Opis:
The article presents the results of experimental research and simulation analyses of the influence of slip velocity, normal pressures and vibration frequency on the effectiveness of friction force reduction carried out in sliding motion in the presence of forced tangential vibrations. In experimental studies, changes in the driving force were measured during the slip of the upper body over the vibrating lower body. The direction of these vibrations was parallel both to the contact plane and to the direction of movement of the shifted body. The simulation tests were carried out in the Matlab/Simulink environment through the use of numerical procedures that were specially created for this purpose. Dynamic friction models considering the tangential compliance of contact and the phenomenon of pre-sliding displacement were used for calculations. The paper presents the designated values of the so-called coefficient of average friction force reduction in sliding motion for the following friction pairs: steel C45–steel C45, steel C45–cast iron GGG40 and steel C45–polytetrafluoroethy-lene PTFE (Teflon). The results of numerical analyses were in good agreement with those of experimental tests. A significant dependence of the level of average friction force reduction on the frequency of forced vibrations, sliding velocity as well as the kind of sliding pair material, and normal pressures was shown.

Opis:
One of the most important parameters specifying the usability of the miniaturised electrohydraulic servomechanism includes a static friction degree in its slide pairs, i.e. resistance of the slider’s movement from rest after some time of its staying at rest under pressure. Therefore, at the stage of designing and construction of the electrohydraulic servomechanism, it is important to determine the greatest static friction degree, which may arise in the slider hydraulic pair of this device during its operation. The objective of this article is to present a method for estimating the maximum static friction values in the slide pair based on the extreme value theory. The operation and loading conditions of the slide pair of the electrohydraulic servomechanism for the unmanned aircraft control system were described. The procedure for estimating the maximum static friction degree in the slide pair with the use of the extreme and probabilistic grid was presented. The extreme and probabilistic grid structure was based on the Gumbel probability graph. The graphic presentation of results of the static friction experimental studies in the slide pair on the extreme and probabilistic grid was discussed. By using the graphics method, the empirical dependence of the static friction force in the slide pair on the working fluid pressure in the hydraulic drive (loading conditions) was determined. A practical example of estimating the maximum values of the static friction force that may occur in the slider hydraulic pair of the miniaturized electrohydraulic servomechanism is shown.

The article presents the determination of an exemplary measure in the assessment of the technical state of sets of mechanical objects at the stage of manufacture, use and maintenance. The technical state of the assemblies is influenced by the quality of the friction-cooperating elements, the quality of basic functions, the surroundings and the diameter clearance of kinematic node components. Energy wasted to overcome the frictional resistance is a significant part of the energy supplied, which is why current friction losses are minimized. The article includes analysis of the phenomena occurring in the cylindrical pairs in the presence of static and kinetic friction. The many factors affecting the course and values of friction force between cylindrical elements performing relative reciprocating motion have been indicated. The subject of the article is the method of measuring the friction force between a fixed and movable cylindrical element of the mechanical object. The gradual increase of the friction force component takes place by means of easily accessible force. The results of experimental tests of the friction force in different laboratory conditions under are also included. The effect on the measured friction force was investigated: of friction elements geometry and the surface condition after manufacture and/or operation. Scatter results of static friction force depending on the geometry and surface state can be significant. Examples of surface state images are shown. A friction force model was also developed depending on factors affecting its value.

Opis:
There is an important operational parameter in the case of sliding bearings are friction forces and coefficient of friction. It depends on how much proportions of heat in the gap of the oil film from the value of the friction force. Ferrofluid lubricated sliding bearings have specific structure and are suitable only for use in specific cases. We may use them in the absence of gravity, vacuum, or in case of strong magnetic fields or radioactive. Maintenance of lubricant in the oil-gap as well as the viscosity change occurs through controlling of the external magnetic field. Change of the value of viscosity and mass forces (magnetic forces) in the equation of momentum depends on the concentration of magnetic particles and the intensity of external magnetic field. The aim of this paper is to present the influence of concentration of magnetic particles on the friction force value and coefficient of friction. The numerical calculations of friction forces and friction coefficient have been performed before setting the hydrodynamic pressure and a lift force from the Reynolds-type equation. Reynolds-type equation has been derived from basic equations, ie equations of momentum and equations of stream's continuity. There have been also used Maxwell's equations for the ferrofluid in the case of stationary magnetic field's existence. It has been assumed stationary and laminar flow of lubricant liquid and the isothermal model for lubrication of slide bearings. As the constitutive equation has been used Rivlin-Ericksen one. The cylindrical journal bearing of finite length with the smooth sleeve of whole angle of a belt has been taken into consideration. In a thin layer of oil film has been assumed constancy of the oil density with temperature changes and the independence of the oil's thermal conductivity coefficient from thermal changes. The viscosity of the oil depends mainly on the magnetic field.

