideration: for DC motors it is a linear dependency, and for eddy current and hysteresis brakes - a nonlinear dependency. Use of DC motors is connected with the developed torque minimal value, below which they cannot be used in experimental stations. On the other hand, in the case of using eddy current and hysteresis brakes, a significant value of the moment of inertia is introduced, putting an additional load on the tested drive unit. Furthermore, there is defined the scope of activities that should be undertaken while choosing a loading unit to be used in an experimental station for low-power drive systems operating in transient states.