Opis:
This work presents the results of comparative analyses of the influence of tangential longitudinal and tangential transverse vibrations on friction force in sliding motion. The analyses were conducted in the function of two principal vibrations parameters such as the frequency f and amplitude u0. It has been demonstrated that, during longitudinal vibrations, the amplitude va of their velocity constitutes a key parameter on whose magnitude the initiation of reduction in friction force depends. However, the level of the reduction cannot be determined unequivocally based on the magnitude of this parameter alone. Analyses were carried out in the Matlab-Simulink environment with the use of our own original models and computational procedures utilizing Dahl’s, Dupont’s and LuGre dynamic friction models for the description of friction force. The results of simulating analyses were experimentally verified.
Analizy przeprowadzono w środowisku Matlab/Simulink, przy wykorzystaniu oryginalnych, własnych modeli i procedur obliczeniowych wykorzystujących do opisu siły tarcia dynamiczne modele tarcia Dahla, Duponta i LuGre. Wyniki analiz symulacyjnych zweryfikowano doświadczalnie.

The paper presents investigation of the influence of the friction force calculation method on the results of simulations run with the use of the model ofgas flow from the combustion chamber to the crankcase and piston rings motion in the grooves. The first series of simulations was run using the gas flow and ring motion model in which the friction force was calculated from the empirical equation. The second series was run with the use of the gas flow and ring motion model fully integrated with the ring lubrication model. In that case the friction force was derived from the hydrodynamic model of ring lubrication. Comparison of the results obtained in the first and second series of simulations indicated that despite the fact that the friction forces calculated with these two methods differed considerably, the method of friction force calculation had insignificant effect. This refers to the ąuantities determined in the simulations which are most important from practical point of view - i.e. displacements of the rings in the grooves, pressure courses in inter-ring regions and blowby rate. It is not necessary to integrate the gas flow and ring motion model with the model of ring lubrication, and doing so to complicate it very much, if the aim of the calculations is simulation of blowby and rings behaviour in the grooves.

This paper describes the use of acoustic emission measurement as an indicator of friction force into hydrodynamic journal bearings. The parameters load, speed, friction force, oil-temperature as well as the displacement of the sleeve are mainly measured in mutual dependence in journal plain bearing test stands. The friction force can not be measured directly, it must be calculated from the reaction force of the sleeve. Many different constructions are in use with the aim to load the bearing with a minimized influence of friction force measurement. Because of the huge influence to the friction force it is desirable to have parameters that are corresponding with it and are independent of the bearing load. We investigate the applicability of the acoustic emission analysis to indicate the friction force at an existing plain bearing test stand. The adoption of the acoustic emission measurement system (the diversion of the waves from the sleeve, the wave propagation through the AE transducer, the measurement chain and the damping of the mechanical and electrical disturbance) onto the test stand is described.

This article presents the results of numerical calculations of the hydrodynamic pressure distribution, load carrying capacity, friction force and friction coefficient of the slide journal bearing, if the assumed model of hydrodynamic lubrication takes into account the dependence of oil viscosity values on its temperature in all three directions of the adopted coordinate system, in particular, also across the thickness of the lubricant layer. This research considered the slide journal bearing lubricated with the Newtonian oil. The flow of oil was modelled as laminar and stationary. The bearing bushing had a full angle of wrap and its surfaces were smooth. In order to obtain hydrodynamic pressure distributions, the Reynolds type equation was numerically solved by application of the finite difference method (FDM). The numerical procedures for this research were prepared with the Mathcad 15 software. When adopting the classic models and simplifications for the hydrodynamic lubrication and a thin boundary layer, it is assumed, that the hydrodynamic pressure of lubricating oil does not depend on the position measured across the height of the lubrication gap. On the other hand, it is known, that the dynamic viscosity strongly depends on the temperature, which is a function of all three spatial variables. The aim of this work is to include, in the hydrodynamic lubrication model, the changes of viscosity in the direction of oil film thickness, and to investigate how it will affect the hydrodynamic pressure distribution and load carrying capacity of the journal bearing.

W artykule zamieszczono wyniki badań tribologicznych maszyny szyjącej z tradycyjnym układem napędowym w odniesieniu do układu napędowego z dodatkowo zastosowanym falownikiem. This paper contains a description of tests and results obtained from the tribological system of a sewing machine with a traditional power transmission system compared with a power transmission system with an additionaly applied inverter. The recommedation for sewing machine’s controling by implying the inverter, which results in substantial energy savings, constitutes the innovative part of this study. It was determined that the efficiency of the process of sewing footwear materials is very low – it ranges from less than 1% by using a friction clutch to approx. 3% when inverter was applied. This study deomonstrates that replacing the traditional power transmission system of the sewing machine (clutch – three phase motor) by a solution when either an inverter is applied or the engine is replaced by an engine capable of continous rotation’s change gives considerable economic benefits, i.e. reduced energy consuption during the sewing – less 2-4 times depending on the sewing speed. The study shows that the replacement of the traditional powertrain flat sewing machine (clutch – three-phase motor) for a solution using the inverter or replace the engine with the ability of continuously change the rotation gives tangible economic benefits, reduced energy consumption during the sewing of two to four times, depending on the speed sewing. The tests described in this paper were conducted at the Department of Materials Science, Technology and Design of Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom.
